I've searched high and low and I'm not able to find a non-tripping version of root. I don't want any fancy roms just rooted stock. Help.<br/>
Nope no way to keep Knox as of now.
But the root method that's out there. Will just flash a recovery and root. It's shouldn't f change the system image. (I could be wrong but last I check.)
I like to keep Knox just in case I need to exchange the phone for any reason
Whats the best method if you have a USA AT&T note edge?
Looking for a way to root without tripping Knox as well...
Someone should start a pledge thread for it, that should get the devs interested...

There is no current way to root the N915A. AT&T has it locked and so far no one has bothered to try to get it unlocked to achieve root.
Sent from my Samsung Note Edge using Tapatalk
In the same boat witha 915FY , willing to chip in if needed.
I'm sure I read it somewhere, just can't remember ATM....but there is a way to reactive Knox After rooting correct? I have the tmobile n915t.

As I understand it, KNOX flag is basically written as a "fuse". Once it's triggered, there's no going back.
And everyone, for the love of all things good and pure, AT&T and Verizon have locked bootloaders and there are NO root methods currently available. KNOX is irrelevant.
Finally, for anyone wondering about a non-KNOX-tripping method for actually ROOTABLE devices, nope. Not yet as far as I know. But why? Carriers still service phones that have the flag tripped.

In theory yes , you still get serviced but that mostly depends on the IQ of the person on the other end.
Im currently in Portugal. I took my note 3 to service and the knox was tripped . Battery Issue. They refused . I called customer service. They refused.
"If you tampered with the device, its your own fault"
I explained in other countries its still serviced , in France for example.
"this is not other countries , this is not France."
I have a 915FY now and , if possible , I would like to avoid this situation.

Hmm I see. I wasn't aware of that issue. The service centers here have seen that the KNOX flag is tripped on my devices and still serviced them. All I can say is, pretty much everything that works for the note 4 (except roms) has been compatible with the edge (including root tools, TWRP, recovery-flashable mods, system file tweaks, etc.), so if any progress is made on finding a non-KNOX-tripping method, you're gonna see it on the Note 4 forums first. I'd keep an eye on that for any updates concerning your model.
I was hoping Geohots work on TowelRoot might be adapted somehow for 4.4.4 and eventually used for Note4/edge.(it stopped working for anything over 4.4.2 i was told)
I heard hes working for google now so he cant help anymore...

Towelroot was only ever supposed to work on the S5. That it worked on anything else at all was chance. Anyways, it hasn't been updated in ages so don't hold your breath. If you really need root, I'd just go with one of the available methods. If you need it serviced, flash a stock ROM, go to a service center for your carrier, and act stupid. Don't start talking about root and all that. That has worked 100% of the time for me. When you took it in for service in the past (when they didn't service it) was your phone still rooted or have a custom recovery installed?
Hey guys, thanks in advance for your help.
I am not new to rooting, but I'm new to T-Mobile S6 G920T, so I had few questions.
Some info about the phone:
Knox status is 0 (not tripped)
SIM Locked to T-Mobile
Firmware: DOJC (g920tuvu3dojC)
I recently bought this phone refurbished, and I have hard time finding the answers I'm looking for in the forums (I've spent about 4+ Hrs in searching so far)
So my questions are:
1) Is there a "non-root" way to SIM unlock this phone? I tried using the "cable" method from unlockbase, but it looks like they can't implement the temp root method, and therefore it doesn't work
2) It doesn't look like there is currently a way to root the phone with this firmware without tripping KNOX, is this correct? Can I downgrade?
3) Is the bootloader of this phone unlocked? I see that there is an OEM Unlocking option, but some users are saying that this doesn't do anything on DOJC (The primary reason why I bought this model was the notion that T-Mobile has unlocked bootloader)?
4) What happens if I trip KNOX, it looks like I can still flash the original firmware, but the counter will still show 1+ instead of 0 - is this correct? Or rather - is there a fool-roof way to flash new firmware and reverting back to the old one with clean KNOX if needed?
Bonus Question) What is a good 6.0 Rom to flash in my case? Are there SIM Unlocked ones? What about CM13 - if I flash it, I lose TouchWiz along with some of the apps and possibly the FingerPrint scanner?
Thanks for your attention,
A.
hi
ad.4 Knox show +1 so You broke warranty - Im new on s6 (I will buy soon) so I don't look about it yet but I think You have to try find KNOX reset (De-Knoxer) or something like that.
Look on the threads about ROOT or Recovery - maybe into is the KNOX subject.
[EDIT]
Try it from THIS thread. Maybe works.
Sorry for my bad En.
No known way to revert Knox to 0, once it`s triped, there was a ping pong root available on 5.0.2, which didn`t trip knox, but 5.1.1 and later root methods always trip knox, and there is no successfull way of downgrading to 5.0.2 that I heard of.
Is root without bootloader unlock possible? I'm not sure my retailer (Czech, EU) would accept warranty claim of bootloader-unlocked device if needed... I'm aware htcdev.com says even bootloader-unlocked units are still covered under warranty, but have no idea whether this extends outside the US or to units not bought directly from HTC.
not possible
Need to pick up a few phones to play with. Since they all seem to have their own bootloaders (or do they?), should I go with Verizon, ATT, Sprint phone, or?

Virtually all models of devices from the major US carriers are going to have locked bootloader with no way to unlock them. I suggest getting the devices directly from the manufacturer or buying international non branded devices because the majority of them have unlocked bootloader or bootloader that can at least be unlocked.
If a US phone is "unlocked", does that mean the bootloader is unlocked or just unlocked for carrier use? I also hear phones directly from Samsung are locked also.

When you buy a phone that says it is unlocked, yes, it is referring to the fact that it is SIM/carrier unlocked to be used on other carrier networks.
Unlocking bootloader is a very specific procedure in order to modify the device or add/remove pieces of system level software If you're looking to use custom recovery and custom ROMs, you will definitely need to make certain that it is a model that has the bootloader already unlocked or has a stock firmware version that has a bootloader that can successfully unlocked. Typically, the older the firmware version for a specific device model number is the safest bet, the later, newer updated firmware for that specific device model number tend to have locked bootloaders. And it gets worse as the devices get newer and more improved with security features and roadblocks.
A safe bet is a Non US Google Pxel device, they are all very well supported here. Regardless of the device in question, you don't ever want anything that Verizon has to offer, period. AT&T and Sprint are just as bad.
Droidriven - Thanks for the info, thats what I have been reading, and, what makes me wonder. If I can get unlocked phones with locked bootloaders, and I am not going to mess with he bootloader, is there one "locked" bootloader better than the other?
I currently switched from OP7P to S22 ultra. In OP7P I can unlock bootloader and then when required I can just take it back to stock without any sign if bootloader was ever unlocked. Now in Samsung I was reading it is not same, once bootloader is unlocked it is for forever!
My 2 questions :
1. There is no way to make it stock like bootloader was never unlocked?
2. Suppose I unlock bootloader and root it, later if I face any problem and would like to avail warranty service, and lock bootloader again and unroot it will Samsung not provide me warranty service? Even if it is hardware issue? Anyone had personal experience with warranty after unlocking bootloader once?
1. No
2. depends on the country you are in i think

Unlocking the bootloader on Samsung triggers a feature that's built into the phone called Samsung KNOX
Once it detects the change its permanent and will void your warranty

1: If you root your device currently there is no way. So far no one has been able to bypass KNOX.
2: In some countries, local laws force Samsung to provide warranty services to rooted devices as well. But unfortunately this is not the case everywhere.
What about in EU, Poland?
Or in India?
Any idea? Or any personal experience?

I can’t tell you what the situation is in those countries, but I would suggest ask several sources.
I inquired at a local Samsung dealer about the warranty in a country where according the local law Samsung should give minimum 1 year warranty to any device they sell in the country even if the device will be rooted.
Despite this the local representative of Samsung claimed that the warranty is void if someone would root the device.
On a local forum however I read that there was someone who took back a rooted device with some hardware related issue and eventually Samsung had to replace the device because the local law.
Hey @vvvvv5 were you able to find out if you can claim hardware warranty in the countries you mentioned above.
My S22 Ultra is having a minor hardware issue.
