I don't know if it is the same problem as I have had in the past, But
Not all sim card have your phone number saved to them.
What I had to do was put my sim card into my daughter's iPhone and save my phone number back to my own sim card, and then my own phone could see my number.
Google search should tell you how to do that. Good Luck. It's well past time that android should have added that!

What?
Settings/About phone/Phone number (sim slot 1)
Settings/About phone/Phone number (sim slot 2)
If it doesn't show, reboot your phone.

I tried. It is not happening

You could ask a local mobile phone shop just to check your number is saved to your sim card. I think most would help.

Call your provider and work it through with them. They'll need the IMEI from the phone or the box you got it in. They need to register that IMEI with your phone number. It happened to me with my eSim and finally they figured it out but it took the second tier support guy.

I called operator. They say its activated properly from their side. I replaced sim. Still the pixel 6a is showing my sim as unknown although all services like call in/out, sms in/out and internet is working fine. Even the person whom I am ringing is getting my number correctly. Its just the phone and its strange why it is showing other sim number when inserted but not this number

If you are trying to get what I think you want, go into the Phone settings (Start->Settings->Phone) and at the top should be your SIMs number.
Thx for answer
But I dont see the number... same with my SFR Official Sim...
In wich tab do you see it ?
I can have the contacts, not the phone number grrrrr
The phone have been found in a jail, we are trying to identify the owner without calling the police...

Should be in the "Phone" tab...
One thought... Try plugging the SIM card into a different device and see if that gives you any more info.
It's quite possible the SIM doesn't have the number accessible, i know some of the SIMs i have seen don't actually have the number programmed in so that it can be retrieved by software.
I assume actually using the SIM in another handset to ring your own mobile to get the number isn't possible?
This is my phone tab

If the phone/SIM has been locked, you won't be able to get the number off it. You'll need to contact the operator...

The phone seems to work completely. It's strange. I thought in case of theft it was lock too with IMEI.
deedee> "MiCard SIM" doesnt give the call number maybe because it's not on the sim...
My investigation will stop there so
It's super you understand my english
Thx for help

Glad to have ben able to offer help, even if i couldn't solve it.
i have the same issue at work, the corporate SIMs dont have the phone number coded in so the company BlackBerries don't report it back to the server, but when i put a cheap PAYG SIM in i get the number reported back.
Go figure what the networks are playing at.

[Q] A Simcard Slot Problem?????

Sorry for my poor English first.
I am currently in New Zealand. I bought a Galaxy S4 from an online retailer two weeks ago. The phone was actually shipped from a provider in Hong Kong.
The first thing I did after I received the phone was checking the IMEI number. The IMEI number on the case was consistent with that on white label in battery cell. However, when I tapped *#06# it showed a strange IMEI which was 004999010640000. The phone kept showing "NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK“ though it could find the network.
I've tried simcard of different companies.
I've tried to select network manually in both wcdma and gsm network.
NONE of these works.
To me it seems like a bug caused by damaged EFS file, but I DIDN'T FALSH ANY ROM OR FIRMWARE ON THIS NEW PHONE.
Then I returned my phone to the retailer. At first, they admitted their fault and promised to have me a brand new replacement. Then, they started to question me about if I had break the interior needle of SIM card slot which I had no idea what that was. The explanation they gave, which sounds none-sense to me, was because SIMCARD in AUS/NZ is thicker, that interior needle of SIM card slot was damage somehow by improper operation. In another words, I have to pay to fix this brand new phone.
My question is, how would such a simcard slot problem, if there is one, change the IMEI showing on my phone?
Bro your not supposed to show your ime no. To anyone

The 004999 number is the fake one displayed on my phone. Thanks for noticing anyway

Yes, it will not change your IMEI, the reason you are not getting network, is because its a fake imei, read this and threaten to sue them by giving you a defective unit and further trying to con you that its due to a broken SIM pin. Better make a police report if they fail to change it.

Phone number unknown

In settings - about phone - status - my phone number it says unknown. On my old Xperia Z my phone number was listed there. Z3 works completely normal. Phone calls, SMS, data... No problem. Do you have your phone number listed in status or have some of you also encountered the same issue? I don't know if it is a problem or not. One guy who has the same problem and is on the same carrier got new nano sim card but problem was not solved. Then carrier reset his card without success, phone number is still not listed. Is that a real problem or should I just ignore it?

My number is listed there, and I'm guessing it's no big deal if it isn't. But I might be wrong though, never thought much about it. Please correct me if I am ?
I dont see it as being an issue what so ever but as for why it is not showing there. . . . . . . . . .I have no idea! Mine says unknown too
I think it's the new TMobile SIMs. No big issue, newer SIMs just aren't storing the phone number on them.
No number shown on o2 in the UK, maybe a broader issue.

Using a newer SIM Card? I can check my wife's when she gets home (she's still using her BB Curve 8330 Sim Card) but I switched to a new SIM card.
My T-Mobile number shows, however its not an issue if it doesn't, your phone will work fine on your network.
It is only reading a field called the MSISDN on the SIM which is not really used for anything useful. It varies from carrier to carrier as to whether they populate this field.

Mine is being shown; EE in the UK.
works for me too! I'm on 3 UK
Dom, can you open contacts app and look for a contact called 'Myself'? Its automatically generated by the phone.
It also should have your mobile number in it.
If it doesn't then its either SIM/Provider issue. Try replacing the SIM with a new one.

No service with valid sim card

Hi everyone,
I'm having a very bad issue with my Nexus 5.
Last week, my mobile network stopped working, always displaying "No service".
The sim card was still recognized, since I had to enter my pin code after each reboot.
So I tried to put my sim card in a friend's phone, and it worked perfectly on his.
Next, I called Google tech support to get some information and they simply sent me another Nexus 5 to solve the issue.
The thing is, I'm having the same issue with the new phone, but it's even worse.
The sim card is not recognized at first when I reboot the phone.
After I put it out and in once, it asks me for my pin code. And then, I get the "No service" again.
If I try to make a call it says : "Turn off airplane mode to make a call" (see attached screenshot). I tried to turn it on and off, nothing works.
I must precise that the network worked as a charm with the new phone for 3 days and then nothing.
I tried several sim cards from different service providers, and I get the exact same issue every time. and boot in safe mode but i get the no service again

Here is my configuration :
Android 6.0.1
Security patch level : 1 january. 2016
Baseband version : M8974A-2.0.50.2.28
Build number number : MMB29S
Is anyone having this issue ?
Thanks.
There is a known problem with the N5 where a totally dead battery can kill the radio component. No, it makes no sense to me either, but after it happened to me I did a lot of reading across many forums and discovered I wasn't alone. Flashing half a dozen different ROMs made no difference. Eventually I contacted Google and, as with you, they replaced my N5 with a refurbished model which has worked perfectly ever since.
All I can suggest is that you report the second phone to Google and hope that they will replace it again.

Question Sim and eSim

Hi
I have two questions concerning sim cards
1. In the sim selection window, with which the call will occur. Is it possible eSim make the first on this list? Now a physical sim card is the first (
2. Is it possible to somehow set the phone number for eSim? ... Just for a physical card, a number is present, but for esim no (
A1 physical sim
MTS eSim

Its in settings, If you are trying to make it the default sim. Also I had to get my carrier to set up my esim. They had to set the phone number and send me a code,QR code or manual input to get mineworking. (T-Mobile)
Both suggestions by @Loustsoul are valid and correct. You will need to get a scan code after you give the tech support person the IMEI of the eSim (it's on the box). They might ask for the ICCID also/instead. So Settings - Network and Internet-Calls & SMS - Calls and select your option, i.e. default or ask every time. However, if you are asking whether or not the eSim can show above the physical sim when "ask every time" is selected, the answer is no. At least I haven't been able to figure out a way.
@Loustsoul @bobby janow
Sorry for bad English, I must have explained badly
I already have an eSim in my phone, I just want to add a number to it (for display!). This feature is available for a physical SIM card.
Settings - Network and Interent - SIMs - Choose eSim - pen (right top corner)
And field - Phone number on sim
I can't change it =(((

Yes, that's right, that was the question.
Too bad =(
I noticed one thing in the system menu *#*#4636#*#*
A regular SIM card has UICC, eSim is missing
What is it and how can I install it on eSim?
Maybe this affects the display of the number
