Hi, I've got a A510 that is stucked in unlocked? bootloader.
I was able to do a factory reset using the key combinations but it does not help.
I tried to boot into update.zip but it does not work. SD card is 32 GB with MBR-partitiontable and FAT32 primary partition and update.zip in root.
update.zip is OS_Acer_RV28RC04.PA.CUS1_A40I_A.zip
Booting Version 0.04.04.ICS-MDRR (unlock mode)
Erasing Cache before SD update
SD update cmd: recovery
--update_packate=SDCARD:update.zip
booting recovery kernel image

My guess is, recovery is bad and system is bad.
I cannot get any connection to the device from PC. Once I got ???? when listing fastboot devices, but usually I just don't get any reaction in syslog.
Switching off only works from bootloader. All other options cannot be switched off, have to wait until battery runs out.
any idea?
ps. will fetch a few more cables in case the MicroUSB cable is bad.

Try to force a reboot by holding power and volume down.
Let me know if it doesn't work.
When it is on and cannot be switched off? ok, will try.

I'm a noob and I wiped my phone before trying recovery! DERP. Not sure what to do next.
So... I need a little help. I've been looking around and havent been able to find a situation like mine. I've got a completely wiped/factory reset HTC Inspire 4g. SD card is good and reformatted to fat32. Heres the basics. When I press the power button I get 3 vibrate and orange light, when I press volume down and power I get 5 vibrates and green light. When I plug phone in with usb (to computer or charger) I get clockworkmod recovery v5.0.2.7. I am able to toggle through options, all works fine.
This is where I need help and I get easily confused. What do I do to get this phone back to stock settings? I've tried putting the stock pd98img.zip file onto the sd card, then installing via clockwork recovery. When I do this, I get failed installation EVERY time. I've also tried connecting through ace hack kit on my lap top and running the stock settings flash. Whenever it resets the phone it does the 3 vibrates/orange light and stops.
I would really appreciate someone with a little more experience to walk me through what I need to do to recover.
Update: When I try to download the zip from the sd card via clockworkmod I get the error E:Signature Verification Failed. I'm not sure what this means.
If someone can solve my problem I'll buy them lunch or coffee! Some kind of gift card to your favorite place? I'd really like my android back!

You only flash pd98 files from fast boot not from CWM recovery. Boot in bootloader and it will find it
I am going to come off as the biggest noob here, but its got to be done. How do you boot in bootloader?
EDIT: Alright. So Bootloader is Volume down and power. My phone won't boot into bootloader. Phone vibrate 5 times and green led comes on. Screen stays black the whole time.

Ok i dont use CWM but there maybe an option in there to reboot into bootloader. Try holding volume up and power. Could be confusing devices on that though

Nah, no other combo's work for getting into bootloader or rebooting it. From what I've read on other forums, if I can't get into bootloader, I'm bricked. Do you think since the phone is wiped back to factory settings that HTC would replace it under the warranty?
Since you can boot into recovery, adb should still work. Enter recovery then plug in your phone to PC and run adb reboot bootloader
Have you tried reflashing a rom in recovery aswell?

If you are booting into CWM your not back to factory. As stated above you can use adb to boot into bootloader
Just making sure I'm doing this right as its the first time I've ever use adb commands to me phone. Do I need to downloand Android SDK to write commands to the phone?
Okay. I've learned how to use the adb commands. That was cool. haha. So I popped the battery out, then back in to get to CWM. With phone connected to computer I tried adb reboot bootloader. My phone rebooted itself, but it did the 3 vibrates with a flashing orange LED. Adb reboot recovery does the same thing.
For being in recovery. Are you guys talking about the volume down power combination, when I do this and connect the phone to the pc, the pc doesn't detect the phone. So there is no abd commands/flashing roms to it in recovery.

OK looks like your bootloader is messed up. Go to the ace hack kit thread. There you will find a link foe the IRC chat room. Go there and tell them what you did. They maybe able to help you.
Since the recovery partition takes up ~5 gigs of space. Has anyone tried to create a USB backup of the backup image and then merging the recovery partition with the main OS partition? Is that possible?
Great question - wondering this as well.

Mine is only 3.5gb, I think this is a very risky way to gain a couple of gigs, surely if your that short getting rid of the page file will gain you another 2 gigs. Or you could get a class 10 64gb micro sd then mklink /j it to any location you need ie music photos etc. Personally I would recommend doing a lot of tests first.
If you did that, how would you recover? I mean, its not like WinRT is available as a download. Can you even ghost image?!

I plugged in a 16gb usb stick that i bought for $11 yesterday into my Surface and created a recovery from there. I'm still yet to figure out a way to restore from it. More importantly, how to boot into the advance options on a cold boot to restore from the usb recovery stick is what im interested in.

And from my experience, you also need to do it while the recovery drive is inserted into the USB port. I was expecting to see a prompt asking me to insert the recovery drive, but that prompt never came.
Finally, after plugging in the recovery drive, holding down the Volume Down key and pressing the Start button, it booted directly from the recovery drive with a light-blue screen asking me to choose a language.
HTC One S S4 16 GB
what I did:
1. Unlocked Bootloader
2. installed cwm
3. rooted
4. made backup
5. Factory Reset / Wipe before
6. Flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701314
which resulted into a black screen
7. Tried to use my back up---> no back up available
8. SD Card wont mount
9. Tried to put new rom via usb mount--->not possible
10. Tried to repair recovery via fastboot---> still not reading sd card
Situation now:
Now Battery is getting low and wont load anymore, only a red light is blinking for the first minutes when I try loading, so I cant get into Bootloader anymore.
What I am thinking to do:
Open HTC One S and load the Battery separately, then I hope to get into the Bootloader again.
Then I will try to lock the Bootloader and to use a ruu.
Is there anybody who had similar problems? Any suggestions?
Thanks to Everybody in advance!
Yeah, leave it charging for a couple of hours, then unplug the charger and try to boot into bootloader again.
Once inside bootloader, plug in the usb cable and fastboot flash the boot.img.

It has been loading for about 12 hours now, still it wont load the bootloader. So I am assuming that it is not able to charge the battery.
Still thank you for your answer.
This morning my phone would not boot up nor would it take a charge (no charge light on). I looked at various forums/blogs and tried a lot of different methods to fix the problem. I tried soft/hard reset, more powerful charger, connecting the phone to my computer with HTC sync, battery calibration test, and even putting the sensor on front of a light while doing resets.
Only two things were accomplished. I'm able to access the bootloader screen but all of the reboot options only take me back to the bootloader screen. The factory reset and recovery don't work. The battery calibration test does prompt a empty battery symbol to come up, so I'm not really sure what that's indicating.
I would appreciate any help.
Are you currently s-off?

Did you try reflashing your recovery ?Maybe your recovery got corrupted. I would get the newest twrp 2.8.1.0 download from the twrp web site and flash it again. Chances are this will fix your problem.

My suggestion would be to try a fresh download of the ruu on your sd card and format it on your computer first or try a different sd card. Also there are many ruu's available make sure your using the correct ruu for the firmware your on. Your on 4.4.4 firmware right ?
If this does not work you might want to try formatting everything in recovery including internal memory, before doing so go under mount and make sure everything is mounted. And have the rom you want to run the zip installed on a sd card and put it in after doing your format.
If your on a gpe rom which is what it looks like I myself always had to format everything if going from a sense rom to a gpe or a gpe to sense. My recommendation would be try a sense rom after the format such as viperone. Ultimately its your call on rom choice. And after doing your format I would flash the newest twrp recovery which should be 2.8.1.0 even if your on it already reflash it then try to install your rom from your sd card.
I got the infamous broken power button that made the Nexus 5 restart endlessly.
I managed to fix it by bashing the phone on the button as per the many guides online and the power button now works fine.
However, it seems either the phone bricked or the flash memory died as the following happens:
- Stuck on endlessly trying to boot Android 6.0 (stuck on boot animation)
- Takes 10 minutes to boot into TWRP (gets stuck on blue screen). When it boots, it reads all storage as 0MB and there are errors trying to mount ALL of the partitions (data, system, cache, etc)
- Phone boots to fastboot. When trying to flash anything to it (I was trying factory 6.0 images manually), I get FAILED: (remote: flash write failure)
- Locking the bootloader from the fastboot menu works, however, when I restart the phone it is unlocked again
- Phone seems to be able to read data (it tried booting android, the TWRP recovery works) but it can't write ANYTHING to it
- I tried both fastboot erase and fastboot format. It fails to do both of these.
- I had the idea to next try and boot it into LG Download mode to flash it to stock using the LG Download tool. I cannot boot into Download mode, however, as pressing Volume_up + plugging phone into PC results in the battery icon for charging. This is the same behavior with my other Nexus 5 (running 6.0) I have.
How can I boot into Download mode on Android 6.0?
Possible the flash storage chip is fried? If so...why can I read fine from it?
It's almost as if it went into write-protect mode or wore out it's write-cycles of the flash.
It is out of warranty. Do I have any options short of a new phone?
UPDATE:
I was going around in TWRP when I noticed my /system partition is read (size and everything) and but cannot be wiped. It says it does it but when I check again, free size hasn't changed.
/data /cache and /persist though give tons of errors and I can't mount, format, etc.
Also tried following this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...o-repairing-corrupted-data-partition-t2577447
However, after flashing Philz' recovery (which seems to work from fastboot as it says OK), rebooting fastboot, and selecting recovery it still boots TWRP
found any fix yet? I have the exact same problem
The emmc is damaged and requires a motherboard swap to resolve the issue. I went through this with two nexus 5 phones.

the thing is that my pc recognizes the device properly. I can acces bootloader, twrp and download mode, so I don't think is totally bricked, as long as I can access bootloader. there must be something to do! It just can't mount data, cache and persist! sorry for bad english!
I have to go with that guy on this one, if your eMMC cant be written to, then its essentially bricked, because it requires the cache partition to be written to, to boot the operating system. You can replace the motherboard if your feeling brave.
The fact that the bootloader is unlocking and relocking on its own is one sign. The fact that the partitions cannot be access, formatted, or written to is another sign.
I gave up with my N5 and replaced the motherboard which completely solved the problem.

the thing is, I already replaced two motherboards, the other one was with blacklisted imei. I'm gonna try with the third one, not giving up on this phone!
Did the replacement motherboard exhibit the same behaviour? I suggest a motherboard replacement if every other part in the phone is working.
just a quick question, how did you solve the power button issue? I currently have the same problem and the phone restarts endlessly when plugged in to a charger.
can i boot my (dead emmc) nexus 5 from any external source?
