PX5 Oreo ROM - MTCD Software Development

MTCD Oreo ROM Extract/Dump is here: ROM
An example of XDA teamwork - Thanks to:
 @ikerg
@xdamember2 @RedScorpioXDA
 @kumarai
Solution see post 159, thanks @kumarai
Process video again thanks to @kumarai
- note the approx 5 minutes of grey screen before "erase" is seen, proceeding first SDCard install of android 8 recovery files.
Team effort. Noted no BT with wd725 (integrated wifi/bt.)
Technical details of the 'Upgrade" - maybe useful in other upgrade scenarios:
- The Android 6 [update.img] [miniloaderall.bin] has been replaced with the Oreo [miniloaderall.bin] from the Oreo OTG ROM Extract.
- The modifed Android 6 update image is used to create a bootable SDCARD. containing the the Oreo Miniloader.
- SDCARD flashes the OREO Recovery images to NAND.
- With Oreo Recovery installed, .ZIP upgrade images can be installed.
Hi,
With resellers not proving a PX5 Oreo ROM image and no other member having OTG and as I have OTG and the jig/tools I could provide a ROM extract if the community provides a PX5 Oreo core board or complete unit.
Any supporters for either loaning a PX5 Oreo SOM or funding a complete unit?
If loaned I would extract ROM and return SOM within 2 days.

I will likely be able to loan a unit or SOM within a week or so. I noticed the SOM rev 8 (used in the Oreo hu) has more header pins than the earlier version though some may be blank. Is your hardware compatible?

A ROM Image has been availible here for almost a week now.

Unfortunately, not. It is an OTA/zip upgrade and not an IMG.

It should be compatible since HA has offered me an Octacore 4 gb RAM SOM to upgrade my 2 gb HU to Android 8.

I can post jpegs however the unit is currently installed. The rom is hct, the mcu is gs and the SOM is hct . I should receive another presumably identical hu today.

I'm a bit new to this. I see when I click the link there's an image and also a "download" button. If I download there's a jpeg sharp enough to read the silkscreen. (Unless Samsung is only allowing downloads to Samsungs?) I took the pic with my cellphone, I could also do one on the dslr.

I zipped the pic and now I should be able to attach it directly. Please let me know if higher res is required.

Does anyone know if the interface board provides better (i.e. multiple) USB ports now (i.e. not a single USB port split with a hub), and/or if the USB is better than the prior USB speed and power provided?
Ditto -- now Bluetooth 5.0?

So it is HCT PX5 SoM Rev8.0 Designed 2017-06-09 Interesting.
It looks like targeted at 8.0 Beta 2 time SoM prototype rushed into manufacturing?

Why would you say that ? My MM 4Gb RK3368/PX5 SoM is also rev8.0.
@marchnz you could try using MTCD ROM Builder (here, needs a Linux machine : https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...re-development/tool-mtcd-rom-builder-t3475444 ) to make an image using the files in the zip. Theres the option to use FUSE which may get a round any partitioning problems.
I use Linux so I can make an image if youve got somewhere I can upload it to.
Maybe I ll try it myself, its just the hassle of trying to unbrick it if it bricks.
EDIT: just re read that thread and see youve already posted in it and used it on your RK3368/PX5, not sure it would work anyway as I think it requires a proper image already, dont think it can make one from separate images.

To create the image we need the partition addresses....so..unless we got an update with the classic .img or we could dump it from an already MTCD px5 under android 8.
I am going to receive a 4gb/32 px5 board with preinstalled android 8...but I don't know how to do for my pc to recognize it in order to dump the software...(I did before for android tv under rk3288)
Any suggestion?

But would we need the partition addresses if we create a FUSE ROM ? - MTCD ROM Builder will make one big partition surely ?
I could try using an MM RK3368/PX5 image and adding the separate images from the Oreo update.zip.

Volsmart, 5.1, RK3188, root?

Hey guys! Been out of the rooting game for a while now. All these locked bootloader nowadays has that effect. Thank God for the Chinese! I just ordered a android head unit for the car from Amazon :
Volsmart 7 inch Android 5.1.1 Car Stereo Lollipop Quad Core 1024600 Capacitive Touch Screen without DVD Player support GPS Navigation Radio Bluetooth OBD2 USB SD WiFi ScreenMirror Backup Camera https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FVV8U2M/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_5jF5xbJ1VW5C8
And I'm wondering what the root process is like for one of these. I'm not sure sure if I should be looking for this specific device, or just something generic based on the software version for instructions. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have Volsmart 5.1 Mtcd-kgl mcu version 1.75_1. If your Mcu version is older, you can ask the seller to give you the latest firmware.
You can use Malaysk MTCD ROM.
I used Malaysk Rom v5 and then upgraded to V6. My HU is running without issue. Malaysk ROM is a pre rooted ROM.
Make sure that you know how to get to recovery menu of the head unit.
Right after upgrading to Makaysk ROM, it is hard to get to recovery to clear cache and data. Keep trying several times, you will be able to. After this, getting to the recovery is normal.
If you don't want to use Malaysk ROM, use Kingo Root, just follow the Xposed LP thread under MTCB development. I did try it successfully before I used Malaysk ROM.
So basically it's just as simple as flashing a different rom, eh? Sounds a little too easy lol
Got it all installed over the weekend. Working great!

Hi,
I'm looking for a repository of all known factory ROMs for MTCE devices. I haven't noticed a MTCE board here on XDA and the fileserver at http://huifei.fs-fileserver.de/content/ is down for no apparent reason?
if you'll need i have the last

but the forum don't let me posting outside links
if you need PM me

Are you looking for a specific ROM or are you the owner of a bunch of ROMs and you need a host to offer them to the people?
I am looking for a convenient place where all the ROMs that people find and share are stored. This used to be http://huifei.fs-fileserver.de, but the link has been dead for some time.

Mtce_mx2_v3.00

Hi,
from Yandex..
https://downloader.disk.yandex.ru/d...f28d6c3c06df2d4&media_type=compressed&tknv=v2
Or:
https://yadi.sk/d/umCvHqCDzHccr/All dmcu for PX3, PX5, Intel Sofia3g/MX/dmcu
Edit:
I have just reflash it my headunit back from mx-3.00 to the mx2 (3.00) version, to the original mx2 version as it was when I bought it, you must choose and do the wipe thing otherwise the head unit will not be start but keep showing the car logo.. in case you would to go back to your mx2 version ofcourse.
People, dont do the above, use the latest MCU version or cross compatible HA or GS MCU.
The MCU is not android and would never require a wipe.
when the adult men talk about logic..
Hi Guys.. do not pay any attention to such reply at all,
I'm gonna explain it to you guys why i'm Wright and that guy is absolutely Wrong!.. please read it very curfely twice..
firstly, I am the one who has this mx2 headunit,
secondly, I am the one who flashed and tested it both version mx+mx2 already,
thirdly, if you do not have mx / mx2 headunit and also you didn't test it (mx/mx2) why did you write a reply back than?
aha, to warn the guys I heard you say? again, first you should Test things and only than say (reply) something useful back..
nobody has asked for your opinion! learn first to read carefully (twice!) and only then write something useful back when it concerns to your own head unit only and if you already have a mx-mx2 headuint and if you have tested it already and your head unit went broke (brick) you have all the right to warn the "people" as you called them.. right?
Very important..
I've written too clearly that I already have an mx2 headunit,
and then I got a mx version (3.00) from my seller and I flashed it with it On My Own mx2 headunit and it went ok so nothing went wrong or defective or damaged my own headunit or something like that at all,
and now I want to go back to the original mx2 version which I already have and did in the meantime.. is there something wrong with it?
Again..
first and only if you have the same headunit with mx / mx2 version and then Only then you have the right to say something useful to the guys back, other than that your reply will literally fall under stupid reply: sucked out of his thumb.
I never need or asked your comment because I want to spend my free time on something useful than on stupid answers/reply's.
Ps: when guys flash them headunit's with custom roms or with this or that custom things there is "sometimes some risk.. Only 2 in 5 long years bricked them headunits and they fixed it back!!" of being damaged (bricked) and that what malay and also hal9 has write it on their first page: Flash It At Your Own Risk.
But if one of the headunits of the guys went broke/brick after flashing this mcu file on his own mx or mx2, I will pay for a newer "motherboard"... a'm I too Clear now!?!
end of story.. some guy let even an old horse laugh.. hahaha.
Thanks you guys for reading!
Can i ask which is better or newer mx or mx2..?
Or which the difference between them?
Thanks.

As far as I know, the only difference are the car-logos, which are shown during the bootup process.
I flashed from mx to mx2 and my Citroen-carlogo is still there, but I cannot chose another one inside the factory-settings.
Correct MX is with car logos and MX2 isnt.
The newest MX version is 3.08. and MX2 is 3.13.

Yes, there is no official place to download those MCU files.
Every file we have here for download is only made accessible by asking the vendor/dealer of the headunits.
So someone should ask Bob from Witson again. ?

Yes, MTCP. As far as i understand P - is for 8-channel audio. Maybe there are some other differences, but this is the one i'm aware of.
Can you please share what you have? i will try to check if it can be flashed on my HU.
Thanks!
I have a MTCE_HF with MCU v. 3.30 (the latest known on the net), but I suspect it's not compatible with your HU, but anyway you have already a v 3.30, even if it's a v. 3.30_1 (for MTCP?).
Hello everyone. I received an updated Firmware directly from seicane for their head unit. This is Android 10 update for the 2/32 GB unit. Everything seems to be working great so far on unit. If you would like to try it for yourself please feel free to download and install. I'm not too tech savvy so if you have any questions I'll answer them the best I can. Thought I would share for anyone to update their own unit if possible
PLEASE BE ADVISED YOU USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I will not be held responsible for any damages done to your own unit.
Thank you!

Question How to permanently disable bluetooth on UIS7862(s) head unit

Hi Guys,
I have tried to use rom toolbox pro to freeze both the Bluetooth app shown on my headunit but the SYU-ANDROID Bluetooth is still on.
I tried adb method but none are working. My unit is rooted.
It is the 13inch 7862(s) 6GB + 128GB ROM. The kernel is new 2023-02-xx.
Any help is appreciated.
I'm working on that, in my MD-EDITION (which will be based on 2023-02 kernel), but by the moment I didn't fin any valid workaround to disable SYU-ANDROID bt module
I am afraid that is not possible at all. FYT changed the BT (kernel) drivers to hardcode the use of their BT-stack with all the limitations there in.
@mariodantas: If you really can make this work, you are a real champion!
