I want either a teyes cc3, or Mekede M6 pro. The Mekede has better specs for the price, however I prefer the UI and launcher of teyes. Is there anyway to put teyes firmware on Mekede? And how well does it work? Is it as reliable as getting teyes officially?
The M6 pro is very new, so I would not expect there is anyone currently with experience of what you suggest.
Something to consider is that the HDMI input is a blank unless you specifically communicate with Mekede during ordering that you want it. I'm not sure what it cost as I forgot to ask I guess. You should be able to swap launchers with some forum digging(I've found that my forum-fu has gotten very rusty in the last decade, myself) without flashing firmware or even rooting.
As cool as it sounds, HDMI is more like a gimmick IMHO if it's HDMI-in only. It's distracting to the driver and HDMI wire is usually thick and it's going to be a pain to route.
But I do find the Teyes launcher attractive and functional.
No. Question answered, thread should die.

HDMI IN has multiple use cases, particularly given the fully laminated hi res screens on these units.
I will be connecting a PC to it, which will run my ECU mapping software, log analysis software. A games console is another nice option.
Thin, flat, flexible HDMI cables are readily available.

That actually makes sense, thanks for sharing that. Very cool!
Not to hijack the thread, but it maybe relevant, can the launcher be installed/run on a Mekede M6 Pro unit?
I'm also researching which of these two to get as well right now this week. I also like the Teyes CC3 2k looks and support but am sad to begin seeing posts that the Teyes is not as open of a platform as the FYT/Mekede models?
I have a lot of reading to do still though. Will take days to get through all the posts. But will do so.
I found that there is one guy making his own software updates available here:
7862/8581 FYT Factory by Mario Dantas
But noticed that he says they're not compatible with Teyes. So I'm starting to think I'll just go with Mekede/FYT version instead if it is likely to allow me much more modification options that the Teyes won't.
Interested in reading anyone's more up to date input on this topic of openness as it seems even FYT may have locked some things down in more recent updates?
Also, trying to confirm if the CC3 2k and M6pro 2k models support 360 cameras or not yet?
I'm also still unclear on the original question. Can the Teyes look and feel be loaded onto the Mekede either via just a launcher or with the full Teyes firmware? But if the latter, it sounds like it get's locked down to Teyes' proprietary limitations, right?

No it can't be.
The units are the same hardware but the Teyes units have proprietary software that only runs on Teyes.
You can buy a Teyes and install Mekede firmware on it but you can't buy a Mekede and put Teyes firmware on it.
The extra cost of Teyes is for the closed software and better support.
Personally I don't think they are worth the extra. I don't want closed software and I get great support here.

Thanks yeah. I also found this one after the Mario Dantas one and was what pushed me further towards Mekede as they both said they worked with Mekede but not teyes.
Edit: Oh, wait,... the latest VVE version allows loading on Mekede? Maybe I was confused earlier. So VVE was originally only for Teyes units? And the MD version was only every other brand than Teyes? I guess I was confused. Too much to grasp the first day of discovering all this this week. Interesting. Then I chose correctly getting the Mekede after all it seems.

You 100% certain on that? If so, then why does Mario Dantes say on his download page that it doesn't work for Teyes if so? Would be nice to be able to buy a teyes and play with their nicer looking interface but still be able to load the Dantas or Vincent Vega aftermarket firmware options. That'd be the ultimate option if so.

Yes, as far as I am aware Mario's firmware does not work on Teyes.
VVE latest version has added support for Mekede, I don't know more than what I've read on Gordgelin's website. I thought some of Teyes apps require activation so not sure if these apps are stripped or there is some kind of work around. I'd hit up Gordgelin on Telegram, 2000 Rubles is nothing and it's worth a shot for sure. This version of VVE has been the most stable out of any firmware version so far that's I've used on my Teyes CC3.

99.9% sure, though I don't own a Teyes.
I can't see why it wouldn't work. It's the same hardware. Only the Teyes software is proprietary.
There are plenty of examples of others installing non Teyes firmware on Teyes units, though not specifically Marios kernel.
I believe Mario writes that his kernel doesn't run on Teyes because without modification it likely won't run.
It is only a kernel after all and does not wipe the system.
You may also need to modify an AllAppUpdate.bin to be a non Teyes too in order to run Marios kernel on a Teyes.

Teyes units are FYT units and therefore on hardware compatible. The problem with the Teyes firmware is that Teyes uses a different partition scheme and partition names. That makes the firmware incompatible.
You can off course unpack the Mekede firmware (6315_1.zip and AllAppUpdate.bin), do the manufacturer id and bluetooth tweaks and repack it according the Teyes scheme (meaning to use the Teyes META-INF structure inside the 6315_1.zip and convert the AllAppUpdate.bin as an elable partition) and then it will work.
And vice versa: Unpack Teyes firmware, do the tweaks, repack it in Teyes style (meaning to use the standard FYT META-INF structure inside the 6315_1.zip and take the elable partition out of it and repack it as AllAppUpdate.bin).
And the question why Marios MD-Edition is not compatible?
Mario uses the "pure" FYT kernel. Teyes adds FYT apks (from AllAppUpdate.bin which is not in Teyes firmware) to the kernel 6315_1.zip, which doesn't make it a kernel at all.

I don't think that makes any difference.
They are identical partition names just different sizes as Teyes has a much larger elable partition.
If you tried to install a Mekede firmware on a Teyes it would simply resize the elable partition to that of the Mekede 6315_1.zip
I currently have a modified Teyes 6315_1.zip on my Mekede M500s with the larger elable partition, though the actual elable.br file was swapped so the partition is blank.
Edit: my current kernel is from this post if you want to have a look how it was done.

You are right about the names. I should have written/typed it differently but the difference in partition sizes is what I mentioned with a different partition scheme and what you find in the the "/META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script" and inside the "dynamic_partitions_op_list" file.
And the elable partition is not used on the standard FYTs as far as I know.

If you try to install a Mekede firmware on a Teyes then the dynamic_partitions_op_list file in the Mekede kernel should simply resize the elable partition to the correct size.
Thinking about this further if you attempted to install Marios MD Edition on a Teyes it would wipe the elable partition and therefore leave it with no apps.
It would definitely need done as a full firmware flash with an AllAppUpdate.bin and modified manufacturer id but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

Notice that there is also a CC2 plus and a Spro plus, that have more or less the same specifications.
The Teyes CC2 plus and Spro plus, does not have the extra ADAU1701 DSP and no gyroscope..
Well, really interesting.
Did you get any answers from vendor?
Their website is in russian language only and no translators can be used as all text is hard written into verifica l graphics.
Buy how to fit it in a standard 7" 2 DIN hole?
There is no difference between CC3 and CC2+/SPRO+ besides the board layout and the added ADI 1701 DSP in addition to the existing ROHM32107. Also has a proper control for controlling the fan. The others you had to enable the amplifier to power it on. All this information can be found on 4PDA.
Can the firmware from cc3 be flashed on a cc2+?
no, but technically yes. Teyes has taken a new approach to DRM and have encrypted their app resources in .ogg containers. To decrypt them, it uses a key stored somewhere on the device, probably in a persistent partition, as a seed to generate the proper keys to unpack the .ogg. A member on 4PDA has already done this using partition dumps from another member's CC3 unit and has managed to decrypt all the apps. He has made a custom firmware with the apps already prepacked with decrypted resources and has some private testers. They all say it works for them minus some bugs which is also present in the original CC3 unit. It is claimed that the firmware was going to be released to the general public on 11/11/20 (today), but it's since been moved to "eventually". The only way to get the firmware now is by paying the guy. It's a shame that a community effort gets thrown behind a paywall.

Ok the difference in price between CC2+ and CC3 is 50 euro (buying the modified firmware will be even less), if i want to buy one or the other unit I'll definitively go straight for CC3.

Ah yeah, forgot about the gyroscope, but its only purpose is for the TeyesVision app. Its what makes the car model shift to the left/right. It's just a gimmick.
It might also work with Maps when gps signal is absent.
Buy the way, does Maps run smoothly or is it crappy like on any other Chinese unit?
I don't own one of those devices so I cant comment regarding that. I would assume it does since the CPU is supposedly faster. I dont think the gyroscope would work anywhere else except TeyesVision since the gyroscope is accessed via an APK, so I'm assuming the gyroscope is not using native android libraries and its probably some closed source proprietary interface.
Should receive my unit by Dec. I will give my impression as soon as I install. Hopefully we can get someone who already received theirs to chime in.
I would get it also, if I can confirm it can fit a standard 2 din that is 7"

Looking to buy one or the other.
Can anyone tell me which one is better to root.
Also I like that navifly has 5g wifi.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001948289474.html
Thanks for the help.
They are both FYT based units. Rooting should be 100% identical.
There is no 5g wifi. There is the new 5G mobile network and there is 5 GHz wifi (or 2.4 GHz wifi).
Both do NOT support 5G, and both do have 5 GHz wifi.
Like said: both are produced by FYT including the Android layer and builtin apps. T'eyes and NaviFly are only resellers where T'eyes probably has by far the best support and most probably the better quality control, but is also more expensive.
Those resellers only vary in 2/32GB vs. 4/64GB, DSP or no DSP, STN or IPS or QLED displays, with or without 4G.
Note: the QLED screen is new and theoretically better than IPS (which is again better than STN)
Thank you so much for your help.
I'm still a tad confused though.
It would appear that the navifly supports 5ghz wifi.
And from my understanding using android auto wireless with my pixel 3 needs 5ghz wifi support.
I don't believe the teyes can do this.
Is this correct? Sorry pretty noob here just asking questions.

Not right away. The T'eyes firmware comes with builtin registration routines to make sure it is a T'eyes unit. Same for T'eyes voice. They deactivate Google Assistant, but you can only use T'eyes voice if you register with T'eyes. That will not work with a NaviFly.
It requires quite some (illegal) hacking of the firmware.
If you really want to go forward with this you need to follow the 4pda forum threads.
Hmm. I really dig the software. Problem is there is no eu shipping only directly from china or russia.. is it possible to activate google assistant in the software

Yes, but it is disabled again on every restart. I used the CC2 software on my Joying sc9853i and enabled GoogleAssistant again (and again and again) using a "boot script" that started with 30 seconds delay. Next to that: all voice "actions" are directed to T'eyes voice which is hugely annoying. Even with GoogleAssistant it is still hugely crippled as T'eyes defaults in everything to T'eyes voice
Also: It is really a demotivation strategy from T'eyes as you can't use any voice software (without hacks), even not T'eyes voice itself, if you did not activate T'eyes voice either. T'eyes is another supplier that does closed-source, protective actions on their hardware. Something many people blamed Fyt/Joying for. T'eyes even takes it a step further. But they do deliver a nicer looking product with good support. And they need to feed their family as well.
So I reflashed my Joying firmware again to my Joying unit.
I use CarWebGuru (paid) as launcher, GorillaSoft folder music player pro for music, Magic Earth (90%) and OsmAnd+ (10%) for navigation, and DAB-Z for (DAB) radio. I hardly even see the other software behind it and even removed some. Why would I install good looking radio, music, video apps if I don't use them anyway. And I don't see added benefit of T'eyes voice over Google Assistant, be it that Google Assistant does not make calls on my Joying unit.
Everyone should decide for him/herself, but don't cripple you unit only for good looks. But that's my point of view and you can decide for yourself.

Hi Surfer, would you mind sharing your boot script, please. I would like to play around with it. I have purchased a Navifly 7862 unit for my Kia Sportage and would like to see what can be achieved.
What are people's thoughts about the Navifly? There is not a lot of discussion about their particular implementation of the 7862 units. I ordered on yesterday and have just been advised that there will be a 12 day delay. This might actually be for the CANBUS rather than the head unit, though.
My car has multiple radio fascia options and only Navifly seem confident that they have my required fascia and their photos seem to show it.
I am curious to know if they cripple Android Assistant like Teyes does. I see you purchase a Navifly voice assistant so I assume that is the case. But that is not a deal breaker for me. I don't use Google Assistant currently.
Should there be a specific thread for the Navifly 7862 to be sure the Teyes thread doesn't get muddled?
@surfer63 compared to the PX5 MTCE i have now, there is equal stability in the basic software (especially google play) and in the management of radio, gps, audio? You ask me , but I really don't know what it is compared to an mtce. I don't have an mtce. But I assume the basic software is all equal. Note thhought that until now the RDS-AF does not function correctly on FYT units. I guess the Chinese programmers translated the English specifications incorrectly.
And I am a basic audio listener. My unit is simply connected to my very simple car audio: two front speakers and 2 front tweeters.

Reliabilty is not the strongest selling point of any of those Chinese units.
I guess they are more or less basically the same for any manufacturer over the several resellers: FYT as manufacturer in this case.
I also guess that the "mini"-assembly the resellers do, like TN/IPS/QLED screens can differ, but not so much.
The greatest difference could be in support: service desk, firmwares, broken parts, etc.
And I really have no clue there about Navifly.
As I don't have a Navifly I did not look at all for their firmware. And for that matter: Neither for firmware from Kingsbeat, Navifly, Zhan, etc.
And when it comes to firmware: All FYT compatibles on the same CPU, with/without DSP, in the same aspect ratio* can, with some tweaks, run each others firmware.
Now with the new models and new firmwares having protection in the apks, coupled to the MCU it gets more difficult.
*: not resolution, but aspect ratio: FYTs screen layouts in the apks are terribly old-fashioned and fixed: 1024x600 / 1280x730 =>16:9; Other layouts like 1280x480 or "Tesla style" really require a different firmware. FYT currently can only accomodate the several resolutions if the screen has the same aspect ratio. That is also one of the reasons the FYT apps themselves do not support split-screen. A feature they so much like to advertize, but doesn't work for their own apps. A few new developed apps do support this finally.
so..i decided to buy this Navifly CC3 HU on Aliexpress, the price is much lower than Teyes CC3 . Navifly ship the CC3 from Germany , Teyes ship only from China ...with customs duties.

Nice, I am very happy with mine. The navifly does not seem to have all restrictions that I am hearing from other units. But it does have some restrictions.
From China to Australia, mine landed on business Day 5 or 6.

Hi there,
Recently I bought a PX4 to replace my PX5 radio in my car, a Fiat Punto Evo. The PX5 did work as it should, but I was looking for something new and fresh. Since the PX4 is based on newer technology, and Android 11, I thought this was a step forward. This is an Isudar unit by the way.
However. I noticed the headunit isn't that great. I usually use 2-3 apps (Spotify, Google Maps/Waze and Flitsmeister, a navigational tool for speedtraps and so on) and the radio doesn't perform well when I have these apps opened. Google Maps crashes a lot of times, Flitsmeister freezes and when I want to go back to the homescreen, the screen flickers a few times back and forth. Also, it does reboot all of a sudden.
There is not a possibility to flash or update it since there is zero to little knowledge of the PX4. I'm thinking of the following options:
- Buy a PX6 board and swap it in
- Buy a PX6 headunit
- Maybe there is an alternative
What is a reliable brand in this sector? I see a lot of brands but I don't see the difference...
Cheers,
Jacco
There is no px4 and you don't say if it really is an MTCD type because you haven't posted enough information such as MCU type.
Brands mean little to nothing as the all sell from various factories and are no real "brands" for these Chinese units, only factories.
You want a 7862UIS FYT (4gb+) unit such as what mekede / navifly sell (type 116) These are much less buggy than mtcd type units and you don't need hacky modded firmware to make them work.
Well, there is, it's a RK3566 based one, MTCH_GS_V3.80_3.

I will look into those, thanks for that one!

Just for clarity, there is no PX4. The unit linked clearly lists PX6.
I no longer recommend the MTCx platform.

Well, actually the details list two options, a PX4 one and a PX6...
But @marchnz is correct in both accounts
1) PX4 is something this guys invented, and is not widely used/accepted (yet). Regarding the CPU they are using, seems to be a slightly improvement/update to the PX5... but very slight improvement (newer tech, more speed per CPU, but less CPUs overall)
2) Even if you go to PX6, those CPUs are old compared to 7862UIS... so buying today a PX6 would be a bad investment. If you really want to reuse the unit and only invest on a CPU board, the only option will be to wait for those manufacturers to adopt the latest chip RK3588 (which has a version RK3588S that looks a lot like a car-oriented chip, even with a CAN bus interface). Of course, you might wait for months and there is no assurance that your MTC-H mainboard will be compatible with it.
By the way, PX5 and PX30 were real Rockchip car-oriented official products. I have never seen any Rockchip original document referring to RK3399 as PX6. I only see this nomenclature on the Android-Auto chinese sites. So, don't kill us if in a few weeks every chinese vendor starts to call RK3566 as PX4
Indeed, I thought the PX4 would be a slight improvement because of the newer technology, but the opposite is true, it's horrendous.
No, a PX6 would be a bad choice. the 7862UIS option would be great but I see nothing which would fit in my car, and waiting for the RK3588 could last a while with the current chip troubles.
I'm not going to kill anybody, no troubles

So, if not reusing the MCU is not a problem for you...what about looking for a 7862UIS with a screen that has the same physical size as your current unit?
All the plastic fascias/stereo-fronts are made (most probably) by the same factory, and then distributed to different radio-manufacturers. Its a very low margin manufacturing business that only works if you do runs with thousands of units produced... is not a business large enough to have multiple providers. So, most probably you will be able to take the fascia of your PX4 and adapt it to any unit (MTC or FYT) as far as the screens are the same size
Hi, I was just wondering if a canbus decoder made for my car will work on any android head unit. I want to get the Teyes cc3 but it’s not compatible with the trim of my car so would it be possible to use a decoder from AliExpress to make it work. For reference I have the 2013 Honda Accord 9th gen EX-L
Just buy an FYT uis7862 the likes of what mekede, navifly and others sell.
Teyes is a con.

Why buy a Teyes if even the trim is not correct?
Anyway: Contact Teyes. All those FYT units support 7-8 (more?) types of CANbus decoders. Just ask them which CANbus decoder would suit best for your car.

I already contacted Teyes and they only said I can only try but they don’t know if it will work. They weren’t able to give me any information. I also want the Teyes one because I think they have the best UI. Ossuret sells the head unit compatible for my trim of car so I’m just curious as to whether I can use a decoder on the Teyes head unit.

What’s wrong with Teyes? I think the closest think to teyes that I’d get if I can’t make teyes work is Ossuret since they provide compatibility and it’s most similar in UI and specs.
A similar question. If I buy any canbus for my Mokka will it work with a Teyes cc3.

Not just obds dongles!
Teyes is pulling an" Apple" by locking their hardware and software.
By that logic why buy one of these units when most cars have screens "nowadays " or you can just plaster you phone into your dash ,my advice to you, do your research about the unit you want to buy so you don't regret Iater. If the teyes one is what you want by all means get it.

Cheers. I've been offered a cc3 but it for a different car. I can buy a dedicated canbus ,leads and dash kit for my car quite cheaply on Ali express. I'm just wondering if they will work with the cc3

Honestly, the only reason I'm really pushing for the CC3 is cuz the UI just looks more flush and better than all other FYT units. I also saw a thread on here that allows you developer access for the cc3 with the pin code provided by another member. The CC3 really has everything I'd see myself needing, Play Store with access to youtube netflix spotify, etc. Obviously the Apple Carplay + Android Auto. Other than those things, I don't see myself needing anything more than that. But out of curiosity, what would I be able to do by getting an open FYT unit as opposed to the CC3 being closed?

I'm not versed enough to answer your question directly but there are some things like this (which Might also work on cc3).
I personally would avoid teyes because i like as much control over devices as possible (adds to future proofing imo)

All the FYT 7862 units offer everything you mentioned. They all have access to the same developer options. They all have the Play Store, with access to the same apps. They all have the carlink app giving access to Carplay & Android Auto.
The only physical thing the CC3 has that the others don't is a gyroscope which is only really used to make the image of a car turn on 1 of their launchers. The gyro can be added to any unit.
The main difference with the Teyes is their locked down eco system and their UI. If you think their UI is worth so much more money then yes buy the CC3.
Teyes do their firmware/kernels in a unique way where the apps (usually inside the AllAppUpdate.bin file) are embedded within the 6315_1.zip kernel.
It means you can only install updates from Teyes and every update pretty much wipes the unit.
Teyes have been breaking more than they've been fixing with their recent updates, with 1 of the latest ones breaking WiFi and GPS.
I prefer to have the ability to customize my unit, including using Marios excellent MD Edition kernel. I like having the option of downloading the most recent kernel no matter what reseller released it.
I can easily customise my unit to look similar to Teyes if I wanted.
The CC3 was nearly twice the price of what I paid for my Mekede/Navifly unit. I could add 100 gyroscopes for that price.
Personally I wouldn't pay twice the price for what is essentially just a theme/skin, with added restrictions.
The good thing is there's plenty of info around about the differences between Teyes and non Teyes FYT units for you to make a comparison.
It's your money so you have the option to buy whatever 1 you want.

I 100% agree with this post.
No wrong: I 200% agree with this post.
So I have done alot of RTFF... But I can't seem to get a good picture of what the best option is for my cars aftermarket head unit needs.
Alot of the posts are either pro Teyes or pro Mekede but mostly I am finding just vauge reasons why its not a good idea to go with the Mekede in the Teyes threads and vice versa.
From a hardware stand point it seems like m700s is the way to go (8gigs of ram vs cc3's 6 gigs). Though the m700s claims android 11 and that puts a negative light on it since thats untrue
The UI looks more polished in the CC3 and it seems like Teyes support their issues better. (Please correct me if they is incorrect)
Now on top of that, security is a bit of an issue to me. Are either of these units going to be calling home and dumping data to a server in China? I would assume teyes has the upper hand here as they wrote everything themselves. Am I off base with that?
I also know that teyes locks down their system and you have to pay for some extras if you want them. What kind of things do you have to pay for??
On the other side Mekede sees to have more bugs/issues.
I was hoping to hear from both sides with a little in depth detail of the pros and cons.
I should also note this is just for my car. I dont really have any intention right now of rooting and customizing what ever unit I get. But that could easily change if something pisses me off and suddenly I feel the need to root and make changes.
I would love to hear your thoughts.
You have already mentioned all arguments in your own post.

I only want to make a few remarks on above statements.
To start with the second: T'eyes is FYT, just like Mekede. T'eyes does not write everything themselves. They do modify some of the apps, add some own apps and change the partition scheme, next to being a slightly more "closed" platform. That makes them the odd one out. Some think that is positive, some don't.
For the dumping of data on Chinese servers: On the Sofia units (2015-2016) we did analyze the software and found routines and server names that could dump data to that servers. When doing network sniffing on those units while on the bench in "some" network, there was no data going to these servers.
I personally did not check this anymore on the sc9853i and the uis7862. I guess it is not important enough.
Both reseller brand of units are good quality, when referring to Chinese low cost units.
If you want a good unit you should also look at Joying, next to Mekede and Teyes.
Do not only look at "fancy, shiny" launchers: Does it only look nice or is it also flexible in use? Some of those fancy launchers are very rigid in use. Take a good look at that.
But even more: look at one of those reseller that offers the best fit for your car and dashboard.
In the end it all comes down to personal taste.

Thank you for easing my mind about the security issues!
What kind of things need to be paid extra for on the CC3 (That you wouldnt have to on other systems)? Cant seem to find much of an answer on that.
