Update for Eonon GA2178 - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi,
I'm looking to update the android version on this head unit to 10. It's on 9 right now.
I don't think i want to go to 11 because they said something about the Netflix app not working or something.
I just updated the firmware but it did nothing to change the look of it. I'm uploading some pics with more information about all the specific current build stuff.
Thanks

It's an MTCD/variant device. Head over to MTCD forums, this question is well covered so you should find the info there.

Ok will do thanks

Ok it looks like this was moved and the other thread was deleted. Hopefully someone can still answer this thread even though everything that was answered makes no sense to somebody who would just be walking into the thread

[Q] Galaxy S Froyo, last day of September

Well we are now on the last day of September and it looks like we are going to roll into October before we get any official 2.2 update.
Unless its coming later today which I doubt very much, the waiting game continues.....
Anyone heard any new information on this?

Really useful info right there.
He is right though.

They may be better informed over in that section.
On a more useful note, I read something about it being delayed until mid/late octover today, but then, I don't believe everything I read on tthe internet....

Best way to update my Galaxy Tab 7.7???

I've been overjoyed with my Galaxy Tab 7.7 ever since I've had it but since there aren't going to be any further Android updates after 4.0.4 I've started to notice the odd app isn't going to work so I'm assuming that I'm going to need to look at rooting in order to get the latest apps to work??
I've only dabbled with rooting a couple of times with my very old HTC Desire due to it's ridiculously small internal memory and so I really don't know where to start with the 7.7!
Can someone give me some pointers on which ROM to look at and ideally a half-wit's guide to show me how to do it?
You could start by reading the information already available.
Given your tablet is untouched all of the old information is accurate for you. The forum has sticky posts top make finding info easy, yet you managed to miss them.
We're not here to do your research for you.
Start with the first post here and then read the information provided. Some of the images are missing in some of the posts now but the instructions are still there.

Thanks for the condescending reply.
I had looked at a few of the dozen or so sticky's but wasn't quite sure where to start or what applied to my particular situation, hence the post asking for some pointers.
It would appear I was mistaken that this was a forum (ie. people posting questions, information and general musings) so I honestly didn't think I'd offend anyone by asking for a shortcut! (my most sincere apologies as it appears that I've really touched a nerve!)
I'll find what I need myself, thanks for the gentle shove!
Try this custom L rom buddy. It seems to be fairly stable for me.

Update on future
I wonder if there will be update in to 6.0
It is really not that hard to peek in Developers forum for our device - [ROM][MMB29T][GalaxyTab7.7|Plus][22Jan2016 CM-13.0]Android Marshmallow ROMs. You are welcome.

Is Android LP rooted for this phone yet?

I just got my Note 5 this afternoon, not a single one of my credit or debit cards will work with Samsung Pay and since I am with USAA it may be a while before it does, as such the itch to root is even stronger now.
Has the latest OTA been rooted yet? I am currently still on 5.1.1 but I am getting the notification for an update.
Would it be wise to update or should I wait a bit longer?
In other words has unlock and root been achieved on the newest OTA yet?

Please browse the forum. Your answers are literally a click away. Heck you can even Google "root tmobile note 5," and it'll bring you right back to xda.

I didn't ask if it could be rooted.
I asked if MM had been rooted or if it was only LP at this time, as all I see in the development forum are 5.1.1 roms and kernels.
This is why I asked the question the way I did.
There is a very good reason that XDA has the reputation of being a bad place to go if you have questions, and your response is part of that problem.
The Q&A forum is for precisely these style questions.
Now, seeing as how I did not ask how to root the device as there are plenty of threads on that, would you care to take a stab at answering my actual question.
I won't be mad at a link to a thread which answers the question I asked.
Just do this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3187422
Looks like this when done right
And again, note that the link and the screenshot is for LP, I am asking if MM has been rooted yet.
Though I do very much appreciate the response.

First of all you never stated anything about mm in your original post. Secondly note 5 is still on lp. The only thing you stated is if the latest Ota has been rooted, and the latest Ota is lp and yes it has been rooted so there is your answer.

Its all good. I won't go there with this one. The back and forth isn't worth it. You should also probably edit your post!
MM Beta is rootable. Go to the development section to find out the pros and cons of using the beta. I advise you to stay on LP. There's only the stock rooted beta kernel available for MM. There's a lot of cons to being on it, so please keep that in mind is you decide to flash it.
See how much help I still gave you without actually posting a link? Not trying to be a **** but if we soon feed the work, the work wouldn't know how to feed itself. I started off as the wise noob ever, and bricked phones. If I had only taken the time to Google and research, those devices being bricked could have been avoided.

Jammol,
I realise in my first post I did not give names as I had thought I had. This is why upon re-reading it I apologized as my original question wasn't clear.
Thank you for the follow up.
In any question thread the answer should be clear, even if it is simply a link to another post, in this way those coming here in the future can follow the link rather than seeing a simple "nevermind I figured it out" and my post being the only response to their search. Please note, I did not say you had to provide a link, just said that even if your answer was simply a link to where I could find the answer that would be fine as well.
Note I did search, but as I was looking for MM ROMS I could not find anything, I was under the mistaken impression that MM was on the device. This is where I erred and why I could not find anymore information.
For all future folks taking a look at this thread, as of today MM is not available on the Note5 and the newest OTA (as of today) has already been rooted and you can find a number of ROMS in the development section.

Honest question for you.
After reading the thread, seeing where I had apologized and seeing that the issues was solved and the back and forth was done, what compelled you to respond in such a negative manner?
You end your statement with "smh" which I can only assume stands for "so much hate" as it is currently used.
So why bother? You see the thread is resolved, you see the question has been answered but then you just felt this need to respond?

Smh means shaking my head. And it doesn't matter if it was resolved, you got all upset that none of us took the time to GOOGLE or FORUM SEARCH for you, when you could have easily done that yourself. The sense of entitlement was pretty thick.
And again, if you had actually bothered to read I state that I did search but was under the mistaken impression that this phone had an update to MM when it had not, hence the reason I could not find anything when searching for MM ROM's, this is why I asked.
So your assertion, especially after I had already stated I did, that I didn't search is completely unfounded.
The issue I took was with a response that boiled down to "do your own research as this help forum isn't here to help you".
This is an issue at XDA and why XDA is universally made fun of and considered a bad place to go if you have questions that haven't been answered, because a bunch of folks will respond with vitriol without bothering to read the rest of the posts.
For instance, the best answer was already given, but it would have hurt nothing for Jamool to have said:
"The latest OTA update is currently LP and that has been rooted, you can find multiple roms in the development section of the forum, here is a link (link). And in the future make sure to make use of that search button."
At which point I would have realised that I was mistaken on the idea that the Note5 has Marshmallow already and that would have been the end of the conversation.
Now, can we consider this matter closed otr would you like to once again respond and tell me how I didn't bother to search?
P.S. I cannot be the only one that has noticed that the search function seems to stop working at 11pm EST am I?

Where you on N920TUVS2COKC when you got it? If so how did you root it. I got mines today & dont see any updates available. Also the space kernel has been pulled.

I did google, and as I said already. I was wrong.
I guess you really don't bother to read previous posts.
How dare I post a question in a question and answer forum specific to my question.

I haven't rooted yet, I am holding out hope that usaa gets Samsung pay setup soon.
I was having a bad day , then I read this.

BT OBD2\5.1.1\MTCD Issues--

Well, I think i've annoyed enough people on enough threads to decide to make one dedicated to this issue.
I ordered this product:
http://xtrons.com/pf75m211a-7-andro...irroring-function-obd2-for-mercedes-benz.html
Came with this Firmware: MTCD_GS_V1.49_1 Apr 28th 2016
Torque\Dash Command fail miserably, both applications indicate that bluetooth is NOT ON. They attempt to turn it on only to freeze forever.
I updated the MCU to MTCD_GS_V1.61_1 May 31 2016
Also rooted and installed Malaysk V4 rom.
Still no luck.
I've sent a barrage of emails to the seller both on Ebay and through their official contact info on their site, still no luck.
What steps do we need to take to get this addressed?
To the DEVS, has the issue been identified in code? Is it a inherent problem in hardware or is it ROM related\MCU related?
Would love some answers, I know i'm not the only one experiencing this, plus it would help me determine if I should return this altogether if no FIX is possible...

This has already been identified in several posts on both this forum as well as manufacturer forums such as forum.carjoying.com
It would appear you did not search before you asked this question. Short answer, its an issue specific to MTCD based units that has already been reported to the manufacturer devs, as well as to Malaysk for his custom ROM, its not an easy fix, they are trying their best to resolve it.

I did see that as well @ Malaysk is aware.
I just don't see any consolidated place where this information is at. There should be a dedicated thread for such a inherent problem with MTCD units.
I have no checked out the forum.carjoying.com, have any links for me to check out?
Also, this is crucial for me because I only have 3 weeks left to return the unit.
As I said, you didn't search. There is already a dedicated thread for this problem here on XDA and in the MTCD section. Yours is redundant.

Question Carlink not showing in 1080p on joying auto

Hope someone can help my joying headunit is only showing in 720p so not widescreen or anything
Shows though headunit reloaded correctly in widescreen and 1080p just wondering if anyone has a fix or a custom carlink apk
Unfortunately, the forum crystal ball doesnt know what you unit is and from the hundreds of made up models and brands, the seller could be selling units of different types, from different factories, despite branding with the same model name.
There are are a small number of active members in these forums, you want to be posting in a way that helps those people help you, they're likely tired of answering the same questions for new users that join, get the answer (often unanswered) and then leave.
Post screenshots from Android system information, including the MCU version when posting questions. Doing this will at least help others help you, or you might find the information has already been posted or discussed here, yourself.
I have a joyingauto 7862 10.1 1920*1200 unit can post a screenshot of the the device info and also what it looks like though carlink app
I'm used to an android ai box only just switched over to the full headunit
Tried searching but couldn't see anywhere
