Question Moto G Stylus 2022 5g Flashing XT2215-4 - Moto G Stylus 5G
I have the Metro version 128gb/6gb ram. I already have it sim unlocked. I really dont like the Metro version and want to flash to the retail us unlocked version. I have limited experience in flashing so if anyone could help guide me It would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You can still crossflash, but they are using unified builds so you'll get all the same apps enabled. No advantage afaict.
Thanks for quick reply. The one reason why I wanted to use the unlocked flash is because I WILL be using it on att soon. I figured it might work better and or be on att whitelist. Can you give me a crash course on cross flashing? I appreciate your time.
Doesn't work like that, changing the firmware won't effect how the phone presents itself to the carrier's network or the features your device has enabled. Only effects the software on the phone and TMO firmware already has all the US carrier apps and will enable the appropriate ones when you enter the sim(via the MCM Client app iirc). Retail used to come without carrier bloat and more Gapps, but this is not the case anymore.
Just download the firmware and use a tool that interprets the firmware xml to produce the appropriate fastboot commands.

Only risk flashing for your same model. ATT's variant is xt2215-2 and could cause missing features or even brick if you try flashing it. Crossflashing breaks firmware updates so you have to download the full update and flash with servicefile.xml manually.
Thank you

What you said are wrong.
Flashing the unlocked firmware will provide better carrier compatibility for other carriers such as ATT and Verizon. The original t-mobile/metro firmware blocks some features or makes it unusable at all for other carriers like ATT even after sim unlock.
In addition, after flashing unlocked firmware, there won't be any carrier bloatware installed and the boot animation won't be carriers' specific animation anymore.
BTW: Motorola is going to update the unlocked/retus firmware to even support 5G on carriers like ATT and Verizon.
Conclusion: flash the unlcoked retus version firmware to your metro version, and you will have the same best carrier compatibility as the factory unlocked version and the least bloatware. Both the metro/tmo and retus model numbers are the same XT2215-4 with exact same hardware, so you can fully convert to the unlocked version.
I'm going to attempt to flash to unlocked retail US. Does any body have flash commands for this. So far I installed the moto driver's on my windows PC, installed minimal adb, and unlocked bootloader.

The most important thing to make sure is that you check the specs of the phone. There is a Mediatek version and a Qualcomm version. Flash the wrong one and you got a brick.
I have the Mediatek unlocked version unbranded from Best Buy. Read my guide.

Afaik RSD Lite hasn't worked since Windows 8, might be your issue.
What other program should I use?
Try Tiny-Fastboot-Script that I linked to earlier

I wonder how you guys got the Qualcomm one and somehow through magic Best Buy got the Mediatek one, lol. Normally all the Americans always get Qualcomm.
Will be hitting you up later @fddm about the VPN hotspot. Notice any changes in being detected in Android 11 or 12 that still allow throttling after your APN fix?

You can go to Lolinet. THere is the Milan folder and then the Milan-F folder. Milan-F is for the Qualcomm phones. Milan is for the Mediatek phones.
Please do your research.

[Q] Consumer Cellular XT1034 to Retail US Firmware
So I just purchased the 1st Gen G for an incredible price off Craigslist tonight and seeing as I'm not a card-carrying AARP member I would like your help in figuring out which Retail US firmware to flash. Been reading [GUIDE] Moto G - Restore stock firmware and scouring the firmware downloads for Retail US XT1034 but am left scratching my head, especially in regards to the file names in the second firmware source link. Would someone point me in the right direction? Oh, and service will be provided by AT&T if that matters. Also just to confirm: I don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash stock firmware? Bonus: Any danger in flashing stock retail firmware on a carrier-branded device? Don't want to brick this wonderfully cheap device. Thanks XDA!:good:

Click to collapse Incorrect, those firmware images are supposed to be flashed on locked devices by engineers before being sold. That is why some images are carrier specific. Also you will get a 'preflash validation' error if you have updated to 4.4.4 and then try to flash a 4.4.2 image. @ZHXS, you can flash any XT1034 firmware you want without fear. Latest 4.4.4 images are posted in this thread: (actually look through thread) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546251 There is currently no 4.4.4 Retail US XT1034 firmware image. my sister bought this device for my uncle from consumer cellular. it says xt1032 but in the battery it says xt1034. also the latest update is 4.4.4. how do i upgrade to lollipop?
