Question Question regarding sims and S22 Ultra+ - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Could someone guide me as to the best way to accomplish the following. I have a S22 Ultra+ that’s a work phone. That’s # is in the physical sim slot. I would like to add an eSim that would allow me data so that I can hotspot off the phone, which I can’t do with my work sim. It has to be a Verizon or ATT mvno. Could anyone advise?

Dual SIM

Anyone know if N20 Ultra will have dual SIM in States? I've searched but couldn't find anything solid on it.
ANy update fellas? Are they gonna release OTA to add eSIM functionality? I am regretting buying this 1300 bucks toy now.
I want to know this too, would pull the trigger right now but can't find it. Official site says there are single and dual sim models, but when you go to checkout doesn't say what you're getting!

Just chatted with support, FWIW, he said only the Global version has dual-sim, not the US version.

Well that's a bummer.. I guess it's going on swappa or offerup, still making money.
So the USA model won’t even be dual sim EG one physical sim and one e-sim? [emoji23]
Nope, yet Apple has had it for two years!
Dual sim= Sim+ eSim
Exynos
just like the s20 ultra it isnt clear at all. there does seem to exist a 'B' model and an 'F' model, some are dual sim, some are LTE only. its hard to find exactly the right one. In the Note 10 the 'F' model didnt have band 30. But on the LTE only s20 (no 5G) there is band 30. But on the 5G model there isnt band 30. Frustrating if you use AT&T
I think the dual sim model of the Note 20 ultra is sm-n986b. its not clear if its dual sim or sim plus e-sim.
The US models are historically NOT dual sim on nOte 10 and s20.
In Europe is dual sim = sim + sim or you can use sim + esim + SD card on ultra
If you look at the USA web site...

Thanks, do you have a link to that page? When I go to Note 20 Ultra specs on Samsung's site, it only shows carrier, color and memory.

Omg, i always have to buy the HK versions of Samsung devices because they Are Snapdragon+Dual Sim, but if (FINALLY) Samsung make USA model version Dual Sim too, that means (at least for me) pay less. Did you have the link? i want to check so i can make the pre-order

That link is for "global" version and it says ESIM support is dependent on country/carrier. Samsung has disabled ESIM specifically for US for some odd reason. They promised S20 will have ESIM with a software update but that did not happen as of yet, we can only hope their $1500 flagship N20 Ultra supports this but as of now there is no mention of it.

Don't hold your breath!
Has anyone used one of the international Dual-SIM unlocked models recently? I'm guessing they still don't have the ability to do VOLTE and Wifi Calling because they don't have the US CSCs available. I have the US unlocked Note 10+ and appreciate how smooth the carrier swap process is, but like everyone else I'd prefer to just leave a couple of SIMs in at the same time.

It depends on the carrier, but you will get WiFi calling and VoLTE on US Tmobile if using Exynos dual sim model. It lacks the important bands though like band 66, band 71 and some 5G bands
From what Ive seen and reading - no Dual Sim in North America ( same like S20 ) -which means Physical + Esim, having just Esim means phone w/o a physical sim and thats it, but not work in conjuction

It acts like the regular Snapdragon version will support Dual Sim???? I won't be able to test it out until Monday so curious if anyone else has tried.
I have an ATT SD variant that lists 2 IMEIs on the box, however, it appears the eSim functionality has been disabled. there's another thread on the eSim where this is being discussed as well.

Can I get 5G if 2 SIM inside the phone

Hi guys I have Note20 Ultra 5G Snapdragon version SM-N9860
And the 5G is working fine in the slot 2 but if I add another SIM in slot 1 the 5G disappear is there any way to make the 5G working if I am using 2 SIM in the same time
By the way
The exynos phones can do it without problem my brother using S20 Ultra and I tried to put 2 SIM inside the phone and I get 5G without any problem
make sim in slot 2 default sim for data/calls/sms
or whichever slot has 5g sim in it
Guess it's a Snapdragon thing since OP 8 Pro wouldn't let me use 5G while 2 SIM cards were active. Android 11 should bring support for it.
Like you said, Exynos allows it already.

I tried that doesn't work
Even if I'm using only one SIM in the first slot the 5G doesn't work.

Ah, yeah, that's the carriers behind that - cuts into their roaming business. Same here in Canada - which is why I ordered the SM-N9860. I have an SM-G9650 (LATAM S9+ DS) now, and can't see myself ever going back to single SIM.

Not necessarily - for example, there is still some question as to whether we can get 5G to work or not (it only has three 5G bands). That doesn't matter so much to me though - it has all the 4G bands I need, and it is Snapdragon, dual-SIM with 256GB of storage. You'd have to compare the bands it has to what you want/need for your carrier. There's a whole thread on it here if you want to check it out.

I ordered mine from PDAPlaza up here in Montreal - but there are several sellers on EBay, and the European guys got theirs from a distributor called Wondamobile. Your best bet is probably EBay, but there are lots of sources for these gray-market phones. Bear in mind it won't have a warranty in the US however - you'd have to go through the seller for warranty service.

Hi..I am in the UK and using dual SIM in my exynos N20U. Actually both of my SIMS are 5G and if i am in 5G area the Sim is use for mobile data ways connects to 5G. So it shouldn't be an issue for SD variant also..

Yes the official version in my country is exynos and I tried the exynos version of S20U with 2 SIM cards and it is working fine, but I bought the HK Snapdragon version of N20U but unfortunately if I insert 2 SIM cards the 5G disappear
I've got an exynos dual sim version and 5g works for me when I've both sims installed, but only on one sim at a time. See the screenshot in the link.

ATT on T-mobile

I am thinking of purchasing a Samsung Note 20. If a phone is unlocked I assume it would work on T-Mobile. My question is if I purchase an ATT variant, I know the phone would work with a T-mobile sim, but will VOLTE (wireless calling) work if it an ATT branded phone and wether there's an issues with updates.
Thank you

Basically it should work.
According to the following thread, there might be some issues using 5g though:
At&t Note20 Ultra unlcoked on T-mobile help

A few questions if you converted N986W to N986U

Hi everyone,
I own a N9860 (Hong Kong version) but the 5G bands are not compatible with Canadian carriers, who use N66 and N71.
I'm weighing up returning this phone and getting a Canadian variant, but there will be a couple trade-offs:
1. Storage will shrink from 256GB to 128GB
2. Go from dual SIM to Single SIM.
Regarding the dual SIM issue, I need to know if anyone has managed to do this:
1. Flash their N986W with T-Mobile's N986U firmware.
2. Successfully enabled eSIM.
3. Not lost 5G connectivity in Canada.
4. Activated their phone number on the eSIM with Bell.
5. Kept a functional Samsung Pay.
If anyone with experience with these things can share their experience, I would definitely appreciate it!
Looks like I have to reply to my own question!
So here are my findings:
1. Yes, flashing from N986W to N986U (TMB) can be done without a hitch using Prince Comsy.
2. A greyed-out eSIM IMEI appears in About Phone.
3. No SIM card manager in Settings ==> Connections.
4. No EID in Settings ==> About ==> SIM Status (or anywhere else), and Bell cannot enable eSIM without it.
5. TMB 5G doesn't use N66! Flash with your own CSC to get the right bands enabled.
6. It's a long story, but I couldn't verify that 5G works, even with my own CSC, since my plan wasn't properly set up for 5G when I tested all this.
7. Samsung Pay appears to work just as well as the Canadian variant, including with debit cards.
At the end, it was a lesson learned in futility. Hopefully, Samsung Canada will properly enable eSIM sometime before this device is EOL.

In settings>connections>cellular network you can set mode for sim and esim 2g/3g/4g/5g.
I have model F2 5g- F916B EU and use dual sim.

Thank you GRIZZLY.But when I set eSIM to 5G/LTE/3G/2G(auto connect) ,the Nano SIM changes automatically to LTE/3G/2G(auto connect). And when I set Nano SIM S1 to 5G/LTE/3G/2G(auto connect),the eSIM automatically changes to LTE/3G/2G(auto connect). What is the correct procedure to set both the eSIM and Nano SIM to 5G/LTE/3G/2G(auto connect)?

Interesting, I don't used sim from phisical slot to 5g connecting because my sim card is too old for 5g but now I see identically like in your situation.
When I tap 5g/4g/3g/2g mode for physical sim I see only max 4g for esim and the other way round is similar- probably impossible 5g for both sim.
