I got a 2022 from metropcs. put in developer mode, enabled usb debugging (and wifi).
I hooked it up and ran ADB app control and it looks like it's refusing connection?
the motog 5g works fine.. so i know it's the phone.
Also i notice it doesn't have the metropcs bloatware yet, do they get installed when ti gets activated or did they just leave it off this model?

Moto devices are very tricky, one device will work fine with a PC the next will not.
try a different cable, port, or PC...
reboot the PC, un/install USB drivers...
I'm thinking because it's not activated yet, something isn't carrier updated and software enabled yet.
OK it's working now... not sure why lol

Anyone tried connecting a USB 3G USB dongle with the G-tab? Will they work?
I'm thinking of getting one of these to put inside my G-tab if I can find a place inside that will fit.

You know, I think this might be possible.

The specs on this Android tablet (I think its the ZPad?) claim that USB 3G Modems are supported. It even lists the specific models.
EDIT: This is one of the models listed on the specs page. http://cgi.ebay.com/ZTE-CDMA-REV-A-EVDO-Modem-Model-AC-581-/330492290336?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf2e02520#ht_2134wt_1139
EDIT 2: Well I messaged zetronix through their website and left a message on their support number. We will see what kind of a response I get. ^_^
I plugged my AT&T USB 3G modem (Mercury) into the device and nothing happened. Nothing showed up in "wireless" settings. Don't think it works with TNT-Lite.
pls feel free to try your 3g sticks against my kernel offering.
pls snap some dmesgs, and give me the chip/device ids if it does not detect it, and i can add them in.
I have an air card that I will test. If I can get this working, I would be a very happy sysadmin. It shows up in dmesg, even with stock, but from there nothing.
1. Build a kernel module.
2. Configure kernel to support wired ethernet via the kernel module.
3. Insert module.
4. Configure the GTablet to use the new network interface.
I considered doing this to use my iPhone as a USB network interface, but the adhoc wireless network support from MyWi 4.0 was good enough.
That would be really cool especially with the newer 4G usb modems being offered by my carrier. But for now I simply use Wireless Tether on my rooted Droid X and use the sweet unlimited 3G to access the internet via wi-fi on my G Tablet.
Since I already have to carry the phone around and I have an unlimited data account it seemed like a good idea.

This but with my Evo... .
But I do understand how some of you get corporate data plans with those usb sticks... It would be nice for you to use
Has anyone managed to get this to work, I was at at&t today and almost got an aircard (3g Dongle) today but wanted to research a bit.
I am wondering if it is possible to hook up my phone via USB-cable to
my computer to gain access through my broadband and then via
portable wi-fi make my phone into a wi-fi AP with the same speed as
that I get from my computer instead of using my phones 3G connection
wich is much slower than my computer..
Is there any apps out there that can help me with this? And, if it is
possible, do I need to root?
My phone is a HTC Incredible S, not rooted (yet..)

I'm not actually sure. but if you root i think pda.net works for that.
Thanks alot, I tried PDAnet and it worked fine, even with unrooted phone!

And hello from America : D
i have done some research Aio Wireless (AKA att marger with cricket) Aio doesn't believe in Bootloader Unlock on there phones due to wanting to wifi tether or usb tether. Due to not able to unlock the bootloader or rooting the phone i have found a work around to be able to tether your moto g from aio wireless to your computer to be able to use it for internet. the work around is using PDANET. Pdanet (aka FoxFi) builds it self into the phone like root access but not full root access. You have to use the usb tether on the app to tether. You can get FoxFi on the google market. Purchase the licenses to be able to have full access to the app.
here are some steps to use foxfi
things needed. deleloper options enabled foxfi on android and pdanet installed on the computer (Mac or Windows)
1. download Foxfi from the google market on to the moto g
2. download pdanet from there website (Google pdanet) look for Version 4.15 click on it and download it) and install it on your computer (when installing install the moto drivers when it asks)
3. After installing both enable usb debug mode in the deleloper opions
4. Plug the phone into the computer and go to the foxfi app on the phone and enable usb tether (the drivers will enable and install on the first time used on the computer)
5. pda net will pop up on the computer saying its connecting to the phone
6. after everything done you should be able to use the usb tether on the phone via foxfi.
I will check to see if there another way to unlock the bootloader with some kinda of keygen program for the moto g from Aio Wireless. I will start a patation aio wireless to release bootloader unlocks to the moto g users.
congrats to Pdanet to making a work around. FoxFi works with other android phones. be sure to use a VPN on your phone when using tethering. look for free vpn on the app market.
Props man. This is good cause the limitation Aio wireless puts on their phone is really annoying. Also, it kills me I still havent been able to root this phone so any assistance would be most appreciated.

The work around I found still stands as the same. Aio wireless is a good company to have I think it beats everyone else for value. The best thing I could say is buying a phone off of ebay or localy that rooted unlocked and custom rom. I am using the first Samsung note 1 on aio wireless works great but I am sure aio hates it. I am still looking for a root way to be able to unlock the full pational. The Samsung galaxy express with aio wireless has the bootloader locked so you cant do tethering. best thing if you wanna use the galaxy express look for the att version on ebay that unlocked. the bootloader on that version remains to be unlocked so you install custom roms.
..
Bit of an old post, but I thought I'd give my experience as I have the RT-AC66R which is basically the same thing with AC.
Just about any Android that supports MTP should work. If you live in an area with LTE, make sure you get a device that supports it. I tether using my HTC One M7. Make sure to install the latest firmware for the router. Mine had real trouble when I updated the phone to 4.3. I just recently got the router working again.
Also make sure you get the unlimited data plan. Otherwise you'll be hitting the throttle limit within a few days.
I've found this question in my search but not found legitimate working answer yet. Previously the tethering provision through xposed worked on my S7 Active, but after rooting and flashing the S7 the lag was pretty bad and I had never resolved that issue. I hope I have posted this to the correct area, if not, I am sorry, I'm not the best when it comes to using forums and threads to ask questions. For now, the main thing I want is to enable tethering hotspot on this awesome thing. I've tried Foxfi registered from my S2 days and PDAnet, but had no success.
Thanks.
I just got my unlocked s10+ today that I'm using on sprint so I went back through my old posts to find this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-s7-edge/how-to/hotspot-bypass-nougat-ok-t3563446
I still had adb and fastboot still on the pc so I tried and got an adb server error.
I downloaded and installed the latest Kies http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201507/20150710153808522/Kies3Setup.exe
Tried it again and got the adb shell and commands entered. Everything looks like it was successful. I connected another phone to the hotspot.
Hope that helps.

Does this hack work for the s10+? I'm thinking about picking it up from Amazon for Prime day. its Factory Unlocked phone. My S9+ apparently can't hacked to allow tethering. I'm have an unlimited data plan as I've been with verizon for over 10 years.
Thanks in Advance!
How do you get 5ghz tethering, this article says that you can change it but my phone won't allow me to.
