After a couple of weeks using my 6A, I love it. My only gripe is, I can't find where to disable the built in weather app. Not sure if it has to be rooted to do it or what. Anyone know how to disable it?
Long press -> Customize -> Home settings. Turn off "At a Glance". Or, customize "At a Glance" further, and turn off Weather. I don't think you can remove the date.
Thank you. That got rid of At a Glance.
Is there a way to get it off the lock screen too?
I don't think so...
On my Pixel 6a, when I turned of weather for the "At A Glance" it also turned it off on the lock screen. The date of course, is still there as that can't be removed. Hope that helps.
Finally found the "At a glance" I thought I turned off, but didn't. Turned off Weather and it's gone from the lock screen as well.
Thanks everyone! Appreciate the help.
Thought I would share to path I used to get to the At a Glance and Weather. Google App->Settings->Google Assistant->All Settings->At a Glance. Weather is under Features.
I'm not exactly sure about the weather app on your specific phone, but it might be worth checking in your phone's settings or contacting the manufacturer's support team for assistance.
On a side note, if you're interested in integrating weather data into your own app or website, you might want to check out https://www.worldweatheronline.com/weather-api/ weather API. They offer a variety of weather data that you can access and use in your own projects. It's a great resource to have if you're looking to add some weather functionality to your own app or website.

It is just three weeks that I got my Nexus One and I should say I really loved it. So I start writing applications that is useful for me and I think it could be useful for others, so I publish them (now just two) on the market.
This one is Dock Utility that currently support two actions:
Enable/Disable Wifi Hot-Spot when you put down (and pick up) the phone on Desk Dock. And Enable/Disable Screen/Keyboard lock on the same event.
You can of course choose with one you want to enable or disable. Just get the app from market ( it named "Dock Utility") and test it.
I have plan to add two widgets to this app to enable/disable hot-spot and lock from the home screen. Let me know what other features can you think of.
You definitely can guess that you need Froyo to run this.
Just saw this app on the market. Pretty sweet...
Very Nice
This is a nice little app.
New Features
I add some features to this app such as:
- Keep Display On
- Keep app in memory during dock ( to make sure it will do the job on the Undock, most of the things will done even if you kill the app during dock but not all of them )
- Disable Clock App.
For last feature, I prevented clock app to appear when you dock the phone, but still it show up when you push home button, any Idea how I can also disable that? I digged a lot in SDK, couldn't find a good solution, the only solution I've found is install a fake app to disable clock functionality.
New Release
A new version released, check the app's website for changelog.
I have Beautiful Widgets Home with weater, and the Beautiful Weather Live wallpaper. It is really cool.
But, there is no way to configure who to use for a weather provider, and it is not even close. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I don't think so.
I have it set to update every hour. And over the past 2 hours it has dropped from low 90s to 74, and has been raining for 90 min or so.
the weather on the home says 95 degrees, and the live weatehr page shows brigh sunny, with white clouds going by.
Anyone having better luck with this?
[EDIT]
I think maybe I figured it out. We'll see after some changing weather.
But I had it checked on settings to use GPS. But, GPS doesn't come in inside the house, so it had wrong location. Even thought Geolocation was set too. But I unchecked the GPS, and saved it, and it appears to have the weather right for the live wallpaper.
Anyone know how geolocation works? (I think I'm remering the name of it right).
i am also having a problem with the Widget and live wallpaper updating. The sun rises and sets and it gets dark but my Temp is not updating and we just had a crazy storm here and it still says sunny....any help?
I had fancy Widgets which had weather but it was off by 4 or 5 degrees F.
Got rid of it. Using just digotal clock now. Simple and no wrong info.

i must have changed something....can someone post some good settings? This is one of the most downloaded apps so i must just be screwing something up.
I know that time stops updating if you use a task killer and kill beautiful widgets. I imagine this applys to the weather also.
I think this is an issue that the LevelUp Studio people are aware of. According to this tweet, it sounds like they're going to release an update that uses a new weather data provider.
It's a problem with Google's weather service. Every app and widget that pulls data from Google's weather services has been having problems for a while now. That's why they will be switching to a new provider.
Until I can get a cool clock/weather app that works correctly, I will use it. Until then, I use retro clock and Weather Bug.
Beautiful widgets has been updated to use accuweather.com for forcasts now.

This is correct and works great now.
I'm having weather updating issues with the current Beautiful Widgets. Anyone else? No task killer running. Using Accuweather. Manually clicking update does nothing. Would be nice if it showed a last updated timestamp. I can click to weather details and I see that Accuweather has different weather than the widget.
Does the developer have an official support channel? Can't find one and he never responded to a twitter request.
I think they may have. I just tried to find it by going to their links in Appbrain, but only found a home page with no method there to communicate to them.
But at this link on Appbrain, there is an icon to click where you can email them. I have no idea if you will get support or response.
I'm running the SkyICS rom with the ICS lockscreen and one thing I love is that there is the option to either unlock the phone or to directly open the camera app, which is handy because very often I'm getting my phone for the sole purpose of taking a picture. I was wondering, is there any way to customize or has anyone made a customized lockscreen that has other apps available on it? I'd like to have a lockscreen where depending on where/how you swiped you could go directly to camera or sms or the web browser or the general unlock. Does such an app/mod exist, or is there a way to do it manually?
Thanks
Edit: Apparently I forgot the original bit of advice before "Search is your friend" is "GOOGLE is your friend." Looks like WidgetLocker LockScreen may be a good option. Before I throw down $2.99, is that what I'm looking for? Also, can we confirm that it works well with ICS?
I use Widget Locker and, if you have a few tasks you do consistently and don't want to open up the phone to access everything, then it's very useful. It does work with ICS, but if you're just interested in being able to open the camera it's not worth the money. It's worth it if you want to access more features at once, like the dialer & e-mail & SMS & camera because it's very customize-able.
I use Widget Locker as well. Works great, very customizable (especially with all of the themes available here)
Well worth it if you want to truly make your lockscreen your own. I've combined it with Missed It so I can see texts/calls/emails at a glance.
Hi gang,
I've got an old android device running CM11 that I'm using mainly as an alarm clock.
I'd like to be able to run only the clock app (Gentle Alarm) .... and then if I want to use any other apps like email or whatever, I'd have to unlock the device.
A lock screen widget doesn't quite cut it, as I'd like the full functionality of the alarm clock app (or actually, *any* app I select, for that matter) available, but as soon as I click the home or back button, I'd be taken to my lock screen.
I could see this feature being useful for lots of reasons... say if I had a tablet as a remote control for the TV/stereo that guests could use, yet i didn't want them running other games or apps.
Is this possible?
Am I off my rocker?
So much easier than I thought..... Using CM12+ (Lollipop) I can "pin" an app which will enable it to be the only app which can run - switching to another app or going home presents the user with the lock screen. Perfect.
I feel like a bit of an idiot not realizing this was a built-in feature of the OS. But hopefully this info will help someone else along the way.........
I honestly hate Samsung's launcher, but I've been stuck with it since I got my Note 5 because well, it was the only one that supports Samsung's nifty My Places feature, which auto mutes my phone when I get to school and unmutes it when I leave. It's a really handy widget on the home screen that also happens to have next-to-no noticeable impact on battery life.
On the Note 5, Samsung's TW launcher was the ONLY launcher that supports it, not so on the S7. Nova can see and add it to home now, and so can a variety of other launchers. However, Nova drains way too much battery in idle in my experience, so my other alternative is Google Now. But GNow launcher CAN'T SEE the widget for some strange reason beyond me, so i can't add it to home screen. Now i would like to find an alternative to this service that works great and sips battery. Anyone got suggestions?
Maybe IFTTT?
Nice suggestion, but pretty much overkill for me, I don't automate the sending of messages or reminders, or if I want I do so from within my messaging or reminder app. The My Places was simple, elegant and effective for displaying appropriate 'most used' shortcuts in it's panel, based on location. I could go to Sams Club and have my Grocery List app, my messaging app and the Sams Club Scan & Go app apppear on my home screen and then go away after I left that location and be replaced with my "out and about" app and settings choices, then when I reached home - another group plus settings controls apply. So damned handy to have what I needed, where and when I needed it. Nice going to the theater and not having to bother with turning off a ringer etc. As I arrive at the location, it has already been done.
Any luck?
Curious if you've found a replacement yet?
