Question Android Auto - Xiaomi Mix Fold 2

Hello friends,
I have installed AA module, set permissions but when I connect to car (usb a to type c) I get the popup menu, hit next and then my car console says "connected" for 3 seconds and then says to reconnect device. Is there something that I'm missing?

USB Connection menu gone!

Hi.
I'm using the TP for quite some time now without too much hassle, but one thing annoys me.
For a few days the selection menu is gone when you connect your TP to USB. Normally it pops up a screen to select ActiveSync, FlashDrive or Internet Sharing mode.
Now, it just uses the last selection and I've never switched on the "Don't ask me again" button.
I've found the USB to PC settings which do about the same, but even if I switch on "Ask about connection type when I connect" it just doesn't. And then, I like the TouchFLO popup better.
Anyone a suggestion on how to get the selection screen back?
Thanks a bunch!
If you go to parameters, connexion, Usb parameters, you need to activate :
- Activesync (synchronise with Outlook)
- Activate the functionnality advanced netwerk
- Ask the type of connexion when connected
Same here.
im too afraid to tick the dont ask again box insase i cant find it again. it does sometimes not appear though
Perhaps the USB cable you use is not optimal.
Do you try also with the original one??
As strange as the menu disappeared, it was there again yesterday all of a sudden.
It appears "fixed" but I must agree, it doesn't show every time... Definately...

[Solved] Every time i connect my TP via usb, it connects to the Internet

Hi, i set "usb to pc" connection to "USB disk" but every time i connect my touch pro via usb to pc, it automatically starts "internet sharing" and connects to the web...
What can i do to fix it? i can't pay 1€ every time i connect my phone to PC
Thanks
open up settings, then tab over to connections and enter in to the "USB to PC".
check the box that says "ask me first about my usb connection...".
you might need to soft reset your phone after this. i had to do it to mine.
Thanks, you drove me to the solution.
Here is the reason of the problem:
When you go to "USB to PC" and check the box "ask me first about my usb connection...", next time you select an option from the menu (the gray one that pops up when you insert the USB cable in your phone) it becomes a kind of default. So i selected "internet sharing", and every time i connected myphone it started internet sharing.
The solution was:
1- go to settings\connection\USB to PC
2- select ask me first about my usb connection
3- connect phone via usb
4- grey menu pops up, select "usb disk" (2nd option) and press "Close"
5- remove cable, put in again
6- everything is fine now
The strange thing is that if you go to settings\connection\USB to PC and select "usb disk", this operation does not solve the problem. You have to set it by the grey menu....
Bye all
I'm having a similar problem, but no amount of checking, unchecking and soft resetting will get me back to the HTC pop-up menu about what type of connection I want. I can force several different behaviors using the USB to PC settings page:
1. "Ask me first" checked, ASync radio button selected, "Enable faster connections" checked: the phone connects to my PC as a network adapter (1692540.2.xxx subnet, which I think is the standard for the Async faster connection mode), I see no activity on the phone at all (except normal "on charge" stuff, and once the PC gets an IP address on the phone's LAN I see no activity on the PC. Async does not sync, although if I open it on the phone it appears to be trying to. Async on the PC never recognizes the device
2. "Ask me first" checked, ASync radio button selected, "Enable faster connections" un-checked: Async connects and syncs as expected, still no HTC pop-up on phone, but I do see the Async USB "host authenticated" and so on messages on the phone
3. "Ask me first" un-checked, ASync radio button selected, "Enable faster connections" un-checked or checked: Internet sharing comes up automatically when I connect the USB cable. Sometimes it sets itself up and connects successfully, sometimes not - I haven't been able to detect a pattern. Shutting down ICS does not make Async start working, however
4. "Ask me first" un-checked or checked, Disk Drive button selected:
Card comes up as removable storage on PC, no HTC pop-up no matter what
The only thing I can think of that might have affected this is that I tried using WMWifiRouter's 3G to USB mode a few weeks ago. I can't be sure that's when I started having this problem, but it was around that time. So... anyone have any thoughts? It seems to me that ICS is somehow now trying to launch every time.
Note that before a few weeks ago the USB connection was working exactly as expected - I got the HTC pop-up menu and could select a type of connection, I could turn the menu on and off using the "ask me first" setting or the "remember this" in the pop-up.
EDIT: So I fixed the pop-up issue. Went into the registry and switched the key HKLM\Software\OEM\USBtoPC\DisablePopUpUI from 0 to 1 (which should disable the pop-up that's already disabled...). Plugged in my USB cable and, as I'd expect, no pop up. Switched that key back to 0 and, whaddyaknow, my pop-up is back. Your guess is as good as mine about why the phone wasn't recognizing that switch. So that part's fixed - now I just have to figure out why my "advanced network" Async connection stopped working. I realize that's a whole issue in and of itself.
EDIT2: Now Async with advanced network is working again. I changed the reg key in HKLM\Software\OEM\USBtoPC\EnableAdvanceChecked from 0 to 1 (although is, also, appears to be changing with the checking and un-checking of the box in settings, so I'm not sue why doing it manually changes anything...) The only other thing I can come up with is that previously when ICS was coming up automatically it was causing the network adapters on the phone some confusion with IPs so the computer couldn't see the phone on the virtual network adapter set up for sync. That's a real shot in the dark, but I'm happy to be back in business regardless...

No Prompt!

Hi Friends,
Im using a HTC touch pro !
Whenever i connect usb cable to my Touch pro and PC,There is no prompt asking me to choose between active sync, disk drive and Internet sharing but gets connected to internet sharing automatically.
Please help me get the prompt back
go the settings - conections - usb to pc and choose what you want.
I have selected Active sync but still it directly opens ups internet sharing but there is no prompt at all.
there is an option to always ask, check it and see if you can make it work

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\USBtoPC]
"DisablePopUpUI"=dword:00000001

Connecting S7 with Toyota Touch&GO

I 've just bought Toyota Auris II and tried to connected with my S7 via MirrorLink .... and nothing . Any clues, ideas ?
Did you try this already:
- Connect your phone to your car’s system using the USB cable.
- Chose Settings > Connections > More connection settings.
- Tap MirrorLink.
- Tap Connect to vehicle via USB.
Now your phone goes black/blank and if you press (one or two times) the lower-right (telefone) button in your Touch and Go, you should see an extra option "Mirrrorlink".

Getting Android Auto to automatically connect to car headunit

Each time I get into my car and connect my OnePlus 6 via USB, I have to change the USB connection type on the phone to MTP in order for Android Auto to connect. Once I change the setting and it connects, Android Auto runs well and stays connected until I turn off my car. Without changing the USB setting, the phone will stay in charging mode and Android Auto does not connect.
My car is a 2016 Honda Accord EX and I am using an OEM cable. The phone is rooted, developer options are enabled, and USB debugging is off. When I go into the developer options and try to change the default USB connection mode to something other than charging, the setting change doesn't seem to take.
Is there a way to automatically use MTP mode when I connect the phone to my car? Or something else I can do to get it connected without having to change a setting on my phone each time I get in my car?
I would clear data, force stop, and reinstall Android Auto. I use it every day and have no problems at all. Connects automatically.
My HTC M9 had no end of problems with AA. Would not connect half time time unless I replugged it in, and the voice-to-text function was buggy as hell. My OP6 is smooth as silk.
Thanks. I tried that and even deleted the phone from my car. It didn't work. I had to change the mode to mpt to get it to do the initial connection. Same for reconnecting. Doh!
Do you use Tasker? I wrote a task that will automatically change the setting to MTP. It requires the Tasker plugin - AutoInput as well.
I do have tasker. How do I set it up to do that? Thanks.

So I actually created two different profiles/tasks.
1) Detects when USB power is plugged and then opens developer settings and scrolls automatically to usb configuration and makes the change. This profile/task requires the plugin AutoInput.
2) Uses AutoNotification to detect when there is a notification in your tray stating that the device is being charged. Then it will use AutoInput again to click on the notification and change it to 'USB for file transfer'.
I only attached #1. Import it into to Tasker and see if that works. If not, I can add the second option.

God, it's annoying. It happens in all the modern androids. My S8+ 5T and now my OP6
My OP6 has no issues connecting to my Pioneer AVH-2330NEX. Just plug it in and AA starts right up. Bluetooth is pretty reliable as well, which is how I connect most of the time.
It usually takes a minute or 2 for my AA to come up on my screen (2017 Charger). Once it's connected, it runs super smooth. But I wish it was a little more responsive once I plug in the cable. Now I have to wait for it to come up before I can launch any app (Maps, Spotify, etc)
I"m going to see if the MTP method makes it connect "faster". If so, I'll look into building a Tasker Profile as well like @azsl1326

This is really close. I had to add one more scroll down step in the developer menu and change the mode to MIDI. It doesn't work 100% though. If the developer options menu is already open, it reopens wherever it was and sometimes the scroll down goes too far... Perhaps there is a more stable way to do this?
Attached is my modified tasker profile.

I have another profile that uses AutoNotifications to detect when there is a notification in the tray regarding USB charging. It will then use AutoInput to select this option from the notification tray and change it to 'Transfer files'. I can post that here if you are interested. It does require two paid plugins.
You could add a task to clear recents before running the AndroidAuto task - that way it should ensure that Developers Option screen is no longer active.

Here you go. I think both of these Auto plugins have free trials, so you should be able to try it before you buy it.

I replied to you in the other thread, OnePlus 6 and Android Auto
But to fix your issue, this MIGHT be the solution for you specifically. Setup an appointment with your local Honda dealer, and ask to get Technical Service Bulletin 16-059 installed.
This fixed my issue for my '16 Accord when AA wasn't working at all with my PH-1
Or you can just simply choose this option to mtp as default on USB connection. It's in developer settings.

I have read about this and disabled USB debugging. It does sound like it works for some users but it didn't make a difference for me, unfortunately...

I've tried this as well. The setting does not seem to stick. It sometimes works the next time I plug my phone into my car but the 2nd time I plug my phone in, the default in developer settings is back to USB.

This did not work when I tried it today. I'm guessing there is some difference on my phone that would require the setting to be tweaked. I'll look into this.

Didn't know that..
I had the same issue with a VW Passat 2016, and the solution was to enable USB debugging, and after that everything is working ok.
Unfortunately I'm facing another issue. If I'm initiating a call with the phone connected to AA, usually by voice command, the sound is routed randomly on the headset, speaker and sometime to Bluetooth.
Every time I have to set manually from phone app in AA on the car screen to route the sound to Bluetooth, and this is annoying. . Do you experience this issue as well?
Thanks!
