MTCE Head Unit resolution problem, no usb, how to change DPI - MTCD Software Development

Hi All,
I have a MTCE unit in my car.
With some tinkering I've managed to unlock its potential, Swapping the launcher, customizing a bit and so on.
The only thing that bothers me a lot is that the units DPI or resolution is ridiculous, every app is barely usable everything is huge.
the units screen is 800x600
and this is its info:
Code:
Model
A-MEDIA AUTO (800x480 O)
Android version
6.0.1
Core version
3.10.0
[email protected] #1320
Build number
px5-userdebug 6.0.1 MXC89L user.hct 20180130.142324 test-keys
MCU version
MTCE_HZC_V2.75b_1
CPU
8 core 64-bit CPU Cortex-A53 @ 1.5G
Memory
2000 MB
after searching the forum and the internet:
there is no obvoius usb connection for ADB, or wireless ADB
only 2 sd slots and a mini usb connector that apparently doesnt even work
no root.
no secret menus with passwords in settings
is there any way I can change the DPI on this thing?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your question is much better posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/mtcd-software-development.7379/
I´ll ask a mod to move it to there. May be have a look around there.
BTW: You really need to upgrade your unit to at least Android 9.

It has a bit issues with the Memory, but I think it would work fine... and you would be able to root, or use a custom ROM with it.

The resolution is changed using the dmcu.ext file. Choose the resolution of your inclusion, copy dmcu.ext to the sd card and update the MCU.

If you want to update the MCU, then yes. Before updating, save the settings in the dmcu.cfg file, it is a backup of your settings, in case of problems with dmcu.cfg, you update the MCU and everything will return to the original settings. Factory settings/126/EXPORT, you can find the file in the root directory, take good care of it, save it to external storage.

MTCD PX3 with android 7.1.2 - downgrade for rooted rom?

Hi!
I have a PX3 MTCD (XRC) quad core 2GB with android 7.1.2 nougat
nougat is nice, but i'm wondering if it is really necessary to have the latest android offering on these units?
would there be a benefit to downgrading to a rooted Malaysk 5.1 rom?
I'm looking for speed and reliability.
Usually I'll have the following running:
nova launcher
neutron for music player (my music is all FLAC files which neutron plays.. also neutron widget is great/stable)
or sometimes pandora
navigation: google maps, sometimes waze
when not actively using navigation apps to get anywhere, i'll have MiniMap overlay on the left half of the home screen and pandora/neutron widgets on the right, just below a Google Now widget (shows weather and some important info)
minimap overlay: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teqtic.minimap&hl=en (very cool floating/re-sizable)
I've got a mobile jetpack in the glovebox for data (not sure I can recommend this if you live someplace hot)
Here are some specs of the unit I've got:
CPU Rockchip 3188 Cortex A9 Quad core
RAM DDR3 2GB
Flash 16GB
GPS SIRF III
Loader FORYOU DL-30
Amplifer IC ST TDA7388
Radio IC ST TDA7786
Bluetooth 4.0
Resolution 1024*600
Max output 4*50W
Main Frenqency 1.6GHz
So should I stick with 7.1.2 or would there be much more benefit for speed/customization/?? if I downgrade for rooted rom?
Thanks!
Do you installed the Malaysk rom? I have the same system and i want to downgrade it, but im so confused because ther's not a lot of info. for px3
Please tell me if u do it

Hello there
have you figured any way to root ?
I'm +1 for the rooting question as I have not figured any way to do it yet.
I have pretty much the same unit, for my Kia optima. I tried to install malaysk's rom and recovery asked for nupdate.img, not dupdate.img like all these other threads specify. Even renaming the file to nupdate didn't work, told me invalid firmware. I have another thread asking for advice, but it hasn't garnered a response.

Has in the meantime already someone have found away to root the HU?

XRC Root Solution
Hi All,
Might have something that may help. An img file provided as a root solution but A-Sure (another supplier on the list) but I cannot get it to work I either get a partial file or a complete one. I cant post links due to my current post count but if anyone want the file to check out and maybe figure out where I am going wrong you are welcome. Drop me a PM and I will pass on my G-drive location for the download

Hi,
I have the same unit as yours mounted in my 2008 audi TT mk2 and everything works perfectly : bluetooth, steering wheel control, usb sticks...
Didn't try to root or change anything yet. Only issue is "Audroid auto apk I downloaded (not present in my Play Store) is not working.
Still discovering MTCD world...
I would be interested in your settings around the canbus and also just a check on how you have set up the wiring.

I just rooted my mtcd_kld_v2.58_1 with KingOroot. I then upgraded SU to SuperSU and uninstalled KingOroot while still retaining root. Its in one of the threads in this forum.
Yes, Kingoroot does the job. I am still however struggling to get my MF730M working.

It crashes on mine too. Rk3188 px3 with 2gb of RAM. 7.1
Im running the px5. Does it install superuser and give you root? If so, you can install supersu after and uninstall kingoroot and superuser, leaving root with just supersu.

The RK3188/PX3 2Gb N units use a slightly modified SoM compared to the older RK3188/PX3 1Gb L units (the motherboard is the same). @Hal9k_ managed to get the N ROM to work on the older board simply by altering the partitioning so it should theoretically be possible to make the L ROM run on the later units as well.

- note the approx 5 minutes of grey screen before "erase" is seen, proceeding first SDCard install of android 8 recovery files.
Team effort. Noted no BT with wd725 (integrated wifi/bt.)
Technical details of the 'Upgrade" - maybe useful in other upgrade scenarios:
- The Android 6 [update.img] [miniloaderall.bin] has been replaced with the Oreo [miniloaderall.bin] from the Oreo OTG ROM Extract.
- The modifed Android 6 update image is used to create a bootable SDCARD. containing the the Oreo Miniloader.
- SDCARD flashes the OREO Recovery images to NAND.
- With Oreo Recovery installed, .ZIP upgrade images can be installed.
Hi,
With resellers not proving a PX5 Oreo ROM image and no other member having OTG and as I have OTG and the jig/tools I could provide a ROM extract if the community provides a PX5 Oreo core board or complete unit.
Any supporters for either loaning a PX5 Oreo SOM or funding a complete unit?
If loaned I would extract ROM and return SOM within 2 days.

I will likely be able to loan a unit or SOM within a week or so. I noticed the SOM rev 8 (used in the Oreo hu) has more header pins than the earlier version though some may be blank. Is your hardware compatible?

I'm a bit new to this. I see when I click the link there's an image and also a "download" button. If I download there's a jpeg sharp enough to read the silkscreen. (Unless Samsung is only allowing downloads to Samsungs?) I took the pic with my cellphone, I could also do one on the dslr.

Does anyone know if the interface board provides better (i.e. multiple) USB ports now (i.e. not a single USB port split with a hub), and/or if the USB is better than the prior USB speed and power provided?

Why would you say that ? My MM 4Gb RK3368/PX5 SoM is also rev8.0.
@marchnz you could try using MTCD ROM Builder (here, needs a Linux machine : https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...re-development/tool-mtcd-rom-builder-t3475444 ) to make an image using the files in the zip. Theres the option to use FUSE which may get a round any partitioning problems.
I use Linux so I can make an image if youve got somewhere I can upload it to.
Maybe I ll try it myself, its just the hassle of trying to unbrick it if it bricks.
EDIT: just re read that thread and see youve already posted in it and used it on your RK3368/PX5, not sure it would work anyway as I think it requires a proper image already, dont think it can make one from separate images.

To create the image we need the partition addresses....so..unless we got an update with the classic .img or we could dump it from an already MTCD px5 under android 8.
I am going to receive a 4gb/32 px5 board with preinstalled android 8...but I don't know how to do for my pc to recognize it in order to dump the software...(I did before for android tv under rk3288)
Any suggestion?

But would we need the partition addresses if we create a FUSE ROM ? - MTCD ROM Builder will make one big partition surely ?
I could try using an MM RK3368/PX5 image and adding the separate images from the Oreo update.zip.

You dont mention what you have considered, tried already or if you even have an MTC(D/E) unit. If the unit is an MTCx and nothing considered or tried, suggest Android 8 Upgrade method (read thread) or consider flashing Android 8 partition by partition by OTG (also see thread in my sig).

Yes, MTCP. As far as i understand P - is for 8-channel audio. Maybe there are some other differences, but this is the one i'm aware of.
Can you please share what you have? i will try to check if it can be flashed on my HU.
Thanks!
I have a MTCE_HF with MCU v. 3.30 (the latest known on the net), but I suspect it's not compatible with your HU, but anyway you have already a v 3.30, even if it's a v. 3.30_1 (for MTCP?).
Hello everyone. I received an updated Firmware directly from seicane for their head unit. This is Android 10 update for the 2/32 GB unit. Everything seems to be working great so far on unit. If you would like to try it for yourself please feel free to download and install. I'm not too tech savvy so if you have any questions I'll answer them the best I can. Thought I would share for anyone to update their own unit if possible
PLEASE BE ADVISED YOU USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I will not be held responsible for any damages done to your own unit.
Thank you!

Upgrade Android 9->10. PX6 10.1 RK3399 MTCE_KSP. HELP - Various Issues.

*Belsee Android 9 headunit. (PX6 RK3399 10.1" 1024x600 Screen with the MCU MTCE_KSP and BTWQ_BC6)*
Hi Guys, I've been plugging away doing my own researching trying stuff etc. Just wanted to jot down my experience and see if anyone wants to chime in on a few things to help.
I ended up upgrading from my unknown version of Android 9 PQ2A to Android 10 CHS2 IMG -> Download Here
Updating my MCU Firmware from version 3.04 to 3.54 -> Download Here
I tried a number of different images, some not booting, some having a error on the screen MCU doesn't match type stuff. Tried those fixes but they didn't work. Tried the different mod packs but to be honest so many are so ugly.
But OK so I've settled on Android 10, everything works generally OK but I have two issues.
1. My sound used to be alot louder so I presume I had a patched MCU previously. How can I get this patched (file shortcut above)? The android amp mod software doesn't work.
2. My WIFI while it works is generally problematic compared to my Android 9. Is there any patch for Android 10 to fix WIFI related issues?
3. Is there any other Android versions I could update to? That may work with my KSP MCU version? Android 11 or 12 with the same styling as my CHS2.
4. Rooting the headunit seems to be an impossible task, mines not rooted but the mod packs available on here look horrible so I have just left it stock, anyone know of a better way?
But yeah looking for the MCU Sound Patch for my version which isn't available anywhere on the forums and the tools seem to have been removed, and if there's any root or other versions of Android etc.
Files generally sourced from Yandex -> Found here
SoundPatched only works on non-DSP devices, if you want a newer one you need to ask cs-x(RU) to adjustmentit , send him a private message:

I personally use Hal9k paid mod 5.2.0 and have no problems, but other users report both bluetooth and wifi problems, mostly with the WQ_RF210 driver, probably a general problem with the latest android 10 updates. They report the same problem on Dasaita. Same problem with bluetooth, also has android 11, so until they release a fix, all I have to do is try older updates. Good luck.
