General US Watch 4 Non-LTE Update R860XXU1GVK4 with Nov 1 Security Patch is out. - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

MY US based Watch 4 Non-LTE just received the U1GVK4 update today 11/11/22 - I again checked for updates for my AT&T LTE Watch 4 Classic, but there's no update available. It is still at the U1GVH2 release. Nothing new to report with U1GVK4 so far, but this is likely an update to fix the bricking issue that some experienced with U1GVI3 "A power operation-related stabilization code has been applied."

Uggg...just read that even the new update that fixed the issue is causing same problem for some...be careful peeps.

Mine is working JUST fine...think I'll hold off.

I installed with no issues. Did get a scare at first when the Samsung logo came up about three times before it went on to boot. Also took a bit longer to boot and setup. Once it did, all was well.

Fingers crossed.

Mine working 100% after this update.

Mine also working after today's update, I did charge my watch to 100% before starting the installation process and after installation my phone did boot loop twice that scared the hell out of me, then I immediately connected it to charger just to ensure watch has enough charge left, but luckily as soon as i connected it to charger the watch booted normally...phew!!!

Just updated my watch. It is bricked. Screen is black, pressing any of the buttons does nothing. Had 70% battery before the update.
I think I'm done with Samsung for good. What a shame.
If some1 was able to recover from this state, please share.

worked good!

Happy to hear. Truly.

Bricked mine! 100% battery prior to update.

NOT updating mine. It's working fine, so why bother.

Mine is force installing so wish me luck!
edit: Gave me a heart attack because it bootlooped 3 times but it thankfully didn't get bricked

LOL, mine did the same thing. Today I had an issue with charging. The watch just refused to charge even though it says it was charging. I rebooted the watch and all is well.

AT&T Software Update Ruined my One-X!!

K, let me start out saying this phone is nothing but pure evil. I have gone through 4 since I got my first on June 9th. 1 has been my fault.
With my latest one, I got my replacement, synced all my apps, and did the software update. When it rebooted I got a symbol that had a phone with a red triangle with the exclamation point in it. Then all of my screen animations stopped working and all I got was an illuminated black screen. I restarted it maybe 5 times and all I had was the initial HTC screen with the brown bar that keeps refilling, then the screen goes black. I don't understand what happened because I had updated my previous One-X and it was fine (save for the Wi-fi problem). I didn't install any new apps either. Any help or is it unfixable?

If it's a new replacement and you haven't done anything else other than what you mentioned here, take it back and get a new one because it looks like it got hosed during the update process.

No need to return it, the same exact thing happened to my wife's phone and after ordering a replacement over the weekend, I found a fix. Go to HTC's website and download the newest update. You have to manually install the update. You also have to download HTC Sync manager. The file is in the area of 560MB, and takes 10-15 minutes to update on your phone. The tricky part is since you can't see the screen you have to power down by holding the power button for 10 seconds. If it's like my wife's phone, you will see the white HTC screen and hear the AT&T chime but the screen is black, right? It may take a few tries for the program to recognize your phone as it did mine, but once it does, it re-writes everything on the phone. Also doing this method unforunately you lose everything. Let me know how this works out for you. Here is the direct link to the software upgrade.
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-x-att/software-updates
You can download the RUU from HTC's website and run it.

Other than that, take it back.

[Q] Bricked S3. SWA Failed. Phone is stock! glitchy boot screen [w/pics]

Hey Guys,
I have a peculiar problem with my girlfriend's phone. I've been stumped for almost a week now trying to unbrick her phone without making an attempt to root to try other things, but here's the scenario:
Phone is completely stock.
One day she came home and her phone was stuck at the Verizon screen.
I'm not sure what version was her Rom prior to the brick, but the phone recently told her there was an update about a month ago. She installed the other updates prior to this one.
I ultimately ended up performing a factory reset, and a cache wipe from the recovery, and it still wouldn't get past the Verizon Splash Screen.
I then used the Verizon Repair Assistant as suggested by many members on the forum, and it looked good for a second. It started updating all the apps, and survived past the splash screen, and into the welcome screen to get started. I started the activation process and boom, the phone reboots itself. I noticed something strange about the boot screen though. It started to look like it's glitching out.

This one is like VZW's version of the Nyan Cat! Ha.
I then tried the Odin route, Installing VZW-I535VRUCNC1-20140430102617 onto the phone. Same result.
The last thing i tried while writing this thread was removing the AIM, and attempting the no activation WiFi, which it ultimately did take me back into the phone...
I moved fast enough where I was taken back into the UI, but I would see errors like
"Unfortunately Samsung Keyboard has Stopped"
I was able to swipe around on the screen for a bit before it froze, but the weird thing is when i press on the softkeys, I could still hear the water drop sounds. Then it would either go back through it's boot looping, or it would shut down. Pressing the power button won't work here, and only a battery pull would allow it to go through the boot cycle again.
I feel like a noob still, even after being able to successfully root 3 generations of the Samsung Galaxy Phones, (Epic, S3, and S5.) but I'm totally stumped on this one.
Seems like something is locking it up,
Any help would be appreciated, and if you are local (Silicon Valley, Bay Area), I'll buy you a coffee, or a beer. hah. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance!
Anyone?

[Fixed] "HBO Screen" of death

Well, I have now the same screen on my N5

Taking a screenshot with the built-in function, I get everything correctly
(Actually, quite difficult to unlock the pattern when can't see anything)
The phone is rooted, TWRP 2.7.1.1 installed, Stock ROM, KitKat 4.4.4
Could be co-incident, but the problems started short after installing KitKat 4.4.4
When updating to 4.4.4, I only flashed Radio, System and Boot.
I didn't flash Cache and Bootloader (basically because Bootloader same as previous).
Is the problem related to not flashing cache and bootloader or a hardware problem of the glass?
Sometimes, if I don't touch the mobile, the screen returns to normal, but now, even when I boot to the bootloader, I still have the "HBO Screen"
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Cheers
Tom
I love the fact you've called it the HBO Screen. Real Imaginative!
However, unfortunately, it's a hardware issue. The screen or the Flex cable have gone bad and it/they needs to be replaced.
You were right, it was the cable.
Went to LG service partner and 30 minutes later it was fixed.
Cheers

Woah! That was quick
First went to LG, they told me they have to send to their service partner, can't fix the same day
Luckily only a 20 minute drive so I went there personally.

I always get this after boot for about a half second I think while it runs the color gamma code. It's my favorite part of the bootup I wish it lasted longer. How can I get your feature OP???

I love doing that to UPS. Oh, you just got a package in from Washington that's for me but you're going to let it sit in the warehouse for 4 days because I didn't pay for 3 day shipping???

Just play a little bit with your internal flex cable (I mean mobile ) then you have it random and longer
However, it can be pretty annoying when u turn on the screen and have this TV noise copy

Could do with a little help, I think my N5 is dead

Hi all...
I think my N5 is buggered.
I was at a festival this weekend and my phone battery ran out so I left it in my bag for more of the weekend. On the drive back it was working fine as I was using GPs, making calls, using Gplay without any problems. As my GF wanted to charge her phone mine ran out again by the time I got home and I went to charge it as it was down to 2% but when I plugged the charger in it would not charge. It would start charging for a second then stop for a second and then start again. So I unplugged it and went to give it a re-boot and the screen came back on corrupted like this -

I have holding the volume down and power button to get to the fast boot menu and the screen does the same thing but this time while i'm holding it the screen with turn on and off wile vibrating 5-6 times before turning off.
I have even tried using fastboot to flash the recovery image onto the phone and it says everything has worked but again I get the corrupeted screen when I reboot.
Anyone seen or know of this problem? Or is it what I expect and it's got a hardware issue and needs to get repaired?
Thanks in advanced for any help or suggestions.

It's a problem with the flex cable, the screen, or possibly the motherboard.
A few people have had this issue.

Lethargy,
I had a feeling it was going to be a hardware issue. Thank you so much for the help... I'll get it sorted under my insurance then and get myself a temporary phone until then.

blank screen

hey guys,
any of you had an issue with the screen going blank and never coming back on until the watch is rebooted? ( I have ambient screen on)
everything is still functioning, phone detects it as connected, i get vibration for notifications and can even get screenshots from the watch using the android wear app.
using stock watchfaces, not installed anything yet, only setup android pay, since i only intend to use for notifications and android pay.
this is really frustrating, it's happened 4 times within the first 24 hours...

if you can't touch and wake the device, you may need to send it for RMA. Do not waste time in testing, even it is a software issue. Let them fix it for you or simply replace it.

thanks, yeah that's what I was thinking too. just wondering if this was a common issue.
I'm based in hk too lol, just past the 7 day direct exchange period so i guess i'll just have to wait for a repair.

It is acceptable if the watch is loaded with many software. But not normal if it is freshly setup. You may try the official rom here and see if it is okay.
I have this problem now.
Screen sometimes starts working at random for a short while but goes back to blurry.

Mine also goes blank occasionally and only reboot helps, but it's so random, and maybe once a week? so I won't even bother sending for warranty because they might send it back saying that it's not happening to them.
Yesterday it happened while I was tracking my workout so that's a bummer but happily I was able to continue after reboot.
p.s.
I'm using always on display.
