I was following the instructions HERE then I had that famous error that no one apparently has a solution for it anywhere!
So anyway straight to the point it, it was some "libusb" components missing. Thanks to AdamOutler in this THREAD I was able to figure it out.
I have Xubuntu 12.04 installed and found out that libusb was in fact installed but it appears to be for some reason - I am not that expert anyway - Heimdall wasn't able to connect to the tablet.
Solution: [should work on Ubuntu, any Ubuntu based OS like Xubuntu, Kubuntu, etc or any other Linux distribution]
First of all for those who doesn't know how to install it in the first place, CLICK HERE! and download both Command Line and Frontend versions because you have to first install the Command Line version in order to make the Frontend version work
1. Now find Synaptic Package Manager, usually in Menu>System>Synaptic Package Manager
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If not then you have to install it via Ubuntu Software Center.
2. Now use the Quick filter and search for "libusb" as in the screenshot
You have to make sure the following packages are installed:
libusb-ocaml
libdevice-usb-perl
libhpmud0 (not sure if it's essential)
libusb-0.1-4
libusb-1.0-0
libusb-1.0-0-dev
libusb-dev
libusbprog-dev
libusb++0.1-4c2
libusb++-dev
libusbtc08-1
libusbmuxd-dev
libusbprog0
libusbmuxd1
If you found a package "ticked" then it's installed, otherwise you have to tick it then choose "Mark for installation".
When you finish marking packages, click on Apply to....APPLY! xD
Now restart your computer and now you'd be able to use Heimdall without any problem

Hi All,
I've been reading this forum for a good few days now as I am trying to get my Kyros functioning the way I need it to. However, I've run into a few problems and am not 100% sure as to what to do. Before I go on, I'm not very techy, so I would be very greatful if replies could be as straight forward as possible, without much jargon as that really loses me
First off, we've just managed to install the windows and ADB drives. I'm following all the instructions from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858952. That took some hacks our side, but is now working.
I'm pretty stuck on the clockwork reboot though. Again, followed the instructions from the link above. When it initially rebooted, it went straight into the Android System Recovery mode (the robot with the triangle opening screen.) I've tried it over and over, following the directions exactly as explained in the link, but all I'm getting is the generic Androis system recov.
The Recovery zip file is on my SD card. Do I need to unzip it to get the recovery.img to show? Is that something that I'm doing wrong? I also updated the OS (I guess) from the coby site before I started working on these other changes.
So basically, this is the issue right now. Trying to get the clockwork to run and all I'm getting is the android system...and that's when it doesn't just reboot back to the home screen directly.
Any advice would be great. Thanks
And out of the blue, after an hour of angry TV watching, it's now worked. I can't tell you what I did differently as I followed all the same steps as before. Must just have been lucky I guess.
I am having the same issue, and i tried to unzip the update.zip but i boot back to the recovery mode, can someone assist me with this, i have a galaxy s (Vibrant).
thanks
Try going to your sd folder and delete the clockwork recovery folder then uninstall rom manager and redownload it from the market after it installs open up rom manager and click on flash clockworkmod recovery and let it download the update.zip file and your done

Oh yeah after all those steps and you still get back into the stock recovery system click on reinstall package and it should boot into cwm I hope that helps

IINM, for xp, you need to install mediaplayer 10 to get the mtp protocol. It should work after that.
I've just installed in Windows 7 but when I try to open 2nas i have the message that is not possible to find MSVCR100.dll. I've tried to uninstall and intsall again a couple of time but I have always the same problem. No way...

have you tried Ubuntu??
windows sometimes has a lot of problem.
If you've got a driver installed that works fine you can use Device Manager in Windows. Connect your phone, find it in the list, choose update driver, and the option that lets you choose a driver from the list. Select the driver that works (mine is called MyHTC) and it should install. You need to repeat this for eachc of the three states (adb in Android, fastboot, and adb in Recovery)

To start, I am trying to flash TeamWin Recovery to my S5 with Heimdall in order to install CM12 nightlies. I've been told elsewhere that I should try executing print-pit before actually flashing the recovery in order to test if things work instead of having the actual flash fail and brick the device. However, no matter what I try I can't get it to work. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro x64 with libusb0 drivers installed from Zadig. Below is the output of "heimdall print-pit --verbose":

I've tried switching USB cables, USB ports, reinstalling drivers, reinstalling Heimdall, wiping /cache, and rebooting. Does this mean that I can't flash? Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?

Last time I checked, which has been awhile, heimdall did not work properly for the s5. Unless something has changed you should stick with Odin. A few of the stock packages have pit files included, so if you need one they are around and I think oa6 has one too.
Hello
What is This?
Yes I know there are tons of drivers Installers around but this is more..
This is a Standalone version of the drivers installer from the SkipSoft Unified Android Toolkit.
--DRIVERS--
There are a selection of driver packages you can install to suit all devices (google, cwm universal, samsung and oneplus). There is also lots of help and information on what to do if the drivers don't work properly. A test routine/checker is available which will attempt to detect the plugged in device (and reboot to fastboot mode and back on google/nexus devices) to verify the drivers are working. Tools are also included to remove unwanted drivers if a fresh start is needed.
--ADB/FASTBOOT--
The Adb/Fastboot installer (Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.36) can install System-Wide (for all Users on the PC) or for the Current User Only. This is a very simple installer and means you do not have to download the complete SDK from google. You can also easily open a command prompt to send commands to your device.

Changelog:
1.0.3 - Added adb/fastboot latest version check at startup and download if needed
1.0.2 - Added command prompt option to menu
1.0.1 - Fixes to adb/fastboot installer
1.0.0 - Initial release
Mark.

Hey there. Thought I might ask here.
Recently updated to 7.1.1 on my Nexus 5x and now fastboot is not working. Have spent most of the day trying everything I can find on here and installing or uninstalling drivers on both my laptop and desktop with no joy.
Tried all the options within your software but no joy. Adb works ok but fastboot just will not work.
I realise this is not an issue with the software but wondering if you may know of something else to try.
36 hours now on an unrooted phone is the first time in years
Thanks
Just in case this is some use to you with your Toolkit the workaround for the fastboot issue was sorted as shown in the post below.
