Just got it 30min ago, The android on it now is 6.0 emui 4.1 and it wants me too update too 7.0 5.0. Is it ok too update too it now before unlocking the bootloader and root?
Why i ask is i think it would be a good idea too test the phone for a few days first too make sure it has no issues.
Also from reviews and from what i herd about the phone from others. They say the back plate is metal? From what i can tell its plastic on mine is that normal? Or did they just meant its a metal like finish?

Welcome on board!
I suggest you to update the system and testing it a while before unlocking the bootloader, just to be sure it's OK.
The back of my phone it's like gray metal, I can't tell if it's real or plastic. Feels like metal though.
You could check some videos on the web to see if your phone it's just like the other.

Just did the update a hour ago
And yea its hard too tell sense some metals can feel like plastic lol But im pretty sure its metal now reviews says the top and bottom edges are plastic but the middle part is metal and i still have the plastic cover on the back so its a bit hard too tell lol.
So far its working great i probably will run it for couple days before i do anything too it bootloader etc.
Big performance boost from my old htc droid the droid is still a decent device but the battery is on its way out will ony hold about a 50% charge:/ and max it runs is 6.0 and the biggest issue is no mico sd slot...
welcome
So far still running great really loving the performance!
I have question tho. Under security it says patch level march 2017. Is that normal? or should i be on a newest date?
Its on 7.0 5.0 build number b360 and says there's isn't a new update.
Model is bln-l24 us.

I have the US model and it just got an update to EMUI 5.0.1 tonight. The update probably has bug fixes, but I know it comes with the October security update for sure.

It rolls out in batches if new OTA comes. However, for regualr or old update it comes very quickly once you insert the sim. You may wait for couple of days though before trying anything new
So looks like everything is fine on this phone hardware wise So im looking into unlocking the boot loader and doing root but want too keep the stock feeling.
When i go too this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/root-huawei-honor-6x-install-twrp-t3671822 and when going too twrp i see they saying fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-berlin.img..
Is there a img for the usa model? Or will the berlin.img work too?

Should i wait doing the bootloader and root?
When looking for root all i see its for other versions like berlin. unless that works for the usa model too?
Hmm just noticed the thread i posted is yours lol
Does it work with the usa model? what got me hang up is the berlin step.
i just unlocked the bootloader Tried doing it with the UC browser on the device and it wouldn't load the sites in the guide... But it worked doing on this page and doing it from my pc. https://www.gadgetcreed.com/100-working-huawei-honor-6x-unlock-bootloader-guide/
Gave me my unlock code and i followed the guide and it worked OEM unlock was showing for me too which says some users wont have it on 5.0.
Now for root question. Will i still get updates if i root? I probably wont mess with custom roms for awhile cause i like the stock look lol

You will still receive OTA updates; however, I don't know if they'll install on your device properly after rooting. If you get an update, I'd recommend unrooting, reflashing the stock bootloader, and then relocking the bootloader. The Android 8.0 update is likely to come out for the Honor 6x in December or January, so I wouldn't have rooted now if I were you. I think 8.0 might be the last major update for the Honor 6x for a while, so I would recommend rooting then, honestly. Even the guys who make the Stock ROMs (Open Kirin) stopped development for Nougat in favor of Oreo ROMs, so many of the Nougat stock Android ROMs are buggy.

Oh i ony did the unlocking boot loader so best case is too just wait not rooting it right now till when 8.0 comes out? Having the boot loader unlocked wont effect updates etc tho right?
But yea i was ony going too root for the root apps and the trwp recovery but stay on the stock rom that comes with it.

You will get OTA but wont be able to install as boot.img modified. Best way in that case would be to flash the stock boot.img, stoct recovery.img and proceed with ota download and installation.
Or other way, be as it is, download full firmware and update via Dload. These manual update is way faster before OTA even rolls out.

Hello everyone, By upgrading so many times, and testing every build finally i found the solution for all who didn't get Oreo update till now.
Follow these steps to install oreo beta update manually:
Note: Follow all the instructions carefully, and install all the OTA at your own risk, i m not be responsible for any cause to you phone or if u brick your device.
Step 1: Install MENA firmware from here
Step 2: Reset your phone so you can install everything in clean mode and least number of bugs may appear. For reseting your phone goto System Setting->backup & reset->reset
Step 3: Now download July, August, September, October, only November 13 update and December update [for oreo] from herehttps://forum.xda-developers.com/no...ly-updates-t3733784/post75162860#post75162860
Note: Remember don't download November 29 update from above link.
Step 4:Now Download the Oreo Beta build OTA from here
Step 5:Now Start installing OTA from JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVERMBER 13 Update and December update manually via recovery.
Step 6: Now finally install Oreo OTA via recovery menu and wait to finish all setting
Enjoy Oreo into your phone.
Press thanks button if i helped you guys.

my devices is rooted and i am on 7.1.1 with Android Security Patch Level June 1, 2017
can i use your method to update to Oreo even if my device is rooted?
U can unroot it and follow the steps and can enjoy oreo right now
I first discovered this metod
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74926353&postcount=48
And,you don't need to install Oreo via recovery, just right after you finish with December update, the Oreo OTA kick in,if you registered your phone on Nokia Labs.

Your steps didn't mention about to install only November 13 update, also not everyone is getting the OTA on there phone,
when you applied the DECEMBER updates to your phone, your phone might have the build number 00WW_3_70D, thats only the reason that u find OTA, Indian user get different build number after december update, that is 00A0_3_700_SP02, there fore we dont get any OTA after applying manually update...
My method works for all the phone, world wide, u can try this in case u brick ur phone...or want to updte ur phone to oreo manually.
What if i use this method without unrooting my device? Or fiat install updates and after oreo can i root my device?

For installing OTA through recovery, its necessary to be unrooted, because rooting your device cause some error in binary files that stops system to install official OTA on the phone, there for you need to install it in clean mod and in unroot condition.
after oreo update, i will advice you to do not root your phone as its a beta build and could cause your phone with boot looping
so install it without rooting..
press thanks if it was useful to you.

Right now i dont want to rollback, cause if we get rollback ota, then also u will lose all you data and roll back to fresh 7.1.2 with December patch
So i have arround 161 apps installed and re-installing them, it tooks a long time...
Secondly we manually can't rollback as there is no recovery option
So i would suggest u that, use oreo for now, in future when official oreo will be available, i would try to give its all steps, procedure, ota etc to install them.. till happy using oreo beta

You can't even install it; I did exactly as the ColorOS guide suggested but the update still failed verification even though I was on the EU ROM. In any case, you won't be getting cellular data at all, likely because of the modem.img, and it's quite unoptimized.

I followed the conversion guide for the T - Mobile model that also works for the Verizon one. You also won't be getting cellular data if you switch to a global/ EU ROM. Other than that, it works fine.

Wonder if anyone else is having these issues. Went from T-Mobile to EU version, updated to C33 last night and I still have horrible battery life.
Phone has a massive battery drain and when I restart takes over 5 minutes to connect to cell service, sometimes even longer.
Any thoughts? Thinking of going to a custom rom

My first post on XDA forums. but just reflash using the TMO msm tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...l-to-restore-your-device-to-oxygenos.4180981/ choose OOS 11.0.7.9 then use the TMO to EU msm tool again, unlock the bootloader using the unlock.img you got from oneplus then run through the setup after this internal storage wont be wiped. then download the oneplus updater tool. turn on advanced mode, go for the stable full version but instead of choosing your device as the EU version, choose just oneplus 8T that way you get the international version. install full OOS update. not increments. Then just update to the latest android 12 from settings, about phone and update. if you want to stay on android 11 then make sure that you do all those steps again before using the updater app to upgrade to android 12. just install the latest OOS update from oneplus 8t repo ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/oneplus-8t-rom-ota-oxygen-os-repo-of-oxygen-os-builds.4193183/ ) 11.0.13.13: OnePlus8TOxygen_15.O.31_GLO_0310_2202182359 go to settings and search for update. click on the cog and choose the OOS 11 update. Technically you can already flash regular kebab 2005 without unlocking the boot loader unless you want to have root. Just download the full update from oxygen updater and locally update to the INTERNATIONAL version without boot loader unlocked.

As long as bootloader is the same , going back to 12 is not an issue..which it is. To block future updates just install AdbAppControl and disable the software update.

You can block info about update info too by download other version soft (older or even from A13) and flash only modem via Odin different from your current soft.
After that you will not see info about update.
