Hey All,
So all of the sudden I started experiencing a weird issue. About once a day my S22 Ultra will immediately hang up a call. This happens if I make a call, I will go to send the call and then the phone just immediately disconnects. If someone calls me, as soon as I tap on answer it immediately hangs up. A restart of the phone fixes the issue but it lasts about a day before it starts doing it again and then I have to restart again. This happens whether I am making a WiFi call or a cell data call. I have tried clearing the cache and app data for the dialer/phone as well, neither has worked. My phone has never done this before until just about 3-4 days ago (I've had the phone since May). I am on Verizon using an unlocked version of the phone. Any ideas on what I can do here would be greatly appreciated, this is a very annoying problem!
Thanks!
Try resitting the sim card unless it is esim. Also try in safe mode

I had the same issue....I turned 'Wi-fi calling' off and it solved it.
I've had this same issue sporadically on and off for a while now as well...

Did you turn it off and back on? I tried calling with it enabled and disabled and still got disconnected immediately. Only a reboot seems to work and that's only a fix for about 24 hours or so.

I turned it off completely. I have dual SIM enabled and I turned them off for both.
My issue was everytime I received a call or dialled someone, after answering it would immediately disconnect until I restarted device and this WiFi calling was the issue.

I kind of need Wi-Fi calling. I work from home a lot and my office is in my basement, so cell signal is not good at all. I am really curious what is causing this all of the sudden. I wonder if it was the latest system update, maybe?

Yes, was the last January update that messed it up for me. Before that, Wi-fi calling on dual SIM was flawless.

For the past couple weeks I have been having major connection problems with 3G & WiFi. It would just stop working, even though the bars would be there and show that it is working, but nothing would load. Normally have to turn off Wifi or data for a couple minutes and then turn it back on, or reboot, but even then it does not last that long.
I found on these forums and other places that people seem to have been having the same issue and was caused by the recent update from SuperSU and something it was giving permissions to called mksh. So I denied it permissions, continued to have problem, I went back to the older version, still the saem, I removed the program, and started using just normal Superuser, and the problem still continues.
I was for sure this was the problem, but the program is gone now. I know it can't really be the mksh by itself because it's part of the android OS. For awhile I thought it might have been my SIM card but quickly realised that well WiFi is a problem as well, not just 3G data.
Any one have ideas about this? It's getting really annoying and almost not usable.
BUMP, anyone, this is getting quite annoying. I have searched and done everything possible.
Still needing help.
I don't like bumping this all the time.
I have done all the searching I can, no one has similar problems, no one has any ideas?
Still looking for some answers.
I guess I am the only one.

What do you mean by toggle Airplane mode, when having the problem, turn it on, then turn it off, to see if service works again?
Yes that works, that is what I do most of the time, actually most of the time I have airplane mode on, and then have only wifi enabled.
Either way, how does troubles with WiFi as well as 3G connections mean a problem with my service provider? They don't provide WiFi
Anyone..
Has anyone experienced any issues with missed calls (no notifications) or delayed text messages with their Nexus 5?
I've had the phone since 5 November and it seems when the phone goes into deep sleep the only notifications I can consistently get are ones that are data based (Gmail, email, hangout chat, etc.). At first I thought it only happened while I was on WiFi, but I tested this out by turning off WiFi and using only LTE and then only 3G, but the issue remained.
I've noticed with SMS and voicemails that once I unlock the screen and make a call or send a text I'll receive a deluge of notifications and messages at once, and I've been told that phone calls ring twice as if my phone is off but I never see any notification of a missed call unless there is a voicemail (again, like SMS, doesn't show up until I unlock and use my phone). It feels like the phone drops the connection with a cell tower while in deep sleep or something.
The short list of troubleshooting I've tried is turning off WiFi battery optimization, toggling between LTE to 3G only, and a factory reset. I haven't loaded the stock image from Google yet. I use Textra as my default messaging app, but the messages come in fine when I'm active on the device so I don't believe it's app related. Same goes for phone calls; everything is fine as long as the phone is relatively active.
I saw on the Google support forums that people have reported issues with the WiFi turning off when in deep sleep; at least they are unable to ping the device after a while so I wonder if could have something to do with battery saving optimizations in KitKat.
Anyone have similar issues, or ideas on what I could do to try to fix it?
---EDIT: 2013-12-09---
Here are some links to the Google Product Forum threads that this issue is being talked about.

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/nexus/3gVF5Dm-yG0/R761PwahTxkJ
The first one is the most recent thread, but I'd suggest that anyone that is experiencing the problem and comes across this XDA thread go post in both of the Google Forums to show Google how many are really having this issue. So far nobody from Google has acknowledged there being problem.
I have that same issue, also on TMO. It seems like the phone forgets it's connected to a cell network until you remind it. However, I noticed it first on my HTC one when I installed the stock 4.3 update.
I called TMO support and they reset my line or something. It *seemed* to fix the problem, but I'm not entirely sure because I got my N5 very shortly thereafter. I'm now experiencing the same issue on my N5.
Of particular note is that it always happens in the evening. Even if I toggle airplane mode around 6pm, by 8pm I'll have missed texts. I've just started periodically calling my voicemail to reestablish cell connection.

Airplane mode turns off everything and you will not receive anything until it is back on. Only wifi works.

Hmm, I'll give T-Mobile a call then and see what they have to say as well. I'm glad I'm not the only one, but it sure is a pain in the ass to have to micro-manage the actual phone aspect of a smartphone, heh.

I think he meant that he toggles Airplane mode on and off in order to try and re-establish the connection to the cell tower; not that he's expecting messages while Airplane mode is on.
Just to update anyone that comes across this thread, I flashed the stock 4.4 images and still have the delayed texts and missed calls after the phone goes into deep sleep. I currently have a conversation with a Google support tech, but I'm not encouraged by their suggestions at this point.
This just happened to me as well, I'm on Vodafone Romania. I only have the N5 since yesterday, and it's on 3G only, wifi always on. Wifi connects fine, today I actualy got an email from a friend who's been trying to call me unsuccesfuly for 1 hour. I just hope this is sw related, as the warranty is not valid in Romania

I just got my n5 yesterday.
I'm in Toronto, Canada on Fido network and twice in 24 hrs I have had the cell network not available, displaying message " emergency calls only."
If I restart the phone it will see the network a minute after it restarts.
What's up with that?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I experienced this problem on every single android phone I've ever had. I dont think its a carrier problem. I think its a OS problem. I've used T-Mobile, AT&T, Straight Talk and Sprint. All of my phones have done it. HTC Evo, evo3d, galaxy s2 epic 4g touch, nexus4 and nexus5.
To me it seems like it happens more often with games. I may be playing a game of Navy Wars (a battleship game) or words with friends. I pick my phone up to do something and as soon as I turn it on I get a notification saying its my turn when actuality my opponent made their move a long time ago. Its also an issue with IM apps like hangouts and whatsapp.
happens on carrier data and wifi.
If anyone has a fix for it I'd love to know what it is.
I have exactly the same issue with my N5 sometimes i get massages 5 or 6 h after they sent. And some missed calls. It never happened to me on my N4 so i believe its phone issue.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I do believe this is a software/OS problem as well, but I find it strange that I couldn't find more about it on Google's support forums or even more threads about it on XDA.
I wanted to update everybody and let them know that Google support put in an RMA for my phone in order to try to resolve the issue. I explained to the support tech that I tried resetting the phone to defaults and reloading the latest images that were posted (KRT16M) and could still produce the same issue without fail; I even took a video with my Galaxy Nexus and sent it to them.
And I gave up on being connected to WiFi all the time. Once I connect to WiFi and let the phone go idle all the issues begin, and then I'll have the problem on 3G/LTE when I turn off WiFi. Rebooting with WiFi off will get me back to normal, but this is obviously very inconvenient and putting a serious cramp in my monthly data usage.
I have absolutely 0 confidence that this is a hardware issue, but at this point I'll try anything so my fingers are crossed that the RMA/new device does the trick since it seems such a small percentage of people seem to be talking about this particular issue.
I'll post an update once I get the new phone and test.
I just wanted to chime in and say I've got the Nexus 5 on Tmo's $30 plan and I haven't experienced this at all. All my calls come through exactly as they should...maybe it is a hardware issue or even a Tmo issue.
I had this problem on Sprint. On one of the Sprint forums (S4GRU), I was told about a Sprint LTE issue. You can read more if you want, but net-net, the recommendation was to switch to 3g in areas where the LTE issue is occurring. Yes, it is a pain in the rear, but it seems to help me at least get the calls that I need. (data is available for me over wifi at this location).
Again, this is specific to Sprint, and only in some impacted areas.
(I did have Google send me a replacement phone - that didn't solve this issue)
There is 2 posts about the same issue on google forum
i can't post link i am to fresh on this forum
but google "Nexus 5 Hangouts SMS messages are delayed" 1st on top
and "Unreliable texting" 2nd
If this is the problem with software why it started like few days ago before everything worked fine
---------- Post added at 10:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:50 PM ----------
Another post on androidcentral
google "Google Nexus 5 - Missed Calls, Anyone Else?"
And i am with T-Mobile by the way
I have zero issues on my N5 with Tmo, texts and calls come through right away. I've had many Android phones and have never had any issues.
Are you guys running any apps like Greenify or anything that is preventing the radio from waking the phone properly>
Having the same issue on different carriers with the same OS where all that they have in common is a Google account, I can see one app having an ill effect on the basic phone functionality.
Sprint does have a known delay with incoming calls, it's a CDMA thing they enable on their end, but it usually only adds a couple of seconds delay.
It happens to me and when it does I realize that the phone is locked onto LTE, when a call comes in it is supposed to switch to 1x. The fall back switching on the phone's software is probably the issue on Sprint.
having the same issues. had to reinsert the sim card. tmobile.
I turned off wifi and restart the phone two days ago so far no problem just not using wifi. Hope google will fix it soon
Did any one report it to google already ??
I had an issue with sms not sending until I would reboot phone. I was only able to fix by getting a new sim card. No issues since.
For the people with issues, are you using a lte compatible sim card, and have you tried resetting the device and using it without any 3rd party apps installed (absolutely none)?

Hi all. I have a weird issue that after Googling it doesn't seem anyone else has had.
The issue started earlier today, in the morning. I was using my phone on the WiFi and it was working phone, then my phone crashed, restarted itself.
I noticed it wasn't connected to the WiFi, went to the WiFi settings and where it usually says the list of networks it said "Turning on WiFi" and the slider at the top was greyed out so I couldn't turn it off.
I tried airplane mode and that didn't help. But the phone was working fine on my mobile data so restarted.
Now the weirder part starts. I basically have an issue where, if I turn on the WiFi, my phone crashes, or doesn't act like it's turning the WiFi on.
Even going Settings and then pressing on the WiFi option freezes the phone.
The problem started when I was still using 4.4.4 however since the problem developed I've used my mobile data to download the updates and now have 5.1.1 I think.
The problem persists even after updating to the most recent version and doing a factory restore. The phone is currently completely stock with nothing downloaded on to it. All I did is go through the first time setup for the device.
The WiFi currently is off, and the phone is working however it won't connect to my data, it has the signal bars and then an ! instead of a 4G icon.
If I try to turn the WiFi on it crashes the phone.
The phone is still under warranty so I plan on contacting LG on Monday however it's currently 3:34 AM on a Sunday so I have a day until I can call them and was hoping for a solution in that time.
Thanks in advance. I have the phone to hand so anything you want me to test I'm able to.
There is some information I didn't type as I don't know what is important was trying to avoid a wall of text so if you have any more questions I'll answer I best I can.
Thanks for reading, I hope you can help!
Hi
when someone's call me (or i calling someone), the phone is hanging up, Wi-Fi and Cellular is reset.
phone software is updated to last version. all apps is update.
SIM-Card is ok (tested on other devices)
what can i do?
Sent from my G8142 using Tapatalk
Try restarting in safe mode and see if the same occurs again. If not there's some 3rd party app interfering with your phone.
I am experiencing a similar problem, I think.
Almost every time I am starting a call, the reception goes away and zero bars are shown, and the call status says "call ended". If I immediately try to make the same call again I get reception, signals get through and I can conversate.
Downloading a file of 100 Mb is a pain in the ass, because the reception dies on average every 2 minutes, which in turn aborts the download. The same does not happen for calls though.
My positions when this occurs are optimal places for reception.
I have switched SIM-card to a new one.
I am out of ideas to solve this, have anyone else encountered the same? Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
My phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted.
I have Google messages as my default app RCS. It seems my app doesn't work all the time sending or receiving messages with WiFi on. Once I turn off wifi I get my messages. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue. A buddy of mine has the s20 and has the same issue.
Bump. Anybody have this issue on ATT?

I friend of mine has the same issue. He did a factory reset and still has the message issue.
using this app on both the z fold 2 and ultra note 20 5g, both unlocked and both on tmo. had them both at launch day. im on wifi virtually all the time i use the app.
I have the same issue with every single app that relies on data - whether that means mobile data or wifi data doesn't even matter on this Samsung. Like twice per hour, I always get a WAVE of notifications. For example, I'll get like 6 snapchats at once, followed by like 2-3 texts every 30 minutes. Oh, and by the way, I have T-Mo... So this, unfortunately, isn't a carrier issue. It is most definitely a phone issue....
This is the first and only phone that I've ever purchased that has this problem. Hell, the phone also doesn't have voicemail support! I've already wiped my device and reinstalled the most recent update... Still have the same issues...
Sucks that I'm stuck with this phone for over the next two years, but this will most definitely be the last Samsung phone that I ever buy lol. When did this company go down the drain??? I used to have a Note 3 and that phone was awesome! But this Note 20 Ultra phone has more software problems than any phone that I've ever seen before...
*Edit* - Forgot to mention that Samsung throws ads onto EVERY single app that you use. I even get all of these Samsung ads on Google Chrome that pop-up and cover the entire screen. Keep in mind that this is happening just after a factory reset.... So there's nothing installed on the phone that can do this. It's just how Samsung works nowadays, sadly...

Yes. What I'm seeing is phantom messages that say "Tap to Download". Tapping does nothing until I turn off Wifi and try again. There doesn't seem to be a 1:1 correspondence of the "tap to download" messages and actual real messages. Sometimes tapping just removes them all, sometimes I get a bunch of text messages that show up.
I've had a Note 20 Ultra and a Fold 2 before my current Note 20 Ultra. I didn't have this problem with either phone, but previously I didn't have a cross flash (i.e., ATT in the CSC, unlocked everywhere else). The Fold 2 wasn't ATT at all, and the previous Note was all ATT flash.
So this issue is widespread and no fix yet besides turning off Wi-Fi.
This is the issue. Just sux. Tap to download does nothing.
I am on Verizon and it happens to me when sending text messages all the time. I read that turning off Wifi calling helps but it doesn't do anything different for me. The weird part is that I can send about 10-15 messages and then all of the sudden they won't send out and the only fix is I have to reboot my phone. Turning off Wifi doesn't do anything for me.

I tried turning off wifi calling too. That didn't fix it for me. The only thing that works is turning wifi off.
Does this only happen with Google Messages or other apps as well.
WiFi Calling and MMS messages on AT&T have been inconsistent for a while now.
It's been all over the AT&T forums for months. AT&T doesn't have any solid answer as to why it fails so much.
Their 5G APN (ATT Enhancedphone) is hit or miss on have the APN Type info correctly populated as well. Should be set to 'default, supl, mms, fota', but occasional it will be blank.

Looks normal.
I find it very frustrating that something so simple has so many issues on AT&T.
I still can't use WiFi calling and receive MMS messages. Sometimes it hangs even on WiFi, so like you, I have to shut it off completely to get the messages.
