As per the title.
How firm are your slide mechanism? When holding the device in your right hand (fingertips along left edge of device), does the device give a little as you change your grip/pressure (for example, as if you're manipulating the volume keys?).
EDIT:
As an aside, those buttons would have been better off on the "base" (keyboard section edge) of the device rather than on the screen section, that way when pressing them they wouldnt have caused this slight give in the slide mechanism!! Jesus, HTC need to employ some of us from here!!

Good point, but a few guys do. Black with his AT&T one, few others etc. Just looking for some opinions. Personally, I think the spring could be a little more resistive.
I got mine today finally from Clove, lucky enough was in the first shipment have been setting it up for the last couple of hours and the keyboard is fine.
Slight Keyboard give
I would agree with you to a point, Syphon Filter.
When looking at the screen, it seems that the palm of my hand is catching the bottom right edge of the keyboard in its closed position and 'twisting' it a little when the volume is adjusted.
However, I've found that the volume buttons are in the right place when using them incall.
(The actual sliding mechanisim feels pretty solid to me.)
There's a little give, not so much a shift but more of a flex, definitely feels good for a sideways slider.

I guess it's 28 pounds delivery with DHL and 20 the old fashion way. At least when ordered from here in Finland. Didn't dare to accept the order yet.
Virtually no give in mine at all, feels solid.
Mine is solid and has been "thoroughly" used and handed around for wow factor for the past few days. It is well built and better, if I remember correctly, than the O2 XDA IIs (Blue Angel) for it's keyboard sturdiness mechanism.

Hi I'm based in the UK sorry
Appears firm to me, there's a little scraping noise as the keyboard is opened but not on close. Haven't been able to pin down where it's coming from yet.

I there's a little slidey thing that covers the ribbon cable. As you open/close that it moves. That's what is causing the noise your just described.
Fine. Another slight improvement from HTC's latest slider, in my opinion...
Totally agree with the comment about the volume buttons, too. Bit daft putting them somewhere where the act of pressing them means you're also opening up the keyboard...

Yeah they should have just moved then onto the bottom half of the slide!
So when you press your volume buttons (just enough to make them "press") does your slide move at all?
Mine does a tiny bit. if the spring was a little stiffer it would be spot on.
What about the power button when trying to remove the back?
I keep turning it back on when I want it to be switched off and remove the battery! Just something I will have to get used to no doubt!
After receiving my Fuze/Rap today, I also noticed a 1/32 inch twist when opening the phone. My only only other HTC slide experience is the 8125 which after 4 years has a more tight opening action.
I have to have faith in the Raph after all the faithful years with my other slide out.
US- Virginia Beach
it sounds like something comes loose when i slide my fuze open. then there is something that rattles around in it. i tried to return it but all the fuzes they had at the store made the same sound. unique?
Mine is a little loose as well - I wondered if anyone else had the same issue. I can (with very little effort) make the screen move about 2-3mm away from the keyboard. It does feel a lot more loose than the 8525 did to me.. I'm not sure how that will play out over the lifetime of the phone, but I can expect it to only get worse (hopefully not!)
Love the phone though in general.
Hello guys...
After too much confusion I finally decided to purchase XPS. Just few questions:
1) I read it has plastic body, does that plastic body get scratches too easily after all its main advantage is its design ? Because every now and then my phone fell down from the bed
2) What about its dev community ? Are the new games like asphalt 6, modern combat 3, shadowgun available for the xps ?
3) and yes, what about the Yellow tint issue ? Is it resolved by the sony or still I am in luck to find a good phone ?
4) What you suggest, should I wait for HTC One X price to drop so I can buy it ... Because I would love Quad core, will my xps dual core lag if I play games too much ?
Guys.. I am thinking to change the decision just bcoz of yellow tint issue
talk.sonymobile.com/thread/34135?start=645&tstart=0 45 pages !!! too many users having this problem
Do you still want answers to your questions since you're thinking of not getting it? What device are you planning to get in that case?

I am confused again When I first got to knw abt yellow tint I thought it must be on very few phones.. but I guess I am wrong ?
I really like xperia, got xperia active right now. Don't want to get something else than xperia s but I don't want to take risk !
If you "don't want to take the risk" then choose a different device. Otherwise, get it (It's your choice).

Do you have xperia s? or if any of the reader has it.. can I ask what "good thoughts" you have so u purchased it regardless of its yellow tint issue... ?
the case on SEs don't get scratches easy, I dropped mine about 12 times, no scratches on the case or cracks on the screen, only thing is when I used my foot to bring it back to me - bad idea.

Some people report not having it, treating it by pressing down on the screen, it fading away overtime or when the battery temperature is low, it staying forever, etc, so I don't know.
I think S2 or Sensation XE would be my choice if I don't buy XPS because SIII and HTC One X is out of my budget. These would be my first time purchasing any non sony ericsson mobile. I had W302, then X10 mini pro, then Active and now it would be XPS if there had been NO yellow tint issue ... But I would search on internet more on this and tell you guys which mobile I go with.
Any other choice than XPS, S2, XE with same budget?
Guys.. Even for yellow tint issue I am going for XPS I will try to purchase the phone from latest batch and will tell you how it goes !!! I hope I won't get the yellow tint issue :good:
if ever u get the yellow tint, you can get it replaced.
about scratches, mine just got its first bigtime,. fell about 2 feet on street and top corner border for the back cover easyly got dented! was thinking of melting it back to position but it may just look worse.,
soft matte finish = bigtime scratch magnet

I've had my Xperia S since initial release in the UK so I will answer these questions as best I can for you.
1. You'll be fine with not getting scratches too easily because I've only got a few scratches on my back cover and I've dropped it loads when I've been drunk.
2. Yes, those games you mentioned are available but the 3 newest ones to become available are Asphalt 7, The Amazing Spiderman and Sonic 4 Episode II and they all run perfectly without lag. I confirm that myself.
3. I believe I'm right in saying that you won't have the yellow tint issue because that was only on the earlier releases, like mine. AFAIK, all models made since then haven't had this issue. But even if you do, as mentioned you can send it to Sony and they will send you a replacement.
Not gonna answer question 4 because you've already bought this phone. I hope this has helped you

Thanks, Games are working very good. Like shadowgun, modern combat 3, asphalt 6 have very good graphics and looking very good on this phone. For yellow tint, I heated my phone with these games and donot find it. I hope it will be stay this forever!
I am not sure why I am having so much trouble removing the straps from the Gear S2 (sport) as I have looked at a couple of videos that make it look easy. I pull back the latch and then tug like hell to get the strap off nearly breaking my thumb, it can sometimes take 2 or 3 minutes. I am also worried that I might break the watch in the process.
Has anyone else had a problem or is it just me? If not maybe you could share a couple of tips on the best way to remove them. I have 3 different colour straps that I am reluctant to use because of this!

You're supposed to push the latches away from the watch and slide the band off easily. You shouldn't have to tug on it at all.

Yeah, pretty much what I do. Pushing the latch away and then trying to slide out the strap. Maybe I am pulling at an angle or something. I don't normally get phased by these sorts of problems but this one is frustrating!
.
Are they original samsung straps? That could also be your problem, they probably just need to broken and warn in

They aren't original, so yes I think you're right. I just put the old ones back on and they are much easier to take off! So hopefully the problem solved. Thanks
I would just keep playing with the locking mech off the watch. You just have to get them "greased" in if you will!
My bands won't come off. They are not the originals because they broke. I have tried everything to get them off. But it's stuck the bottin will go in but the strap will not move. I have even put the watch face down and tried it won't work. What should I do?

HI all,
this is my first fold: i did not buy the fold1 (mostly because it was very hard to find here where i am and because of the front mini screen).
But now things are different: the outer screen is a screen, the phone was launched here in italy as well and now my wallet is way lighter.
due to the big amount of money given and not having owned any other foldable, i have 1000 thoughts running through my head, one of which is wheter it is best for the crease to keep the phone open when not in use during the day and when charging...
what are your thoughts?
Personally, as with most people very likely, I keep the phone closed when not in use or when charging to make sure there can be no accidental knocks or scratches to the main big screen. Unless you sit there constantly opening and closing the phone all day every day for a good period of time you aren't going to have any problems with the fold/hinge for a long time.
The phone is a lot tougher than a lot of people think. It is very well built and even the original Fold has lasted well over time for most.
I keep it open while working from home it's on a stand ...closed the rest of the time ..my first fold device but it's well built for sure ..I feel confident on durability.
I do keep mine closed most of the time until I want to use an app on the large screen. I have wireless charging stands that work best when closed.
I've been looking for a holder in my car where I could keep it open for Google Maps, but can't seem to find something that would hold it down and keep it from moving.

I would be more preoccupied of the phone not following than on the driving
What kind of a monster would charge this with the screen open!
I do, ...overnight, ...turned off, ...on its wireless charging base

That's how I use mine, I treat it like a tablet at home. If I had it closed, I would use the cover screen more than inner screen.

I bought the flip3 in august, i use it a lot and the screen is perfect... I've seen a Z Flip 5g (old generation) exposed and used in a mall for many month form any visitors, opened and closed hundred of times a day and the screen was perfect.
