Question about N986N - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hi, By some miracle, I bought a note 20 ultra 5g of the Korean version, although it was indicated that it was on exynos, but i found snapdragon. In principle, I do not regret the purchase, but it would be better if Samsung Pay would be unlocked. I tried to change the csc to some other values (SER, WWD, KOO) via the samfw tool (not samkey because it's not supported). I got an error about failed exploit. Maybe it's because I have one ui 5.
So my question is: is it possible to unlock spay for my region?

I just bought mine awhile ago, from my experienced, you have to downgrade sm-n986n to android 10 first before you could change the CSC to KOO.

I recommend to extract Android 10 and 13 to their respective directories to avoid any problems occurring with files confusion.
1. Power off your phone, then press Volume Up+Down(at the same time, still hold them) insert your USB cable to your computer, after that you can now release your device. Instructions screen appears, press Volume Up to continue.
2. Flashing android 10. Insert BL,... , CSC(Not Home CSC) into their respective option in Odin.

Thank you for response, but can i change region to SER? Or it will give only some list of available regions for this phone? Like
KTC | LUC | SKC | KOO | WWD

I have tried to flash other regions, yet without success. After googling around, I stumbled upon various informations that solved the mysterious of the Note series. Samsung has designed differently for both Korea and U.S device. So, there is no luck in flashing different regions. An important note, your device might become paperweight if you're forcefully flash different regions Rom.
Maybe, there're some legends out there who could make it happen someday.

A7 (2018) Can I flash SM-A750FN/DS with firmware from SM-A750GN/DS ?

Hello people
Can I flash SM-A750FN/DS with firmware from SM-A750GN/DS via Odin 3.13.1 or other flash tool?
Is this trips knox or not?
I need it to enable internal call recording in the phone.
Because of GDPR my european phones (Note 10+, Note 9 and Note8, S10+, S10e, Fold, Z flip and other ) can not record calls.
Internal recorder is enabled for Thailand and because phone have MULTI-CSC which includes THL CSC, so I just use Thailand SIM card to switch CSC via factory reset to THL and recording works great for all these models.
My friends phone Samsung Galaxy A series A7 (2018) SM-A750FN/DS do NOT have THL in its multi-csc, and I found the THL is in the model SM-A750GN/DS.
As I see the phones are identical just F and G letteres differs.
Currently FN phone is with 3BRK2 - so boot 3rd, android 9, from 2019, December, fw edition 2
I download GN firmware with is 5BTA1 - so boot 5th, android 9 from 2020, January, fw edition 1
For what I know there is no problem from boot 3rd to boot 5th but the models are diffrent FN and GN?
* * *
Any other way to use internal call recording? (Some people talks about XID CSC_HOME flash only.)
Best regards,
Cho
I'm not sure because I always use the right firmware model.
Same queston, I have SM-A750FN, can I flash Android 10 frimware from SM-A750F or SM-A750GN with Odin or I need to wati for for FN?
Here's the released frimware:
https://samfrew.com/download/Galaxy__A7__/mm38/INS/A750FXXU4CTBC/A750FODM4CTBC/
Just wait a couple days to the official release for this model. I wouldn't recommend you to do that because in some Android 10 firmwares for A7 (2018) the bootloader has been updated, making impossible to go back to Pie, so if anything doesn't work well you won't be able to do a rollback. And remember that this phone has different variants with different specs.
Be patient, it will arrive soon.
Can i flash csc of samsung a750f on a750gn??
Basically i need call recording which is not supported in 750gn , but available in 750f..

SM-N9860 improvements

Hi guys,
I've got the brand new SM-N9860 (Note 20 Ultra 5G) that is TGY/TGY, TGY. This is Hongkong version of the firmware. It lacks two features I used to - native call recording and network speed indicator at the top. I've migrated to CHC (Open China) version and got both
Also CHC version looks much cleaner - you can uninstall all that China software and it has no Google software as sell (no Google Play etc.).
How to do it (no root required, Knox is intact etc., but phone will be factory reset):
1. You need to downgrade from lates TGY to July BRI (yes, BRI) version of the firmware (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nge-csc-sm-n9860-ds-n20u-5g-hongkong-t4163363)
2. After BRI is installed and up, download the latest CHC (I used Frija - https://github.com/SlackingVeteran/frija, use "CHC" for CSC field)
3. Using ODIN (3.14.4), write the firmware (here some tips - https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...to/ath3-official-stock-fw-updateodin-t4143909), use CSC_... for CSC (not HOME)
Now I have the call recording and network speed indicator out of the box
Tested some sensitive apps: Android Auto - works fine (checked with a car). Google Pay - works fine.

Wait a minute....
Are you suggesting to...
A) Move from Latest TGY ROM (in my case ATJ1) to July BRI firmware ATGM.... right?
B) Now when July BRI (Taiwanese) Firmware is Flashed and phone is running. You are suggesting to download latest CHC (Open China) firmware and flash ONLY CSC (OF CHINESE FIRMWARE CHC) and not the rest of 2 files AP & CP??
Does a CSC of other region work with AP Firmware of another region if the phone model remains same (SM-N9860)??
Will it unlock native call recording and other features?
Will it update in future as well?
If it updates then will the CSC be updated aswell? And it remains CHC or revert back to BRI?
Please guide us through.
I am asking this because I already did migrate to CHC firmware two weeks ago and I didn't had to goto July BRI. I was at August TGY firmware and I simply flashed the CHC firmware and got Native call recording and that network indicator too but then there was heaps of bloatware and all Firmware actually was for Chinese people with everything in chines, samsung member, no Netflix, no samsung pass, many thing in Chinese, country name of phone numbers in Chinese, difference in phone number formats and many more. It was so irritating so I switched back to TGY.
Please tell us of you have some different experience or work around. I need my phone to keep updating as well.

A - correct
B - no, you need to flash all the components (BL, AP etc.). I had "TGY/TGY, TGY", now I have "CHC/CHC, CHC/TGY"
You can't update CSC only (ODIN will show the error and will not proceed)
With CHC you have all the OTA features. I'm sure that after the update you'll keep CHC.
Actually, the only drawback of the CHC I've noticed to date - "Yellow pages" tab and country name in the Phone app (but I prefer True Phone, so it doesn't matter). All the bloatware can be uninstalled (moreother - TGY installs Google apps, that I don't use like Photo etc.), keyboard should be switched to Swiftkey or Samsung. I've downloaded Netflix apk (from 4pda) and it works well. I see no single reason to switch back to TGY or BRI.
The only item to be checked left is Android Auto in a car (it could be a stumbling block).
If you like TGY, you can try the following trick - write CHC (it has OZL CSC - N9860OZL1ATI3), after that use SamKEY to change CSC to TGY (it should work with OZL, and doesn't work with OZS), after that use ODIN to write TGY (except CSC), and after that - revert back CSC from TGY to CHC using SamKEY. I haven't tried it, just an idea.

Thanks for the detail, my only and only requirement is native call recording. I am brewing with ACR with poor quality recordings, otherwise I love TGY

I'm sure it has been mentioned time and time again that the Snapdragon models of the N20U doesn't have esim activated by default. Only Samsung can activate it. They did not do it on the S20 Snapdragon series and I don't think they will on the N20.

I searched on numerous thread, but didnt find any information in regards to HK version, and i do need info for this specific model.
////////
All Galaxy S20 phones (S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra) have the required hardware built-in.
But in a few regions, and in a few carrier models, the eSIM support was disabled. For this reason, we did not include eSIM support as a top 5 new features of Galaxy S20.
So, Galaxy S20 is eSIM-capable. But it may be disabled in the firmware by a few distributors or carriers."

BRI, TGY, CHC do not support Esim as none of the snapdragon versions has esim activated, thanks to Samsung.
Confirming - no eSim support on TGY, BRI (October update) and CHC (September update)
Just to add,the HK models are dual physical sim not eSim. Folks chasing something that doesn't exist lol.

Hello to everyone,
I have followed Andriy_ 's procedure and now I am experimenting the good and the bad of CHC ROM. The only very annoying problems I am getting are with Google Maps continuously crashing after getting the right GPS position, Google Pay not working at the end of the certification of a credit card and one of my 3 bank's accounts apps saying that it is not compatible with my phone (Safety Net Check fails ("Basic integrity" and "CTS Profile Match")). Everything was obviously working like a charm with original (Hong Kong) rom. I think that there is no solution, maybe Google does not certify chinese ROMs....Any help?

You don't need to do step 1. You can flash directly to a CHC room. That's what I did before.

Yes, because this specific room is not google certified, a requirement to use secured google services. This is one of the reasons that made me go back to TGY/BRI. Also it doesn't have the Samsung Pass and you can't get rid of the Chinese yellowpage service in the phone app (unless you use 3rd party phone app as the default).

Yes, downloaded from a well known and reliable APK repository (Google Play Store, Play Services and Framework)
I've installed Play market only. Maybe this is the difference?

Can i Update N9700 TGY (HK Android 10) to N970W XAC (Canada Unlocked Android 11)?

I bought my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 N9700 from ebay and I live in France. The CSC code for the phone is TGY and it is still on Android 10.
Can I upgrade the phone firmware to the canada unlocked version which is on Android 11?
Both versions are for snapdragon so I am guessing it is okay?
Thanks for your help.
Why do you want do that, android 11 for SM N9700 is also put. If you didn't get it OTA ,just connect the phone to your PC and run Samsung switch. It should auto detect the update for you

How To Guide Guide to root Galaxy S22 Ultra (B/E/N/0), unlock bootloader and flash official firmware (noob friendly)

Code:
Your warranty is now void.
If you root your device, Your KNOX status will be tripped.
You can still pass the safety net after you root if you follow the instructions.
Sorry for USA models, you can't root unless you can unlock your bootloader
You will lose ALL your data if you unlock your bootloader. Do back up your data.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, or dead SD cards although it is not possible
Please do some research if you have any concerns about doing this to your device
How to flash official firmware? (not the root and unlock bootloader part!)
You will need:
A Galaxy S22 Ultra and common sense
Samsung Odin (the flashing tool of the official firmware)
https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin3-v3.14.1.zip
You need to extract the zip file and you are going to use the file Odin3_v3.14.1.exe inside the folder.
Samsung Android USB Driver for Windows
Samsung Android USB Driver | Samsung Developers
You need the driver only if you are developing on Windows and want to connect a Samsung Android device to your development environment over USB.
developer.samsung.com
Double-click and install the exe file.
Optional: If you just want to change CSC, /efi/imei/mps_code.dat is where you can edit after rooting the phone
Replace the CSC you would like to be in the file
If you like to download the firmware of your carrier, follow the instructions bellow

Transfer AP_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5 in the firmware you download from your PC/Laptop to your phone.
Open Magisk on your phone and press the install button in the Magisk column. Select 'Select and Patch a File', 'Let's Go and find the AP_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5 and select it. You can have a cup of coffee if you like when you waiting for the patching of the file.
After finishing the patching, transfer the file magisk_patched-24xxx_xxxxx.tar in the Downloads folder back to your PC/Laptop.
Turn off your phone. Connect a side of your USB to your PC/Laptop, and keep pressing volume up and down together until you go to Download Mode. Put another side of the USB into your phone. When you arrive at Download Mode press volume up. Open Odin3_v3.14.1.exe on your PC/Laptop:
Click on BL and select BL_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
-Click on AP and select magisk_patched-24xxx_xxxxx.tar
-Click on CP and select CP_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
-Click on CSC and select CSC_OMC_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
Optional again: add PIT file if you have to repartition
When it finishes flashing, it will automatically reboot and you can gain root access.
Optional: If you want to have the safety net passed (most of the banking apps use it), then you need to install the zip
as a Magisk module in Magisk https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix/releases
How? Go to Magisk → Modules → install from storage and select the zip you downloaded.
How to update the system without losing roots and data?
Download the new firmware of the phone and update the Magisk App if it is not up to date. Unzip the firmware you download and transfer the AP file to your phone. Patch your AP file and transfer it back to your PC (in /sdcard/Download)
Power off the phone and reboot to Download mode
Open Odin and put the new magisk_patched file in the AP slot, the BL and CP from your new firmware into their respective slots and importantly *HOME_CSC* into the CSC slot.
Press start and let Odin do its stuff.
When flashed, do not wipe.
Press and hold Vol-down and Power
As soon as the screen appears, let go of all buttons.
Within moments without any further user intervention your phone will reboot into your updated Magisk rooted mode, data intact.

I have a look at the internet and I think maybe you will need some service like that https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/sampwnd-usa-model-bl-unlock-info-u-u1-w.4201689/ if you cannot unlock the bootloader by following the guide
My s22ultra is SM-S908B EUX and I want to flash the Indonesian XID firmware which is OLE and SM-S908E. Is this possible?

Looks like Samsung changed some things there. XID firmware was available for flashing to my ex - S21 ultra . Now , in S22 ultra, I see different types of regions (SM-S908E and SM-S908B).

emmm... i'm not really sure about it now. maybe you can have a try then
[edit]: I have a look at the internet and I think it is all right if you use firmware of a different model. Of course, the spec should be similar/the same

Yeah, but I'm afraid. I would not like to brick the phone. Except the all procedure stops from Odin and avoid bricking.

you won't likely brick your device because I have taken a look and both devices are identical. So, I think it is fine to flash

This is great! Thanks ! Because XID ( Indonesian) firmware supports fully native call recording. Samsung's OTA updates are also available every month.

I just made a research to the internet and I found that SM-S908E is probably different variant from SM-S908B .
SM-S908E is a snapdragon edition while SM-S908B is Exynos.
So , I think I cannot flash XID firmware for snapdragon edition to an Exynos version
I'm sad now

Oh, sorry. I haven't noticed about the SoC. The SoC in Europe is Snapdragon. So I don't think you should change it.
If you just want to change CSC, /efi/imei/mps_code.dat is where you can edit. Both firmware is the same except the CSC, no difference between them
My preordered s22u will come with snapdragon (sm-s9080 BRI ), I will use CHC csc, also like to have call recording.

I come from a xiaomi mi 9t pro so I am kind of a noob when it comes to new Samsung stuff.
To me it seems that Samy still makes its phones run slower with every update so I want to revert back and debloat it.
Also is there any other steps that I need to follow if I can flash it besides the :
Turn on USB debugging - Reboot into download mode - Connect cable - Select BL - Ap - CSC.... Corresponding files, In Odin - Start?
Any help would be appreciated.
As long as it's signed firmware and the significant digit is the same or higher than the bootloader version, you can flash it.
Thx a lot for your help.
I checked the bootloader number and everything went OK.
I took the original firmware from Sammobile and flashed it with Odin.
