Can't open app drawer immediately after swiping up to go home - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I've discovered this bug in the navigation gesture system. The app drawer won't open after a second or so after swiping up to go home from any application. The only way to open the app drawer in this case is to swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Please help starring this issue on the Google Bug Tracker:
https://issuetracker.google.com/143434565
Thanks,

Done. That issue is frustrating

youre actually using the gestures? you really like to stand out from the crowd dont you?

Huh

Isn't this because the animation is still going?

I have the Same issue.
But its Not just swipe Up the App drawer. When you try to Open an App directly its the Same Problem.
Same when you use an App shortcut after going home.
Hope Google will fix it soon

Yes, but you can still swipe up from the very bottom of the screen to open the app drawer.

Issue fixed on December patch.

Does anyone misses the most used apps that appears when you swipe up or is it only me?

Still happening for me. I can't open any other app or swipe to a different screen right away after swiping up to go "home". I have to wait for that stupid corner animation.
- Edit: Looks like it is only still an issue with 3rd party launchers like Nova. Still BS Google has buggy launcher issues with Gesture Nav.

Yep, same, running Nova. Unfortunate lag. Also, if I'm in the App drawer swiping up doesn't return to home screen, it brings up "Search Apps" screen. Have to swipe back from the App drawer to get back to home.
Edit: Question, what's the purpose of flashing those bars in the corners with the resultant delay in running apps? Is there some functional purpose, or just a constant reminder that the Assistant can be accessed swiping the corners?
Edit: Fixed the App Drawer issue with swipe up not returning to home. It was a Nova setting. Also, reported delay issue to Nova and they responded it's a known issue with all 3rd party launchers, and hopefully Google will fix it in a future update. One work around is to use back swipe to exit apps to get back to home which avoids the delay.

possible to hide notification bar, but still pull down?

Is this possible
hide the notification bar
but still be able to pull down and reveal notifications
I've always wondered so. It would look so clean, and work so well with certain setups!

I know you can on ADW EX..... can't remember whether Go Launcher or Launcher Pro can.....haven't used those in quite a while....
Long days and pleasant nights............
ADW Launcher Ex does that. it's what i use. then just set gestures - swipe down - open notifications.
oh damn, thanks anyways
im on LPP
Launcher Pro does do this. At least hides the notifcation bar. I use a swipe up to show the notifications. Doesnt take to long to get used to..
Also try Zeam if you prefer something lightweight.

Go Launcher has a function you can set to draw the status bar up and down. It works very well, Drag up and it goes away. Drag down and it appears. Drag down and notifications then drag down.
Dave
ADW is what i'm using now and am loving it for this reason. On my hero and evo i always used lp, when i got the epic it was go launcher. Even though i used ADW in the past i just stumbled across that feature recently and it is by far my favorite.
+1 for zeam on lightweight launchers.
Ics launcher will let you hide the notification bar and give you a taste of ICS at the same time

im using launcher pro and i do not see any options to use a 'swipe' action for custom actions.
how ever i do have my status bar hidden and changed my home key button to show/hide my notifications instead of showing a preview of all my screen which works better for me since im only using 3 screen

long press one of the dock icons, you can then choose "Swipe gesture"
I do the same as lilmexx, hide notification and swipe up across my dock icon to open the notifications.

(Q) Anyone that uses Nova Launcher

Does Knock still work with nova? The reason why I'm asking is with my girlfriend lg which is stock the knock work to turn the screen on and when at the main stock launcher screen will turn it off. I'm on Nova and knock works when turning the screen on but to turn it off it wont work i have to use the back button or enable a hold button.
I have kind of found a work though with this problem I'm having. So what i did is in Nova settings when to the Gestures and Buttons option and selected double tap. From there go to the shortcuts tab and selected the greenify option "Hibernate + Lock" and this works like a charm.
I am using nova launcher. and I am doing the same thing I go into settings buttons and gestures and then I select double tap and use secure settings plugin to lock the screen, it's just as smooth and quick as using the stock launcher.

I've noticed that the knock off feature (by double-tapping any empty space on your homescreens) is only a LG launcher feature only. I'd recommend doing what others are doing. You can still turn off the screen by double-tapping the status bar which is what I personally do!
I use Nova but you guys need to install a app called screen off and lock in the play store. Then go to Nova settings, gusters and set Double tap to that app hide it also cheers.
You don't need an app for this. Should just be able to double tap in the status bar. You can tap anywhere to wake the phone. I'm not using Nova any longer but it worked. I'm using Next Launcher.

You need Nova Prime for the knock on/off feature.
I hate to disagree but if you double tap on the task bar (which is very easy) it works just fine. Prime or the free version. I just put it on the phone to test it and it works just like before.

Yeah I just noticed that. My bad.
No biggie. I love my Next Launcher but if I couldn't knock it off I dunno if I'd still use it. First day I just happened to try it and YES!

Pull down the notification bar from anywhere. Possible?

I'm really tired of swiping down from the top edge of my huge phone every time I have to check notifications.
Is there a way (most probably via an app) to swipe down from anywhere on the screen (in my case near the bottom- where my hands and fingers rest by default, Google) to pull down the notification pane?
TIA

That's exactly what I do. You can assign all sorts of gestures, in fact. I swipe up, it goes to Settings, 2 fingers down to go to apps, etc. Nova Prime is awesome.
Yes!

You need GMD Gesture Control(Root) for it

Are there settings for the following?

Are there settings for the following features?
1. To turn off the message on the home screen that says "swipe up or down to show apps".
2. Turn off the Wallpaper for the Always On display?
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
The swipe message disappears after you use the gesture to both open and close the app drawer.
As far as I can tell, that wallpaper is unchangable.
I already post this in another thread...
The blue text on the lock screen.
You have to double tap on it then tap the next button in the bottom right.
Keep pressing next until it turns into ok.
Once done it wont come back on.
And you can go into the aod settings and change the background and style of the lock screen.
You can definitely change the wallpaper for AOD, in the themes section. I've seen a select few other wallpapers for it, keep in mind the theme store has more paid ones than free.

I have opened and closed the app drawer over and over with this gesture and yet every single time i unlock my phone, i get this message. Are we sure thats the solution? I've even restarted my device and did a restore on it as well and i still get this message. It is absolutely mind boggling that there is no way to actually disable tooltips like this one.
EDIT: Ask and ye shall receive! So, no sooner than i posted this did i look and my phone was downloading an update. After the update this annoying message is GONE! Whats funny is the first thing i did after getting home with the new device this morning was to check for software updates and there wasnt one.

Question Can you move the settings gear in the notification drawer

Hello. I have come from the Samsung One UI to the new Pixel 7 Pro, on the Samsung One UI the settings gear used to be one of the first you saw when you drew down the notification bar, is it possible to have the same on the Pixel 7 pro, cause as now I have to pull down twice to see it and that is pretty annoying.
Following
not that my suggestion is a solution or anything, as I wish it was easier to get to the Settings as well...
but in case it wasn't known, if you pull the notification down with 2 fingers, it brings it all the way down, so you don't have to pull down twice....
clearly very difficult to do this one-handed, so obviously not really a solution...but more of a workaround until OP or someone finds a satisfactory solution...
just wanted to mention this little bit for general knowledge spreading...
Can't move it, but other than the above mentioned workaround, you can do other things like put a Settings icon on your home screen, or using a custom launcher like Nova, designate a gesture to open Settings such as two finger rotation clockwise.
Matter of fact, I might designate that right now.

At first I didn't like it either but think of it this way... you have one hand available, you swipe down twice with your thumb, and with one hand you can now reach the settings button. If it was at the top you probably would not be able to reach it with one hand unless you have Pro basketball size hands with llllooooooonnnnnnnggggggggg fingers!
I 'walk" the shade down using my index and middle fingers.
Because I use Nova, the default gesture to open app drawer is two-finger swipe down, and I use that often, so my personal workaround is to 'walk' the shade down with 2 separate fingers in 2 separate swipes, but it's quick. Otherwise, two-finger pull down from the top edge does indeed pull the shade all the way down.
I like Rode Warrior's idea of a two-finger clockwise gesture in Nova though, I'll give that a spin (pun intended?)

pull down from the top, right bottom corner is the settings icon.
or put your home screen on 5 rows and put it in there.
