Was easy to do on my last phone, but can't figure out how to get an XDA P7P shortcut on this phone.
When I try to do it (while on the P7P threads) I get a shortcut, but it leads me to XDA in general, not the P7P forum.
Any help would be appreciated!

This StackOverflow question has some solutions, but there isn't much around it because XDA provides a manifest file for the PWA that strips the URL to just the domain.
Best solution seems to be to use one of the shortcut creater apps.
This is easily accomplished with Tasker and a Tasker shortcut on your home screen. Or, if you use Nova, you can use a gesture such as swipe up to launch the Tasker shortcut. Below is a screenshot of an example Task (using the Browse URL action) that launches the P7 forums on XDA, and a video attached showing it in use. Happy to help further if you want to give it a try.

Problem is, with Chrome, the shortcut removes the latter parts of the URL and like OP said, it just takes you to the XDA home page instead of the Pixel 7 Pro forums specifically.

This doesn't work. There is no "add to homescreen" or any option like that in Chrome any longer it seems.

I dunno about you...but I still have the option (It's below "Translate" and above "Desktop site")...was just able to do it now...it gave me the option to have it automatically placed ("Add to home screen"), or I could manually place it, or "Cancel" of course...
Out of curiosity, I checked if it'd be possible on an incognito tab; it's not....
If it matters, I'm using version 112.0.5615.136....

Using Brave Browser , i can simply choose "Add To Homescreen" option. And it go to correct page.
Am using Nova btw. So the shortcut is assigned through Nova automatically as well.

Have you broken your home button, and now to get to your home screen, you have to press back continuously?
No longer will you desire such an app - It is here for you!
An app so simple that it doesn't need options.
Just run it and it takes you to your home screen.

And how exactly do you launch the app when you can't get to your app drawer except from your home screen? Kind of stupid, if you ask me. You should make it so that it keeps a persistent notification that takes you home when selected, because the notification bar is everywhere, the app drawer button is not.

I use the app called switchpad to put it as a menu attached to one edge of my screen.
I am just a beginner developer so I will attempt to include the persistent notification feature in my next release.

It's a fantastic idea, but I'm not familiar with switchpad. It's a great start, but I think the most mainstream usage of it would be the persistent notification.
I didn't mean to come off as sharp, I know developing takes time and effort, so keep at it
Thanks
I'm currently working on the persistent notification, and have added it. Im just double checking everything works properly before release...
The release after this will have an option as to enable it or not haha.
John
You can also use an app called LaunchKey that attaches to the long press of your search button. This may help for those with just a broken home button.
I am not familiar with the app from above, but WaveLauncher would work as well. It allows gestures from the area of the screen you define (similar to the swipe up on the Palm Pre). It also has a nifty feature that if you press and hold for a user defined time on the gesture area, it will launch its own app drawer from within any application.
Great job on this simple but useful app! Keep it up! I know a few people with broken buttons that may benefit from this.
I use an app called zMooth which replaces the Menu, Home and Back buttons with swipe gestures that you make at the bottom of the screen.
Here is a video of it running on my Droid X, the video is a little choppy but it gives you an idea of how it works.

I prefer it this way because I use wavelauncher and I don't need another app running in background
Launcher pro short cut can also do this
I too use swipe pad a must for big screen like sgs2,n I too felt the need for a way to trigger home,i googled but cudnt find any thing but just few days ago I tried to put launcher pro as short cut on the swipe pad n it did the trick ,wht am I now missing is a way to to show recent app ,as u normally get by holding ur home button any one knows the way to it,
And how is this different from using Home Manager to create a shortcut to your home screen to use with SwipePad? Home Manager simply allows me to do all what your app can do and even more, like switching between launchers and shortcut on the notification bar

Great idea! Thanks. Will look into it.
Update
Beta 1.0.1
releasing the tab quick control will now bring up the standard window with open tabs in which you can close tabs by swiping them "away"
fixed "find on page" menu item text
It seems to work pretty well on my GN running the Revolution HD rom. The ONLY issue I see is that either the unused space in the controls need .. controls or needs to be made transparent. The shadow close to the edge of the screen where ones finger is ... is a bit ugly. But since it's a beta ... FRIGGIN awesome job!
Running great on my GN
Can I reguest a feature? Custom UA-string would be a killer feature
Edit: another feature request: custom download folder would be great also.
Works on my GSII with CM9 (4.0.3)
Sent from my Galaxy S II using XDA App
I would like to request the ability to permanently set all webpages to be non-mobile.
Works fine on HTC Desire running latest ICS 4.0.3.

I've been really wanting more Quick Controls, so this is fantastic so far!
I do have a few thoughts; hopefully you'll find some of them worth doing:
1) Could you provide an option to use the volume rocker for other uses like page scrolling or tab switching?
2) A very minor point that drives me crazy is that if I select the menu option from the quick controls, the pop-up menu list always pops up on the left side of the screen -- it'd be nice if, when I use the quick controls on the right, the pop-up menu list (i.e. the option I get when pressing your "!" button) would pop up on the right so I could easily reach it with the same finger/thumb I used to activate quick controls.
3) I'd love a quick way to access notifications when full-screen browsing -- perhaps something in quick controls or the pop-up menu to pull down the notification shade -- or maybe even better, an option to launch an application from quick controls or the pop-up menu (since I could then use something like status bar expander to pull down the shade).
4) Some sort of quicker toggle for inverted screen -- I like the black background for battery savings on AMOLED screens, but it's annoying how it also inverts pictures. So, if I want to quickly see a picture displayed properly or if a page just doesn't seem to be displaying properly when inverted, it'd be nice to have a quick toggle to take me back to the normal state instead of having dive down into accessibility options.
5) I suspect this might be difficult -- but I'd like to have the option to customize the tab that gets focus after closing another tab (like in Tab Mix Plus for Firefox). Right now, I'll sometimes open 5-6 tabs in the background from a single page. I'll go to one of the pages, read it, then close tab and end up back at the original page. Then I'll have to switch tabs back to one of the other background-opened tabs and repeat the process -- taking up extra time, even if I use the tab switcher instead of using the X or back button on the quick controls. Instead it would be nice if after closing a new tab, I go directly to another of the new tabs, until all the new tabs have been closed and I'm back to the page from which I opened all the new tabs. I guess a tricky part is keeping another desirable behavior -- when opening a link from Gmail for instance, closing the linked page should still bring you back to Gmail.
6) This is probably something that requires root and even then I'm not even sure if it's possible -- but it would be super-cool if you could add extra browser buttons to the soft menu area on the Galaxy Nexus -- an option to put a frequently-used button like a refresh button or bookmark button or whatever.
Suggestion: Some way to close all tabs quickly. When I reach 16 tabs, swiping all of them closed is a pain.
Any words on why all the permissions are needed?
I'd just like to know before installing.
Nice job, I was just playing on my transformer and thinking having this would be nice.
One thing that would be a great feature would be an option to hide the Galaxy Nexus navigation buttons at the bottom. You would need to add a home button to the quick controls, so not sure exactly how hard that would be.
Small Beta 1.0.2 Update
* added option to set the User Agent String (Settings -> Advanced)
* cosmetic fixes: new icons, removed background controls (see screenshot1)
* switched the "add new tab" control and the "show tabs" control for easier access
BTW the option request desktop site is still used. Selecting this option will toggle the User Agent setting for the current tab. All pages loaded in that tab will listen to the new setting (this way one can set a tab to load mobile pages when the default user agent is set to desktop or vice versa.
Thank you all for the feedback!! I certainly will use a lot for the upcoming version. Great suggestions.
great work appelflap. thank you man!!
when i have auto rotate on and switch between portrait and landscape mode the webpage reloads. is this a bug ?
when you view a flash video (plugins on demand) in portrait mode turning to landscape mode reloads the page and you must start the video again..
Thanx for the great app, works perfectly on Galaxy Nexus.
Would it be possible to add an option, that clears cache and history automatically whenever I am closing the browser? This is something I am definitely missing on most mobile browsers.

I use a virtual trackball app on my galaxy nexus. Is there a way to add cursor support into this browser app? Thanks.

I see, do you have a widget called Activities? If so, drop it on your homescreen, and the list of activities is going to pop up. Select the one mentioned earlier (CQATest -> com.motorola.motocit.Test_MenuMode).
I realized that if I boot into Bp Tools, in the menu it going to appear an app called 'CQA Test' ^^
To boot into Bp Tools you need to turn off your phone. Then, press the volume buttons (both) and then turn it on.
Then, with the down volume button you go to 'Bp tools' and then, select with the up volume button.
And, as I said, in the menu, it should appear an app called 'CQA Test'.

Ok guys so since this thread is called HiddenSecret Menus so did not create a new thread, here's another one for you all :
So we do know about the *#*#4636#*#* testing menu
check if you are already aware of this one
*#*#6686#*#* which is a "internal lab test menu" - pretty self explanatory to use.
Hit thanks if you find this helpful!

I saw this in the rom thread, but i didn't know what 'host modifcation' is.
I just installed a new rom (MOAR) and I have to set up my device (Sprint Galaxy S5) again. I am using Nova Launcher if it matters. I need to move a lot of icons/apps back onto the homescreen from the app drawer and between different homescreens. I have searched for quite a while now at xda and across the web for a solution to this problem. I've found a lot of "not possible" answers on various websites. The closest supposed solution is to use folders. Even if that were a solution, I think you would still have to move icons individually into and out of a folder. The only thing that folders would possibly accomplish would be making it easier to drag the multiple icons across the edge/border to the next screen. Regardless, even folders won't help me because I need to move multiple icons out of the drawer and onto the homescreens.
I had an iPod Touch gen 3 at one time. It could do this using a jailbreak tweak called MultiIconMover. You just long-press an icon until they all begin to shake, then you tap multiple icons to select them. Then you move to a homescreen page and push the home button and it drops all of the selected icons onto that page. That was a few years ago. I can't believe that I could do something on an iOS device two or three years ago and I still can't do that same function on an Android device in late 2015. I see this same question asked over and over on various sites and no one seems to have an answer. Has no one really written an app for this or put it into a rom or launcher? It seems mind boggling that there isn't some way to accomplish this. I'm hoping that someone will see this post and can disclose the elusive app that can do this. If it doesn't exist, maybe someone can write it. :good: There are millions of apps and apparently this one doesn't exist.

You can do so in a touchwiz launcher.
Hit thanks if i helped you!
In touchwiz I see that I can create a folder in the drawer. I can then set the folder on the homescreen. However, I then need to manually drag the icons out of the folder and onto the homescreen, so that doesn't really accomplish much. If there was a method for mass emptying a folder and dumping it onto the homescreen, that would work.

I think next launcher has a modern in which you can just tap on icons and directly add them on the home screen
It seems that Nova Launcher 3 had this functionality, but they either removed it from version 4 or mine isn't configured properly. I can't find a configuration option to enable it. I'm not sure why they would remove the option.
Screenshot from v3. This menu comes up when you long-press the homescreen. If you select "apps", it takes you to a list of your apps where you can long press to enable selecting multiple apps and then move them all to the homescreen at once.

Screenshot from v4. When you long-press the homescreen, you don't get the same options. You can choose widgets, but there isn't an "apps" option.
Not sure if anyone still needs to know how to do this but I just figured it out after multiple searches. You can do it two ways with Nova Launcher
1. Long press blank space on home screen> widgets> apps or folder> hold and drag to screen. From there you can select the apps you want and it tells you how many spaces are available on that page to dump or you can create a folder from that screen.
2. If you already have a folder set up you can press the three dots at the bottom right corner and then press select apps and it takes you to that same thing in the first option. And from there you can add apps to the folder you did it from.
Hope this helps someone. Registered just to post this!

Thank you so much!
Thank you!
So I have been using several techniques to make shortcuts for a quick and efficient use of settings I frequently tab in and out, and therefore I know that it's possible to make shortcuts for specific sub-settings or "pages" of some apps (I believe the right dev word may be "activity"? Please do correct me if I'm wrong), for example to get to the Android "Notification Log".
But I was wondering if something similar was possible for any app to basically just "capture the app's current opened page" somehow (I don't know if it's like some kind of internal link/path but I would imagine it to be? Once again my knowledge is limited in this field so feel free to educate me or point me to the appropriate ressources), and then from it "paste" the link to that page in a shortcut app or directly create a shortcut of it on the home screen.

I hope that makes sense, to summarize the goal would be to avoid opening an app, going into a sub-menu, and another sub-menu to access one interesting page, and instead access it right away with a simple shortcut on the home screen.

Use a browser that has the option to create bookmark/page shortcuts on homescreen, open YouTube in your browser, login to Youtube, go to your watched page, open your browser settings and find the option add to homescreen or create shortcut.
I do this with Facebook, YouTube and XDA instead of using the apps, I use Firefox browser (allows adblocking and VPN on all of them without root via add-ons in Firefox settings) to create my shortcuts but other browsers can do the same thing. I enable the option in Facebook and YouTube to send notifications via email(Gmail) then set Gmail to notify me when it receives notifications from Facebook/Youtube. This allows me to receive notifications without needing Facebook app and YouTube app.
I disable the Facebook app and the YouTube app completely and just use the shortcuts I create. Another advantage to this is I don't have the Facebook app or YouTube app running in background at any time or using data in background or snooping/tracking activity.
There are also some apps in Playstore for rooted devices that can create shortcuts to individual parts of other apps and services.

That is one of them, some are pretty basic and some have various additional features.

Well this could work but unfortunately the "Time watched" screen seems to only be available in the YouTube app even though it's "based on the watch history across YouTube products" as it says:
Spoiler: Time watched screen
Here you can see that when accessing YouTube through Chrome the "Time watched" page is missing:

I'm actually using this app, but unfortunately YouTube's "Time watched" doesn't appear as an activity somehow.
