[Q] Any customizable lockscreen apps/mods? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I'm running the SkyICS rom with the ICS lockscreen and one thing I love is that there is the option to either unlock the phone or to directly open the camera app, which is handy because very often I'm getting my phone for the sole purpose of taking a picture. I was wondering, is there any way to customize or has anyone made a customized lockscreen that has other apps available on it? I'd like to have a lockscreen where depending on where/how you swiped you could go directly to camera or sms or the web browser or the general unlock. Does such an app/mod exist, or is there a way to do it manually?
Thanks
Edit: Apparently I forgot the original bit of advice before "Search is your friend" is "GOOGLE is your friend." Looks like WidgetLocker LockScreen may be a good option. Before I throw down $2.99, is that what I'm looking for? Also, can we confirm that it works well with ICS?

I use Widget Locker and, if you have a few tasks you do consistently and don't want to open up the phone to access everything, then it's very useful. It does work with ICS, but if you're just interested in being able to open the camera it's not worth the money. It's worth it if you want to access more features at once, like the dialer & e-mail & SMS & camera because it's very customize-able.

I use Widget Locker as well. Works great, very customizable (especially with all of the themes available here)
Well worth it if you want to truly make your lockscreen your own. I've combined it with Missed It so I can see texts/calls/emails at a glance.

Android 2.3!

hi friends. i know, i know this discussion is premature, but lets talk about what we want from android 2.3 ....to be a good source of inspiration for those who make it
God bless you to have the best inspiration!
Not a bad idea...
They should root it out of the box
Love. World peace.
since 2.2 had a 400-500% performance boost, 2.3 should have a 4000-5000% boostv
They've got the performance down. I think 2.3 will focus more on the user - ease of use and greater stability to compete with the iPhone. This will be shortly followed (3.0 maybe) with a whole new user interface design. They didn't hire the WebOS designer for nothing...
More than anything, I want the application's interface to look better and more unified. Like on an iOS, no matter how bad the app is, it still looks just as good as anything else. On Android, having a good looking UI is rare.
'Settings' in Froyo looks great, black background, white text, easy to navigate. But then you go to settings in Beautiful Widgets, and the text size is different, check boxes are on the left instead of right, and it's just not unified. They need a stricter standard.
I would love to see pinch-zoom on Email/gmail.
Maybe an option to display google voice SMS in the standard MMS app. A more customizable phone app, as in choosing which screen to default to and have a T9 search option... ( Like Dialer One)
Launcher Pro as standard launcher
Hold down volume to switch tracks on default music player

Yes, this is a big deal. froyo has most of the basics that people were begging for: voice dialing, apps2sd, latest opengl, etc but they really need to blow everyone away on the UI. The reason why there's so much fragmentation is because of all these custom UI's and the reason why we have those UI's is because there is a perception that Android needs them to look good.
But once you get past the first few screens and into actual apps, there's nothing to hide. There has to be a general system for UI controls for all the apps so that they can look good without much effort.
Also, in many OS's, even the controls are themable and if Google can do that, an OEM could have an Android that looks completely different all the way down but runs all the apps and they would operate the same way.
from what i've heard, there's no 2.3. Gingerbread is a major release.. Android 3.
Here a To-Do list for the android developers :
- add the possibility to hide some apps from the drawer
- add a theme manager to change theme and restore the original one more easily
- enable root automaticaly
- add a feature like "Android Guard" to lock and locate your phone with your google account
- add a backup manager, linked with your Google account which could backup all your apps and data (like Titanium Backup) to switch easily from a ROM to another or to change your android phone.
I've no more idea for the moment but here are some nice features

2.3 or 3, real flash support, that works well, not just "sort of works well"
Thread moved since it isn't development.
USB TV-Out
I would love the magnifying glass thing the iPhone has when selecting text.

The latest update to K-9 (which I prefer over the stock email app) has this. I was quite surprised when I saw it. Though, it does exclude GMail, but I think that's because GMail inaccessible to third-parties right now.
Android wishes
I would like a task manager that links to calender. Schedule the task to when I know when I want to do it, without writing it all out again. Please.
Unified graphics would be a good look.

[Q] Couple of hopefully easy questions.

Bare with me, I am used to rooted devices running CM. G1, MTS3G, G2, and now the MTS4G. So maybe some of these things are just sense issues or just normal...I don't know, but I don't like them.
Why doesn't the desktop picture move when sliding screens? I loved that feature because I leave my "center" screen free of icons, and I always know when I am at center because the pic is centered. With this, the pic is always centered and I never know which way to slide. Minor, but still a PIA.
In Contacts the only thing I have checked is Google Contacts, yet when I start to type a name to send a text, each conta7ct shows up 4 times. Again, minor but I don't like it.
Actually that's it. I guess I have to deal with some issues until we get Soff root, I'm just spoiled with CM7.
Also not liking the new style text messages, looks too "Iphone" if you ask me. I like the old standard thread design.
Dear lord someone needs to come out with a way to get s-off so I can run CM.
There's an app for that!
LauncherPro is a great launcher/home screen replacement that you can use without rooting the phone. It will give you more customization options for a better home screen experience without needing to root.
Handcent SMS is an excellent replacement for SMS/MMS messaging. I like it a lot better than the Sense version!

[Q] Utilizing a home screen as a messaging app?

What I am envisioning is using an actual home screen as a messaging app, for example I would just slide over to a fully featured messaging app without having to click on an icon. I have seen lots of widgets and the like that just sit on the "desktop" but most are rather limited in functionality. I dont want to just display messages in a widget. Ideally, just sliding over would seamlessly and literally slide right in to the native messaging app. Anybody know anything that would allow this? Or does something like this even exist? Im assuming this is probably going to be more than just an app, and something that would have to be built into the launcher itself. I have been browsing the android market for something, but maybe I am just not looking hard enough?
there are lots of SMS / IM / email widgets that you can put in your home screen
for you to directly type into it and send from it, without launching the actual app
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Ive found a couple that do everything in a widget, Pure Messaging Widget probably being the closest to what I am looking for. But there a lot of wasted realestate on the screen, just looking for something that uses the full screen like a regular standalone messaging app. I dont know, maybe Im just being picky and pedantic. Lol, if there are any other suggestions that you have that I may not have seen yet please do tell. Thanks for the quick response.
Have you tried LauncherPro yet? I believe it has a Messaging widget that's pretty good. It may not be the full screen appearance you are looking for but there are lot's of themes around to alter it to your taste.
Somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

[Q] Disable lockscreen camera swipe, "lock" lock screen widgets?

1) Is there a way to lock or freeze the lockscreen widgets / scrolling once set? *
2) Can I disable the side swiping/sliding to open the camera ONLY above the camera icon? In other words, I want to be able to access the lock screen camera but only by swiping from the bottom where the camera icon is, not anywhere above it.
*This is really difficult for me to search and find because "how to lock lock screen" and "how to freeze lock screen" obviously come up with something I am not looking for. I want to be able to enable widgets on my lock screen but disable the ability to add more once I set the one I want. I don't want to be able to scroll to the big plus, but I want a widget so I don't want to just disable the feature. How can I do this?

I already realized this is most likely more of a possibility on a custom ROM, however, not only do I really enjoy my stock setup ATM, I don't feel like changing for two features (I will though).
That being said, there are tons of ROMs with tons of features. Do you know of any ROMs that have exactly what I am requesting (while still keeping the simple practical sleek look of stock)? I don't have the time to flash ROMs all day searching so I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who knows this information could share it with me.
And I do mean exactly. I don't want to flash a custom ROM just to get half the ability I'm requesting. Please let me know, thank you.

[Q] I can't find a feature like this.

I've been spending a while now trying to see if this feature exists via maybe a rooted app or an xposed module but I may be looking in the wrong places so I decided to ask here.
I'm looking for a way to open apps in the lock scree. Just like how you can make calls, navigate, and take pictures in the lock screen, I want to be able to open apps the same way.
For example, I have the hangout widget, all it does is show you the text and when i click on it, I have to unlock my phone to use the app. Why can't it open and then immediately go to the lock screen. I maybe slightly vulnerable then but I personally chose that by having that widget there. Does a feature like this exist?
