Question Wondering about factory reset - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

I just bought a S22U from Samsung. Is it good to factory reset my phone when I first get it? Basically just make sure everything is as it should be.

Doesn't matter if new. Should load on first boot like it was just factory reset in it's set up phase.
If you do a major firmware upgrade right at the get go then a factory reset be a good plan.
Enjoy...

No need, in my mind

[Q] factory reset?

Alright, probably a dumb question..but if I factory reset my phone will my personal number be lost from the phone, like will it be deactivated and ill have to go to USC and reactivate it. Or will it just restore to when I first started using it and ill just have to start from scratch
Which phone do you have?
Generally, most operating systems will just go back to how it was when you got it. You won't lose your number or anything.
The optimus u. Basically the deal is, I rooted my phone without thinking, and I changed my boot animation, and I am going to get the desire instead and I don't the USC to know it was rooted lol. Not thinking on my part:/

[q] phone stuck on rom i hate!!! Help!!!

I got the smart idea (though now I say it was stupid) to put a custom rom on my phone. Found one I like, or so I thought... I like parts of it but hate other parts of it and now I want something new.
I have done a factory reset and wiped everything REPEATEDLY yet this darn rom is still stuck on here!!!! How do I get rid of it???? :'(
A factory reset, resets it to the factory settings of the current ROM.
Factory resets don't change ROMS.
You will have to find a file with your old ROM and flash it back.

[Q] Complete Factory Reset

I'm wondering if there's a good way to do a complete factory reset (sdcard wipe, radio reset, system reset). I'm running Android Revolution right now, I think I effed up when I was changing radios, the phone is really buggy right now. Is there a good process for this? I'm not super skilled, but if somebody could list some steps to take, that would be very helpful, thanks!
Nevermind. Shouldve looked at the hack kit more closely.

If a factory wipe in CWM + install custom rom doesn't work, then you've got bigger problems and a complete factory reset to stock isn't going to help.
People seem to have a gross misconception on just what "rooted" means. It's not like some super secret process running in some hidden location on the phone (like a rootkit in linux) but just a single bit flipped in the radio hardware. S-ON/S-OFF is just a switch. It's on or it's off and there's really nothing more to it than that; it's just that to actually get to that switch, you need to jump through a lot of hoops.

Question about factory resetting

If I factory reset my phone, will the phone re-lock as well?
Since I bought an unlcocked phone, thought I'd ask before performing any reset.
I read that once a phone is unlocked, it's unlocked for good.
But better safe than sorry, anyone know?
No it won't.
Sent from <redacted in the interests of global security> using the power of my mind.
No, it won't re-locked. But before a factory reset, you'd better back up your data first.

Waiting for my U11 and factory reset

I'm waiting for my phone to be delivered, and am assuming it will be on Nougat and will upgrade to Oreo when it arrives. Should I factory reset it after the upgrade, or will it be good to go? Can't wait for it to arrive, snowed in at the moment in Ireland!
Anyone? Is there any benefit in doing a factory reset?
I would recommend a factory reset after updating to Oreo can't hurt if there is nothing to lose on the phone.
Just a plain old factory reset then, no wiping cache or anything else?
I'd do a full wipe if you have to lose. When I got mine first I updated through ota, full wipe with Oreo then started to add accounts and apps. Don't think you have to but thought it would be best for to start fresh with Oreo
Misinformation galore!.
You don't need to factory reset after updating unless you experience problems. The updates are approved to not knacker the device.

I actually didn't bother, thought that as it was just out of the box, bit pointless to wipe it.
I agree only wiped as read about issues people had with wakelocks and had nothing to lose as it was just out the box. You are right not really required until you have issues.
