Anyone know if N20 Ultra will have dual SIM in States? I've searched but couldn't find anything solid on it.
ANy update fellas? Are they gonna release OTA to add eSIM functionality? I am regretting buying this 1300 bucks toy now.
I want to know this too, would pull the trigger right now but can't find it. Official site says there are single and dual sim models, but when you go to checkout doesn't say what you're getting!

Just chatted with support, FWIW, he said only the Global version has dual-sim, not the US version.

Well that's a bummer.. I guess it's going on swappa or offerup, still making money.
So the USA model won’t even be dual sim EG one physical sim and one e-sim? [emoji23]
Nope, yet Apple has had it for two years!
Dual sim= Sim+ eSim
Exynos
just like the s20 ultra it isnt clear at all. there does seem to exist a 'B' model and an 'F' model, some are dual sim, some are LTE only. its hard to find exactly the right one. In the Note 10 the 'F' model didnt have band 30. But on the LTE only s20 (no 5G) there is band 30. But on the 5G model there isnt band 30. Frustrating if you use AT&T
I think the dual sim model of the Note 20 ultra is sm-n986b. its not clear if its dual sim or sim plus e-sim.
The US models are historically NOT dual sim on nOte 10 and s20.
In Europe is dual sim = sim + sim or you can use sim + esim + SD card on ultra

That link is for "global" version and it says ESIM support is dependent on country/carrier. Samsung has disabled ESIM specifically for US for some odd reason. They promised S20 will have ESIM with a software update but that did not happen as of yet, we can only hope their $1500 flagship N20 Ultra supports this but as of now there is no mention of it.

Don't hold your breath!
Has anyone used one of the international Dual-SIM unlocked models recently? I'm guessing they still don't have the ability to do VOLTE and Wifi Calling because they don't have the US CSCs available. I have the US unlocked Note 10+ and appreciate how smooth the carrier swap process is, but like everyone else I'd prefer to just leave a couple of SIMs in at the same time.

It depends on the carrier, but you will get WiFi calling and VoLTE on US Tmobile if using Exynos dual sim model. It lacks the important bands though like band 66, band 71 and some 5G bands
From what Ive seen and reading - no Dual Sim in North America ( same like S20 ) -which means Physical + Esim, having just Esim means phone w/o a physical sim and thats it, but not work in conjuction

It acts like the regular Snapdragon version will support Dual Sim???? I won't be able to test it out until Monday so curious if anyone else has tried.
I have an ATT SD variant that lists 2 IMEIs on the box, however, it appears the eSim functionality has been disabled. there's another thread on the eSim where this is being discussed as well.

Anyone know if the 5g version is dual SIM... Two different people say two different things. If I pay to get a dual SIM tray from eBay...
Regards
The 5G version, which is currently only sold by EE, is not dual-SIM. It can be flashed to the dual-SIM international firmware but you lose the ability to use 5G by doing so. You would also need to replace the single-SIM tray with a dual-SIM tray.
The international firmware has no firmware, drivers, etc. to run the 5G X50 modem. Unfortunately, that is only contained within the 5G firmware.

Is this something that can possibly be fixed software-wise in the future?
I wanted to get the oneplus 5g but I needed dual sim as well (plus the relatively worse support as updates have not yet been seeded to Oneplus 5g unlike the non-5g versions) - sounds like EE and OnePlus bamboozled consumers with a more expensive but poorly-supported 5G version

You can restore the original firmware to restore 4G, but you will lose dual-SIM. However, you could try flashing just the OTA on the %G to see if it leaves the 5G enabled while enabling dual-SIM. I haven't seen anyone doing this specifically on the 5G model but flashing the International US OTA on the T-Mobile stock firmware leaves you with a T-Mobile dual-SIM hybrid.
Hi, how did you get on with this as I was considering the 5G, but like others didn't want to lose dual SIM?
I have ordered dual SIM tray to give it a go as was told by rep at OnePlus the 5g does support dual SIM it's set to single sim at ee request ?
Please update when you receive it.
I've made one of the SIMs to fit in the tray without buying a dual SIM tray and it's not dual SIM capable. So I think it's the EE firmware to be blamed for single SIM use....?

The activation of the dual SIM facility will be in the firmware. The 5G version has two modems the x50 for 5G and the soc 855 built in 4g modem. Until EE/ OnePlus releases this and the Wizards on xda find what's blocking the function,we are batting blind!

The dual-SIM hardware is there. If you flash one of the international firmware versions, you will enable dual-SIM, but at the cost of losing 5G. You only have 5G with the 5G firmware, because that firmware is the only one that contains the X50 modem support.

This is incorrect, there is no way to enable dual SIM on the GM1920 or GM1925. This would require a modem.img with the SDX50 dsds configs, which we don't have.
you can however the flash the European 10 update on to the Sprint model, there are issues with Sprint data, but non Sprint carriers work fine.

The only difference between the 5G and non-5G models is the add-on modem. All devices have the dual-SIM slot, just the SIM tray needs to be swapped if the firmware is changed. The global firmware does not have anything to run the 5G modem, meaning it won't work, but 4G will. Whether flashing the Global, EU, or another firmware, only changes the bands and carrier support. Clearly you didn't fully read my post before saying it is incorrect.

Clearly you dont own one and havent tried, or you'd know it doesn't work.
I have.
I'm well aware the hardware is there for dual sims, but we have not found a way to enable it, the non-5G firmware WILL NOT BOOT FULLY when flashed via dd and fastboot and we have no way of using an msm to see if the result is any different... I've worked closely with the "guac for all" devs on this matter...
If you're actually interested in knowing more or think you can get it to work somehow, pm me and id be happy to brainstorm with you.
But myself and a group of others havent been able to enable DSDS, it's not just as simple as you are implying it to be if it is possible at all.
Hi guys I have Note20 Ultra 5G Snapdragon version SM-N9860
And the 5G is working fine in the slot 2 but if I add another SIM in slot 1 the 5G disappear is there any way to make the 5G working if I am using 2 SIM in the same time
By the way
The exynos phones can do it without problem my brother using S20 Ultra and I tried to put 2 SIM inside the phone and I get 5G without any problem
make sim in slot 2 default sim for data/calls/sms
or whichever slot has 5g sim in it
Guess it's a Snapdragon thing since OP 8 Pro wouldn't let me use 5G while 2 SIM cards were active. Android 11 should bring support for it.
Like you said, Exynos allows it already.

Not necessarily - for example, there is still some question as to whether we can get 5G to work or not (it only has three 5G bands). That doesn't matter so much to me though - it has all the 4G bands I need, and it is Snapdragon, dual-SIM with 256GB of storage. You'd have to compare the bands it has to what you want/need for your carrier. There's a whole thread on it here if you want to check it out.

I ordered mine from PDAPlaza up here in Montreal - but there are several sellers on EBay, and the European guys got theirs from a distributor called Wondamobile. Your best bet is probably EBay, but there are lots of sources for these gray-market phones. Bear in mind it won't have a warranty in the US however - you'd have to go through the seller for warranty service.

Depends if the 5g bands are the same in both countries (and operators), you'd need to check that.
You could try the whitelisting method used on the Hong Kong variants which allows 5g use in Europe. Google it.
This is interesting part. I've been thinking about this not long time ago. My idea is as HK variant has same chipset etc, except storage with USA variant. So I believe it possible in some way to enable hidden or locked 5G bands on USA variant.

Well this answers my question. I recently bought a US version note 20 ultra 5g and having trouble activating the 5g on my phone which seems to be impossible. I should have bought a snapdragon hk version instead then. This is very frustrating cause I'm really enjoying the benefits of a Note phone.
I have ordered the S22 Ultra from the US and hoping to use it in India. Can anyone confirm if the USA Unlocked S22 Ultra will work on Indian SIM Carriers? I have also read that Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass stopped working under such situations in last year's S21 Ultra. For curiosity may I ask reason to import from USA when this time India have Snapdragon already.

The samsung s22 ultrabought from usa works on airtel Sim in India. But I am not sure about jio Sim.
BUT THE CALL RECORDING FEATURE DOESNT WORK ON USA MODELS.
The usa models have an extra bandwidth chip installed on the right side corner of phone. That helps the device to work and have better network in low network areas like basement etc.
I personally checked this on iPhone 12 same models with same network jio one usa version and other Indian version. The usa version model was able to receive and make calls buy Indian model couldn't make and receive calls.

Yes, you're right, that isn't a chip; it's an mmWave antenna that enables support for 5G frequencies well beyond the 6GHz range. Besides the US, few/no countries I know of have deployed or even planned on deploying these ultra-high frequency bands, so this antenna is practically useless outside the USA.
I just bought Galaxy S22 Ultra from Samsung US website unlocked, then my work moved me to Kuwait. I purchased a 5G sim card but was never able to connect at 5G speed (my carrier is Ooredoo).
I went back to the store the the sales person took my sim card and placed it in an iPhone and the 5G worked perfectly with a speed of 750.
I called Samsung and they told me that because you have a US version, it should only works 5G in the states.
Any suggestions please on what to do?
Please note that I already checked all basic settings like selecting the 5G network and checked the APN settings for Ooredoo.
