Battery mod - General Questions and Answers

I have a pixel 3 with a fairly small battery capacity of about 2900mah, and I want to try adding a new battery with a larger capacity (8000mah) I want to know how to change the settings in the sys/class/power_supply/bms/charge_full, so that it can be increased from 2900mah to 8000mah so that when charging the 8000mah battery capacity can be fully charged. or will even if I don't change the chage_full setting the battery will still be fully charged?

[Q] Battery percentage display

I have my captivate running 2.3.3 mosaic III ROM the battery life is excellent with a little help from SETCPU but when it fully charges the phones says the battery is full but when i unplug it the battery percentage display says it is at 98% did a battery stats wipe. Just wondering do i need to calibrate my battery also to fix the tiny little problem. by the way i fail to mention running Purple-licious ginger style theme. This is the only issue I'm having
not every battery has the same capacity, 2 oem batteries either.
there is a 2% difference between your batteries.
if you calibrate to the lower battery, the other will show 100% when you put it in, though in comparrison it would actually be 102% ....
its not worth worrying about.
i have 4 batteries i play with... 2 oem and 2 extended... now that confuses the phone!
this is a normal behavior by samsung.
Fully discharging and recharging your battery over the course of a few days should calibrate it to your liking, however Samsung does have a little feature to prevent damage to the battery by overcharging. This is normal and should be of no worry to you as long as you are getting decent battery life.
You can also try charging to full, removing cable and shutting down phone, then charging while off until the battery says 100%. Repeat three times and wipe battery stats.
Hope this helps.

Battery voltage ????

Hi there guys, im trying to calibrate my battery (Stock 1530) using battery calibrator. I have two questions.
1- is it better to discharge my battery then use Battery calibrator to calibrate it or turn off phone and charge over night and power on> recovery and remove Battery stats bin?
2- why my battery at times says 4215 and at times 4209 when its full? can someone describe the right battery volts value to me, thx!
1. i dont use battery calibrator, but charging overnight and wiping battery stats is the way to go.
2. there's no such thing as a "right" voltage. li-ion batteries never charge to their full design capacity. what you should look out for is the current. your battery is full when the current decreases until it settles on a low value. the charging will then stop and you'll notice the current goes to negative.

Battery Info

lithium ion batteries each have a unique id right...is there anywhere to see it in the os? How does the phone decide what the state of charge is? I am looking at an extended battery that says you should leave it on charge 1 to 2 hours after charge light goes green (95%). Where does the light get the info from? Can the charge profile be altered?
Yes, look on the market.
Once I ran accross one, but I find it useless for myself.

Click to collapse
I don't think you can view any battery id on your android and i doubt most batteries have such an interface, most are just labeled backs in a plastic enclosure.
If you swapped for an extended battery i would recommend resetings your battery stats (google for how), or else the charge level may be inaccurate.
The information when to stop charging comes from the voltage.
Some unselfish advertisement, my new app can show you the battery voltage.
No the charge profile can usually not be altered except using a stronger charger to increase speed, but batteries love to be charged slowly... increases lifespan.
So there is no electronic id? I was under the impression that lithium ion batteries used a smart charger and id to track battery data...most computer batteries I have seen each had a unique id so it could track individual battery statistics. Will an extended battery not charge to full when being charged in the phone?

Technical Details
Fits in existing space so no replacement door is needed
Made from the highest quality Japanese cells
Capacity: 1750mAh
To obtain the full capacity of your battery, leave the battery/your phone on the charger for an additional 2-3 hours after the charging indicator turns green or the battery status shows full.
Why is that?
Ya most laptop batteries have such an ID, but i have not seen a phone with one.
I'm not sure why it says to do that.
Did you check out my app?
You set it to you show you the battery voltage, charge till the indicator is green, then note the battery voltage, leave it on charger for 2-3 hours, note the battery voltage again.
If it went higher it really charged more, if not, it was unnecessary.

Battery charge capacity

IS it possbile to pull battery capacity data, like in iPhone battery capacity check?

Question My Poco X3 PRO loses its battery life after 5 charges

Hello everyone, I would like to ask for your kind help with this problem.
My Poco X3 PRO has a problem with its battery, when I see with No Gravity Kernel the battery data, when I flash the fastboot ROM it indicates 100% capacity and its battery has a long duration but after charging the device 5 times its Low capacity between 93% to 90%, specifically 4793 Mah, this reduces my battery life and it would be great if you help me to calibrate the battery and not end up causing the same error, best regards
No kernel can help with that. They just have different ways of displaying battery capacity.
Lost capacity on a battery is lost capacity, since the battery degrades a bit from regular use and charging. And using fast charging degrades the battery faster than regular 10 Watt charging.
Don't be too fooled with battery, use your phone same as normal ones.
