Question Can you move the settings gear in the notification drawer - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hello. I have come from the Samsung One UI to the new Pixel 7 Pro, on the Samsung One UI the settings gear used to be one of the first you saw when you drew down the notification bar, is it possible to have the same on the Pixel 7 pro, cause as now I have to pull down twice to see it and that is pretty annoying.

Following

not that my suggestion is a solution or anything, as I wish it was easier to get to the Settings as well...
but in case it wasn't known, if you pull the notification down with 2 fingers, it brings it all the way down, so you don't have to pull down twice....
clearly very difficult to do this one-handed, so obviously not really a solution...but more of a workaround until OP or someone finds a satisfactory solution...
just wanted to mention this little bit for general knowledge spreading...

Can't move it, but other than the above mentioned workaround, you can do other things like put a Settings icon on your home screen, or using a custom launcher like Nova, designate a gesture to open Settings such as two finger rotation clockwise.
Matter of fact, I might designate that right now.

At first I didn't like it either but think of it this way... you have one hand available, you swipe down twice with your thumb, and with one hand you can now reach the settings button. If it was at the top you probably would not be able to reach it with one hand unless you have Pro basketball size hands with llllooooooonnnnnnnggggggggg fingers!

I 'walk" the shade down using my index and middle fingers.
Because I use Nova, the default gesture to open app drawer is two-finger swipe down, and I use that often, so my personal workaround is to 'walk' the shade down with 2 separate fingers in 2 separate swipes, but it's quick. Otherwise, two-finger pull down from the top edge does indeed pull the shade all the way down.
I like Rode Warrior's idea of a two-finger clockwise gesture in Nova though, I'll give that a spin (pun intended?)

It's super quick to get into Settings this way, that's for sure.

I like it!

pull down from the top, right bottom corner is the settings icon.
or put your home screen on 5 rows and put it in there.

ADW launcher, 1 frustration I am having.

I like this launcher, been using it a while, but I have one frustration with it each time I have to wipe and reinstall when trying different roms.
The frustration is dragging an item to the dock bar. What is the secret with this? I have to try to drag a single item about 10 times to the dock bar before it finally takes. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I even have the dock set to the largest size to try and eliminate this but it doesn't work.
I know on Launcher Pro, when you drag an item, when it is in the right area, the icon turns a shade of red to let you know to let go, but in ADW there is no marker to let you know this.
What the heck am I doing wrong? This is something so simple and I feel so, n00bish with this.

Out of curiosity, you're not dragging it into the trash can by mistake, are you? I'm not trying to be condescending, I'm just trying to rule out everything.
That trash can still f's me up. I've also had the drawer button disappear. Sometimes it gets so frustrating that I just go back into settings and hit the fast preset to fix everything. I'm using ex btw.
I finally got tired of the crap and installed launcherpro. No problems so far.....
I thought this was just me..It would take me 20 times to add a freakin short cut to the dock! Got tired of it and went back to launcher pro.
I use ADW Ex, and didn't have the same issue...
What I found best worked for me was going into settings and under UI, changing the
Trash Can to appear up Top (Shrink Desktop) and that eliminated some of the
accidentally trashing icons...
As far as dropping icons i've never had an issue, the only thing i'm at odds with is how
in order to organize icons on the hidden dock you have to manually add them all over
again.
With the dock buttons disappearing, I went into ADW Settings and changed the
gestures for swipe up and swipe down to show/hide the main dock and show/hide the
hidden dock.
Hey All,
Thanks for the replies.
I was once having the issue with accidentally dragging an icon into the trash bin and ever since I changed it to not having the trash can icon anywhere but instead I hold on the icon and remove it when the menu pops up. So that trash can is no longer there.
I just have my dock on the bottom of the screen at the largest size (10 if I am not mistaken) and I try and drag the item from the applications list and this is where it just doesn't seem to take until that one time you get lucky and it takes.
Thank you again for the replies,
Whiteice
*EDIT* The main reason why I use ADWEX over Launcher Pro Plus is because of the ability in ADWEX to reduce the size of the icons in the text bar. Otherwise I would just have stuck with Launcher Pro Plus.

possible to hide notification bar, but still pull down?

Is this possible
hide the notification bar
but still be able to pull down and reveal notifications
I've always wondered so. It would look so clean, and work so well with certain setups!

I know you can on ADW EX..... can't remember whether Go Launcher or Launcher Pro can.....haven't used those in quite a while....
Long days and pleasant nights............
ADW Launcher Ex does that. it's what i use. then just set gestures - swipe down - open notifications.
oh damn, thanks anyways
im on LPP
Launcher Pro does do this. At least hides the notifcation bar. I use a swipe up to show the notifications. Doesnt take to long to get used to..
Also try Zeam if you prefer something lightweight.

Go Launcher has a function you can set to draw the status bar up and down. It works very well, Drag up and it goes away. Drag down and it appears. Drag down and notifications then drag down.
Dave
ADW is what i'm using now and am loving it for this reason. On my hero and evo i always used lp, when i got the epic it was go launcher. Even though i used ADW in the past i just stumbled across that feature recently and it is by far my favorite.
+1 for zeam on lightweight launchers.
Ics launcher will let you hide the notification bar and give you a taste of ICS at the same time

im using launcher pro and i do not see any options to use a 'swipe' action for custom actions.
how ever i do have my status bar hidden and changed my home key button to show/hide my notifications instead of showing a preview of all my screen which works better for me since im only using 3 screen

long press one of the dock icons, you can then choose "Swipe gesture"
I do the same as lilmexx, hide notification and swipe up across my dock icon to open the notifications.

Pull down the notification bar from anywhere. Possible?

I'm really tired of swiping down from the top edge of my huge phone every time I have to check notifications.
Is there a way (most probably via an app) to swipe down from anywhere on the screen (in my case near the bottom- where my hands and fingers rest by default, Google) to pull down the notification pane?
TIA

That's exactly what I do. You can assign all sorts of gestures, in fact. I swipe up, it goes to Settings, 2 fingers down to go to apps, etc. Nova Prime is awesome.

You need GMD Gesture Control(Root) for it

Swipe from the bottom notification window

Has there ever been a tweak or mod where you can have your notification window come from the bottom instead of top? Seems it would be a great feature with the additional screen size.

Nova launcher can do that with gestures. Or there's a setting in the phone to swipe down on the fingerprint sensor to pull the notification panel down or back up.
What I was meaning is kinda like the control center on the iphone when you swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Just totally move the notification screen to the bottom of the screen once you swipe up.
The furthest you're going to reach your finger is to swipe down from the top for the notification window so why not put it at the bottom being that it's something being used a lot through out the day.
I will say samsung has done a lot for reachability just that one little thing I think would make a huge deal.

Sorry, looks like that feature hasn't been around since ICS.
I'm curious if it's even possible with a custom rom. I always questioned this too. When I had the iPhone 4, I hated switching to iOS 6, but the swipe up from the bottom to access your quick settings was a stroke of genius and got me to actually enjoy it even more after jailbreaking it because you could tweak the odd cosmetics.
iPhone was able to do it through a software update. Why can't Android? What's the limitation and what makes it so limited that no one has been able to accomplish this? Genuine question and interest.
Galaxy S8+ is a phenomenal phone that I think will take quite a bit to outdo it, but the biggest problem with having massive screens is reaching those quick settings. Even with the edge bar, it's still not the same. And the swipe gesture with the fingerprint scanner is neat but that doesn't get you the quick settings a person needs with one hand as well as accessing the notifications.
It would very nice to have that reversed. I have big hands and it's still a pain to always have to use the phone with two hands for those quick things people like to do. Like adjusting brightness, muting, flashlight, Bluetooth etc.
Maybe one day they'll realize people still hold their phones with one hand every now and again and try to tailor that there notification panel accordingly :silly:

It is possible!
It can be done even with an app.
but it can be confusing because of Navigation Buttons at the bottom.
and in this way using this on custom rom can be better >> set nav bars little bit higher and then notification bar below that.......
I think after this idea you will see lots of mods and apps
If I decide to do it I will inform you
I always wanted that swipe down for quick access to controls in ios on Android. Why haven't they implemented that yet? Took them many years to have a "night mode" on Android.

Have never really understood the ergonomics of it. Bottom Status Bar should at least be an Xposed Module!

Can't open app drawer immediately after swiping up to go home

Hello,
I've discovered this bug in the navigation gesture system. The app drawer won't open after a second or so after swiping up to go home from any application. The only way to open the app drawer in this case is to swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Please help starring this issue on the Google Bug Tracker:
https://issuetracker.google.com/143434565
Thanks,
Done. That issue is frustrating
youre actually using the gestures? you really like to stand out from the crowd dont you?

Huh
Isn't this because the animation is still going?
I have the Same issue.
But its Not just swipe Up the App drawer. When you try to Open an App directly its the Same Problem.
Same when you use an App shortcut after going home.
Hope Google will fix it soon

Yes, but you can still swipe up from the very bottom of the screen to open the app drawer.
Issue fixed on December patch.
Does anyone misses the most used apps that appears when you swipe up or is it only me?

Still happening for me. I can't open any other app or swipe to a different screen right away after swiping up to go "home". I have to wait for that stupid corner animation.
- Edit: Looks like it is only still an issue with 3rd party launchers like Nova. Still BS Google has buggy launcher issues with Gesture Nav.

Yep, same, running Nova. Unfortunate lag. Also, if I'm in the App drawer swiping up doesn't return to home screen, it brings up "Search Apps" screen. Have to swipe back from the App drawer to get back to home.
Edit: Question, what's the purpose of flashing those bars in the corners with the resultant delay in running apps? Is there some functional purpose, or just a constant reminder that the Assistant can be accessed swiping the corners?
Edit: Fixed the App Drawer issue with swipe up not returning to home. It was a Nova setting. Also, reported delay issue to Nova and they responded it's a known issue with all 3rd party launchers, and hopefully Google will fix it in a future update. One work around is to use back swipe to exit apps to get back to home which avoids the delay.
