Galaxy Watch 5: Connect WiFi to captive portal Access Point - Wear OS General

I use to go to my gym with my watch alone, not carying my phone.
I would like my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro to be able to connect to the available WiFi, which requires a tap on the browser (captive portal) to connect. When trying to connect, the watch cleary says that "that WiFi AP is not compatible".
However, if I try with my phone, I can perfectly connect: after WiFi connection is established to the AP (open, no WiFi password), a notification appears saying something like "requires action to complete connection" and the browser opens. Just click a button and WiFi is working.
Why this can´t be made also on a Wear Os watch, which is Android?
Thank you.

[Q] Auto Connect Nexus 5 Bluetooth to Macbook Pro for Smart Lock

I would like to have my Nexus 5, (Android 5), automatically link to my Macbook Pro, (10.10), via bluetooth, whenever it's in range, and stay connected as long as it's in range for the purposes of engaging Smart Lock.
I've paired them from both directions, and I can send a file from the Nexus 5 to the MBP. If I try to use the "Connect to Network" choice from the MBP bluetooth preferences I get a "Network is Unavailable" message on the MBP. Unfortunately, for any of these activities the BT connection lasts for no more than the time it needs to transfer the file, or a few seconds otherwise.
I don't need to do anything via the bluetooth connection between computer and phone, I just want it to automatically connect and stay connected when in range, or failing that, let me manually connect and stay connected when in range. If there's some BT app that can achieve this, please feel free to point me in that direction.
Thanks

[Q] Any success with Wi-fi Direct?

So, finally got an opportunity to try the wi-fi direct feature on the SG6 but with no success unfortunately. I set my Sharp Aquos' input to "Screen Sharing" and begins looking for nearby compatible devices. I then go to the Wi-Fi direct feature and enable it and quickly finds my Sharp Aquos TV. I select connect on my phone, and then my TV prompts me if I want to allow this connection from my phone and I select YES. Eventually the connection fails. I may have to troubleshoot my local router and see if anything is blocking it. Wondering if anyone was able to successfully connect via Wi-Fi Direct?

Wifi direct doesn't use your router, thats the point of wifid, it doesn't use an AP.

Aaaah...understood! "Wi-Fi" was misleading to me. ha! Ok, so after reading your response, I did some searching. Apparently I needed to turn off my connection to my home WAP. I'll try this tonight. Thank you bobbarker2 for your insight!
Wi-Fi Direct™ is a wireless technology that enables Wi-Fi Direct devices to connect directly to one another. This means users on the go can print documents, share data, sync files, and display information from notebooks and netbooks, as well as from devices like smartphones and tablets. Products certified Wi-Fi Direct can connect to other wireless devices without joining a traditional wireless network or Wi-Fi® hotspot.
Note: Before you can use Wi-Fi Direct, you will need to disconnect from any Wi-Fi access points or turn off Mobile HotSpot®. When you turn Wi-Fi Direct on, any open connections will be ended.
Zameus , did you try this and what were the results?

Can I bypass my mifi hotspot's "login to wifi network" popup?

I just purchased a MiFi 500 LTE from Freedompop and have been playing around with it. It seems to work good of what I need, but I have one annoying thing I would like to see if I can bypass.
Each time I connect to the mifi, my phone (nexus 5 running stock 5.1.1) first shows a wifi icon with an exclamation point and then pops up a notification asking me to manually connect to the wifi network. Sometimes, the phone will go on and connect anyway after a few second delay. Sometimes, however, the phone will not connect, and I have to tap on the icon. When I tap on the icon, a blank page will appear. Sometimes, the blank page will immediately disappear and the phone will connect to the network automatically. However, sometimes it will not, and I have to tap on three dots in the top right corner where my options are to not connect to the network or to connect to the network as is. When I chose to connect to the network as is, it connects.
Does anyone know the cause for this? Is there some setting that I have wrong on the hotspot? Or, is this just they way these mifi hotspots are supposed to work? I was hoping it would be as seamless as connecting to my wifi router at home, where it just connects automatically as soon as it is detected.
Thanks

Craig's walky talky!

Craig's Walky Talky!
ok, this does not use voip, no servers, no Internet required!
It has 2 modes
1st mode (default on run) it simply uses your wifi modem to relay your voice data, so everyone using the app on the same wifi network can hear each other!
2nd mode "enable ap" this turns your phone into a wifi router, once enabled on 1 device.. on the other android device click wifi and scan for the ap from the first device..
This mode allows you to talk out in the open anywhere anyplace using just 2 or more android devices just like a real walky talky!
Oh and yes!.... it's the ONLY walky talky app which supports a floating mic! Yup browse the net / play games and still voice chat!

No suggestions?
Craig's Remote Control!
A Control your laptop/pc/desktop (98/xp/vista/win7/win8+) from your Android!!
Core Rewritten for more stability on lollipop!
Once the AP is enabled, it can't auto detect what the mobile Hotspot IP is. (No reciever) I'd. .. simply press reset/detect ip to force it to detect ...
Eg 0.0.0.0 simply hit reset button...

Craig's Walky Talky!
A Fun tool to allow you to chat with your voice over wifi on the same network!!
Now with easy AP setup, simply press the button to configure the password or open it etc...
Auto switch between wifi and AP from 1 button press!
Wifi access point allows up to 5 people up to 100m..
Default mode uses wifi.... screenshot attached
have tried this, and it works but in 1 second bursts, press 'send' on one handset and the other handset hears 'on/off/on/off/on...' etc. Not a continuous conversation as its just in bits, a bit like morse code.
It's possible there's a fault with wifi or you were too far from the router... does the same happen if you create a hotspot/AP?
I've tested this out on...
Galaxy express - ok
S2 - OK
Galaxy tab - Ok
S4 - ok
But i had issues with an s3, anyone able to confirm if this works on an S3? You might have one in the draw on still in use?
Thanks!

Gear S2 Wifi Authentication

Am I completely missing something here? Why can I not get my watch on our wifi network. It requires authentication. But if I make sure that bluetooth is enabled. It scans the network and I can see it. However if I try to connect it tells me authentication errors. But I can not find a single spot to add login or password or any authentication option. Only options to connect to wifi are AKA and SIM.. How the heck do I get this thing on a wifi network??
Try disconnecting from Bluetooth and allow your phone to locate your wireless network. You should now be prompted for SSID and password. I personally had a hard time entering a complex password as part of WPA2 requirements. So I enabled WPS on my router and used it to connect my S2 fairly quickly. Furthermore, I don't believe it will use Wifi as long as you are connected to the phone via bluetooth. It can switch to wifi if you are out of the range of bluetooth or choose to use the watch in standalone mode.
Sync your saved wifi information from your Samsung account to your watch. It will log into the wifi network. I had the same problem and after syncing with my phone's saved wifi info it says it's logged in but it will not transfer any data on that wifi network.
Works fine on my home network that only requires a password, but I want it to work everywhere I can connect to wifi with my phone.
Haven't found a solution yet.
