So, I was switching from my Pixel 6 Pro, to the 7 Pro. And I began the paring process, that resets the watch. Well, it shut down, and won't turn back on. It had a full battery when I started this. Not sure if it's bricked. I held down the power button for over a minute. I tried holding both buttons over a minute. Nothing is happening. It's not connected to the 6 Pro, and the scanning on the 7 Pro doesn't find anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Maybe plug it in charging for awhile then try your power button holds while plugged...

It was fully charged when I started. But I am also trying what you suggested. It does nothing when I place it on the charger. No indication that it's charging. I did connect it to my computer. And my computer notified me that a unrecognized device was connected. Not sure if that means anything tho.

Ok this is kinda silly, but it happened.
I was charging my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT something (UK version) via the chargeable USB port on my Samsung n150 notepad with the laptop switched off. During this time I was playing N.O.V.A 3 on my Galaxy S3.
As I was playing I switched the laptop on. As the phone was already charging via the USB I didnt think there would be a probably. But when Windows booted to my log in screen, the phone froze and switched off. Now my Galaxy will not switch on. I can only get it to charge and thats all.
Please help!!

Agreed and that is strange how that worked op. Never heard of anything like that. Tried a battery pull I assume?
Sent from a strange blue box hurtling through time and space.
Need more info first. Can you get into DL mode? Recovery? The only thing I could think of would be a power surge when you turned the laptop on caused the phone to fail (highly unliklely).
While browsing through our list of threads reported as 'Newsworthy' for the XDA Portal, I just came across this one. I wonder whose big idea was to report it as newsworthy. Whoever that was needs a healthy dose of common sense.
PS: Mods, can you please move it to the appropriate forum i.e. the one for the international version?
Happened to a Verizon GS3
My Verizon GS3 was turned completely unresponsive (absolutely dead), with no boot of any sort after I unplugged and then plugged in a USB DAC (Fiio E7). I had been using the E7 for several days but today connecting it to the GS3 through USB To Go killed it.
I have read other instances of the same phenomenon.
So had my watch 3 days and it's dead won't turn on just starts with Sony logo then turns off sometimes it just lights the back light for few seconds then shuts off called Sony looks like I'm sending it back. I tried the usual pc companion and global update no joy. So looks like it's going back 5 to 7 days return.
Anybody else got any issues with there's.

Hi, I just got my smartwatch 2 about 3 days ago and today I wake up to find it dead, the battery was fully charged when I went to bed and in the morning the thing just wouldn't turn on, sometimes the screen lights up slightly but is still blank, just like you said. Holding the power button down to reset it just brings up the sony logo and that soon disappears so I'm left with an expensive dead toy which the PC wont even recognise. Not happy :/

That sucks. I bought one that was just DOA and wouldn't recognize either. Then got a second one which is working now for 5 days so far. Not really impressed with Sony's quality control at the moment.

Just an update:
After plugging in to a mains charger and leaving it for 5mins (blank screen and no sign of any life in the thing) I installed Sony's update utility and thought I'd give it one more go. I plugged in the watch (at first it tried to install driver and failed), then after opening the update programme and finding the smartwatch 2 option and re-plugging in the watch & tapping the power button quickly once, boom the computer detected the watch (it said the battery level was now 76% so that rules out a dead battery as I only charged for a few mins). From then onwards the update programme installed the relevant drivers and allowed me to reinstall the firmware. Finally managed to get some life into the watch, but, and there's a but...ever since I managed to reinstall the firmware the smartwatch kept crashing or freezing at a certain time and not responding to any inputs, no matter how many times I reset the watch, but I eventually fixed it!
I've had to uninstall all the smart extra apps and reset the watch a few more time and connect to my phone with a fresh setup and now finally things seem to be working again, but it's been a whole lot of hassle and not what I was expecting at all, let's just hope it lasts...

Good to hear! Personally I think its some of the apps that corrupt the firmware on the watch and as it tries to reconnect to the phone to relink the apps you've installed it just ends up in a loop...just hope Sony releases some kind of updated more stable firmware soon!

hi my watch is working fine but i want to update the software.when i connect the usb and immediatly press power button nothing happens on watch and pc shows usb device not recognised, and when i remove the usb cable and press power button so it turns on... is it the driver issue or watch firmware?

Just had this happen to my 2 day old Smartwatch 2.
I switched it on after charging to see 2 of my apps not showing on the watch, Smart Camera and Call Handler, both bang up to date and still showing in the Smart Connect app on my Samsung S3. All other apps seemed fine at this point. So I switched the watch off and back on again to be greeted by a garbled display on the watch..switched it back off and on again and this time it only booted as far as the Sony logo.
Thanks to the help on this thread I downloaded the Sony update tool which allowed me to reinstall the firmware and i'm now back up and running.
I do have a theory as to what might have caused the problem. I used a mobile phone mains charger to charge the watch for the first time just before the problems. I am going to stick to using the supplied usb lead and connecting it to my laptop from now on. I dont know if this will help stop the firmware from corrupting but i'm not taking any chances....

Sorry if this is too obvious and you've already done it many time. Did you do the whole "turn off watch", run program, plug the USB end in your computer and then plug in the microUSB end into your watch and in less than a second after plugging the microUSB into the watch, press and hold the powerbutton on the watch?

Honestly I tried it over and over. I tried pressing, holding, everything with the update tool running immediately after plugging in the USB cable. After an hour of messing about I gave up and arranged to return it. I know it worked for others but it definitely didn't work for me.
I would have accepted a replacement but it wasn't an option so I'm getting the money back and I decided to go for a Pebble instead. I really liked the Smartwatch 2 but I did realise when using it that the colour screen and touchscreen were less important to me than the core experience (watch + personalisation + notifications). Fingers crossed I'll get all that with the pebble and not need to charge it quite so often.
Thanks for trying to help!
I had it running for a few weeks but eventually I started seeing some weirdness. Firstly it became less responsive and then it will reboot on its own. Yesterday it failed completely where it will hardly remain turned on for a while. So yesterday I connected it to sony update software and update was presented. I flashed that update, after that it won't reboot, no response at all, as if bricked. After 20-30 minutes it started responding but this time it was even worse. Literally unusable. Backlight won't turn on, it won't register touch on right hand side of screen except on left hand side icon row. Can't swipe either.
Infact this is pretty much useless now.
Never expected such a poor quality device from such a reputed company. A piece of ****.
Not sure if warranty will be honoured on this as I don't even have receipt on purchase from ebay. However I have full box and all accessories. If this is not sorted this will be last piece of electronics I will buy from sony.
I'm still waiting for mine to come back from repair been over a month now.

Does anyone know how to turn on the Nexus 5? Today I found the phone turned off automatically. The last time I used it was half hour before I found it was off. I know it had enough battery. I tried power on more than 10 sec. I tried power + both volume buttons, I tried power + one volume button. I tried charging it. None of them works. It just stopped working after worked for me for 4 months.I haven't rooted or installed other ROM. I didn't install to much Apps also. Before this trouble, the phone works perfectly. But now it doesn't give me any response without any reason.

As you tried holding the power button for about 10-20 seconds you can try to connect the phone to a charger to see if you see a charging animation. Can you get into bootloader (volume down and power)? Try charging the phone a little longer (1 hour or more). If nothing works all you can do is RMA or send it in for repair.

Only the original owner (your friend) can claim warranty and only in the country where the phone was bought. You`ll have to send it to the US. You can also send it to a local LG repair centre but you`ll have to pay for it yourself most likely.

I heart from my friend that the Nexus 5 have the charging problem. I realize that the day, before I my phone was dead, was the first time it ran out of the power. I mean one day before, I used the phone to 0% and then turned off automatically. But after that, I managed to charge it and turned on. And the second day the phone stopped working...
Does anyone have new idea to solve the problem?

You might also want to try turning it on underneath a bright light. For example, turn on a desk lamp, and point it right at the top of the phone while you try to turn it on.
I know that sounds like an odd suggestion, but it's worth a shot. People were having a similar issue with the HTC One, and it turned out to be because of a built-in pocket mode that tried to use the light sensor to prevent it from turning on in a pocket or bag. Sometimes, it would bug out and only work in the face of a really bright light. Obviously, it was most prevalent in the HTC One because that was built in, but it happens in other phones when you use apps that have a similar function, such as AcDisplay and such.

Hi gee2012,
I almost give up and plan to send to phone back to US. Now I find I can hear the current sound from the top part of the phone when ever I press the power button, or when the phone is connected to the charger.
If the phone is not connected to the charger, the current sound with disappear after around 15 seconds even I hold the power button.
Does that mean something? I think at least it means the phone does have power in the battery.
I tried to connect the phone to the computer, but I cannot find any device related to the phone.

JUST SEND IT BACK. The longer you try to "fix it" the longer you're gonna be without a functioning phone. I know it's frustrating and you wanna fix it, but honestly it really sounds like it's dead. Just send it back to your friend and let him RMA it.

Sounds hard-bricked to me... I will let others who know this device better than me chime in.
With samsung phones and devices there is what's called a Dead brick. If your device is "dead" bricked it is savable by a USB Jig method. Not sure what it is just what I found on google for you so far.
EDIT: This is as close to the USB Jig method that I could find. If your device is "dead bricked" then this is what you will do. Video is on youtube.com/ just paste watch?v=0PAB6khykWE after youtube.com/
Also try galaxy tab 3 solutions since devices are similar. I found various videos on youtube relating to opening the back of the tablet and removing the battery ribbon then reconnecting.
Hi
I am in need of help. I am still using a Samsung Galaxy SIII. I discovered yesterday it was stuck on the Samsung screen. I researched and did all I could find. Soft restart, factory reset ect. I turn it on and still goes through the start up then is stuck on the Samsung. The light indicator is flashing blue if that helps. I hook it up to my computer and it does not recognize it. I hook my wife's up and it instantly sees it. It is model SGH-I747M. I know I need a new one but finances just are not there. Any help to get it back working wold be greatly appreciated.

How long did you let it boot after factory resetting it? Sometimes it can take 10-20 for it to finish booting.
What is the model number of your S3?

I let it sit for probably a good hour. The model is SGH-I747M. I am in Canada. I have read to use the original cable but that is long gone.

You can use any cable that supports charging and data transfer. Some cords will only transfer photos and such like the cord from a digital camera. Depends on whether it's a 4 pin or 5 pin cable. If the cord shows connection on Odin then you're good.
Find your newest stock firmware for your model number/region/carrier and flash it via Odin.
