Hello good folks, I noticed that 3rd party apps like Chomp SMS are not able to see either of the SIM cards to send out messages. Is there anything I need to do as i don't like the default Mi SMS app. Thanks for your anticipated suggestions/help.
I'm using google Messages. No problem (even chat features working)
(Its so good that I delete it my stock one)

Did you unlock bootloader to do it
To do what ? Delete app ? No I debloat it via adb
Try changing the permissions for the app, often it's set to Return blank messages or deny, set to always allow. That worked for me with the Google Messages app.

Thanks for responding. I set all the permissions and it still doesn't work.
Is the app set as the default app for messaging?
Try toggling the "Get device info" permission under the messaging app.
I had forgotten how annoying the CN version is. I use the Google Clock app for the alarm. It went off this morning but with no permission to appear on my lock screen, so couldn't turn it off. Chances are it'll reset in a few days and happen again.

I did and it still wouldn't send any texts nor see my existing texts in the oem sms app.
My partner is using xiaomi 12s ultra and yeah, we had issue with Google messages, but after reviewing the permissions, setting the app as default and activating "chat features"... Now it works as a charm.
Next: Gmail doesn't send push notifications... So reviewing the permissions for the app again, setting as default... Bla Bla Bla...
Apparently we have to do this for most of the apps one by one.
It's not a deal breaker thou.
I love this phone

I have an odd problem. I'm using Handcent as the default SMS app instead of Hangouts. When I send a text, it shows double text in the app, but it doesn't actually send out double. The other side only gets 1 text which is cool. however, it is pretty annoying and takes up a lot of screenspace in the app.
When using hangouts to send text, it doesnt show double. Handcent recently updated it's app to support kitkat. Anyone else have isssues like this using third party SMS app on the N5?
No issues at all using this:

Confirmed, also having this issue with Handcent. Can't lose Handcent without losing popup message notifications, so I'll deal for now

Seconded, also looks like two texts are being sent in handcent
Solution
Hi,
I had this problem also but think I figured it out! Go to Settings>> Apps>>All Apps >> Google Hangouts and Disable it. Then restart your phone. Things are working well on my Nexus 5 now when I send and only one message is shown in Handcent.
I had the same issue, and I corrected it by uninstalling the Handcent Emoji addon... If you have that installed, it tends to not play nice.
HTH!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I tried both suggestions, disabling Hangouts and uninstalling the emoji plugin (rebooting after each), and neither corrected the issue. Hopefully Handcent fixes the problem in an update soon!
I removed handcent and then reinstalled it and set it as default sms app before opening it the other day which resolved the issue for maybe 2 days then it just started showing double texts again
I had the issue, I removed it for now giving Hangouts a try.
I like the idea of 1 application to handle the functionality.

GO SMS also had this but it stopped out of no where..
I just removed Handcent again and once again reinstalled it and made it the default sms app in settings before opening up Handcent and I'm back to showing one sent text again
Having the same issue, usually a reboot solves it for a minute or five. sent email to developer
i posted a fix one post up although lets hope they can sort it with just an install

not sure if that's a permanent fix. It's not working for me or any of the other methods people been posting about. I hope handcent can fix it soon.
Having same issue with mighty text on laptop. Using hangouts for all messaging on phone and mighty text when texting from laptop
Hancent shows double text in the app

Yes, i have also this problem. did anyone fixed this ?
I am having the same issue and I have made a little discovery: the thing only happen (at least for me) when the mobile data are activated. Yesterday I was turning crazy with Hangout that doesn't rung, handcent that made me send double sms and go sms that shows the popup window.
So I installed Go sms and deleted the other two apps: today when I was using my phone with mobile data enabled, it sent two sms (the other person received only one). Than turned off data, enabled Wifi and the issue stopped. It's quite weird
It's all happening to my handcent after upgraded to 4.4 I am getting double text out but not actually sending double to the receiver

I also emailed the developer through the play store about a week ago... as yet, no reply
I had this issue. Could never get it fixed. So instead I use 88sms. It took a bit to get used to it cause I've had handcent since the G1 but 88 has a pop up too and it doesn't seem to lag at all like Handcent seemed to do sometimes.
I switched off the stock email APP because it was showing the wrong number of mails on the icon.
I went back to Bluemail which I had used on my Moto Z without issue, took that off and now have Typeapp but same problem - no incoming email notification sound on either?
Any thoughts?

OK if you have done all the necessary settings (all permissions, notifications settings, ignoring Android optimization) then....
You have the same problem either if you leave the app open in resent apps?
This is a more general problem than just with BlueMail.
If you look back a few weeks you'll find a thread about MailDroid, that doesn't give a proper notification tone. I've had to change to Blue Mail, and it does notify properly for me. However when I first used it the app didn't always pick up a mail until I brought it out of lock. It seems to be OK now.
I think this is down to the Mate's aggressive battery-saving that is supposed to learn about app use.
And yes, I have checked the app settings and the phone settings over and over to make sure they are right.
Thanks for the replies. I tried another 3 APPS and all failed to play the notification when I sent a test mail from my PC.
I ended up back with an oldie I haven't used for years - K9 - and all is working as it should.
Not the most up to date look but if it works I'll settle for that. Four APPS with all the settings to key in and then delete it took me to midnight last night... enough was enough
Glad to hear you have found a substitute that works.
With so many different apps being affected, I'm sure there is a system problem with notifications. Hopefully this will be sorted with a future update.
Outlook works fine. Gmail is worse.

is there a way to disable default messaging app?
in my AL00 I used Textra as my default messaging app but at random times the system itself makes the base messaging app default causing me to manually have to go into settings an select textra as my default sms app every time this happens.
Anyone experiencing same behavior?
I don't think you can at least without root. I just got my Mate 9 a couple days ago and I've been using Google's Android Messenger for that time period and it hasn't changed back to the stock app.

But OP, to somewhat answer your question, no. I installed Textra when I first got my phone back in January, and it's never reset the default back to the stock app.

Hi guys,
I don't know if it's Oreo or the Nubia X, but a lot of apps don't show me notifications : Messenger, Snapchat, Candy Crush, TypeMail...
My clock app doesn't ring, and I have a message when I open it after (app forced close).
All those apps has been manually optimised in the battery settings.
An idea ?
I have problems with that too. And my apps always fall asleep, even my phone app, which means when people call me, I don't get the phone calls unless I turn on my phone and suddenly my missed calls and messages show up.
For my WhatsApp, Gmail and Yahoo Mail, even worse. I literally have to open those apps to check if I got new messages or emails.
Go to app info/permission/notifications and enable one by one all notifications you need.

Same thing happens to me. Authorized all the notifications, even set them to urgent. Still no luck
it's not enough guys. You have to go in apps info, permission managment and also power management and give permission to everything.
Go also in accessibility /downloaded services and activate the launcher to ON.
At the end, as for mine, all notifications will work.
Hello,
I have the same issue I rooted my phone its v2.19. Notifications work for 10 mints if I have the app running in the background, apps like gmail and YouTube crash after sometime of use.
I allowed all notifications and permissions and power management, it seems like its only the apps that rely on google play services.
I am not sure if this is a common issue...
I have noticed that some notifications will not come through unless wifi is connected, but after some time of having the screen off, notifications stop working. My email notifications will not come through or show on my lockscreen unless my wifi connection is active, regardless of whether or not my data is turned on.

What apps aren't giving you notifications because some apps like snap chat you have to leave the app open and lock it in task manager

Hi, just bought a mate 30 pro a few days ago without google services. I side loaded all the apps I needed and everything was working great until I realised I wasn't getting my facebook messenger notifications. If the app is open they come through but when I close the app it's like it goes to sleep after about 5 mins. I made messenger my default sms app to see if that would help and all my texts worked fine but my facebook messages just won't work.
I have all my notifications on, app launch set to manual to allow auto-launch, secondary launch and run in background. I even allowed all permissions but didn't make a difference. I have performance mode on and have selected stay connected when device sleeps.
Has anyone else had any problems like this or know how to fix it? I've done a factory reset and been through every option I could think of. I love the mate 30 pro but probably going to have to get rid of it if i can't fix this problem.

Go to notification settings and turn on sounds and "on top" option. All notifications works well for me - asian version of mate 30 pro.
Same thing happened to me. What i did was reset phone update to the firmware and after that it went back to normal. For some reason it stopped working after i used the app phone clone tranffering old apps from my old mate 10. Hope it helps...
Same with me on my Mate 30 Pro 5G chuna version
Manage launch already set manuall and auto launch, secondary launch and keep running background all is ON..but same no notif
Yes..same in here too..mate 30 pro 5G china
All launch manually,it means run background, auto start always on..but still no luck..after 5 mins idle..no notif.
But my fren have it with global rom,and it work normally
No lock apps
I wonder if the reasons behind this problem are also the reason behind 'alarms' not going off sometimes. For example, I have an app called 'Alarm Clock Radio', and it seems like it needs to be the 'front' app for the alarm to remain set overnight? It seems to work just fine if I 'test' it by setting alarms in the near future, but it rarely lasts overnight. This app adds a notification when it has an alarm set, but that is sometimes not there and that seems to be coincident with the alarm not working...
oh, and also Accubattery, that is supposed to alert you when the charge gets to a certain level, but sometimes doesn't....

I made the changes to the 'Battery optimisation', so that the apps that I want to run long term, for whatever reason, aren't 'killed'...ie set to "Don't allow - May drain your battery more quickly"; but they still don't last until the next morning. I would have thought that apps like 'Alarm clock radio' would set some kind of system alarm that would launch the radio app, rather than have to have the app running continuously.
I ran the app Push Notification Tester and it comes back with error after 4 tests. Not registered for push notifications. It doesn’t matter if you change settings or not you don’t receive push notifications. Weird because I get normal SMS and WhatsApp just fine!

I think it has to do with the Mate 30 Pro not being registered with google and because so many apps as made for the google services, you can’t get Push Notifications to work 100%
All apps that reply on play service to send push notifications wont work you cant pass all the test.

Indeed. My question is do all apps on Google Android require GMS to send Push Notifications?
I ask because I know that not only Google run the notification services, but do they all use the GMSes on Google Android phones, or can phones have multiple on-device services to consolidate communications with cloud-based push notification services?
Can, eg, a Pixel phone, also install Huawei Managed Services?

Apps like the whatsapp, messenger, viber etc still work. Apps that work perfectly before you install the GMS will receive push notifications. Because they dont rely on the play service.

Exactly, I realised after installing GMS on Mate 30 Pro that push notification on Gmail, Outlook and most apps are not working. Instant messaging, social media and messenger are working just okay with or without GMS.
I just installed GMS on my mate30 pro, everything works well, just push notification is not working.
I ran the tester and there is a error of registration error of push notification.
How to fix this?
