Question Work Profile Missing "Auto lock work profile" setting on Pixel 7 Pro - Google Pixel 7 Pro

This is probably a bit of a naive question for the advanced crowd here, but I could use some help in determining if I am just missing something obvious.
My company uses MobileIron MDM to manage work profiles on devices. On my S21 Ultra, there is a setting in work profile security called "Auto lock work profile" where you can choose a timeout before your work profile will lock and require a re-auth of some kind (fingerprint, password, whatever).
On my Pixel 7 Pro I noticed this setting is conspicuously missing. The effect is that every time my screen locks, and I then open a work app after unlocking my device, I also need to unlock the work profile again. This is pretty annoying and greatly impacts the usability of the work profile on the Pixel.
Both devices are running Android 13 (OneUI 5 on the S21), so my gut feeling is that this is one of those custom Samsung/Knox enterprise features that isn't part of Google's vanilla implementation of work profiles. I am hoping the community here can confirm my suspicion, in which case I'll probably have to return the Pixel and be bound to Samsung.
Also, yes I am aware that "One Lock" would probably solve this, but it's unfortunately disabled by my MDM, so not an option for me.
Appreciate any feedback.

I recently purchased Pixel 7 and observed the same thing. Your company server is probably is set to require re-entering Work profile passcode every few days but only Samsung devices recognizes that setting. Other device types will be forced to enter passcode after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Disable locking

Is there a way to keep the phone from not locking the screen and asking for my PIN number?
My employer is forcing me to install a certificate to be able to connect to the exchange server at work. And with this certificate comes a security policy that forces me to use the PIN-code lock. Furthermore the time setting for the lock is hardcoded to be as small as one minute.
This is way to short to be reasonable and I'm about to go nuts from having to enter my PIN-code over and over again.
So, is there an application out there that can solve my problem?
Like a G-sensor app that keeps the device alive as long as I'm having it in my hand and thus moving it?
Or perhaps a tweak or hack that can make me get at least 3 or 5 minutes before the device locks up...
Some advice would be appreciated!
I have the same problem. maybe there is a way to extend the locking time to more than 10 min!?
my company enforces 10 minutes, the problem with that is that even while driving and using tomtom it keeps locking!!!
Would love a work around for this, i dont mind it locking (i'd use this feature anyway), but it's stupid that it still forces a lock while using tomtom, how stupid!
Just in case u didn't find a solution yet. There is a small app that monitors the registry and prevents the locking. U only have to unlock the device like once a day. The name of the app is StayUnlock and u can check it here:

[Q] Encryption policy versus fingerprint reader

Personal user, not a phone that touches a business/corporation.
Apparently the somewhat easily spoofed fingerprint reader is rated as medium security.
Encryption implements the high security profile.
Would it be theoretically possible to alter these policies? (Likely via custom ROM?)
Scenarios:
Say if perhaps Home User A desperately wants encryption and a boot password, but once at the lock screen is fine with just a fingerprint. (Particularly since most phone thieves in Home User A's area seem to turn off the phone as the first step in purloining the thing.)
Or, Home User B wishes for the same, but wants to take it a step further and at the lock screen require both a fingerprint and short password.
If theoretically possible, anyone done it yet?
Interested in whether this is possible too.
I've been playing with the settings.db according to this thread, but still have yet to find a sufficient way to do it. I'm thinking that if there's a way to alter the "security level" that each authentication method registers as, then we should be able to re-enable the fingerprint reader for encrypted devices. I'm not sure about adding a 2-factor auth method yet. I know the new NFC lock screen is supposed to be 2-factor, but I don't know how they achieved that.

This does sound promising! And I concur with your assessment.

I am vaguely familiar with NFC, but have not had occasion for usage so I am unfamiliar with this new lock screen.

Smart unlock

Is anyone else having trouble with getting this feature to work? I have my android watch paired, and my home set as a trusted zone, but still have to enter my pin every time.
Works fine with my watch and car. I don't use location based, so I can't comment there.
This is an android feature I beleive. The "home" location address never worked on my s5. So I never bothered with it on this note5. So I just used the other options.
On another note (pun) samsung has a widget that will display apps based on where you are, and you can set that up with wifi networks! Which is so much better. Hopefully either they, or google, move in this direction.
On another note (pun#2) there's always tasker.
I have the watch and home location function working on Note 4

[Q] Using watch with SmartLock

I have a Note 4 with Smart Lock. I wanted to set it up so that my watch can keep my phone from locking. I added the device to SmartLock successfully. Even if my watch is sitting right next to the phone, it is not unlocking it. I use a PIN. Is there anything else that I need to do, or is this just not going to work.
Thanks
I was looking for an answer to that too. I tried and it did not work at all.
I use tasker for lots of things, but I could never get it working with this. I have a task set up to unlock the phone if the bluetooth is connected to the Gear S2. Even when my connection is just fine, tasker doesn't see the connection and never unlocks the phone.
I use Gear s2 from Tmobile with my Note 4 with no problems. When locked I use patern not pin if that makes any difference. Running lollipop 5.1.1 , no root, latest gear manager from play store.
It is added to my trusted devices
This might be a misunderstanding on my part about how this is supposed to work. I have a PIN set up, and when I have my watch connected, it doesn't require the PIN. It just puts up the screen that I have to swipe. I expected that it wouldn't put up the swipe screen at all. I don't want it to, but can't find a way around it. I tried setting up tasker to disable the lock, but it didn't work. Apparently tasker doesn't know when the watch is connected. It does work for my bt headset.
I don't think it can be done. It looks like smart lock removes requirement for any kind password but doesn't remove screen lock altogether.

If you have one of those flip cases, it does unlock automatically. Other than that, I don't know a way around it.

Same issue here. Guessing a 2 part app (specific to s2 and android) might be able to solve the problem. The s2 app would communicate with the android app (not sure if background communication is possible for s2 apps though). Upon a cut in connection, the android app would trigger the lockscreen.
Thoughts?

I've never understood the need for that. When I don't have security on my phone, I have always just shut it off. An extra swipe accomplishes nothing.
Before the gear, I was using tasker to unlock my phone when connected to my wifi and when my bluetooth headset was on. I'd carry it with me, turned on, and my phone would not lock at all. It was flawless. Never saw the lock screen and never had to enter my PIN.
I might just go back to that, as the extra screen is really annoying and serves no purpose. I just have to remember to always have my BT headset turned on and on me. I always have my watch, but always seem to forget the headset.
I wish I knew why tasker doesn't recognize the the connection to the watch. My settings clearly show that the phone is connected to the watch, so it should recognize the connection, but doesn't. I don't know how much support tasker is getting any longer. I saw something about the developer having to take a break because of medical issues. There are now many other automation apps out there. Maybe I'll give some of them a try and see if one of them will accomplish what I am able to accomplish with tasker and my wifi/bluetooth headset.
When I add the watch to SmartLock, I get the following message:
Smart Lock can't detect the security features of this device. To help protect your phone, Gear S2 (393A) will only be able to keep your phone unlocked once it's already unlocked by you. Your Gear S2 (393A) can keep your phone unlocked when it's nearby, even if someone else is holding it.
Not sure what that means or what it does to the unlocking feature.
I don't know much about tasker but one time I played with tasker plugin called trigger. Maybe that can be help for you. It is possible that tasker looking for certain Bluetooth profiles being active and since gear s2 has no speaker there is not headset or headphone profile. On my gear s2 3g Bluetooth shows call audio profile.

Bluetooth Smart Unlock using Garmin smart watch

Hi all,
i just got my Mi Mix 2S, great phone so far. What I miss is the possibillity to keep it unlocked when I am wearing my Garmin smart watch. With my previous phones, I could use the Smart Unlock feature, the phone would not be locked if my watch was in the vicinity. Now the Mi Mix Settings 'Unlock with bluetooth device' finds the Garmin watch (somtimes), but I cannot pair the devices. The phone prompts me to push a button on the device. With my previous phones, I did not have to push a button to set the watch as a smart unlock device.
My understanding it is a Miui restrictrion. Is this really true? Would installing a different rom support smart unlock?
Or are there workarounds (Apps, etc.) to enable Smart unlock, maybe even for trusted wifi networks?
Thanks in advance
Steffen
Global stable offered me the option to add my watch as a smartlock device but I have to disable google from the trust agents so my watch doesnt lose internet connection after a while(sounds strange, I know but it is like it is..). Actually keeping it unlocked became pretty useless with fingerprint and faceunlock(in my opinion). Maybe you get used to it too I'm pretty sure you can disable the lockscreen while connected to a specific wifi with tasker... I mean you can do anything with tasker
My Xiaomi smart watch unlocked my phone. Actually annoying, as i started dialing people from my pocket more easily.
Given fingerprint and face recognition, it's kind of pointless.
I'm on miui 10 - 8.9.20
Hi, thanks for your replies.? Face unlock works pretty well, even for my face. Will use that from now on. As described elsewhere, I had to change the region to India to make it work. Changing the region back to Germany disabled face unlock. Hope this will be fixed in future versions.
Cheers
Certain features need India as a regional setting. Its because Xiaomi want to avoid patent trolls and law suits but also want to sell their devices worldwide
Solved
Hi all, just an update how to fix the issue. I do get the notification on my smartwatch. I changed the Battery saving settings to "No restrictions" for the Garmin Connect App. It seems that this prevents the loss of connection between the smartwatch and the phone. The default setting was Energy Saving Mode. I found this tip in a German Android forum.
If your smart watch also uses an app to syncronize the data, you might want to try this tip. The menu path is Settings -> Battery and Performance -> Select app -> then choose the respective app.
The smart unlock feature only works with Xiaomi devices. Very annoying
