I tried installing a "virtual android phone/system" in virtualbox, for that i used blissos - https://blissos.org/
When performing the installation it always ends with the same error, i'm doing the same steps as people on youtube but for them it works..
Any help is welcome... or if you know other virtual android os'es please share them, but not things like androidprojectx86 because this one is full of google spyware.
See the error:

You can see the screenshot in my first post, that's where it fails.
I tried again right now. Used blissos 11 and followed instructions, same error.
very wired, worked now... used the stable version instead of new gpu/cpu version.. 2gb ram 16gm system.

I was following the instructions HERE then I had that famous error that no one apparently has a solution for it anywhere!
So anyway straight to the point it, it was some "libusb" components missing. Thanks to AdamOutler in this THREAD I was able to figure it out.
I have Xubuntu 12.04 installed and found out that libusb was in fact installed but it appears to be for some reason - I am not that expert anyway - Heimdall wasn't able to connect to the tablet.
Solution: [should work on Ubuntu, any Ubuntu based OS like Xubuntu, Kubuntu, etc or any other Linux distribution]
First of all for those who doesn't know how to install it in the first place, CLICK HERE! and download both Command Line and Frontend versions because you have to first install the Command Line version in order to make the Frontend version work
1. Now find Synaptic Package Manager, usually in Menu>System>Synaptic Package Manager
{

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If not then you have to install it via Ubuntu Software Center.
2. Now use the Quick filter and search for "libusb" as in the screenshot
You have to make sure the following packages are installed:
libusb-ocaml
libdevice-usb-perl
libhpmud0 (not sure if it's essential)
libusb-0.1-4
libusb-1.0-0
libusb-1.0-0-dev
libusb-dev
libusbprog-dev
libusb++0.1-4c2
libusb++-dev
libusbtc08-1
libusbmuxd-dev
libusbprog0
libusbmuxd1
If you found a package "ticked" then it's installed, otherwise you have to tick it then choose "Mark for installation".
When you finish marking packages, click on Apply to....APPLY! xD
Now restart your computer and now you'd be able to use Heimdall without any problem

for ubuntu just open terminal and run
Code:
sudo apt-get install libusbXXXX
for every package mentioned above!! :good:
I installed Linux Deploy, BusyBox, and a VNC app (running CM 12.1 unofficial). Here's what steps I took (not including the hours of googling):
1. Installed BusyBox to the default location /system/xbin
2. Opened Linux Deploy and went to the preferences (I have root access)
Distribution: Kali Linux
Distribution suite: sana
Architecture: armhf
Mirror URL: who cares
Installation type: File
Installation path: /storage/emulated/0/linux.IMG

...
DNS server: Automatic detection
Localization: POSIX
Desktop environment: GNOME
...
Chroot directory: /data/local/Linux
SSH: allowed
SSH settings: 22
GUI: allowed
Graphics subsystem: VNC
3. Installed it
4. Started it from the main menu and it gives me this

5. Google like crazy and just assume that I have to run a terminal command
6. Run the terminal and use the default command
I've tried Ubuntu, re flashing my ROM, updating ENV, reconfigured the install, uninstalled BusyBox and Linux Deploy... I don't know what to do anymore.
I've seen lots of posts about this problem but no real solution. Anyone solve this issue?

Yeah it was step 1 but it got lost with all the bodies of text and the pictures around it. I actually fixed it but I had to boot into recovery and wipe everything but the external sdcard. Not sure what exactly happened or why but at least I know a ton about Linux Deploy.

I've noticed that you didn't specify the size of the image file in the description, unless I know how big you're making the image file it could be that your not giving it enough size to install all of Linux and the desktop environment.

Oh and if you're installing Kali with the extra Kali components, you're going to need at least 6 GB (1024 MB per GB) of storage ready to download the files for the image.

Hi all,
wrote a Windows CMD script that backups / clones partitions of an Android device via ADB because I wasn't content with any 3rd-party APK what claims to do this job.
The backups /clones are stored on Windows computer as TAR-file/.IMG-file.
This script was
Created and tested on Genymotion with Samsung Galaxy S8 image ( Android 8.1 )
Runs on Windows versions Windows XP professional, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 & Windows 10
Should work with Mediatek, Unisoc (Spreadtrum), Qualcomm etc chipset based Android phones
This script requires Android is rooted.
Example screenshots:
If you are interested in this script and in the required accompanying executables then I let you know that all got packed into a .ZIP-file what can get fetched here
Android-Partitions-Backup-Tool
MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.
www.mediafire.com
Once downloaded you extract the .ZIP-file to any location of your Windows computer, then in extracted folder run the .BAT-file housed therein.
sounds great
will try it asap
just downloading

1. As mentioned tool was run on Genymotion emulator: real phones of course have a lot more partitions.
2. If you decide to create clones then the produced .IMG-files can get played back to phone by Android's dd command.
Wonder why you classify this tool as malware? Looks to me you didnt get the purpose of this tool.

I am trying to install Calyx OS on pixel 4a. I am new to this and have hit several snags in the process but am currently stuck and can not find anyone who has posted a similar problem with solution. I am installing using a microsoft surface pro running windows 10. I have adb and flashboot in the same folder as sunfish-factory-8.2.8 (from calyx website, not unzipped) and the device-flasher from the calyx website. I have updated the google USB driver and am able to unlock the device and find it with fastboot devices command. However, when I run the device-flasher and follow the steps (It seems you are actually not expected to have the device unlocked when starting), I get an error that says " 'powershell' is not a recognized internal or external command, operable program or batch file. " I have repeated the process on another older windows device running windows 7 and got the same error message. Is this a problem with the device-flasher or something with my devices and what is the process to complete installation? Thanks.

It looks like it runs a powershell script. I don't think Windows 7 comes w/ Powershell by default. It used to be a closed source install on Microsoft's site but it looks like they made it open source and now release it on Github.

Thank you for the help. The screenshot is from my surface pro 4 which has powershell. My older laptop may not have had powershell. I think in looking at another OS, that a script is needed to temporarily set the PATH or some sort of attribute so that powershell can be accessed by the executable file. I couldn't acuatlly figure out how to do this. So instead I loaded Graphene which has a surprisingly easy online set up. I haven't gotten to use it much to see if it is actually good but I could at least get it running on the phone.
Thor Flash UtilityThis is a flash utility for Samsung devices, made from scratch in C#.
To run this, you must have .NET 7 runtime installed on your computer.
Latest release can be found on GitHub - https://github.com/Samsung-Loki/Thor
This tool was tested and works flawlessly, I'm open for any bug reports.
List of platforms1) Linux (USB DevFS method)
2) Windows (not implemented)
3) Mac OS (not implemented)
How's it different from Heimdall?Fun fact: Official Odin for Linux works using DevFS, and people report it working when Heimdall didn't.
1) Is able to do NAND Erase All (aka erase userdata) and erase any partition, given the length.
2) Ability to shutdown and reboot into Odin mode (not supported on every device)
3) Not using a USB transfer library and doing it natively for best results
4) Extended the PIT parser with new information being discovered
5) Can flash directly from an Odin .tar / .tar.md5 archive
6) Works with .lz4 files directly without manual extraction
7) Implemented EFS Clear and Bootloader Update options in Odin
8) Is able to change the sales code of the device

Frequently Asked Questions1) A fatal error occurred. The required library something could not be found.
This is a Linux Package Mixup, use this as reference.
2) What happened to original Thor (or Hreidmar)
This is a rewrite of Thor written from scratch, so I could implement the native USB communication.
Also, the old codebase was severely flawed in my opinion. I archived it here.

This tool could probably be used in Termux or in a root shell if you somehow could install .NET 7 Runtime. But, it does require the phone to be rooted for Thor to be able to access the USB devices connected. And additionally, you need a (first phones USB) to (second phone's USB) cable to connect, or have some adapter to make it work.
