I have BBC iPlayer version 0.4.5 installed on Android TV (Sony TV) and recently it works for 5 minutes and then puts the TV in screen saver mode. I have to press the back button to continue watching. Anyone experience this issue?
Also, I looked if there was a new version and found version 0.4.7-Dev, not sure if this a legit version and what the "-Dev" means.
YES!
I contacted them and of course they put minimal effort into their non existent investigation. They told me to reset my TV and Chromecast.
I told them I wasn't having any issues at with any other apps I use.

I saw a post on reddit where the solution is to either disable the screensaver or set it to a long time before screensaver is activated.

That's no solution, only a mitigation. Something like keeping the CPU awake in a TV viewing app should be a no-brainer for an app developer.
I would e-mail and complain to the developer, stating the problem, the device on which you are running the app, and any other details that are pertinent.

This is easier said than done.
I've been trying to find contact information for the developer but I'm not having much luck.
The provider is "BBC Media Applications Technologies Limited"

Hi,
Is it possible to have an app that could turn the screen on and off according to the charging status? If it's plugged into a power source and charging the tablet would go on (turn on the screen/slide) and possibly resume play (music/video).
When the power source is removed, it would have an option to automatically pause current playing music/video and then turn off the display.
This is the reason: I'd like to install a cheap android tablet as a headrest source of entertainment. I would have wifi available, and perhaps even a computer working as a media server. But each passenger row would have a tablet in the front headrest, but I wouldn't want to leave them on, nor having to turn each off when I left the car.
I think there was a recent article on Engaget that showed buses in India that had tablets on the front headrests. You could check the weather, make reservation, watch news, movies, clips, cartoons, etc. The cheap China made tablets were embeded in the headrests and they were not be removable.
Any ideas if this is at all possible?
Thanks.
Have you ever tried/heard of an app named "Tasker"? I don't have any first hand experience with the app but I know sites like Lifehacker and Engadget have posted articles about the possibilities of the app. I understand that it is technical, so you should do your research first by checking the app website to see if this is feasible. It is in the Market, you could read reviews there as well if that suits you.

Hi, I've been trying to find a decent IRC app for wp7. Sadly no luck to date. There's a number of fairly great ones in the marketplace - WPirc looks great and most of the time works great as well.
But it has one problem that I've currently noticed in all other apps. It doesn't have a background agent so when I switch out of it, it automatically disconnects me from the network I'm on. Same thing when the lockscreen goes over it.
Does anyone know an IRC app, even paid, that doesn't do this? Not talking about disconnecting on the lockscreen if connection over wifi. Just disconnecting when not in focus.
No luck on this one
Unfortunately, the current 'Mango' version of Windows Phone does not allow 'true' background processes to give you real time updates of anything. So don't expect anything like you are asking to appear in the marketplace soon.
The best any developer can do at this moment is to create an app that checks for new messages every 30 minutes for a very brief time. And even then, the app is only allowed to give you a small toast message, but never open (or put in focus) the application by itself.
Well, it is permissible for apps to continue running under the lock screen (although MS is very strict about when they allow an app to use that permission, I think chat apps qualify). Real background processing is actually possible - the phone runs a fully multitasking OS - but the official APIs don't allow it.

Yes, but to stay on-topic I read the question as 'Are there any apps in the marketplace that allow me to run IRC in the background, supporting multitasking (staying connected) even if I use other apps'. From that perspective the answer is unfortunately no.
You can use ZNC and keep a persistent connection going on a remote computer, which will save and replay the conversation when you lose connection. You can also couple SuperToasty with the ZNCPush plugin I've forked at github (I have to update my branch and poke the dev to pull the fork.) to push alert you when someone mentions you, PM's you etc.
Any of the IRC clients in the market should work fine with this setup... though, I haven't tried.
With the apple watch release, comes the hoards of apple enthusiasts taking the crap out of android wear products!

Say turn on the computer with autowear+Tasker, or start playing spotify music, read reddit posts on the go (they probably have that too...) create or download your own watchfaces(!!!)

I THINK it replaces the voice typing as default but I am not sure.
This isn't particularly a 'feature' or a cool app or whatever, but I found that the Google Music app was surprisingly useful at locating my phone. I couldn't find my phone in my room one time, so I used Wear's Google Music app to make my phone play random music to help me find it. Sorry if it's a bit of a lame contribution but at the time it was quite a big help

I found that answering a call on my watch also starts my music on my phone.
Custom Voice Commands by Treycent lets you tag photos with a voice commands that you can then share. This lets you and your friends load photos by just speaking a question or phrase (e.g. "show me Hanna's latest selfie"). It also lets you post messages to WhatsApp and Twitter by voice.
Toggles wear
swipify
wear volume
my car location
and showear
My LG urbane use changes dramatically with these apps.
Instaweather is the only must have app I have.
No other watch face shows me time, POP, weather radar, both batteries, temp, temp forecast, sun set, sunrise at a glance and now the even added support for Google Fit.
Top two apps on my watch are:
Google Keep - Notes (shoppinglist, todo) on the go
Remote Control Collection - Controlling my PC (presentations, media) from my wrist

I have a Raspberry PI for home automation and with WearTasker I can control basic TV, satellite, HiFi, Light,... functions. Also I have a task to start Spotify on my tablet, powers on the HiFi and connects to it via BT.
But it seems like AutoWear has more possibilities so I will maybe switch to that.
I have my G Watch R since 3 days, so I'm quite a newbie and WearTasker is easy to set up.

Okay, so the most WOW inducing app I have found is Look Behind. It turns on your camera and allows you to view it on your watch screen. When I demo it for people, they frickin' love it. I got it for work, I'm tech support at a university library, and am always having to look behind computers, wall mounted displays, etc. It has the ability to turn your flash on, so looking behind a TV screen to check connections becomes a easy task. Its pretty awesome.

Honestly, it doesn't even allow you to take pictures. I will say I have tried both and i like the interface of Look Behind a bit better (on my round watchface) and it seems to work more reliably than Wear Camera. I had a few hangups when I tried Wear Camera. That said, while Look Behind is free, to get the version that allows you to take pictures, PixtoCam, it costs 1.99. Either way, an app that lets you view your phone camera on your watch will definitely get peoples interest.
Hi, just wondering if there is anything that can be done about this? I have a Samsung S7 and when I turn the screen off with background play enabled there is a 1 or 2 second pause before the audio continues. Oddly enough I've noticed this is something that afflicts other players with background play abilities as well. The only player I have that doesn't have this pause is podcast addict (it can play videos too). Anyway, it's not the biggest deal in the world but I would classify it under slightly annoying, especially when I feel the need to turn the screen on and off frequently for whatever reason.
Come to think of it... I wonder if podcast addict is buffering and that's why it doesn't run into this problem? Could be. Anyway... any tips, hints, suggestions? If this is an easy fix that would be awesome.

No, It's not like that. Infact the pause is intentionally done by the developer to avoid issues on many device while detaching the video surface. It was not there in 1.7.x. but, introduced later on latest 1.8.x as a fix.

Thanks for the info. From your answer it sounds like havoc ensues when turning the screen off on some devices. I wonder if the developer would be willing to create an "advanced" setting or something that could control this behavior?
Same issue here. I rely on this feature to help me go to sleep. The starting and stopping is very annoying.

hello, in https://community.teamviewer.com/English/kb/articles/98985-android-host and then https://community.teamviewer.com/En...rers-for-remotely-controlling-android-devices, are they saying Google pixel phones are not available for unattended remote control using the Host app? I had thought it would have worked to show Android superiority over iOS. I guess I was wrong. Thx. Need to help parents control their P7P. If this just doesn't work, it gives me greater incentive to switch back to iPhone 15 pro max and Apple Watch. For example, also learnt Pixel Watch doesn't support fall detection in unsupported countries.

I got it working for my device, but I also had to install an add-on to control as well as enable it in Accessibility to get things to properly work....
I'm working off of a rough memory, so I may be missing some steps, but this is what I remember and have gotten to make it work...
Also -- I just checked right now -- I did not use the "host" app to get it working...

So....you're going to switch your parents back to an iPhone 15 pro max (because it's their device that isn't working with Teamviewer host)?
Or you're looking for an incentive to switch, yourself, because (maybe among other things) the Pixel 7 can't do a single app like Teamviewer host (yet, for all we know)?
If that's the case, I hope you enjoy your iPhone 15 pro max so you can run Teamviewer host then....
My late father, would go to bed EVERY night by 9pm...something he did since I was a kid.
(Of course he got up at 5am and make all sorts of noise, but that's another story).
I was his "computer" mechanic, so every once in a while I would remote into his computer
to do housekeeping. Make sure the recycle bin was empty, update software etc.
One night, around 9:30, I remoted into his PC, opened up his browser, and it closed in a couple
seconds. His internet connection sometimes wasn't the greatest, so I figured I closed it.
Opened it again, and it closed again...THEN the phone rang. He said his computer was acting
up. So I played along. Oh really? Yes! Programs are opening by themselves, I close them and
they open again. After laughing I told him what I was doing. His answer was ok smarta**!
I started laughing again and said it was after 9pm, what are you doing up?
(He was big into vinyl records, big band recordings and was always making tapes for peope)
He was taping something and was still up.
After that encounter, I would wait until around 11pm on Friday...I knew he wouldn't be up at
that hour!

I am saying iPhone iOS is even worse regarding the limitations because in attended mode, iOS still can't control upon confirmation by the guest. However, given unattended is not achieveable at all with pixel 7 pro, or even upcoming 8 series, I am thinking to abandon Android
