my devices is rooted and i am on 7.1.1 with Android Security Patch Level June 1, 2017
can i use your method to update to Oreo even if my device is rooted?

U can unroot it and follow the steps and can enjoy oreo right now

I first discovered this metod
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74926353&postcount=48
And,you don't need to install Oreo via recovery, just right after you finish with December update, the Oreo OTA kick in,if you registered your phone on Nokia Labs.

Your steps didn't mention about to install only November 13 update, also not everyone is getting the OTA on there phone,
when you applied the DECEMBER updates to your phone, your phone might have the build number 00WW_3_70D, thats only the reason that u find OTA, Indian user get different build number after december update, that is 00A0_3_700_SP02, there fore we dont get any OTA after applying manually update...
My method works for all the phone, world wide, u can try this in case u brick ur phone...or want to updte ur phone to oreo manually.

What if i use this method without unrooting my device? Or fiat install updates and after oreo can i root my device?

For installing OTA through recovery, its necessary to be unrooted, because rooting your device cause some error in binary files that stops system to install official OTA on the phone, there for you need to install it in clean mod and in unroot condition.
after oreo update, i will advice you to do not root your phone as its a beta build and could cause your phone with boot looping
so install it without rooting..
press thanks if it was useful to you.

The thing is, everything is running fine and it may be due to beta version of oreo, official version may solve this issue in future till i think we should create a thread over it

Yes, I tried rolling back through beta labs but have not received any updates.
Have you given it a go?

Right now i dont want to rollback, cause if we get rollback ota, then also u will lose all you data and roll back to fresh 7.1.2 with December patch
So i have arround 161 apps installed and re-installing them, it tooks a long time...
Secondly we manually can't rollback as there is no recovery option
So i would suggest u that, use oreo for now, in future when official oreo will be available, i would try to give its all steps, procedure, ota etc to install them.. till happy using oreo beta
Hit thanks if this helps u

Thank you mate.

Mine is certified, received Beta Oreo OTA.

FAQ | Frequently Asked Question
(Please Correct me if i am wrong)
Will i stop recieving OTA Updates after i update?
No, you will still get updates from motorola.
Will This unlock my bootloader? Does this need bootloader to be Unlocked?
If you are Downgrading from soak test to Marshmallow firmware you will need your bootloader to be unlocked to do that.
Rest i dont think youll need unlocked bootloader.
What is The Security patch Details ?
It's First November , you can also check the review video to see.
Is this the Official Update?
Yes this is the Update by motorola.
Will it root my device ?
No it wont!
what about VoLTE support?
How would people who got the soak test ota and updated there phones earlier update to official version of Android 7 ? Is it through new ota?
Can't we just side load there official update as we did with the soak test ota? I mean others who are on soak test build and didn't receive the official update.

Is the thread not clear ? I will update the thread to be more specific.
If you are on soak test currently! Then the only way as far as i know to go to the Official update is by first downgrading to marshmallow and then flashing the New OTA via recovery , you cannot directly flash(sideload) the official ota on the nougat soak test.
That's because the update is for marshmallow devices and the ota checks before installing if the phone is running the latest official marshmallow only then it flashes.
how to root?
Just installed the OTA through sideloading.
So, i couldn't wait until it ACTUALLY gets rolled out to everyone, therefore I used the OTA zip to sideload it.
Initial impression - I was actually surprised by the lack of changes on Nougat. But that's just me having used a Pixel.
Anyways, the Notification dropdown/slide is different, and slightly counter-intuitive than MM. In MM it was easy to turn on or off WiFi/Bluetooth/Data (single tap), whereas in N, you'll need 2 taps. The transitions on the notification shade are liquid-smooth, so :good:
On init, it asked me to reconfigure my SIM, where i found a particularly interesting menu... Emergency contact information... Good stuff, don't know if it was available in MM.
A cool new feature is the fingreprint to lock... Great :good:
The settings have a slightly revamped UI, but not by that much... Still feels a lot like MM.
The app drawer is the same. Was actually stupid of me to expect the Pixel launcher.
Didn't feel any changes in camera (image/video).
Opening the lockscreen is a little laggy using pattern. Opening it through fingerprint is still lightning fast.
App loading & use still the same as MM (Maybe apps need additional updates to support N).
Battery life virtually the same as stock MM.
Oh, PS - Was on stock MM, locked bootloader. Updated to N without data wipe.
Hello, could any early adopter of nougat update for G4 Plus confirm one exciting feature of android 7 (atleast for me) that it works on this phone software.
As of Android 7.0 phone can read 2G/3G/LTE frequency WITHOUT root(Google RIL version 12). Easiest way is to install app Cellmapper(mapping cell towers to map) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cellmapper.net.cellmapper
Could anyone run this app(enable "Use new Android 4.2 Cell ID API" in settings) and post screenshot while connected to LTE only(no wifi)? Also, maybe send debug report from settings menu to developer with screenshot.
Thank you very much.

Again, those are not OFFICIAL Lenovo/Moto websites. Stop believing everything on the net.
Read my link, a Moto rep already responded today that is NOT.
I have some doubt, pls feel free to help me.
1. Do we get OTA updates after unlocking bootloader (no changes in recovery, system and all), and are we able to install it as normal OTA if we get one.
2. If its possible, then can i stay in mm after downgrading from soak nougat first blur version, untill i recieve official nougat from the company directly and flash it as normal.
Thanks in advance.

I got the update myself.
Sorry i didnt add credits. The second link(mirror) i gave is the the update that i got. And moreover i confirmed from motorola support and they said it has started to roll out in batches. They have also updated the release notes if you havent seen
https://motorola-mobility-en-in.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/115401
I have owned previously Moto G 1st gen and 2nd Gen and in all of them to , you couldnt go from soak test to The official firmware with out unlocking bootloader. And i dont think this will be an exception but you guys can wait for the official release to hit everyone.
I have looked this morning and there where no release notes. I did check the site now is still no notice of upgrade:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/country-selector/software-upgrade
I guess this confusion is because of Moto...
There are any news about nougat for XT1641?

Hi all. Today I purchased an Honor 6x. I am in the UK. The phone has been on all day and I have been tapping the update button like crazy. It seems that I am stuck on EMUI 4.1.3 and Android Marshmallow. Should there be a Nougat update in the UK for this phone? Thanks in advance

No, it doesn't work at 100%, often users detect problems of various types after using FF here on XDA, this because it can download even packages that not always match your phone variant...

Updates should be already came out if I'm not wrong, try to force the update by clicking on system uodaye -> 3 dots on the upper right corner -> down latest update. If nothing is found, try to write to Huawei and ask about the most recent update for your build
I have sent Huawei an email requesting information with regards to an update. Obviously I'll get no reply being the weekend so I have been sat here looking at firmware finder. So close to using it. From what I understand it won't void the warranty of the phone if I update using firmware finder. What if the update doesn't work can I revert back to the original version. What if the update bricks the phone? Is that easy to fix?
TIA

The rollback packages are available only for a limited amount of models at the moment (and i think forever, if Huawei wouldn't upload other packages as they've decided to do) so it could be a pain without a proper TWRP backup. For unbricking, there are some methods for doing that and it could be easy like it couldn't be, it just depends by the problem that could occur.
Ah thanks RedSkull. I might try and kerb my eagerness and see if I get a response from Huawei. This week's a bit busy so probably not the time to try anything risky.

In your case the best way is to force update via Firmware Finder (In-App Proxy option). Choose same number (FullOTA) as you have and simply flash. Factory Reset is recommended.
Thanks a lot Strogino. May I ask how to force update through FF? What is FF?
go to erecovery, download and make update, you will go back to bl locked with official.

FF is Huawei Firmware Finder. It is database with links to official ROMs (they are on HiCloud physically) and tool that can force any ROM to flash via system update function.

These steps are also applicable on MENA firmware and Google play store Uncertification
so not to worry about that, because i did it too
Also this can help you guys getting system Updates, if you are stuck on any monthly update
So lets start
Note: before following the steps check whether you meet these requirement or not
1. If you are on OFFICIAL build. OR
2. Never installed any firmware or any updates manually OR
3. If your device is google play certified certified OR
4. Installed MENA firmware and updated to January patch updates.
REMEMBER: [Mandatory] You must be updated to latest January Security Patch Updates and registered to BETA LABS
if you are eligible for any of the 4 points +Registered to BETA LABS+ with January security patch then directly jump to step 3.
Step to follow
Step 1. Install Mena firmware from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/development/nokia-6-official-firmware-mena-region-t3664441
Step 2. Download and Install all OTA till JANUARY from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...ated-mirror-link-ota-monthly-updates-t3733784
This way
July-> August-> September -> October-> November 13 [update 1] -> November 29 [update 2] -> December [for JANUARY 2018] -> January 2018
Step 3. Now goto settings => about phone=> hit system updates
Step 4. If step 3 wont work then goto settings=> apps=> press 3 dot menu (upside right corner)=> select system apps=> now scroll down and find "Google Service Framework".
Step 5. Clear data of this app and try step 3 again.
Step 6. If you still wont get the updates then go here
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...ervices-framework-7-1-2-android-apk-download/
download the app and install it.
Step 7. Repeat Step 4 and step 5 again
Done.
Hope you will get the updates

Hey guys,
First of all, I m not guarantee that if your region eligible for OREO or not
but these steps can help you
These steps are also applicable on MENA firmware and Google play store Uncertification
so not to worry about that, because i did it too
Also this can help you guys getting system Updates, if you are stuck on any monthly update
So lets start
Note: before following the steps check whether you meet these requirement or not
1. If you are on OFFICIAL build. OR
2. Never installed any firmware or any updates manually OR
3. If your device is google play certified certified OR
4. Installed MENA firmware and updated to January patch updates.
REMEMBER: [Mandatory] You must be updated to latest January Security Patch Updates and registered to BETA LABS
if you are eligible for any of the 4 points +Registered to BETA LABS+ with January security patch then directly jump to step 3.
Step to follow
Step 1. Install Mena firmware from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/development/nokia-6-official-firmware-mena-region-t3664441
Step 2. Download and Install all OTA till JANUARY from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...ated-mirror-link-ota-monthly-updates-t3733784
This way
July-> August-> September -> October-> November 13 [update 1] -> November 29 [update 2] -> December [for JANUARY 2018] -> January 2018
Step 3. Now goto settings => about phone=> hit system updates
Step 4. If step 3 wont work then goto settings=> apps=> press 3 dot menu (upside right corner)=> select system apps=> now scroll down and find "Google Service Framework".
Step 5. Clear data of this app and try step 3 again.
Step 6. If you still wont get the updates then go here
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...ervices-framework-7-1-2-android-apk-download/
download the app and install it.
Step 7. Repeat Step 4 and step 5 again
Done.
Hope you will get the updates

Hey, I flashed the mena firmware, first boot and the patches are being downloaded! Since July patch. right now I'm downloading the October patch.
If you are on the beta, how do you roll back to stable without mena? Do I have to go to betalabs, unregister and after that I will get the ota to the last stable?

Well before the beta closes there was a button to request the rollback on the webpage. But now there's no button so the only way is flashing mena.

I need to rollback (Honor 8), HELP!

I have a seemingly stupid but still annoying problem. As many of you know Android 8 + EMUI 8 came out this summer and I have updated my Honor8. Everything works well, even better (especially with regard to the battery) apart from a problem, quite annoying. I have seen that everyone around complains about the same problem, so it is clear that both a build bug and not a local problem.
Basically ... the bluetooth link with the multimedia system of my car doesn't work as it should, while it worked well with the 7.0.
Tracknames, music infos disappears, sometimes it connects regularly, starting the music, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes the music passes from the car speakers to smartphone (!!)... in short, manage the music in the car It has become a big problem!
I tried all possible options; reset pairing, reset bluetooth, clear cache, activate the developer options to control some low-level aspects of bluetooth, and finally installed Bluetooth Auto Connect which also has several advanced options. Nothing works. In the meantime an update of 8.0 has been released (mine is the buiold 521). The update came out in September ... maybe (MAYBE) this update fixes all bluetooth issues (but i don't have any detailed info about). Until today I have not received any updates and normally I check new version regularly every day. At this point I decided to return to Nougat!
And here the adventure begins!
I CANNOT IN ANY WAY do the downgrade.
What I tried:
- through HiSuite. The "back to previous version" option appears random (rarely); normally the program tells me "the system is up to date". Once appeared I tried to run the procedure, but after the decompression it gives me an error "error updating".
- by standard Rollback procedure. Using a microSD and putting the full version of Nougate in the dload folder. The installation starts but stops almost immediately with the same "update cannot be applied" error.
At this point I am desperate. I cannot update Oreo, I can't go back to Nougat and meanwhile the bluetooth still doesn't work with my car. Remember that before Oreo, everything worked very well!
What can I do? Can you help me?
Thank you

Region: EU
Model: FRD-L09
Build: 8.0.0.521 (C432)
Previous Build: don't remember. It was Nougat, and I've upgraded around the first week of September. From that day I haven't received/applied any patch, because nothing appears until now.
This morning I've tried again with HiSuite. As usual it says I'm running the latest version and it doesn't offer any downgrade option .

The more you know...
Finally I've decide to try updating to 8.0.0.562. After a month of tries, fails (damn Huawei and his stupid update system), errors and a lot of other stupid things, I was finally able to update my Honor hoping the latest version will fix all the problems. It was a enormous waste of time (searching around internet)... but in the end I found a method described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/help/p20-pro-bricked-t3868085#4And if you go ahead you should find the correct firmware link (on a Russian site). Although, IMHO, failing with the classic method was due to the impossibility or some bugs in the update system, to unpack the update files on sdcard. So the solution seems to be to leave both the zip and the unpacked folder. The problems with bluetooth remain, but I hope that now there is not to be crazy applying next updates. ATTENTION: the method above is NOT valid for rollback! If you try, you'll brick your Honor.
And finally I've taken an important decision... for me this is the last Huawei/honor device. Next time I'll go to another brand, with a serious update system.
