3- Your mobile is fully charged (in case you were charging it)
4- Someone unplugged the power of the charger.

http://www.yazandroid.com/
and go to RemotifyMyDroid (1st link) and it contains some screen shots to.
also have a look at my other FREE 2 applications there
your feedback is appreciated
Yazan.

Sounds great, but I think setting this up might be a tad harsh for general use (firewalls etc). I would suggest building an intermediary platform (web service) to communicate to. That way you can have a very easy setup. For instance, you can use the Google login service to identify yourself from the phone and the notification program and that's it then. No IP's or port numbers as most users don't know what that is anyway.
But for the techies, good start.
Cheers

Portal pending. Nice app

I will use this when it's possible to use it via the web. Maybe a Chrome/FireFox/IE plugin would be cool?

Really nice idea!

What a great find... The integration with Growl will be excellent on my HTPC. Also, this allows easy integration with EventGhost through Scripty.

just installed. works fine.

Any chance on a open source version, i would like to see how you did this. an maybe use some of the code in a Domotica project of mine.

Hey another MightyText. At least I can use this one lol.\

its not a waste of time, and for sure i have learned couple of things while developing this app, its not a waste at all.
otherwise you will see a single app for each purpose ... on pc\mobile ...
one more thing .. why do you think there is Windows , Linux and Mac??
could not other parties just SAVE there time and NOT develop another OS!!!!

Hey, didn't try it yet but I have some suggestions, in addition to a web service:
reply to sms / transfer calls to PC
low battery event
as an option, deliver every notification from notification bar (alarms, songs played, ebay auctions ending, FB msgs, etc.)
cheers

Mac version would be awesome .

Using bluetooth maybe ? PC as a handset (would have to be paired before)
I understand then distance range would come as a limit for many use cases, but could still be enjoyable instead of standing up to pick up the phone !

Is there software like LowCaller (Voip>Landline) available for Android?

Hi all!
I'm virtually 100% an Android convert, putting it on my HD2 a week ago and barely looking back!
One of the few things I do need Windows Mobile for, though, is using a small application called LowCaller (lowcaller.com). This allows me to call contacts via my Voipcheap account but rather than going via the internet connection (WiFi, 3g) it calls a 020 (London) number and then directs me to the person I'm calling.
This means I get perfect quality international calls no matter where I am and I only use my inclusive contract minutes.
I've tried to contact LowCaller via their website but I can't get through to them (the damn verification code is always apparently wrong!) so can't find out if they have an Android version in the pipeline. They appear to support WM, iPhone, Blackberry and Symbian so an Android version would be very logical on their part!
Any alternatives?
Thanks!
I tried SipDroid with my SIP.
Can't hear anything on my end, maybe you have better results?
You can try Nimbuzz or Fring, and then add your VoipIP provider
Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions but these apps/messengers are solely for calling via Voip directly to another party, as opposed to calling a local number which then, via my Voip account, directs to another party (meaning that I can do it from anywhere without the need for an internet connection, and with perfect results - no lag, cut outs, etc.)
LowCaller is fantastic because I've driven around towns and countryside in England while talking via bluetooth to my friend in Canada on her mobile - the quality was practically like that of any normal call!
It works like this,
I select 'Call via LowCaller' from my phonebook > My phone calls an 020 London number owned by LowCaller > The call gets routed to the number of the person I'm calling and I lose my inclusive minutes just like any normal call.
I think rebtel might do what you need
I use jajah (jajah.com) . It works like you described. Sort of. They give you a local nr for all your foreign contacts. So there is no app but you just dial the unique local nr and your friend in timbuktu answers the phone.

LowCaller
Come on guys!!
The guys is asking you about LowCaller in Android, and you recommend jahjah and Rebtel!!!!
JahJah and rebtel make a newnumber for each contact!! This is pain. You dont want to make a new number for each contact!!
We dont want to use 3g or wifi! we want to use a landline number.
So please, if you know anything exactly similar to lowcaller, please answer. Otherwise, DO NOT give bad recommendations!!
Afaik, rebtel does exactly what he asked for. I don't think you need to set up different no.s for different contacts, it just routes all international calls through a local no.

OK, I won't.
Bump!
Still no Android support from LowCaller. Any developments here guys?
Remember I'm after a LowCaller-type setup, i.e. I'm using my contract minutes to call a national number that will connect me to another number via my Voip account.
So stuff that simply makes calls via WiFi/3g isn't what I'm after (but thanks for the suggestions)
Peace

Hi keesvl55 - I've installed CcApp but can't work out how to (or if I'm able to) set it up to work with VoipCheap. I seem to be only able to add calling cards, which aren't what I'm using.
Looks like we're getting there anyhow!
I wonder if LowCaller will ever release a Droid version or update any of their current versions? It seems they never updated their WM client to work with 6.5.X, hence why I've always stuck with regular ol' 6.5, so maybe all hope is lost for them to come out with something themselves?
I guess another way would be to save the numbers LowCaller assigns my international contacts with in WM. I'm unsure, however, just how long these stay valid for before another gets assigned.
BUMP!
2,000 views so I can't be the only one after a LowCaller port / clone for Android!
I've noticed LowCaller's contact form on their website is working again now:
http://lowcaller.com/en/contact.php
Go there and request they release an Android version to the marketplace.
If you type "LowCaller" into Google now the first suggestion is "lowcaller android" or "lowcaller for android" - there's obviously a big demand so let's get harassing their developers!
Lord knows I might even click an ad or two should the need arise!

Christ! I think you may be right. I'll be trying it out tomorrow. Great spot !
Just a follow up to any one of the trillions Googling and finding this thread - as suggested above Betamax Dialer (now found on the market) looks like the way to go. The only difference I see between this and LowCaller is that with this you have to specify your Voip retailer's (e.g. voipcheap) local access number, so you only use that one number as opposed to a different landline number for each of your contacts in LowCaller.
I've bought Betamax Dialer Pro to show my support for a developer actually creating a Betamax local-calling client though I'm not sure exactly how the "call-2-call" or whatever it's called feature works. Guess I'll have a play around and see!
Under £1 on the market for Pro if anyone wants to try.
Thanks again 90180360.

The problem I have is that it doesn't integrate in the phone's dialer.
Also, if you want to choose a contact, it has to populate the contact list each and every time.
I still prefer to just save those contacts I want to call by VOIP as ACCESSNUMBER Pause PHONENUMBER in my phone book.
Works perfectly, no additional software needed.

I wrote an app to control my phone through google talk

Hey guys!
I developed TalkMyPhone, an open-source app that enables you to control your phone from google talk. It's like android-notifier on steroids, since it brings almost the same features and you don't need wifi/bluetooth enabled.
I can't post links since I'm new here. Google for talkmyphone or look for it on the market.
Developers: I'm open to contributions
Users: please use the issue tracker for suggesting features
I don't have many non-french users since the info did not spread very well outside of french blogs, so I'm posting it here. I hope someone will find it useful and write something about it.

The 2 solutions work. Talking to yourself is possible in gmail, but you cannot initiate the conversation, so in this case, best is to use a third party client like pidgin. Otherwise you can set up a second account. Any standard jabber account is possible.
Accounts delivered at jabber.org are *very* easy to get. You don't need to give your email address, you don't need to sign an agreement. You just have to fill a captcha to prove you're human.

Weird. Some unlucky people experiment bugs like this one. I don't know where this comes from, and I try to improve the code. It works 100% of the time for me, so all I can do is look at 'adb logcat' traces users leave on the bugtracker. If you wish to do so, it might improve your chances to see this fixed

Pretty Neat
I was able to go on Google Talk on my PC and send messages to my phone. The copy:text feature I can definitely see myself using so that I don't have to type long URLs in the browser. The other functions seem like they would be nice if you lost your phone or if it was stolen. Overall a pretty neat app! Thanks!

On my PC I have [email protected]. I message from PC to phone (John to Paul) and nothing happens.
I tried "where" "ring" etc, but the app doesn't respond. What am I doing wrong?
What next...
When you start the app on the phone, make sure you input your google information and then start the app. If you have Google Talk up on your PC, it should pop up a window for you to type commands into (talk to/control your phone). It did for me anyway. Type a "?" to get a list of the commands...

Hmm, I did all this. Let me see where the issue is:
My phone's Google account is set to [email protected].
I put in [email protected] and my password into TalkMyPhone.
I start up TalkMyPhone and it logs in -- successfully.
I go to my PC and log into gmail on [email protected].
I message from my PC ([email protected]) to my phone ([email protected]).
I get the message but nothing happens with TalkMyPhone.
Can you tell me where the issue is?
i entered in all of my information too and nothing seems to work, the app says loging in .. then that its successful. but then nothing can be done from there.
i cant even log in
i always get the message: "login failed" and then "stopping service"
i tried setting it on "use the phones account settings"
then i turned that off, and manually put in my gmail-settings - still didnt work
Same issues over here... Got it all connected, reciving messages from the phone works fine, too (welcome, battery, incomming callings) but sending commands doesn't work for me.
Got a HTC Magic/Sapphire with CM6 (2.2) running on it.
I had the same problem. I changed the GTalk Port to 5222 and entered my ****@googlemail.com instead of ****@gmail.com
Works perfect on my HD2 (Android ) Thank you!
When I log in on phone i get this gTalk message on my pc from my own account:
Welcome to TalkMyPhone. Send "?" for getting help
Battery level 78%
Works just perfect...

Anyways, great work chm.duquesne, this is a really great application.
Now there just needs to be a way in GTalk to turn off the chat notification in Android for a single contact
// Edit
The "where" feature is really awesome, mate.
Nothing serious but the reply feature does not work for me. When I received a SMS and I type "reply:This is my reply" it answers "No match for "+491234567890" (the number being the correct number, of course).

Hi,
After the success of the beta programme (over 100 people wanting to signup!) I decided it was time to re-write the platform to allow me to add more features and improve the overall "feel" of it. I also have plans to commercialise the platform, allowing it to be used by businesses/individuals who wish to monitor devices remotely.
The client application for Android is available freely from here and can be included in a custom ROM if you wish to make it persistant across factory resets. I do ask that if your are a ROM developer that you let me know before you do this, and also credit me in your release notes.

Hi,
I have created a geolocation app a bit like MobileMe or htcsense.com for any Android 2.2 device with Market. Allows you to show your device on a map and make the alarm sound, all via a web portal.
http://promethium.mobi/
This site is the main portal, There will be limited accounts to start with, just 20. These will be BETA accounts as I need people to trial the system to get feedback etc. Currently the email address has to be unique, but doesn't need to be a valid address, however this will be useful when you try and report issues.
Once you have signed up, the latest APK for the client application will be downloadable from the portal toolbar. This app will ask for the same login credentials used on the portal, and once connected you are ready to use the portal functions.
Check the site periodically, as I will allow more signups as the application progresses.
Please can we keep all bug reports within this thread, I would rather develop this in the open.
Enjoy,
Rich

Thanks to all those who already registered, just a few spaces left if people want to signup. Please only signup if you are happy to engage in helping me improve this platform... any accounts created but not activated within a day will be removed!
So far I have made quite a few alterations, improvements to the UI on the portal, as well as more interactive feedback. This means that you need to re-download and install the client app - this will overwrite the current one, and will keep all existing settings
Enjoy!

One more suggestion though, idk if it's possible, could you have it force turn on gps? I normally leave it off so if I actually do lose my phone, it would just give me the giant radius of the cell tower location...
Also, I notice you're using dyndns. Is the computer/server you're running it on going to be up 24/7?
**EDIT**
One more suggestion, a "My Phone's Location" button on the portal that snaps to the location and centers it.

I have read through the SDK documentation and the best you can do is prompt the user to enable it. So kind of misses the point
I have also altered the JavaScript code so that clicking on the location refresh button zaps you to the marker instantly, but you still have to wait until the phone updates the server to see the latest result

Thanks for the positive feedback - glad you like it so far.
Yes, more features will be coming soon, including a "Lock" ability. This is quite a complicated one though, might require the user to select a "secure" lock screen prior to first use.
I also thought of some wicked uses for the Nexus S, but that will have to wait until I get time ( here's a clue: Peekaboo! )

[APP][2.2+] Where R U? - Location via SMS

Hi guys,
So I decided to create an app based on a simple idea my fiance gave me, and thought I'd come to you guys for some feedback.
In a nutshell, it's an app that will respond to an SMS trigger with the users current location.
1. Someone SMSs you "Where R U?"
2. Your phone works out its location to the closest 100m (if possible)
3. The app generates a google maps link
4. The app SMSs it back
That's the core of the app, but I've also created a "premium" version that has some other features such as a customisable sms trigger, geotagging, blacklist/whitelist options among others
What I'm hoping to get is a bit of feedback on my app and perhaps the way I'm going about a paid version of it. I'm very open to suggestions and I'm happy to provide the apk to the full version for those who want to try it.
Here's the link
Cheers!

Very cool. Thank you for developing

Thanks!! Any chance you can leave me a rating?
thankyou for sharing. i was looking for this application for a long time.
Really Good
Dame Good,
Thanks guys! Appreciate it
by the way I have an issue
Hi, I was wondering if you can please provide information about how to use the black list/white list thing in free version, because I only want to send replies only one person so if I enable white list and add that specific contact to the back list /whitelist list, then will it work or not. I need an answer for this from you and asked from you to add details about this list configuration information on the Google play

Hi chorauoc,
Simply set the blacklist type to "whitelist", then add the contact you want to the list. The app will then ignore requests from anyone else Sorry for the ambiguous use of "blacklist", but I didn't really know what else to call it I'll update the app description to make it a little easier to understand.
Thanks for the feedback!

I love this! Its a simple way for me to know where my 8 year old daughter is and make sure she is where she should be if out at a friends playing! I can see this app will become invaluae to me as my daughter gets older and more adventurous in life. Thanks for this.
One suggestion for paid version feature is hide app draw icon if at all possible? As this would stop it being messed with by said daughter who by the way knows I keep tabs on her but accepts and understands why I do so, as my mother used to say 'Only privacy any child should have is in the bathroom!' But just because she knows does not mean she won't mess

Hi mate,
Thanks for the feedback! I'll have a look at your request and see if I can get it in over the next few days
Let me know if you think of anything else.
I bought the paid app tried it out with my girlfriend but I couldn't get it to work. I used the default phrase and she sent me two messages asking "where are you?" But nothing happened. I have a note 2 on sprint, and when I clicked on last location it crashed. Nice idea though.

Hi there,
I'd be pretty keen to send you a bit of a debug version of the app to get some more info on why this is happening. I'm sure there are hundreds of possible combinations of settings and the like I missed while testing Would you be happy to install and test an apk if I sent it to you??
Can you make an improvement
Hi,
I really like this app and i would like to make a suggestion and i will be really happy if you can implement it on your app,
Ie
Can you implement an emergencies response to send the contact in the white-list, means if you could be able to identify the emergencies like not answering , sim change, not switch on for long time, etc.
If i further explain this,
Suppose I am not answering phone calls for log time period or my phone is suddenly switch off and not switch on for longer time (may be day or 3 days) , then we can assume that i may in a trouble so i would be happy to send my location via sms to my white-list contact, but at that time i may not be able to do it manually so if you can implement a way to auto response to contact that would be really nice. Also let say someone stolen my phone and tried to replace the sim card of it, so at that time you can implement a auto response massage by saying your current location as well as the new sim number (In order to do this you may have to record current sim details in a database and check periodically when a new sim change occurs ).Also if you can add a method to add pre-define locations, means if i or my contact went to home then i might be able to save my current location as home or if i or my other contact went to someplace (let say office) that we commonly goes we should be able to add it into a list, so when in the next time when my contact or i went to that places we should received sms by saying that we are in that place now (Simply means by doing this we can be sure that the person i was wondering to locate arrives safely home or any other pre-define places even i forget to send location massage via sms).
So if you can implement such a auto response method then this app will be a great one. Hope you will do this
I wil add ideas for make this app better in future :fingers-crossed:

So I've finally managed to implement your request (It took me a little longer than I planned ) You should get the update in a few hours. If you want to bring the icon back, install the Unhider and toggle it there Let me know how it works out for you.

I really like your idea with the emergency contacts, but I think it's a little out of scope for this app. Could be a good idea for my next app though
I like your 2nd idea too, but that would require constant location monitoring which can be very taxing on the phones battery. I like the idea of being able to save locations though, so the app could respond "I am currently at home" or some such You have plenty of good ideas!!
found small bug
Hi,
First of all thank you for your attention of my comments, anyway I found a small bug in this app, that is if we close this app using a task killer or clean master apps or anything have the capability of stop the service then this app not restart properly and we have to manually start the app again to get work, so can you fixed this bug, because as far as I believe the app should be in active status of anytime, hope you will consider about it, finally are you going to implement the location savings things in your app

Thanks for the suggestion. Great idea!
It would also be nice to be able to monitor a remote phone (opening up the app to for parental monitoring for example).
This could be achieved by either allowing to :
- send a daily report by mail
- having a client app with data synced whenever a connection is avaialable
- sending data to a central server
...
anyway to export the data as .csv ?
Hello, thanks for app!
Any chance to remove "full network access" from permissions in future ?
Heya! Congrats on making the portal. Good stuff you got there.
Here's some suggestions for the intro texts:
Part 1 - Current
"Do you want to know how do you use your smartphone?
You have installed this app, so the answer will surely be affirmative.
With this app you can know with what apps you lose your time; time which you could lose living your real life..."
Part 1 - Suggested
"Would you like to know how you use your smartphone?
Well, as you've already installed this app, that'll be an affirmative!
By gathering statistics about your apps with Phone Usage Monitor, you'll know where your precious time is creeping off to. Time you might want to spend on living your real life..."
Part 1 - Motivation
The second "do" doesn't really have a function in the first sentence and I made it a bit softer to make a more friendly first impression. I mentioned the app's name to remind the user what's going to help them (branding, be proud of your creation). I stayed true to your intention, the reference to 'real life', but made that a bit softer as well by using "might" and not mentioning a negative word like "lose". We're all winners here!
Part 2 - Current
"To let us know this information we will run a service in the background to monitor the use you make of your smartphone.
Quiet!, it will not consume more than a little bit of the precious battery of your mobile..."
Part 2 - Suggested
"You're probably wondering how much battery this app will consume. Don't worry, just a tiny bit.
Think about the time you will save after gaining all this usage intel. You won't even need as much battery anymore."
Part 2 - Motivation
Shouting "Quiet!" doesn't come across very friendly. There's also never a comma after an exclamation mark. I wrote the text to match the battery icon better. I'm also pushing the major goal of the app forward.
Part 3 - Current
"We will give you more information if you let us see how do you use the apps in your device..."
Part 3 - Suggested
"Sorry to bother you but I will need some usage access in order to provide you with all these awesome statistics. Is that okay with you?"
Part 3 - Motivation
"let us see" gives the impression multiple people or a company will be watching along, which totally isn't the case. I wrote it a bit more personal, fun and friendly.
Part 4 - Current
"Do not worry!
The data we collect is NOT sent anywhere."
Part 4 - Suggested
"Do not worry!
The data I collect is NOT sent anywhere."
Part 4 - Motivation
As in part 3, It's better to speak from a first person point of view, "I" instead of "we". It's just the app and the user, "you and me", which is a more comforting thought.
Instead of "START APP" I'd use something more vivid like "Lets go!" or "Show me some numbers!" or "Start saving time!"
The UDPA looks good, people are used to not reading these disclaimers and accepting them anyway. It's also a nice reminder that even if there is a "we", it's literally stating no personal data will be collected on any server. Kudos! :highfive:
I personally don't like the last paragraph but ah well, one has to make a living, right?
Looking forward to those stats...

Sorry, but Internet permission is needed to display Ads.
I understand that you do not believe in my word when I say that I am not sending data anywhere, but I need to access the Internet to load the Ads
Please add export data functionality! Csv format for example. Great app otherwise, thanks!

Hello
I've tried but no luck reproducing the issue.
If possible, enter app settings then enable debug mode then reproduce the issue then sent the log file.
If not possible, please, contact by email or PM to receive a debug version of the app to track the issue.
Thanks in advance
