SIM not being detected after calling once on stock firmware - General Questions and Answers

I have rooted my phone (A315G XSA) previously with magisk, it was using an android 11 firmware version, now that android 12 has released in my region I have tried to flash the stock files using odin, after it is done it allows me to set up normally but as soon as I end a call it will no longer detect either of the SIM cards.
I have tried NAND erase and a pit remap but they have not helped at all.

Factory resetting the phone after it no longer detects the sim allows it to make or receive one call
Backing up the efs and the sec_efs partitions and then restoring them after the sim cannot be found does not work either

Z3 d6603 Invalid card after downgrading firmware

I send my unlocked and rooted Z3 to the sony repair center. They sent it back unrooted and updated to the latest bell firmware, I didn't check if my SIM worked or not at this point as I had a nandroid backup that I made before sending it in in case they decided to reset everything.
Steps:
Used flashtool to downgrade.
- downgraded phone with D6603_23.0.A.2.93 ftf on the XDA thread, first time bootloop due to drivers I think, reinstalled drivers and second time worked fine.
- ran giofroot exploit. used v3.1
- mounted /system rw with ES Explorer.
- installed Z3 Dualrecovery for locked BL.
Tried to restore my nandroid backup through recovery, system restored ok but got error 255 when restoring data. Bootloops when I tried to turn it on.
Flashed a clean build prerooted 23.4.A.1.232
This is where I noticed the SIM gets an invalid card message. Checked service menu for sim lock
it reads [ ] network 0 so it seems to me like SIM lock is not the problem.
At this point I tried downgrading using flashtool again to start from the beginning but it hasn't worked. Googled this problem but there was no definitive solution in any posts that I have encountered.
Anyone have a clue on what to do? Should I try to update firmware with PC companion and hope it fixes it?

I tried to put in a sim card from the original carrier however that did not work either. Anyone have any ideas what I should do? Phone IS detectable in flash mode, are there some options I can try?

So assuming something got messed up while restoring backup, it should be able to be remedied by flashing, correct?
Yeah, flash a FTF and wipe appslog and cache and boot without doing anything and see if SIM works

If anyone finds this thread later in search, I figured out why this happened to me.
When the repair center sent back my phone, it re-sim locked my phone, I needed to put in my simcard to get the sim unlock prompt and enter my unlock code again before I started downgrading firmware and rooting etc.
I ended up sending it back to repair center and they reset the firmware back to normal - I assume they have more robust repair tools than I do. Thanks everyone for the help.

I have really made a mess trying to fix it myself.
I will write the current status and at the bottom what I've tried so you can skip

now the sim card works in other phones and when I remove it the device registers it is SIM CARD REMOVED but when I put it back in nothing happpens, and mobile networks settings is gone
*I started in stock 5.1.1 (MADE NANDROID BACKUP OF EVERYTHING INCLUDING EFS) and flashed twrp via odin > (everything still working)
*flashed XtreStoLite 2.4 (5.1.1) via twrp > (everything still working)
after several months
*flashed new 6.0.1 bootloader and modem via odin and tried to flash XtreStoLite 3.0 (6.0.1) via twrp > got stuck in bootloop...
*used smart switch to go back to stock 6.0.1> Everthing was OK until about a month later the phone suddenly restarted and doesn't recognize the sim card
* I tried factory reset
* I tried samsung but they gave it back saying I've tripped my knox flag
*I flashed 6.0.1 XtreStoLite bootloader, modem and TWRP again via odin
*I flashed XteStoLite 3.3.1 (6.0.1)
*I tried restoring from the first nandroid (stock 5.1.1 from the begining) and got stuck in bootloop again.
*reflashed XtreStoLite 3.3.1 (6.0.1) and tried restoring only the efs. still doesn't work.

I saw some threads talking about octoplus box but I still have my efs Backed up my and SN and IMEI still show up.
Please help me I am here I am willing to learn and search online. I've tried everything i've found online.
Hi.
Try to use Smart Switch > Software Update and Initialization to recover your firmware, hopefully you get your network back.
Tell me what happens, gl.
Sent from my SM-G920F using XDA-Developers mobile app
almost same thing on a long thread here, no solution so far:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/g920f-network-issues-t3291903
I am seriously considering it could be sim reader issue, or some cold solder somwhere on mbo.
My IMEI was also showing in settigs, but when dialed *#0011#, in stack 1, there was "IMEI NG", after write cert operation via octoplus, it says IMEI OK now, but NO SIM, and no mobile networks menu still.
Same like you SIM is detected when inserted or removed, and phone offers restart to access mobile networks, but after restart nothing changes, KNOX tripped by previous owner, phone was in three 3rd party repair shops, where they made even bigger mess than it was, when I brought it to them.
i had the same issue when i upgraded to mm so i sent to shop they had to downgrade it to 5.1.1 and use octobox to fix it
Thanks for replying Legend.
But even though I did the software Initialization in smart switch once before it is not working for me now.
I've tried twenty time while reinstalling and restarting the pc I even tried a different pc I get the same error message every time. "failed to run firmware upgrade unknown error occurred".
any other thing to try?
you could try to restore that backup you have, from when everything worked and then flash 5.1.1. bootloader and modem for that csc via odin before rebooting
According to Smart Switch with your sn it is ILO so you need 5.1.1 bootloader and modem from ILO 4 file fw package.
*I just managed to flash stock 6.0.1 via odin (even though It failed at hidden.img... it boots normally) still no sim card tough.
*I realized that maybe all of this happened because when I flashed stock via smart switch for the first time I didn't have my original s/n so I put one from the internet and it wasn't my region.
meaning I flashed stock of UK and it still worked for a month or so, so that's weird...
*Thank you brenner that is a good idea and I will try now
question how do I extract the bootloader and modem out of the fw? I just open the tar archive and take the boot.img and modem.bin files and flash them as is?
nvm found a guide

There are .tar-s which are single file, and 4 files, the ones with 4 files has separate bl/modem
btw, isnt sn written on back of the phone, along with IMEI?
OK, I've flashed the nandroid stock 5.1.1 (LMY47X.G920FXXU3COJ1) and its bootloader and modem from sammobile.. still doesn't work!!
How can this be? everthing is EXACTLY the way it was when it was working!
and no, my model at least doesn't have the S/N and IMEI written at the back, and I didn't keep the box
any other suggestion anyone?
*also there are so many post in subject if I ever find a solution I will make a guide.
-bump-
still no solution..
I've flashed back to current stock ILO...
Meanwhile looking for a lab with octoplus box, still would love solving this at home
At home or not, I would like to solve it too
Bought a second hand S6 the other day and was working perfectly fine until I carried out the update. Now on 6.0.1 and am getting the exact same problem, my SIM works in every other phone. Has anyone found a solution for this?
Not that I know of, except hw replacement, which cost as a used phone with 1+ years of warranty (6 months warranty on motherboard after replacement, on motherboard only)
But I am willing to donate to whoever finds a solution for it.
No i think your problem is a S/W problem, i have 2 G920F with this problem, one of them is 3 binary and another is 4 binary FW, now i work on it if i can solve this problem i told you here.

Galaxy S6 can only recognise one SIM card, Modem and EFS borked no IMEI

I broke my G920F modem and EFS. Going through the threads I found somewhere it said I should make a backup and restore it. If I restore a backup I made after breaking it, only one SIM card works in the phone. Any other SIM card says "No SIM card" but when I remove the SIM tray the phone prompts for a restart.
Flashing stock firmware causes the phone to lose IMEI and it won't connect to mobile networks. It can, however, detect the SIM card. Once I restore the EFS/IMEI folder it reverts to not detecting SIM cards.
If someone can provide a solution to this problem? Or if you could provide a TWRP modem/efs/radio backup that I can restore onto the phone via recovery.
Currently running Android 7

Question When I ROOT, I unblock BOOTLOADER, the connection to the network is blocked.

When I ROOT, I unblock BOOTLOADER, the connection to the network is blocked: /
Bootloader unlocked = connection blocking

Prior to root it you had to unlock the bootloader, the network locked is a different thing.

Did u network unlock before hand?
I solved the problem.
Flashing new firmware must be done with the SIM card (s) in the ports.
Otherwise, during the first telephone connection (not data transmission), the SIM port will be blocked.
It is possible that this is because I changed the CSC codes from branded to XEO.
I will write it again - you upload new firmware, there must be cards / SIM cards in the ports.
I wrote it via Google Translator
I would like to add that when we want to quickly get rid of the PRELOAD state, we need to upload the previous Andorid version 10. This will change the Preload state to Checking.
Hi all,
Same problem, unfortunately not resolved by flashing with the card in place.
Basically after flash (even though I reverted to the original firmware after previous root) the phone can connect to the mobile network.
But after the first call (if the bootloader is unlocked) it looses the connection and says "no SIM Card".
So I cannot root or anything as it results in a loss of phone, messages and mobile data...
Any idea how to prevent this 'SIM lock'?
EDIT:
This now also happens after returning to stock and locking bootloader and oem.
Tried different sim cards, same result...
i'm having the same problem.
Anyone resolved this?
Same problem here.
What worked for me was this:
SIM/Baseband/IMEI errors since Tuesday 17th
I'm getting a problem where everytime I try to call someone or I receive a call, my SIM cards become undetected, the phone crashes after a short time and then doesn't detect SIM cards again, and Samsung or Google backups stop working, and all...

Important bit is not just flashing AP in Odin, but also all the other bits (BL, CP, CSC) from the firmware. I did not need the pit file at all.
Flashing just the AP did not fix the issue but flashing all parts of the firmware helped. Hence I was wondering about the modem...
After flashing completely back to stock, I repeated the rooting process and it's working fine now (using the same firmware AP file but with the boot.img from Magisk).

IMEI is gone after first call

I have very weird case. I have upgraded my phone (Smasung Galaxy A31 - dual sim) to Android 12. I did factory reset and cleared all data.
Now, when I configure phone from scratch, everything is OK until I make a call. I can call anybody and I can talk how long I want (after last test It was more than 2 minutes). As soon I end up the call both IMEIs in my phone are gone, phone shows "service unavailable", In the phone settings I can see "IMEI 1: Unknown" "IMEI 2: Unknown" and of course I'm not able to do any other call. Reset of the phone do not help at all.
All I can do in this case is Factory Reset - after that again I can make only one call and IMEIs are gone.
I have observed such behavior sometime ago. I thought it was some ROM issue, so I've flashed previous one (with Android 11) and phone was working fine. Unfortunately I didn't notice that recently Samsung has changed binary version of the firmware and now I'm doomed - I cannot flash old firmware anymore and there are no custom roms for my phone model.
I have rooted the phone and I've tried several tools to force IMEI but none is working for me.
I have no NVRAM backup. As I read the problem may be located there - but if so, then why I can do one call at all?
What could be the cause of such weird behavior?
Do a Google search for "restore-imei-number-after-an-nvram-clear": Dozens findings ...
So also this one:
[GUIDE] Restore IMEI number after an NVRAM clear
This thread will go over restoring the IMEI number if you cleared the NVRAM (or fully formatted your phone). The official tool to use is the SN Writer tool from Mediatek but as the P60 processor is not compatible with that, I had to search for...

@xXx yYy
I didn't clear NVRAM. I mean at least I'm not aware of it. Correct me if I'm wrong but if NVRAM is cleared/broken I shouldn't be able to do ANY call, right?
And as I wrote, I already observed such issue on my phone long time before and then the solution was to downgrade ROM to previous version and phone was working fine - so I assume that NVRAM is ok, right? I cannot dowgrade it now due to changed Binary Version
I'm struggling with this issue since last two weeks and I also wanted to verify if my NVRAM is fine. But I cannot turn my phone into Meta Mode. Do Samsung devices have it at all? (Samsung Galaxy A31 dual sim)
My phone is rooted and have TWRP flashed:
Can I somehow access NVRAM from TWRP and check what is going on there?
Can I somehow access NVRAM from Magisk (modules) / LSPosed and check what is going on there?
IDK. Reason: Have neither TWRP nor Magisk ever installed on any of my phones.
I have found some workaround for this issue here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fixed-rooted-a325m-suddenly-no-imei-no-sim.4386753/post-86588571
After applying it, there is still some glitch (it looks internal modem restarts after each call and I'm getting some notification about that) but at least I'm able to do calls without Factory Reset.
