There is an entire thread about this here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gps-issues.4417711/page-2#post-87552393
I did not had the time yet to check if enabling location in auto detect mode sorted the issue.

Thanks for guidance. I did but the problem is not solved.

Did not work.

Also check this out (and the comments)
"If you open the workout widget on the watch and choose your workout from there instead of just selecting the run widget, you can see at the top of the screen that GPS and Heartrate are blinking. When they both are solid and you see your heart rate you are ready to press run or walk, etc. That way you know everything is locked in before you start your workout."

The problem is with the internal gps connection of the watch
The Google Fit app uses the phone's GPS
Few people have noticed this problem and Samsung has cleverly avoided fixing it
Has anyone been able to solve the problem?????????

Maybe in your watch, my GPS still works fine.
I don't use Google Fit and I don't exercise/hike with my phone - just the GW4 Classic 42mm.
GPS works fine and tracks/routes are recorded fine (within accuracy of the receiver).
Only existing issue is that auto-detection of exercise (walk/run/cycle) works but does not initiate GPS route recording; you need to start the exercise manually to have route recorded.

Weird, but worked for me>>>
removed original straps from watch
cleaned watch dial
powered off and heated up with hair dryer
powered on in outdoor
and voila!! GPS fixed. i have tracked cycling, running working fine now!
also i have changed straps locations (means, swapped upper and bottom straps)

Running/fitness on LG Urbane 2 LTE: GhostRacer app

It took me a long time to find a good running app for my LG Urbane 2 LTE and I found it: GhostRacer. I am sharing my findings with the community. This is the only developer who understands how to make a running/fitness app for an Android Wear smartwatch.
GhostRacer:
1) works with standalone watch, no phone needed,
2) GPS works,
3) large white font on black background, easy to read when running,
4) configurable screen-always-on,
4) configurable display,
5) export/sync with RunKeeper.
Those are GR's great features I found so far, there may be more.
If you have a GPS problem, try this beta version: https://plus.google.com/104460556988380178420/posts/De3AP9wu7js

I read about it somewhere else but forgot to download it then. Checking it out for sure....
I tried out Ghostracer and it recorded only the time run, not the distance. Then, I tried Runkeeper in the car, and it recorded almost twice as many miles as my car. Weird. I tried it a few times with the same results.

Assuming you are using LG Urbane 2 LTE which has a built-in GPS:
1. Make sure you have a GPS lock before start running. You can use Wear GPS to find if you have a lock.
2. Distances I get from watch are close to Google Maps.
3. Runkeeper: I know nothing for sure, but my guess is that it starts recording before GPS achieves good position accuracy. Start from Wear GPS and then switch to GhostRacer or RunKeeper.

Yes, it's the Wulte2. I'll try the above tips and report back, thanks.
Smatofu, it worked. The Wear GPS app did the trick!! Thanks so much for the tip - the dev who created this app is awesome.
Has anyone with watch urbane 2nd edition LTE noticed that Google Fit step counter is wildly inaccurate if you start a running activity?
In my case if I start the Google Fit running activity, the gps in Google Fit reports a 4 mile run as only about 1700 steps
Thx

Yes. I have the original version of the watch released in November and when I received the update to bring it up to speed with the new release the step counter got considerably worse. I don't know if it was completely accurate from the start, but steps definitely dropped a lot since the update, with or without Google fit tracking runs. I use ghostracer to track runs. I don't worry too much about steps but I wish it was a little more accurate.

Endomondo problems

After updating my Gear S3 to Tizen 3.0 I haven´t been able to get my Endomondo app on my watch to save or sync my workouts. I´ve got the latest app versions on both my phone and watch and have tried uninstalling and installing again with no luck. I suppose it has got something to do with the Tizen update as there were no problems before the update.
Anyone got a workaround for this problem?
Same here...and also there was an update few days ago. But it did not solve the issue.
Have you written to endomondo team about it?

Yeah, but no answer yet
This morning I tried Uninstalling and then installing the Endomondo app on both my S7 and Gear S3 and now there are no problems saving my workouts.
Endomondo support wrote to me that there are several users having troubles saving workouts and that they have contacted Samsung about this problem.
I removed Endomondo from my Gear S3 and added it again...it seems to be working now.
I followed your guys, reinstall and it works now !!!.
I've just tried Endomondo on my Gear S3 to record a kayaking activity. It worked, but the battery drained so fast from 98% to 15% for 4 hours. I must stop Endomondo in S3 to save battery, since I still had a few hours in the activity. It could only record half of the trip impractically. Wifi and bluetooth had been switch off previously, and audio alert of the app was disabled. The outdoor screen brightness was forced to 8 by this app in S3 that couldn't be decreased during the activity to save battery power.
I dare not to use this app for my outdoor activity again such as hiking and kayaking, unless there's another workaround to let me use it to record a trip for about 6 to 8.5 hours.

Health logging issues

Hi All,
I have had a non-4G Watch 2 now for about 6 months.
Has worked really well especially as a GPS run tracker with music.
About a week ago I noticed that the watch had stopped tracking my steps.
Then I went for a run using the Huawei workout tracking app and it only recorded the time. No GPS distance, no heartrate...nothing.
I have since factory reset the watch about 5 times.
On my phone I've data cleared or uninstalled Google Play services, Services framework, Google Fit, Google App, Huawei Health, Android Wear, Huawei Wear.
Everything pairs up again properly, the phone updates apps no issues at all...then still no tracking.
The heartrate app on its own can do a heartrate measurement, so it doesn't appear to be a hardware issue. GPS map will also show my track, but the app records no distance data.
So it seems like some strange software issue.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar or have any other suggestions for what to try?
Thanks
So this looks like its a hardware issue.
I enabled developer options and found down the bottom there is a manufacturer test suite that steps through tests of the screen, NFC, vibration motor, screen, magnetometer, accelerometer etc.
It failed the accelerometer and barometric pressure sensor tests.
I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the stock image just to make sure everything was properly refreshed, then I was able to download the Wear 8.0 update as well.
Ran the test suite and it again fails the acceleromoter and barometric pressure sensor tests. They just don't respond at all.
Have logged a warranty case with Huawei who are good enough to generate a con note to have the device couriered to their repair agent.
I highly doubt that any repair will take place, they will just confirm it doesn't work (I relocked the bootloader and factory reset it) and then hopefully replace it.

Gear S3 Blank distance.

Hi all.
Apologies if this has been addressed but I can't seem to find a solid answer. I have just bought a Gear S3 Non LTE version. I have enabled location and am using S Health / UA Record. Today I went for a parkrun without my phone, I got a GPS signal pretty quick but as I was running I noticed the Distance on the watched showed 0.0km. At the end of the run my watch sync'd with my phone, I can see my workout on S Health but the distance shows 0.0km. I can also see the map of the route but no markers.
I then tried using UA Record to do another quick run but same issue, distance showed as - - and wouldn't move.
I then tried a walk with my phone and the watch and the distance recorded fine.
Do I need nw phone with me to record distance? Surely not. Or am I just being a n00b and doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Could be the permissions of the S health app, if your watch is recording the kms you are running then is the phone app.
Try using other app or grant the proper permissions. Definitly using a Galaxy/Samsung phone do better job. I am using with note 8 and no problems so far.
Thank you for the message! But the watch does not track the kms if the phone is not with me. Even when I sync later there are no kms. I see no distance if I run without my phone. I have tried with 3 apps and all have the same issue.

That's just weird, the watch must track your distance without the phone. I use mine to run and I leave my phone home, using spotify and the s health in the watch.
One thing I noticed is that I need to lock the GPS before running because it takes up to 10 minutes to lock (some said) if I don't lock it the watch doesn't track my distance.

Question Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic - GPS problem with sport activities

I recently bought this watch and I am very pleased
But it surprised me that not all sports activities have GPS tracking.
Snowboard, MTB or snowshoe do not have GPS tracking. These activities have been used recently and I do not have a registered route.
Is there an option for each activity to have GPS tracking?
I've a similar problem with GPS functionalities: my watch is unable to fix satellites, I think this is a firmware bug
I found something about this problem:
LINK
Today I tried google fit and here gps works without any problems with activities.
Samsung needs to correct this error

The problem is with the internal gps connection of the watch
The Google Fit app uses the phone's GPS
Few people have noticed this problem and Samsung has cleverly avoided fixing it
