TOUCH HD PHONE
Firstly let me say this:...... I have a phone that has had to go back once because of a weird problem - so it might be "one of those phones " (the prob WAS fixed by a new board from HTC but thats another story !)
Here's the prob. Today when I was typing a text the back light kept adjusting up and down. This has NOT happened before So I did some tests:
1) Its to do with the autoadjust feature (not a prob when its OFF)
2) All is OK UNTIL you start to type this is how I spotted it typing a text. The backlight was going up and down - I thought my eyes were going!!!
ATTEMPTED RESOLUTION:
Fristly I did a soft reset......(prob still the same)
I down loaded LUMOS, which shows actual numbers for the light sensor,
Here's what I found......
It moves up and down a bit then settles, in a dark area its on say 3 or 0 but when I type on the screen it goes up and down like a yoyo ! ie 3,79,120,3,0 if I stop typing it settles on 3 or 0. AND THAT IN A NUT SHELL IS I "THINK" THE PROB !
"The light sensor seems to be affected by typing."
I never noticed this before so this may be a fault.
LUMOS seems to cope slightly better than win software with this and I can get around this by turning the sensor off, but if its faulty BACK it GOES....(AGAIN)
The last prob did my head in. I love this phone but I'm not sure if I got a touchy one !(pardon the pun)!
ANY HELP/THOUGHTS VERY GRATEFULLY ACCEPTED
Update - CAUSE
I have found out the cause !
It happens when screen taps (sound) is turned on and is FINEwhen it is off. I only tuned this on last week !
SO what they heck this is some software bug perhaps - any thoughts ?
Thanks so much !
Hi Simon,
Ive never noticed that, because i dont have the soft keyboard sounds on, too annoying and i never have the auto adjust on either, i like it bright all the time..... you didnt say, but are u on stock rom?
I am very annoyed and hoping someone here can help . My infuse 4g every time i take a call and the phone dims while on call It will not come un-dimmed. i press power and nothing call is still active but i can't do anything even after they hang up sometimes. so i updated my infused v1 to v2 and still same thing ?? any help or any suggestions is appreciated ! thanks in advanced !
Are you running overclock or undervolt? Did you theme anything? How did you restore apps?
infused infuse helping other infused infuses?
i didn't do a restore of apps ? I just signed in to my google account . had to reinstall them . and i am not overclocking . like i said it did the same thing on v1 ???

Are you you using any themes? If not does it do that on stock.
i am not using any themes . i put infused on as soon as i got the phone so im not sure if it did it on stock but it just started doing it . wasn't doing it for months now all of a sudden ???
If it does it on stock maybe get a new phone could be a sensor issue! Are you doing a full wipe when you flas Roms?
stupid question
are you doing this with the phone next to your face?
maybe you have a finger near the top of the screen?
the phone has a proxemity sensor and will nit power on the screen with objects in the vacinity. it is near the att logo at the top of the screen. this is to prevent your cheek from randomly interacting with the phone.
Personally I had go launcher running and it made my calls not go through. I did the gtg back to stock then flashed again and all was fine.

yeah idk , i do a full wipe and regardless if i hit the sensor it doesn't come back on . i have to force shut down to get it to work again . it just stays on but not lit up for me to do anything. thanks

Did it start after you moved to Infused v2? Or was it an existing problem before then?
There's some undocumented setting in the prox sensor driver that is different between the Rogers kernels for Gingerbread and Froyo kernels. (Undocument as in I see that it's different but have no clue what it does.) If you find a definitive difference between v1 and v2 in terms of prox sensor performance, I can whip up a test kernel for you.
it did it with v1 and as soon as i put on v2 i attemoted a call and it did it right away again . so idk
So I believe I figured it out . in display settings i UN-checked power save mode . and that stopped it ! So i checked it again to test and it did it again , so I believe I found the problem ! Nice ! Thanks for everyone's help ! I hope by me figuring out the wrong setting that was checked can later help someone else ! You all Rock !
One last thing . I have to use adw launcher or it still does it even with power save uncheck on stock launcher . Hmmm dunno why but adw launcher with power save unchecked works
Update issued solved

I wish I could figure out the root cause for why the prox sensor fails for some people...
It's hard to debug a problem you can't reproduce!

Just wondering, but do you have a screen protector on your phone? One that covers the brightness sensors on the top?
On my old iPhone 3GS I had the same problem, I found out it was because my screen protector was interfering with the brightness sensor on the top causing it to think that the phone was still next to my ear.
Not sure if that is your problem, but its worth a shot.
Phone lockup during call
I had this same problem.....started as soon as I left the store.
After researching this across LOTS of these posts, I found a common theme in the prox sensor.
My Ballistic case was the cause of the problem, I carefully cut the plastic shield (clear) that was over the prox sensor and now everything is working GREAT!!!!
I would look at your screen protectors and perform a little surgery....
fixxed
Yes , it was in fact my screen protector . i ordered a new one and it never did it again . thanks for your reply
Hi everyone !
I face a strange problem,
Last day, my nose started bleeding and a drop of blood has fallen on the lowest speaker. I washed it under clear water to get it off. (Since it's waterproof it shall not create any problems...)
Since this event, the sony style cover mode keep thinking that i'm opening and closing the smart cover.
Firstly, the screen was going on and off by itself, I wans't understanding what's happening since in recovery mode all is working fine.
Later, a pop up showed on my screen asking me to give permissions to smart cover app. I denied since I don't use it.
Luckily I have a smart cover that I don't use (it's not handy when fully opened so I stopped using it, it cannot be because of this since I flashed a lot of differents firmware since this day)
I paired the cover with the phone when the screen was on for enough time. It does had worked and instead of shutting down the screen, displayed the smart cover screen lock (A small square in the center of the screen, fitting with the window)
To avoid this, I deleted the smart cover app folder and datas using recovery, rebooted, miracle ! No more little square screen !
But... Even if the screen is as it should be, touchsceen is not working on the non window areas (it does work only in the square of the window. So I can't use touchscreen outside of this area.
I tried to delete all things I found related to "touchblock" in system and data but it does not worked...
I can do every actions on my phone using Adb with wifi or not, control on the screen using a mouse with otg or using wifi with teamviewer, or using recovery to do everything system side !
If someone is able to help me finding a solution let me know i'll be very grateful !
Thanks for reading (And sorry if i made mistakes in my explainations, English is not my first language )
Up ?
Sorry for bad english.. just i wish to help u,try to get my idea
First, the problem of pixilated screen's related to Smart cover option in your Smartphone sittings, its sometime happening when we make factory reset .
the method to fix this problem is very easy.. lets start
1- put your device into hot sunlight weather for while of time(1M) is enough.
2-force your device to be restarted and your screen device directly facing the sunlight .. cause we need the light of the sun and temperature of it too.
done
Notce: This method might not be working for 1 time .. just keep trying from 1-5 times
It isnt working.
I am facing the same issue.. Did u solved ur phone problem?
that is about the proximity sensor , It might be covered by something because it happen when you put on the case which cover the phone and the screen to give you weather and time throught mini-hole on the screen cover.. you have to diassemble the phne and check in the phone if the cover is not covered by something and remove it
Is there other way to solve this issue of NA n timer on my screen.
the sun method didn't work.
Is this a known bug ?
I have not see this before now. This is something new showing up that I don't understand where it came from. I have 'not' ever turned on the slick trick feature of identifying songs playing near by. And I have loaded my copy of Power Amp ( weeks ago ) to listen to my bought album collection . . .
Geeze. It changes what it shows... Now its showing 'I Got You' by James Brown.

.
Oh, by the way, the Face Un-lock will say... Not Recognized -or- Too Many Invalid... often and I swipe up and it lets me in . . . I do have Safe Zone setup.
UPDATE: I unplugged my Google dongle out of the bottom that's connected to my wire buds and problem gone . . . So its a weird bug.
