My next phone will defo be one of those, though solid details on both are scarce if existent at all.....
I really hope the 3gb ram rumours are true.
If there is finally no lag on touch wiz with note 3 I'll go there if not then nexus 5 steals my cash.
Right now feeling the pinch of UK s3 limit of 1gb ram, but still loving my first taste of android even a year later, my second phone the iPhone 4s only gets a look in when I need a separate business phone or this battery is low.
Originally intended to get a windows 8 lumia but they hadn't been released and ICS/jelly bean had ensured that I haven't regretted it
Which of the two do you anticipate more and why?

Note 3 for sure. Note 2 is my favorite phone ever, it's only right that I get it's successor.

Actually, most of the Note 3's specs were leaked today: http://www.sammobile.com/2013/06/09...ra-ii-and-galaxy-s4-lte-advanced-coming-soon/
Note 3, without question.
Wow crazy... If it gets 3gb ram too that thing is taking over my life! Wedding is off, she can find a new man, just leave me to my note 3, take the iPad if you want...

I have the original Galaxy Note and have loved it (came from a Galaxy SII). I've been wanting to get the Note 2 for the past few months and not sure I'll be able to hold out since I'm getting antsy for a new phone. If i can somehow suppress my impulse to buy the Note 2, I will be anxiously awaiting the release of the Note 3...after all, we're only talking a matter of 4 months or so..right? :fingers-crossed:

Apart from the slightly bigger screen there is not a great deal more to get excited about the Note 3. 13 MP? Irrelevant. Worst : it is actually detrimental to imagine quality in such tiny sensors. FHD? What for? Now, if they improve the sunlight legibility of the screen which is IMO one of the drawbacks of the current screen, that might make me think twice.
I also have my eyes on the upcoming Xperia Z Ultra. Looks like a real contender to the Note 3 although I'm afraid it is just too big.

FHD Why? Well, because some of us DO see the difference. I don't want anything below 1080 ever again.
Oh, I don't know. The 3GB RAM maybe? Or maybe the fact it's either going to be a Snapdragon 800 or an Exynos Octa?
The camera I don't give a sh*t about. I carry my DSLR everywhere anyway.
With higher density displays you do see a better quality even if you can't see any more individual pixels - the more pixels making up the smallest visible "particle" the more detail and colour clarity you will experience, it's like cd vs a brand new vinyl, the vinyl records lots of frequencies that the human ear can't pick up while the CD is limit to the human spectrum, yet vinyls on a good system that have not worn out the tracts yet have a much warmer palette of sounds, the insensible waves have an effect on the sensible and the same happens with screens, if you play a 4k video on a 1000ppi screen theoretically you'd see a far better image than on a 1020 440 ppi which is visibly better than on a 720 on a 326ppi which is considered roughly retina. Don't let apple brainwash you into thinking that retina is the best you can get, it's clear yes, but it can look nicer than our already amazing top end screens do.
Usually the difference isn't noticeable instantly, but when you try to go back to the lower quality you notice the difference, try looking at an old android device from 2010 or an iPhone 3gs... Blurry as hell but at the time I couldn't imagine a better screen.

I've got my hands on one now. Its a SK telecom model in white from Korea. F350S is the model. Its speed is like the note 3 UI is maybe a little faster, its larger next to my note 3 but the handling of the phone is not too bad. Nice matte textured back. Its about .5cm taller same width more or less.
The camera blows the Note 3's camera away. To be honest thats not hard as the note 3 camera is not very good. Not in anything but sunlight. The camera in the g pro 2 is very fast and fast to lock. OIS+ seems just like the OIS of the G2 maybe a tad better hard to say as I don't have my G2 anymore to compare. Its overall a great camera bu I think some photos are over sharpened. If we can just mod the camera like with the G2 it will be perfect.
I will do a video of the 4k vs note 3's 4k video.

Thumbs up to LGs latest innovation. Better camera, faster load time and perfect fit to those who have bigger hands. I met my matched phone on this device.
owned a note 3 before and sold it before i get the g pro 2, overall, i feel it's similar, the most important thing to me is battery and the G Pro 2 beats the note 3 by a bit for me, some review claims the note 3 has better battery which is not the case for me

also the knock-code and double tap to lock on stock is a plus!
Samsung and their knox makes some people think twice before rooting their phone..
if you are not into sytlus then lg g pro 2 is so much better than Note 3. It has fantastic camera and video with OIS. Build quality is great, no screen gaps near the bezel for dust to accumulate like the Note 3, no wobbly home button which is a perennial problem with samsung phones. The size is just a little bigger than Note 3 but cleanner with no volume buttons or power button at the sides. The back is a bit slippery compared to Note 3 but is really finger-print FREE, and the battery is really great
I have both (and a HTC One Max and a Sony Z Ultra). In terms of built quality, GP2 is definitely better than the N3 (indeed, OneMax > ZUltra > GP2 > N3). Only strength for N3 is the stylus with air gesture, etc. Other than that, it is at the bottom of my favorite list.

Which one is your favorite?
I'm deciding between One Max & GP2
also how's the gps on GP2 compared to others? is it as bad as LG G2 and needs a hardware hack?
Can't comment on G2 as I don't have one. The GPS of both One Max and GP2 are very competent, no lack and lock fast.
The build quality of One Max is way better than GP2 but is slightly bigger, thicker and heavier. The sound is much better too. GP2 is more "pocketable" so they are a tie to me.

i currently own a note 9. yes its power house with features but i hardly use the s-pen. i dont care for it.
its got expandable storage but 128 built in is fine for me and i could care less for expandable. 128 suffice for me.
i am VERY attracted to the full no bezel screen and the slider for the camera is a WOW for me. i love it.
my own only beef at the moment is WHY the battery is 3200mah?
the note 9 has 4000. thats the only thing pissing me off. a con for the mix 3 and a pro for the note 9.
and no i dont want the mi 9 (i dont want notches) so please dont recommend it.
at the current shop its going for $459. which means if i sell my note 9 for lets say $425 i only pay a difference of $34 dollars.
i am a fan of miui interface and its tweaks ...
however, since the battery is minuscule at 3200 you'd think xioami would add dark mode since it has an amoled screen thereby help conserving battery ... yet from what i am reading all over the web the feature is still missing. or is available only on the global beta. and another option would be to use dark themes which may cause issues on some apps.
i also noticed there are pixel aosp based roms with "Smart pixels" feature. is that the same as dark mode? and will installing such rom lose the sliding functionality?
i am not a gamer. i use basic apps. rarely facebook. whatsapp, telegram and the usual chrome and youtube-vanced (which can be themed to dark mode).
i am not gonna ask about rooting and magisk cause i know its doable.
please help me. will the battery disappoint me?
on a side note, i noticed the usb type c in mix 3 is type 2 not 3 while the note 9 is 3.1
also, the addition of the free wireless charger out of the box is very nice. but does it do fast charging?
if the battery that trouble you, watch this video

so the first video, battery life, the mix 3 died at 5 hours and 19 minutes. note 9 5 hours and 46 minutes. 27 minutes difference. not a big deal to be honest.
the note 9 and the mix 3 share the same processor, sd 845. yes, samsung has lots of bloatware crap and it may drain faster than the mix 3.
still though, i want to enable dark mode as i have gotten accustomed to it on the note 9 of using it.
furthermore, i have my note 9 set to the lowest resolution at hd+ (1480 x 720). not sure what the default is on the mix 3. (set to dark mode always on)
i plan on rooting and using titanium backup to freeze apps so i will tinker to my hearts desire to save battery!
Anyways, price wise,
i found the phone even cheaper at $445 (mix 3) as opposed to the shop at the mall of $459 which says he gives a year warranty. i dont give a damn about warranties cause i am always in the mood to switch phones. funny thing is its the same company with a branch shop at the mall. i guess they charge more cause of the mall.
i dont know. i may take the bullet and go for it.
the latest offer i got for my note 9 is $425 dollars. so i'd be adding only $20 dollars to purchase the mix 3.
would you do it?

There's not much I like in the note 9 that the mix 3 doesn't already have expect for the battery.
I hate the s pen.
I hate the bezelz on the note 9 and they are not small.
I gave the guy who wants my note 9 a final price of 440$. If he accepts ill go for it.
If not, I'll stick to my note 9.
What I do like about the mix 3 is the slider. It's an absurd reason to do the trade. ? Plus as I said it shares all the same hardware expect for the battery.
Furthermore, I tend to like miui more Samsungs one ui crap interface.
On a side note I also considered the honor magic 2 but it lacks wireless charging so that's out of the question.

I suppose the 83.4 and 85 on paper might not seem big but in the hand and visually it looks better (the mix 3)
IP rating of water resistance you mean?
I don't go diving in swimming pools all day ?
Better components such as what? The build quality on both is on par. I literally compared them both at the store.... Not an issue.
UI that works? I stated I hated one ui which is samsungs ui and prefer miui.
Anywho. I think I am closing the question as I am not in the mood to do the switch and lose $25 for one. Then I have to install a beta version of miui just to get the dark mode feature.
And, my whole attraction to the sliding gimmick I gave to get over. I hardly take selfies so how is the slider benefiting me?
I just saw the phones next to each other and the mix 3 looked so much nicer. That's really it.

IP isn't just for water...
Build quality goes beyond looks. The wobble on the mix 3 is an example. Slider will get scratched
No point downgrading for a slider you'll hardly ever use
You don't need to install the beta as the theme store has identical themes to what the dark mode would do, pretty pointless feature to introduce in the system
Miui breaks notifications etc
Mix price is cheap for a reason

What do you mean by the slider will get scratched? The phone comes with a back cover.... Isn't that enough to somewhat protect it?
I don't consider it a downgrade unless you're talking battery capacity. As far as cpu, gpu, ram, internal storage... These are the same. As well as the screen which is also amoled.
Dark mode has made a huge battery difference in my note 9.as you may know amoled screens don't need to spend power to make the pixel white or any other color. If its black then the pixel is turned off thus conserving power. I don't know about the themes cause some use dark grey or near black and not true black. The whole dark mode feature is a true turn off the pixel.
Also, what do you mean by miui breaks notifications? I had a pocophone before and didn't have this issue.

You'll get grit and dirt between the screen and the back and over time when you slide you'll get scratches, potentially on the front cameras.
Screen might be amoled but it's not super amoled like the note 9 which is superior.
Have a look at the threads here where people moan about miui notifications.
If you're going to upgrade just to shave 1 or 2mm off the bezel then in my opinion it's a waste. I'll be going back to bezels with next phone later this month.
If you like the phone, just buy it and enjoy it. It's a good phone.

I am in the middle east and its either 4g or 3.9g. That's not important for me. It's the bigger battery and other improvements
There aren't any improvements. The bigger battery is required to support the beta hardware, with a separate modem and antennas. You also indicated that price was very important to you. You also mentioned you're not a gamer, so I'm curious what you're going to do with all that extra CPU & GPU horsepower. I've yet to find anything, including games, that the 4G version can't handle perfectly already.

Hmm. I suppose you're right. So is my note 9 with 4000mah battery overkill?
You're making a good argument here. But then comes an important question: what's better at better battery management.... Miui or Samsungs one ui?
In regards to the price sure it's important. Xiaomi can get away with cheaper price and they don't include a few necessities like headphones or a otg adaptor which comes in the box with the note 9. These two accessories are important.
Does the Note 9 come with a 20W wireless charger? And are you telling me you don't already have headphones that will work with the Mix? I think the OTG adapter I bought some time ago was about $5. Also, define "better" when it comes to battery management. MIUI is about the best I've seen for battery management in terms of battery life, but not the best for killing background processes (which is how battery life is extended). The PE rom does a better job of battery management for me, battery life is about the same, but it's not as zealous when it comes to killing background processes. Unless I'm running secure DNS, the battery on my phone doesn't get below 50% by the end of the day.
Put all specs bs aside, buttom line:
Less screen .
Les battery.
Optic zoom *2 only....
No headphone jack.
No dedicated second stereo speaker (earpiece).
Price-LOL...
Your opinion?
Having just purchased the Mate 20 X 5G I can honestly say it's a stunning device, and that I really do love the 7.2" Display.
As you will be aware the 5G variant doesn't have a headphone jack (this doesn't concern me as all my headphones are Bluetooth).
I have also Pre-ordered the Note 10+ 5G I don't think it's inferior, intact it's the only device that incorporates the pen and it's actually a fully functional tool (yes we have the M-Pen) but it's not quite the same.
I never dismiss a product but I do agree that for the Note line it ought to have been better and for me personally that would have just taken two things (on top of what was announced) those are a 90hz Display & 5000mah battery. This didn't happen and was a disappointment to which I think Samsung will regret.
However as I don't own a Samsung currently to have both the Mate 20 X 5G & The note 10+ 5G I'm in a very happy position. Two powerhouses that perform very differently but each has their own strengths and weaknesses.
I own a EVR-L29 (Mate 20 regular version)
I was an avid user of the Note line (as shown in my signature), and i always had issues with battery life not lasting long enough. I use it a lot during my daily commute & work (Spotify, 3D Gaming, Google Maps, BT headphones & Smartwatch, Note-Taking, Youtube & a lot of photo/video taking). I always had to charge intermittently whenever i could.
After switching to the Mate 20 X, I never had to charge at any point throughout the day/carry a power bank. It just lasted me until night despite my power use. The big screen was a joy to look at and game with.
The only thing i missed from the Note was the S-Pen. Sure the Mate 20 X has the Mpen but it feels hard & slippery and counterintuitive to use. I also wish the Note 10+ had a bigger battery but understand the space constraints when factoring the space needed for the SPen.
Having said that, like @Duncan1982 I have pre-ordered the Note 10+ (non-5G) and will use both devices. Lets see how the new Note fares.
Wouldn't trade mine M20X(4G) for any sammy device.
5000mah 7.2 inch amazing cameras and performance and awesome speakers
Wait for mate30.
Do any of you have issues with the mate 20x fitting in your pockets?

There's a rumor that the Mate 30 X variant may not come out. Have to wait and see.

I noticed the slight bulge in my regular front pocket initially, but after awhile it felt normal
I'm interested in what the screen size difference is side by side. 6.8 vs 7.2, but the note plus has a larger screen to body ratio. Has anyone held both yet? One in each hand. Interested in how big of a difference the screen size actually is.
Let's face it, the note 10 For day to day usage it will never be as good as mate 20 x in the area that matters the most, BATTERY LIFE. Galaxy Note series always had it's own magic that called the Spen but to be honest, better camera and longer battery life is all that matters these days since even the 300$ phones have the speed and good displays nowadays
The longer I have this phone, the more valuable it is to me. You see the new phones coming out, with mediocre upgrades and a hefty price tag.
Note 10 Plus is a great phone, no denying that but in the UK it will cost £1000 for the 4g version. In the UK you can buy the Mate 20X and get a Huawei Watch GT for £499.
Stellat battery life, fantastic screen, the Dolby Atmos stereo audio is amazing, HDR display... And fantastic camera for me just keeps me with the Mate 20 X. If course you have the Pen with the Note 10 Plus which is no gimmick.
Also I prefer a flat screen, the curved screen doesn't do it for me... Horses for courses
I answered my own question today, I held the 10 plus and my mate 20x. I was surprised how small the note plus felt at 6.8 compared to 7.2. I had pre-ordered one just in case, but I think I'm going to cancel it. The screen is lovely no question. But I don't want to go backwards in size. I hope a Mate 30x is in the future and the rumors aren't true that they're going to kill the line.

Yup that's what I saw in person when I compared them. Really no comparison screen wise, now to see if we get lucky and a Mate30x is in our future, I'd love to have wireless charging.
Tested the N10 today in the store, the plus version.
It's SMALL compared to the 20 X, awesome screen, ok speakers but the rest is same as s10.
M20 X FTW
I'm very tempted by the 20 X since it's day one (finally a phablet close to my old Xperia Z Ultra), however I'm not sure whether EMUI would be to my liking. It seems that the MPen isn't really as useful as an S-PEN... Additionally Samsung DeX and Linux on Dex are really good. I guess Easy projection is close to DeX, albeit less polished. But there's nothing like Linux on Dex on Huawei's side.
Still can't decide (of course there is the 500 euro price difference).

EMUI 10 inspire by OneUI, I think. It optimized for one hand operation plus M20X battery life is the beast so likely I want to keep M20X over jump Note10+. For me Note10+ advantages are smaller footprint ( still big screen ) and SPen. Cons: M20X much better in term off P/P.

There is no Mate 30x coming due to Mate x (folding phone) and Mate 20x 5g.
Note 10+ is easier to see in sunlight compared to Mate 20x.
Note 10+ has better camera quality (not by much however)
Mate 20x is louder and clearer sound.
Note 10+ pen is simply far superior & incredible.
I still own a Mate 20 x. No intentions of leaving. It is my daily.
My problem with Samsung is that they use punch holes and curved screens. I really don't like/want that.

i feel your pain lol, am an architect and i hate those very useless curved displays , i have no idea why they do it. the size of that mate 20x is just what the note line should be , i dont know of the screen quality currently on the mate 20x but 2k would be much better for sure and add an spen to it and thats the most perfect phone, and tbh even without the spen i think its the most perfect phone size wise, speakers wise etc
Vivo X Fold 2 rumored to be the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 foldable
Vivo's next foldable is believed to feature a bigger battery as well
www.phonearena.com
Exciting as this is I am kinda used to rooting this thing and keeping root. I doubt the next version is rootable (heck they closed the root exploit quickly with this version).
I love the vivo x fold and it's easily the best foldable ive ever owned. So I'm curious to see what vivo had up their sleeve

Has there been an official root guide for this phone? I have looked but cant find anything.
It's been showcased.
Here's the link: https://www.gsmarena.com/vivo_x_fold2_revealed_in_red_with_three_zeiss_cameras-news-58067.php
Coming this April.
Look like it will be the same size screen for both in and out,I hope the under fingerprints censor will be like on the X80pro/X90pro and the battery 5000mah at least, better software and global release
More official photos.

So I have some thoughts on the vivo x fold 2
PROS
It's thinner and lighter (not that I thought the vivo x fold was a heavy or brick device) so for those with smaller frames that's a good thing
Back design has changed and red looks great to me
Software implemented android dock (that automatically tells me there's some synergy between aosp and vivo - i hope it comes to the first gen fold)
Snapdragon 8 gen 2 device and top of the line...everything. Not to say the vivo x fold was a slouch or anything as I really enjoyed my time with it
New flex mode features (yay)
CONS
No more periscope zoom. I use that so much it made me really appreciate the camera. And on OriginOS3 the photos look better than my iphone 14 pro
Same dimensions
Slightly larger battery (which I will say the battery life is good but not great on the vivo x fold)
Obviously no BLU capability
The loss of periscope almost gives me a pause for the vivo x fold 2 because it was such a clutch feature on foldables. In my mind, the huawei mate x 3 is better for those who prioritize camera over everything else. Caveat with the huawei is the android version is old, still no BLU, and no google. But it really impressed me.
I will get the vivo x fold 2 because I loved the software experience. But I would still like to keep my BLU. I guess unlike last year this year will be tricky as more OEMs are entering the foldable space at different price points. What is the advantage of the vivo compared to say the Xiaomi fold or even the Mate X3?
I hope when it is announced and hits giztop, I fall in love with the device. But I guess it could be worse.
It could be the Samsung Fold 5 which is looking to be disappointing again
Hardware specs revealed

I'm a little disappointed with the camera specs...so I think I'll skip this gen of Vivo Fold
I'm still happy with gen 1..but waiting for better O.S. updates
Official launch date is April 20.

As much as it pains me to say this I am getting rid of the vivo x fold for the vivo x fold 2 (which makes sense - can't keep both of them I guess).
Even losing the periscope lens I think the phone is going to be really good. Probably include features I wanted from the original vivo x fold (android 13 taskbar) in a lighter chassis

I was so enthusiastic as you are but there is no periscope lens nor IR blaster and those things are a deal breaker for me.
If it doesn't bother you then it's definitely a great upgrade. Lighter, thinner and faster charging speed makes it worth to switch.
I love my X Fold +
I just pre-ordered the X FOLD 2. Hopefully its rootable. If magisk and global modules that will make android auto work, it'll be a great phone

The last one wasn't rootable. Root was achieved through an exploit of the bootloader. Otherwise it isn't possible. I strongly suspect this won't be rootable either.
That being said, to my knowledge the only rootable foldables were the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and (now) the Pixel Fold. But the Pixel Fold is such a disappointment at the crazy insane high price

I’m fairly certain the x fold 2 will not be capable of boot loader unlocking. This means users cannot unlock the bootloader.
The first gen had an exploit to enable the bootloader to be unlocked and by proxy root can be achieved easily. However with the x fold 2 the likelihood of this happening is slim to nil.
If root is a requirement you may want to wait for the xiaomi or the pixel fold
well root would be nice but after Huawei locked every phone i get used of not rooting anymore...thanks for the answer.

Spent some time with the x fold 2 and I have some thoughts
It’s thinner but not terribly thinner
Red is gorgeous af
Camera shots looked better
But this doesn’t feel like an upgrade if you have an x fold. Especially when you take into consideration you lose the periscope lens. I feel like the phone took some steps forward but some steps back that are head scratchers.
That being said you will enjoy it if it lives in a Samsung vacuum. But because there are other foldables out there it’s harder to justify spending money on it. Especially if you have the first x fold.
It’s not bad. To be clear it’s quite the opposite. The dock is nice the refinements are great too. But … not enough.
Maybe I’ve been a bit spoiled with other foldables. If vivo puts the dock on the x fold I can’t really see myself recommending ghe x fold 2. Just the honest truth. Especially if you are one of the lucky few with root
I will skip the X Fold 2 because to me it not worth to upgrade from my X Fold, waiting for the Google Fold and the Trí-Fold from Samsung if SS release it this year
anyone able to find an exploit to unlock bootloader yet? for x FOLD 2?
