Craig's walky talky! - Android Apps and Games

Craig's Walky Talky!
ok, this does not use voip, no servers, no Internet required!
It has 2 modes
1st mode (default on run) it simply uses your wifi modem to relay your voice data, so everyone using the app on the same wifi network can hear each other!
2nd mode "enable ap" this turns your phone into a wifi router, once enabled on 1 device.. on the other android device click wifi and scan for the ap from the first device..
This mode allows you to talk out in the open anywhere anyplace using just 2 or more android devices just like a real walky talky!
Oh and yes!.... it's the ONLY walky talky app which supports a floating mic! Yup browse the net / play games and still voice chat!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.walkytalky.craigs.walkytalky

No suggestions?

Craig's Remote Control!
A Control your laptop/pc/desktop (98/xp/vista/win7/win8+) from your Android!!
Core Rewritten for more stability on lollipop!
Once the AP is enabled, it can't auto detect what the mobile Hotspot IP is. (No reciever) I'd. .. simply press reset/detect ip to force it to detect ...
Eg 0.0.0.0 simply hit reset button...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.craigs.remote

Craig's Walky Talky!
A Fun tool to allow you to chat with your voice over wifi on the same network!!
Now with easy AP setup, simply press the button to configure the password or open it etc...
Auto switch between wifi and AP from 1 button press!
Wifi access point allows up to 5 people up to 100m..

Default mode uses wifi.... screenshot attached

have tried this, and it works but in 1 second bursts, press 'send' on one handset and the other handset hears 'on/off/on/off/on...' etc. Not a continuous conversation as its just in bits, a bit like morse code.

It's possible there's a fault with wifi or you were too far from the router... does the same happen if you create a hotspot/AP?

I've tested this out on...
Galaxy express - ok
S2 - OK
Galaxy tab - Ok
S4 - ok
But i had issues with an s3, anyone able to confirm if this works on an S3? You might have one in the draw on still in use?
Thanks!

Guide!! Using your WM6.1 device as access point via your router

Hello This guide is made up from the knowledge i have build up from advice given on XDA and information on other sites.
I have found this very useful in my home and hope you do to.
First off, this guide explains everything you need to do to use your diamond as the access point to the internet at home for all devices. (PC's, PS3, XBOX360, Wii)
It is highly recommended that you have a unlimited data allowance!!!!! Otherwise you could have a hefty bill at the end of the month.
Right what you will need :
A WM6.1 Device (I used a Diamond) with an unlimited data allowance tariff,
A WiFi router (i have used an old router that was installed with Tiscali BB)
WMWifiRouter version 0.80 (please find this your self i will not provide it)
and some basic knowledge of networking on PC's and your devices.
Thats it. Please don't be put off by the networking side of things its really easy to do.
Right first off we need to get your diamond taking to your router.
switch on your router and let it do its thing for 2-4 mins
Connect your diamond to the wifi router by switching on your wifi in settings, communications on touchflow, when prompted, connect to your router and enter your network key.
THIS IS THE SAME PROCESS AS CONNECTING TO A WIFI HOTSPOT.
Its that simple.
Next switch off your wifi in settings, communications.
Install WMWifiRouter version 0.80 (Simple and stable)
once installed open WMWifiRouter and press connect.
This should then setup your phone to be used as a access point and connect to your wireless network all at once.
Once it says connected you can turn off your phones main screen by pressing the off switch at the top and put your phone where there is best signal! HSDPA is needed to get up 7.2mbps (little H in signal area)
Right now you need to setup your laptop or device to talk to the phone via your router!
So here are the settings you need to setup in either TCP/IP (manual connection) or a manual connection on your device (PS3, Wii, XBOX360).
I will use a laptops connection as a example because all you need to do is to copy the settings to another device using a different IP address.
If you use wifi or a hardwired connection, right click the telly with the wifi connection in the bottom right of the screen and click open network connections (XP only dont know for vista), Or if the telly is not displayed in the bottom righthand cornner of the task bar then click start, control panel, network connections.
Click on the connection you wish to use i.e local area connection or wireless network connection (you can setup both connections by repeating these steps on each connection)
this should bring up a general tab of this connection, click properties.
This will bring up another box with the network properties, all you need to do is manually enter your IP settings and DNS settings so double click on "internet protocol [TCP/IP]"
Another box appears.
Click "use the following IP address"
In IP address type "192.168.0.xxx" xxx being the unique 3 digit code of your choice, write this down for your firewall settings on other devices if you run a networked drive etc. Each new device will need its own unique 3 digit code ie PC = 192.168.0.100, XBOX360 = 192.168.0.200, Wii = 192.168.0.123 etc.
In Subnet mask type "255.255.255.0"
In Default gate way type "192.168.0.1
Now click "Use the following DNS server address"
In preferred DNS server type "192.168.0.1"
Thats it, press ok and ok on any other boxes still left open.
Your network device will rest your IP and DNS settings to the ones you have just entered, thus allowing you computer to access the mobiles phones internet connection via your router
On all your devices Manually setup all your connections using these settings and they will all use your mobile phone to connect to the internet.
Using DHCP to configure your network is not advised as its unreliable at finding your phones connection.
Now if you want to start using your phone as a phone again, open up WMWifiRouter again if its not already and click options Quit.
To get internet access on other devices via your phone again all you need to do is to start WMWifiRouter and press connect. Start using the internet!!!
If you wish to use your laptop on another hotspot, you will need to reset the TCP/IP settings back to automatic, otherwise it will not work.
Using this process sometimes causes the phone to disable its own internet connection, so a soft reset after exiting WMWifiRouter is recommended.
Have fun, im sorry if its all a little messy but i have never been very good at writing these guides.
If any modd wants to add or edit this post then please feel free. any persons wanting to add to this guide please do so.
Yes i know you can connect your phone to your laptop by USB, Bluetooth, but this method allows multiple devices to use the same phone to access the internet at the same time and via a access point at the highest possible speed, so games consoles can use it!!! Brilliant if you get a good HSDPA signal and live in the country.
Oh one last thing! if you are a youngster and wish to try this, please do so on other equipment, don't use your family's main router and laptop or PC unless its no longer in use!!!
Thank You

Wireless only when needed

Hello,
I'm looking for a software that could automatically turn Wifi On/off when needed
For instance, Wifi is off and I start Opera ... then this SW will detect the request for an internet connection and will activate automatically WiFi.
When leaving opera, it should close de Wifi connection
At program launch of any program requiring an internet connection (Opera, Mail, Skype, Goople maps, ...)
1) If WiFI is already on ... then nothing special to do
2) If Wifi is off, ask user if Wifi should be enabled ?
3) If yes, enable Wifi .. else nothing to do
At program exit
1) If WiFI is off ... then nothing special to do
2) If Wifi is on , ask user if Wifi should be disabled ?
3) If yes, disable Wifi .. else nothing to do
Is such this existing ?
Thanks
I was using Wireless time for that, but only works configuring time zones, and inhabilites the posibility of being wifi activated manually.
It wil be interesting a program that switch wifi on or off depending on the programs you are using.
Interesting, this could work with 99% the same logic and code I am using for WMLongLife (dev build, not released app)... just instead of 3G do Wi-Fi. I may consider making a modified version for this purpose.

[QUESTION] Bluetooth Internet Access Help

I am using ARHD ROM (with Bricked Kernel).
My car can access and read out RSS threads and has a lot of interactive media functions, including being able access the internet via my bluetooth enabled phone. But I can't seem to get it to work fully, and really don't know if it is a ROM / Kernel / Phone issue or a car issue. I just don't know enough about the various bluetooth protocols etc, and as much as I research it, I keep going around in circes.
The car will connect to the phone and work fine as a bluetooth headset for telephone calls. It will also display the caller picture without issue and will access and read out my emails (using stock sense Mail client) and SMS messages. It also seems to connect to audio OK (although I never use it as it has a USB port that will accept a pop drive, so all my music is on the dashboard).
But the internet connection doesn't seem to work. I have looked into this and can't work out if it is a PAN or DUN profile issue. Soemtimes I can get the phone to show an internet connection being available to the car, sometimes it doesn't depending on which ROM I use and I can't seem to get any to work regardless.
Looking on the website, it claims the following:
How can I configure my mobile device for internet or BMW TeleServices usage?
In the operating manual of your mobile device you will find instructions on configuring “Access Point Name (APN)”; other names for this may be “Internet Settings”, “Modem Settings” or “Tethering Settings”. The required settings are available from your service provider. Please note that most Sony Ericsson mobile devices only recognise the first entry in the APN list, so it is recommended that all other APN configurations be deleted.
Can somebody please help me with this. I really am baffled as to how to get this to work.

Bump. Anybody?

It has been a year or 2 since I got bluetooth networking going. Today I tried to get my phone to connect to my windows 7 desktop and.... it couldn't even connect sadly enough. Anyways this is from memory so it may or may not be correct. I don't like posting incorrect stuff because you never know who will read/flame.
1. pair your phone to the other device
2. connect via bluetooth your phone to the other device
3. I used the app in the link below to turn on bluetooth tether. Your kernel needs to support this feature. Just a note, there are 2 apps off the link. One is wifi only, the other does bluetooth and wifi. Assuming you get this app, turn on bluetooth tether. I don't know if you should turn tether on then connect bluetooth. Maybe it doesn't matter.
4. This step I don't quite understand. The bluetooth tether should "offer" a network service to the remote device. The remote device in turn must recognize the service and use it. DHCP is the easiest to auto configure everything. If you need a name server, use 8.8.8.8 since that is a public dns server by our google overlords.

[TASKER] Share your best Tasker profiles!

So we need a Tasker thread for Verizon Galaxy Note 4, with out Root.
Always fun to see others ideas on Tasker Profiles, here are mine.
Please share your Tasker Profiles.
WIFI Starter
WIFI Stopper
These both work with 5 tasks, and use cell tower to check for WIFI then start or stop. Found this on WIKI.
Auto Off Unpaired Bluetooth
This will turn off Bluetooth if I just kill the headset. Found this on WIKI.
Headset Plugged Any
I use headset plug in my car, sure Bluetooth is nice, maybe i'm old but I still get better flow just plugging in.
On any headset plugged it checks to see if am by or connected to any of my WIFI points first.
Then if not it sets; open music player (player set to resume play), mute sounds so they don't bug me while i'm listening to my music, Display to 30 second time out, and Media volume to level 14
The media volume is great because Samsung or Google Kit Kat has a pop-up that tells you you are setting sound high, and it can hurt your ears. With this setting that pop-up never goes off.
On headset remove the exit task reverts all. I made this myself.
Received Text While Driving
Checks i'm not near or connected to any of my WIFI points, checks for headset plugged in, any text received, and moving over 5 MPH. If all met send reply text "(AUTO) I'm currently driving. Will respond to you when I can safely."
Found on WIKI and made some adjustments myself.
WIFI Connected Home Unlock (needs Local Password Lock Plug-in)
On connect to my home WIFI checks MAC #, then using plug-in sets lock to 3 hours. On exit it sets lock back to 30 seconds. I made this myself.
WIFI all Beep On Connect
Set to make a low quick beep when connected to one of my WIFI's. Set to make high quick beep on disconnect. I made this myself.
http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index
I like this thread idea! I haven't put tasker on my new phone yet, but on my last one I had the following profiles:
Auto silence/vibrate all ring tones when I connect to my work wifi
Auto max all volumes when I connect to my home wifi
Auto dim screen to lowest brightness setting at 2am (so I don't blind myself when I look at my phone in the middle of the night or morning)
I had just gotten started, but I really liked the home automation possibilities. I want to create one that checks when I join my home wireless network to see if it's between 4p-6p on Monday - Friday, and if so, open my garage door and unlock my back door
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
I just use one profile, a must have for me. When I get in my car and the Bluetooth is connected, I have Tasker turn WiFi off and start spotify. It turns WiFi back on and kills spotify when the car is turned off.

The only one I have running right now uses Tasker, IFTTT, and PebbleTasker to control my WeMo light switches from my Pebble Watch. There is a IFTTT channel to use a text message to turn on and off your Wemos so i have a taker task to text the special command to the IFTTT phone number. Then all i had to do was link that task to Pebble tasker and now I can hit a button on my watch and turn on my lights.
On my S4 and S5 I had another profile that would turn off lock screen security when my Pebble was attached to bluetooth. Unfortunately, without root I am unable to replicate that on my N4. I also had one using my bank's text banking to receive my balances via text from the Tasker on my Pebble.

Was able to do this with Tasker + Secure Settings
Locks when watch isn't connected (Lock Device + Set Password)
Unlock when watch is connected (Clear password)
I had to turn off/on Bluetooth after setting it up for it to recognize my watch.

That is awesome news. I will have to try that. The novelty of the fingerprint reader is starting to wear off so I would love to go back to watch unlock.
Edit: Got it to work with a PIN. Just couldn't make the fingerprint or pattern lock due to lack of root.
I tried using LED Controller, but it's causing me all kind of bad settings, will have to uninstall it
The tasker profile I like and use is to enable GPS and turn GPS off when launching Google Maps... I also have one that enables NFC and turns NFC off upon launching and closing Google Wallet

How did you get the Wifi Starter Stopper to work because it sure as hell is not working for me....The task is green, its just not turning the Wifi On...If I turn the Wifi on itself manually, then it switches to the Wifi Stopper task, seems to me it doesnt work. Any help would be great...Do we keep the * around the SSID of the Wifi broadcast?

First grab this on the wiki, it includes 5 tasks and 2 profiles. In the wifi starter profile have it search for cell tower, as I add new locations I cut all i have in there, do a new search, then add the others back.
then in the task wifi checks params under varable set add your wifi name, yes leave the astrix and add a forward slash between multiple wifi locations. *bobwifi*/*tomwifi*/*frankwifi*
then here is the trick, once back on wifi checks params and then click play once to get things going, then back out of tasker and move in and out of your location.
NFC on on wallet app is awesome idea, thanks man!
I ended up doing this, NFC on/open Wallet. No exit task as I like to go back to see my purchase. Having it auto-open is great though, as I used to turn on NFC then find wallet and open.

Thanks for the information I am using one that is working pretty well that was also on wiki.
The problem I was having is how long it took, but it would not connect unless I went into the task and hit play button to run the task... Under profile it would be green but it would not connect... It only connected from manual input
Edit - I never left my location though I just turned off wifi to see if it would turn my wifi back on... It's a complex task I am not sure how to adjust the time for it to happen faster

gotcha! if you decide to try again you will want to change the time on -tasks / WIFI Start /Wait- to something smaller, default is 2 minutes, I set mine down to 1 minute.
GPS when using Google maps
any idea how to do this? I have no tasker knowledge.
I was hoping to find some profiles I could install.
Any help would be great. I found some but they dont turn off GPS after finished using the app.
Thank you.

Sorry further review is showing that you need root.
However, there is no need to, you should simply turn GPS on and leave it. Android works fine with this and when not in use it does not run, it is not always checking GPS unless you have some app asking for GPS location running.

I have this setup so that it works with bluetooth in my car, my Bluebuds headphone, or my home theater receiver. So basically if I'm at home, in the car, or listening to music/podcasts at work I don't have to deal with the PIN but when I'm out and about my phone is secure.
Could anyone help me with making two profiles please? I use SwiftKey, and when it's active. Toggle pie off. And when keyboards not active it turns back on.
And if I send my self a message it turns mute mode off. (with a certain phrase) I got it to work with default message but don't know how to make it work with chompsms :/ I've asked around but no response really. Thanks for your time.

Galaxy Watch 5: Connect WiFi to captive portal Access Point

I use to go to my gym with my watch alone, not carying my phone.
I would like my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro to be able to connect to the available WiFi, which requires a tap on the browser (captive portal) to connect. When trying to connect, the watch cleary says that "that WiFi AP is not compatible".
However, if I try with my phone, I can perfectly connect: after WiFi connection is established to the AP (open, no WiFi password), a notification appears saying something like "requires action to complete connection" and the browser opens. Just click a button and WiFi is working.
Why this can´t be made also on a Wear Os watch, which is Android?
Thank you.
