Question Samsung z 3 screen protector - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Hi,
I have had a Samsung flip 3 since march, I never had a screen protector even though bought from new, from Three, I noticed that the screen has started to crack, and also the antenna needs replacing as it cuts out while making calls. I sent it to Samsung and they refused to do anything under warranty as the screen protector has been removed, like I said, nothing to do with me. They want me to pay Ā£270 to get fixed. They said removing the screen protector voids any warranty. I'll never buy Samsung again. They didn't listen to me and all they kept saying was, yes the phone is faulty but my warranty is now void. Three are not interested and say it's a Samsung issue.

Understand when I say this that I am not saying it doesn't suck, but the requirement that the screen protector is present when reporting screen damage is the entire reason almost every other thread is about how to get it replaced. If you took Samsung up on the free premium care offer that came with the phone, they will overlook the lack of a protector. That is assuming it didn't expire yet. The reason they are so adamant about the protector is because they are well aware it is not Gorilla Glass under there. It's not scratch resistant.
Are you absolutely sure you didn't just damage the protector, though? It's a bit blurry around the camera, but the rim near the crease appears to have a slight inset to the buildup of dust and dirt. That is usually what happens at the seam or around the edge of a protector. Since the case wraps around the screen, the only buildup should be along the black rim. If there is a slight line around the camera, your protector is still there.

I had went to Samsung to replace under warranty but as I have rooted the phone... warranty gone, I have to pay for it... I decided not to replace it but to remove it at all.... Now I'm using with screen protector... no any issue so far... even recording inside water... I might put screen protector in future with any custom that reliable but not now... huhuhu!

Here's my experience I wrote in the other thread:
"I took off the original screen protector about 4 weeks ago. It had no damage, but curiosity beat me and I wanted to try the real, naked screen
It felt sooooooo goooood! Smooth, no fingerprints, brighter, touch nav was better, no rainbow effect ect.
Went naked for over 3 weeks and no scratches or anything. But, a couple of days ago I applied myself the whitestone film. Easy to apply and It's better then samsungs.
So, had a nice adventure "
So, my experience, you can go naked, apply your own protector or go to samsung.

You are a brave soul!
Yes, everything seemed better without the protector! I would have gone naked also, but I was going to a beach holiday and didn't want to risk the naked screen with sand, so I applied the whitestone dome film. I still have it on because I want 1 more year out of this phone and then upgrade to z flip 5.

Yeeh, sand is dangerous for a flip in deed (especially when it is closed).
Support taled me, I might take the protector off but they aren't recommending it. But since it's not included in the waerenty, I just don't care

Sorry... now had been more than 5 months without any screen protector and no any issue so far... I'm using phone as usual, flip n open even now more harder....

i've had a display "broken" in the middle (a scratch like in the OP picture) after Samsung replaced the foil. After they redo, it disappeared and it's perfect again
This is the most resistant phone i ever had, it never had one scratch anywhere despite no case. It only got bubble after 10 months, and Samsung replaced the foil for free. Just anonymous bill, rooted, and provided them with fake owner data (they ask for address for "some reason").

Just wanted to add my experience. The stock film started cracking around 6 months in, so I sent it in and had Samsung do the official replacement for free. After I got that back it lasted about 2 months before it started to crack and peel at the edges of the hinge. Samsung wouldn't do it for free again, so I went with the Whitestone Dome EZ Film. I have to say the kit was fantastic and made it super easy to install. I will update when I start to see issues with that film, but it looks equal to if not better than the official replacement.

i would recommend getting a screen protector. the first week i got mine, my little brother decided to get a hold of it and chuck it across my room. i got a huge gash due to it landing face down and sliding on the hardwood floor. two days after that i dropped it from about 2.5 feet up and my glass cracked. i was so excited when i found out how expensive replacing it is. (ie: about $200-$400), i now have replaced my glass and put a screen protector on

Screen protectors don't protect from drops AFAIK. I got mine like 2 months ago and no protection used, not scratched yet. I used my captivate for over a year the same way and I only had ONE scratch because I was stupid enough to put it in the same pocket as my keys.
I've had mine for about 4 months now. No scratches/cracks. I handle my phones carefully, though. It always goes in my back pocket, away from other objects, and I take it out when I sit down.
Bought my phone the first day they were released.
It has a tiny 1/2" long scratch. Barely visible, but it's there. I accidentally put it in my pocket with car keys. Don't normally do that. But I didn't notice for about 30 minutes while it was in there and I was moving around a lot.
I removed my screen protector about 3 weeks ago because i hate how it easily get finger prints. I love the feel of the glass and it doesnt get any scratch even if i put it in my pocket a lot..

I was going to leave my skyrocket bare until I read all of the reports from other users about how the Gorilla Glass is less prone to break but can scratch very easily. So I had Ghost Armor at the mall put a protector on my screen. Two weeks later, my wife threw me a set of house keys while I was reading an email and they landed right on the screen. The protector took a beating. I had it replaced for $5 and the screen is still perfect.
It's a compromise. I'd rather have it bare, but you take a chance that an accident will happen.
The skyrocket doesn't have gorilla glass.
Mine is cool. It has a dedicated pocket though.

I put my case and shield on when i think it may be good to have for the day, but most often when i go out drinking.
I've had my white Skyrocket since mid December and so far I don't have a mark on my screen. I can't stand screen protectors and within a day I had pushed the one in my case out. I do keep it in a pocket by itself though.
I bought it in December, and since then, I installed this case. It's pretty decent, no problems so far.
Mine has a dedicated pocket as well.. pretty good way to keep it safe. Owned mine since november, and it has one small scratch about 2 cm long that is only visible with the screen off and holding the phone as a certain angle.. not bad. Not as scratch resistant as my captivate though I'd say.
since early Dec. no screen protection. no scratches. never put it in my jeans pocket with anything other than paper stuff.

I jumped a good 9 foot tall fence on monday (i'm hispanic) and on the very top on the way over, my naked, unscreenprotected bab..skyrocket fell out of my athletic shorts pocket onto a concrete sidewalk hitting it usb port side first. I thought i was screwed but when i picked it up, not a scratch on the unshattered screen and the SR was all good to go besides quite a bit of scuffs on the bottom. see pics:

You just HAD to add the part where your hispanic and jumping a fence... didn't you.
I usually have my phone in a case and screen protector, but it feels so sleek without the case, so I took it off. <3
I want to take off the screen protector (removable/reusable/washable screen protector), but I know the second I do, I'll end up scratching it.

IQ Shield & Skinomi Skintech Screen Protector(covers edge panel)

I saw this mentioned on another thread and since it is one of the only screen protectors known to cover the edge panel,I am really considering ordering one.
My question is, for anyone that already may have received there's.... since this requires the adhesive spray- how is the installation on the edge panel holding up/applying.
I have never used a screen protector that needed spray, but I'm imagining it being difficult/not staying on (12-24 hours needed to rest before using) because of the curve? Any thoughts

I have always trusted screen protector companies that provide the spray with their screen protector. IMO, screen protectors with spray actually stick on and works better than those that don't come with it. XtremeGuards screen protector does not comes with it and I have had it peeled off on me, whereas Zagg has been working marvelously for me. The spray actually helps with the installation of the screen protector as well, as it allows you to move the screen protector without damaging the screen protector or your phone. And once you squeezed all the liquid out and the screen protector dry up, it will stays on your phone beautifully.
You can watch this video to get an idea on how the screen protector with spray works.
I purchased one also , for the past year i've exclusively bought glass screen protectors , but with the curve on the note edge it seem's unlikely that that will happen with this phone , just have to wait and see, before that i always used ivisishield , expensive but i never really like the way it felt , so with really very slim options to chose from i purchased the skinomi also should arrive tommorrow , my note edge should also , i'm familiar with that type of application , as long as you follow the directions especially the part about sparaying both hands liberally , keeps from getting finger prints on the protector should be very easy , i used to feel very apprehensive about doing these thing's having OCD doesn't help matters much either ....LOL , but Skinomi has an excellent reputation as well as a lifetime guarantee , which usually means if you screw it up they will send you another one , as another poster suggested there are several UTUBE video's available , good luck , and let's see those Pic's , if i get mine done tomorrow i will do my best to show photo's , i hope other member's will also ....................:good:

Funny I always used solution I made with Dawn size on your thumb nail and 12 ounces of water in a bowl. Mix and wait a few minutes scooping out any bubbles. I wet my fingers and peel of the protector and dip it in the solution and let it drip then place it on the phone and its done. Use a microfiber to gently pat it once it is in position and in a few hours good to go. Any bubbles will disappear. I used this on iphones, note 3, galaxy s3, s4 and zero damage and on all my tablets too.
Got mine delivered today and installed it immediately. My overall experience with the skinomi screen protector for the note edge isn't bad at all. Just make sure you wash your hands before starting.
And the screen protector does cover the entire screen, including the edge panel and it's a good quality as well. A little gummy to the touch but not as bad like the the zagg.
Also, skinomi offers a lifetime replacement warranty so that's an added bonus.
My advice, get one and be very patient with the installation process. If you happen to messed up, just peel it off and wash with soap and water then reapply with the solution spray provided. Do keep in mind not to over spray the solution. Keep it as minimal as possible that way you'll reduce the risk of water damage and it will be easier to squeegee out the excess liquid.
I used a blow dryer after i re over all the excess liquid and now my note edge screen is fully protected
Just got the screen protector and installed it. Feels nice and when i got the kit, the bottle was already filled with solution. Only thing I could think of, is...make sure it's properly wet so you dont over stretch the pieces. Also, OMG...it has so many small pieces that it took me a while to put all on.

Screen protector?

Does a screen protector detract from the looks? Is one needed? Which ones should we use?
I use one, can't tell difference to w/o. As this is one of the cheaper ones (6 pcs for 2 EUR) I think most of the offered ones are fine
Yeah I use one I got a 6 pack off amazon, nothing special just standard screen protector material and you cant even tell that its there. Probably gonna grab a tempered glass one here soon just for the hell of it.

Don't get the tempered glass protector from Amazon. They don't fit the full face of the watch. I have one. They leave like a little over .5mm all the way around. I'll take a pic if you want one.[
It is true that a screen protector detract from look but it's essential until you have gorilla glass.

Yes, it is fantastic protection and relatively easy to just "plop" on.
Is there any real reason why on earth you need screen protector on watch?
Especially when there`s gorilla glass instead of usual.
It`s a wearable device that is mounted on wrist all day long, so there`s no risk of drop at all.

You can still bump your watch against a door or wall which could scratch the watch face. Happened to me with a few watches in the past. Screen protectors are more for scratches than drops anyhow . In the end it's a matter of taste vs peace of mind. No wrong answer here. Personally I always lean towards using one and all my devices still look new after tons of use.
Screen protector
I tried one on but took it off in five min. It was protruding above the frame and didn't feel natural.
It was also gathering dust around the edge quickly and took away from the aesthetics of the watch.
I'll just be careful in handling the watch and enjoy the beauty of the watch at all times, rather.
The regular old school ones I got off amazon work great and you cant even tell it's on thenwatch.
As far if you need one or not, that's just a matter of opinion, ive banged my Smartwatches (Gear 1, Gear S) off door knobs walking down my hall a few times or at work while rushing around, it makes your stomach turn lol, yes the glass is definitely resilient but it never hurts to add a safety layer as long as it keep the watches aesthetics, Lucky I haven't banged my S2 off anything and hope I never do, but at least my screen will be covered if I do lol
have anyone tried the full body skin protector ? im just curious, is it truly invisible or would it be annoying ?

I have this on my watch. I'm very happy with it.
I bought a tempered glass one from eBay, it fitted very well. But it did create the thinnest halo effect around the the edge. So I took it off.
Then thought, I don't put any protectors on any of my other watches and most are regular glass.
I got this tempered glass screen protector on aliexpress. Very happy with it - fits really well and is barely noticeable. I think I read somewhere that it would be slightly too small for the classic though.
I have supershieldz from amazon for last few weeks and I happy with it.
I bought this from amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015X2DG2I?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Install was easy and I dont even know it is there. No loss in touch or responsiveness.
Got two tempered glass screen protectors off Amazon for about $10 each (Canadian). First one was tricky and had slight halo but that was my own fault. Took it off and tried again with my second one...perfect. No halo, can't even really tell it's on

Display is extremely fragile...

So, after 1 month with this phone it fell from my pants pocket and display was damaged, glass didn't break but display is totally ruined so I can't use it anymore. Case + Tempered glass didn't do anything to protect it.
I can't believe this, before this phone I had a Huawei G7 and fell countless times to the floor, even in the water and not even a single crack in it.
Be carefull with this phone, just an advice.
Here's a vid from SquareTrade testing this phone and showing how fragile it is (thanks bw03 for sharing it)

Knock on wood, I've been lucky.
Have dropped my phone like six times now, all onto concrete or tile from about waist height.
No issues yet, knock on wood.
It's got a flimsy super thin case that does not protect the corners but so far I guess it's fallen the right way.
I've dropped my phone several time as well. No issues. Its more luck (or lack thereof) of the drop than anything.
Dropped mine about 3 times from shirt pocket so about a 4-5 ft drop concrete tile and hardwood floor no scratches no breaks...
My girlfriend dropped mine and it got a bunch of cracks and now I have to use otg and a mouse to use it
I have made insurance in case of breaking the Display for 25 euros.....
I wish I had an insurance before, god damn it was the 1st time I dropped mine
insurance here in brazil is about BRL500, something about 120US$, so i'd rather stay safe :B
That being said, this slippery fella right here has already fallen a couple of times, only some hard-to-notice scratches on the case, tempered glass not broke yet.
I forgot to mention I went full bore on mine got maxed out memory wood back and insurance... Main reason why it is not rooted yet...
Dropped mine more times than I care to remember.
TPU case, absolutely no issues in about 6 months of ownership.
This is nothing new. See here:

Whoa man, wish I had that info before, thanks for sharing
You're all warned now, get yourselves a good case because my TPU didn't protect it
Now that I think, My TPU case only protected the glass (it didnt break, not a single scratch) but it didn't absorb the impact to protect the display
I don't know if they make the rhino case for our phone but I got a kick out of this video.

Bought this after my Xperia fell from maybe a foot and a half and completely shattered. That same phone fell out of my hands at a train station and was subsequently kicked by a passer by (accidentally, not maliciously) and came through completely unscathed. Was in the same case in both instances. Sometimes it hits at just the perfect angle that there's no hope.
That SquareTrade review worries me a bit...

I kneeled down to pet a small dog and my jacket pockets inverted. The phone fell about 24 inches onto dirt and the edge of the screen snapped. All the screens breaking on this phone is not a case of bad luck. The screen's rim is clearly not designed correctly. It's shorter than the glass and smaller in diameter than the chassis - totally useless. Check any other phone, even the cheap Chinese phones, and you'll find that a flat surface can not touch the glass or the chassis next to the glass.
I'm mad now because this is clearly going to happen again and it's $150 each time. I'm thinking about not repairing it and buying another brand. No wonder there are no accessories or development for this phone. Most people are staying clear of it.

Sorry for your bad luck on the drop, but have you even looked in the development thread?
Mine fell out of my pocket when I was getting out of the car. It's pretty low so it was probably a 2-3ft drop onto the concrete. It shattered and the right half of the touch screen stopped working. I couldnt find a complete white assembly with the frame besides some obscure website where it was out of stock for who knows how long. I had to buy just the screen and glass itself. It was very difficult to take the broken screen out of the frame and glue the new one in. If I was able to get a complete assembly the repair would be very easy.

Wear and tear off screen and tear glass

Hey guys, I know the phone has only been released a week ago, but has anyone started to see any scuff marks on their phone? Interested to see for those who are rocking their phone naked if they've managed to get any scuff or scratch marks on the rear glass or screen yet?

It's not easy to scuff glass... I have a nearly 6 months old galaxy note 5 (same glass construction as the s7) that's still perfect.
I kept the plastic on the front and back of my phone and my girlfriends phone until we got home. Put a front screen protector on both immediately.
Kept the plastic on the back of my phone until my case came in. No scratches on mine.
My girlfriend apparently doesn't care about her phone scratching as much...But will nag me to death if I forget to wipe off the bathroom sink smh...
She took the plastic off the back of her phone after it started peeling, still no case (Because she can't decide on one), and her front screen protector is peeling up already. No scratches yet but if anyone's going to scratch it....will be her.

So many ways I want to respond to this...
1st: Murphy's Law dictates that hers will remain in perfect shape with no protection, and yours will be scratched all over.
2nd: Perhaps your girlfriend is trying to suggest that she prefers things naked?

Murphy's Law is killing me lately... Used Samsung Pay very first time on an old drive through car wash then it rains 3 days in a row.
I bet my dog will end up chewing on my phone and leave hers alone. Even Best Buy knows dogs are bad news for cell phones. Their mobile protection has a Beagle right on the front...I have 2 beagles:

Wow. I need to read posts more carefully. I scanned through your post and saw the "I'll take a naked girlfriend..." comment directly below a picture of a dog...
Please tell me that your dog isn't named Murphy.

Had mine for three days and have a light scratch on the screen and a small nick on the back. I never put covers on my phones so I take the chance. I am careful with them but they all get marked up a little bit at some point.

So far mine has been doing pretty well. I've dropped a few times on various surfaces with no scratches to the screen or back. I did manage to get a small ding in the corner where it landed on a concrete patio, but that is on the metal frame. The glass is still pristine. I've been quite impressed actually.
Thanks for the reply so far guys. I've been watching reviews and durability tests on YouTube and it looks like the screen can take a good beating and still come out perfectly fine. The back glass on the other hand, people seem to be finding that it is scuffing and scratching up a lot easier than the screen. I know that the specs say gorilla glass 4 on the front and back but I'm curious to know why the back glass isn't fairing as well.
