Phone number unknown

In settings - about phone - status - my phone number it says unknown. On my old Xperia Z my phone number was listed there. Z3 works completely normal. Phone calls, SMS, data... No problem. Do you have your phone number listed in status or have some of you also encountered the same issue? I don't know if it is a problem or not. One guy who has the same problem and is on the same carrier got new nano sim card but problem was not solved. Then carrier reset his card without success, phone number is still not listed. Is that a real problem or should I just ignore it?

My number is listed there, and I'm guessing it's no big deal if it isn't. But I might be wrong though, never thought much about it. Please correct me if I am ?

I dont see it as being an issue what so ever but as for why it is not showing there. . . . . . . . . .I have no idea! Mine says unknown too

I think it's the new TMobile SIMs. No big issue, newer SIMs just aren't storing the phone number on them.

No number shown on o2 in the UK, maybe a broader issue.

Using a newer SIM Card? I can check my wife's when she gets home (she's still using her BB Curve 8330 Sim Card) but I switched to a new SIM card.

My T-Mobile number shows, however its not an issue if it doesn't, your phone will work fine on your network.

It is only reading a field called the MSISDN on the SIM which is not really used for anything useful. It varies from carrier to carrier as to whether they populate this field.

Dom, can you open contacts app and look for a contact called 'Myself'? Its automatically generated by the phone.
It also should have your mobile number in it.
If it doesn't then its either SIM/Provider issue. Try replacing the SIM with a new one.

Most phones in Samsung's Galaxy line come with a so-called "region lock". In this case, it means the phone can only be used with a SIM card from the ME-region. However, these region locks are not permanent. If the phone has already been used with an ME SIM at some point, and has had at least one phone conversation for a duration longer than 5 minutes, the lock is automatically removed (it is mainly there as a measure to prevent grey-imports). I am actually even more perplexed now. By ME you mean Middle-East?
Phone was never used before according to seller. Claims he's the one who opened the box.
So basically the conclusion is that I should avoid this device? This phone cannot be activated in US? Can only be activated in the Middle East then? What constitutes ME though? I travel all the time so I actually might pull this off. Is there like a list of countries?

Yes, unfortunately, if the phone has never been used before, you would actually need to insert a SIM from an ME (Middle-East) carrier and make a call to "unlock" it. If not, the phone will simply reject your SIM. From what I've read, this is supposedly to stop "foreign resellers", though many of these can now unlock the phone on request before shipping =/

Sadly, it seems to be embedded into the SoC firmware, so there's no trivial workaround for it as I know of.

Hm, can't seem to find a formal list on Samsung's site, but I would guess all countries listed under ME (http://www.samsung.com/countries), plus those under "Africa" redirecting to Samsung NA/EG (Morocco, Tunisia, Algiers, Libya & Egypt), as the phone should accept SIM cards from NA carriers as well.

There's always a chance you could get an ME SIM somewhere online though. That said, there's no guarantee it will actually activate the phone when not connected to the carrier's own network. Might indeed be best to skip this deal, just to be on the safe side

Hi so I have a problem I work at big phone repair shop and assembled my own phone from scrap parts galaxy note 8 , but the problem is that the phones imei is in the company system and i can't be seen with this imei number because they do random imei checks. And no I don't want to change my imei completely I just want an app or something that just shows my imei with couple different numbers for that moment. Screenshot will not work. My phone is not rooted that may be a problem

This would mean using an IMEI that you are not allowed to use, that isn't allowed at XDA and it's probably illegal for you to do it in the first place. Go somewhere else other than XDA if you want to break rules and laws.
Be glad that I don't know who you are or who you work for, if I knew who you were and who you worked for, I'd turn you in myself.

Phone is made from scrap that nobody gets only recycle bins. I don't want it to completely change imei I only want fake screen or something.

Because, regardless of how you go about it, you'll be using an IMEI that you aren't approved to use. You said yourself "I can't be seen with this IMEI" and "they do random checks". It doesn't matter how you try to justify it, you're in the wrong.
Besides, I'm not mad, I just don't like it when people do underhanded things to serve their own personal interests.

Question Is the a workable solution to phone number shown Unknown in Pixel Phone

The Google Pixel 6a will refuse to show my number no matter how much I try with different ways. The service provider says its Pixels setting problem and not theirs. Any workabout to it ??? Thanks in Advance

I don't know if it is the same problem as I have had in the past, But
Not all sim card have your phone number saved to them.
What I had to do was put my sim card into my daughter's iPhone and save my phone number back to my own sim card, and then my own phone could see my number.
Google search should tell you how to do that. Good Luck. It's well past time that android should have added that!

If it doesn't show, reboot your phone.

I tried. It is not happening

You could ask a local mobile phone shop just to check your number is saved to your sim card. I think most would help.

Call your provider and work it through with them. They'll need the IMEI from the phone or the box you got it in. They need to register that IMEI with your phone number. It happened to me with my eSim and finally they figured it out but it took the second tier support guy.

I called operator. They say its activated properly from their side. I replaced sim. Still the pixel 6a is showing my sim as unknown although all services like call in/out, sms in/out and internet is working fine. Even the person whom I am ringing is getting my number correctly. Its just the phone and its strange why it is showing other sim number when inserted but not this number

Question Corrupted firmware software

Purchased a sm-s908u 1tb model from Facebook marketplace earlier and on getting it home noticed it was very sluggish
Factory reset and hardware reset and noticed that non of the Samsung one ui settings were available in settings.
Then realised that there was no one ui elements at all! Seems to be badly running a vanilla android!
What are my options?
My first thought was to download firmware from samknows and hope that it fixes this very odd issue!
The phones still under warranty so I could always go down that route.

Scammer know how to do that. It’s all stolen, or faked. You have been scammed. Unless you can return it, your money is gone. if you try to use the warrant, you will be told the same thing.
another way I know it’s fake is a lot of these screens are clearly fake, not something Samsung would create, very ugly too. Look at the updator. Obviously fake. The toast in the second update picture has a grammer mistake too. And so does everyhtig in the updator. Read it again. And Google the real Samsung update screen. And real Samsung start up screen.

Can you get into recovery? What does it look like? If it really is legitimate, you might be able to load an official firmware, but who knows. What provider are you using? Are you using an e-sim? Says you are using slot 2.
The screen on a real S22U will be edge to edge, so I am afraid the others may be right.
