Question Super Fast Car Charger? - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Is it me or are there a total lack of 45w+ PPS car chargers? I have the Samsung one, and it charges great, but the USB-C port is so loose and comes out constantly... Any recommendations on wired super fast chargers?

One of these two should work:

Neither of those are car chargers. Those are wall outlet chargers.

Keep in mind, your car has to be able to push that much wattage through the 12V electrical socket.

I bought one here.
And yes it is original

To be honest. I use a wireless charger from iOttie and it works well.
Auto Sense Dash & Windshield Mount - iOttie Car Mounts
The Auto Sense Dash & Windshield Mount is an advanced automatic clamping, wireless charging car mount designed for dashboard mounting.
www.iottie.com
It saves wear and tear on the USB port and it has enough juice to charge while I'm using Waze or Google Maps as well as play music.
My car is not Android Auto compatible (it's a 2014), so I can't speak to that.

It's not a45W charger but my S22 Ultra recognizes it as super fast charger. And charges really fast.
This is from AliExpress.

This is the one I originally had. Does your USB c cable come loose super easy? I was weary of buying this one again because every time I hit a bump the cable comes loose.

Usual Car charger vs. USB Car Charger

It is not a secret, that charging over data cable is slower, rather than over electrical plug. I think it is due to USB max current is 500mAh, while my direct charger output in 1000 mAh.
I wondering if the same is relevant to car chargers. I'm having the one of so-called USB Car Chargers, which has the USB plug as output, than you connect it to your phone thru the data cable.
If I buy a usual mini-usb car charger, would I get any benefits in charging speed?
Thanks.
usb max current is 500ma on the spec, you can draw much more than that over the copper.. as long as it's not being regulated by "compliant" circuitry/drivers, you should be able to draw 1000ma
Ive been looking into this tonight, and I checked my GF's iPhone wall charger (which is basically a wall USB charger) and it outputs 1000ma as well, and ive found a few usb car chargers putting out 700, 800, and even over 1000ma... only problem i have is i need it to be compact... i currently have a 500ma one in the car but that didnt seem to really charge the phone...

The reason I am asking is similar:
When I am driving with gps and 3G turned on my phone is never fully charged. In fact, it seems it even uncharging a bit. I am wondering if the same happening with usual mini-usb car charger.
And if I want to buy new on ebay, they never specify the mAh parameter.
I bought a 1000mAh USB car charger for a couple bucks at monoprice.com.

Anyone know if there are any devices like this that has 900mA output (or know what output the linked one has)? Seems that's the minimum needed to charge the Charge via USB. My current one rated at 700mA does nothing when plugged in the Charge.
My friend has one something like this and I was using it for my Charge and it worked fairly well. I am not sure if it is the same one but they look the same size, I just used the usb that came with the charge to plug into it and it worked. It also works well with his iphone 4 if that helps at all.

IDK....I'll find out I guess...I ordered it.
I just ordered 2 off of eBay. Will see how they work.

I ordered this one, if it doesn't work or isn't small enough I will prob try the $2 one from eBay. Thanks for all the suggestions.
I bought a dual usb car charger (it has 2 usb ports) that says its for ipads or tablets, and supplies 2A. It does seem to charge faster than my other car chargers, but I think it also triggers USB mass storage mode, because apps stored on the SD card aren't usable when its plugged into this. Is this because of the USB cable i'm using (a generic USB to micro usb cable)? or is it because of the charger?
this is the charger - although Amazon's pictures don't exactly match - the one customer supplied picture does, though.

I'm not interested in the usb plug kind. I'm looking for wall and car chargers that aren't usb and just charge (hope that makes sense).
Thanks.

You dont have to have a modded cable if your car charger already has the data pins shorted. Im using the motorola rapid charger too and it works fine, it will charge your phone as AC and give enough power to recharge the battery with navigation on. if you want something a bit better you can try this one , they ship to canada. My rapid charger broke so i bought it a few days ago. Reviews says the trident will give around 8-900mA, the moto charger outputs around 6-700mA.
I would only buy a premium brand here. If you see how no name mains adaptors are made... the risk of blowing up something expensive is just too big.
I wnent with the Sony AN-400 / 401, because it is rated at 1.2 amps exactly, is small, and was reported to work fine.
For some regulator disasters:
http://hackaday.com/2012/08/15/buying-cheaper-electronics-and-not-saving-money/ <- a USB car charger without components, putting 12 volts straight on USB.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi-b9k-0KfE <- teardown of imitation apple mains adapter, showing no output protection and very little gap between mains voltage and output circuit. Good info, but style of presentation is not my cup of tea.
So that is why I went with a premium brand.
that's one charger from one factory that some guy that didnt know what he was doing and ordered thousands, without testing them. He probably went for the 25 cent super deluxe model...
Well reviewed chargers from xda members here and not to mention the hundreds of people on amazon are a safe bet. Here's a 8+page thread on the charger i linked. Your premium brand name sony charger is made in china too.

That looks ok,but I cant find a good quality usb charge only cable that ships to canada :
I have a el cheapo usb charger from ebay and I used my usb cable that came with the phone...and when i pluged it in it switches from AC charge to USB ever couple of seconds back and forth...so I want to try something different.
If you're into rooting and custom kernels, most of them have a fastcharge option where you don't need to have a special usb cable, or, attempt to short the D- and D+ lines.

i cant say for sure until i get it sometime next week but i think so. im in canada too and couldnt find the powergen anywhere that would ship here.
There are some other brands that are good too but i like this one cause it's dual usb like my old moto rapid charger. If you dont need that you can get some smaller ones that will work just make sure they are well review and can output around 1A. The one that bfspider spider recommends is a good bet too since monoprice is pretty reputable store and will ship to canada.

You can try to mod this one in the mean time, just take it apart and attach the two data pins(they are the two middle ones). Solder is best but if you cant you can just use pilers and bend the pins until they touch. i did this with a few of my chargers too and it works to make them AC but it wont increase the output if its low to begin with.

FYI, this adapter should allow most existing "iPad" chargers (1.2A or higher) + any USB cable to work well with the Nexus 4.
The problem is that Apple products deviate from USB charging standards. As a result, most chargers try to be compatible with iDevices and also deviate from the standards. So when standard-compliant devices try to follow the standards, the chargers refuse to follow the standards, and the devices get upset with each other. Fortunately, they fall back and settle on a lower-power charging rate.
If you want to buy chargers that are very clear on what they support, check out MediaBridge (also available on Amazon).
Why does a bog standard USB cable work in the car for me? Using a proper off-line sat nav my phone was fully charged

So i got that Trident charger that you recommended....the quality looks good...but when I tried it in the 1A and 2A port with the usb cable that comes with it,it shows USB charging but when I use the HTC usb cable that came with my HTC one S it shows AC charging....its so confusing and I just dont get it....that HTC cable is a sync and charge cable.
The generic T-Mobile car charger available at T-Mobile stores charges just fine. I believe it is at least 1 amp. Its black, has a purple white small led indicator when charging. The USB end looks like a little block and the cord is an accordion type and it also has a a female USB slot in it to plug something else in at the same time but I believe whatever USB cord you plug in there only charges at .5 amp. With this charger I can run navigation and Bluetooth and Pandora and message at the same time and it will charge.
Sent from my often RMA'd Nexus 4, So that I can use the one I'm using now when I get the 6th and hopefully final one.
I just dont get it why does it with one cable show USB charging and with the other HTC cable AC charging?:S

Any FAST wireless car chargers out there ?!

Anyone find a FAST wireless car charger yet? From what I see the Samsung wireless car charger isn't FAST enabled, and it's pretty expensive. I've scoured Amazon and don't see any FAST ones either. I have a non car Choetech one rigged in my car with magnets, but it's an imperfect solution and I'd rather have one made for the car. It's too bad because iOttie has a super nice magnetic one, but it's not FAST charging. Anyone see anything?

It's really odd that there are none on the market, QC 2.0 has been out for a while and I think QC 3.0 is starting to come out. I'll have to Frankenstein a desktop charger then, won't be the first time.

I'm using this one, come with usb c and micro usb for my other phones.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0176HA31U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i am using my qc2.0, it works fine. Sure not 3.0, but charges fast nonetheless.
Just got this one and it shows fast wireless charging on the screen when in use. Tried it with GPS and screen on and it still charges pretty fast. I'm using it right now with the vent mount that also came with it.

Which would make it NOT WIRELESS...
I bought this one:
http://www.qi-infinity.com/collections/wireless-chargers/products/fast-wireless-car-charger
Just used it on a trip. Phone indicated fast charging but with a podcast player over bluetooth and CarHomeUltra running, it seemed to be using power faster than it was charging.
Wish they made one that clips on to the vent.

Missed the word wireless, been up since 2:30AM. My Camry was built in wireless charging but not quick.

Couple good suggestions, anyone think they can be adapted to a CD mount?

See my post and the qi-infinity. They seem to be identical and clip to a vent...
The one I posted comes with a vent clip.

Question Wireless Charger for Car Questions

Which wireless charger do you use for your car and does it fast charge if the cable and charger are the correct rating?
I'm using the Mous magsafe case with the Scosche magsafe mount. It charges at 15w which is good enough for me, however the cable is proprietary, built-in, and super long. The mount wobbles a bit on bumpy roads, but the phone isn't going to fall off.

KKM Wireless Car Charger, 15W Qi Fast Charging Auto-Clamping Wireless Car Charger Mount, Air Vent Dashboard Car Phone Holder Compatible with iPhone 12/12 Pro/12 Pro Max/11/11 Pro Max/X/XS Max/8 Plus https://a.co/d/3ryz3Pn
Been using that one with success so far....my only gripe...the stupid blue led stays on all the time
I use this one from MOKP
Wireless Car Charger, MOKPR... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TC7L3SR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It worked nicely with my P6P.
But the volume switches are covered with the P7P which is annoying.

Are the volume switches covered by the arms of the charger? Do you get 15 watts?

I'm thinking of getting this too. Does it charge the P7P well? Does the holder clamping the volume buttons affect anything? I assume they're not so tight they're triggering the buttons.

How do you release the phone on this one? I can see it says "touch" near the bottom but my concern is that that's near where you would swipe up to go home and you may accidentally touch that part and release the phone when you don't want to.

I get between 7.5 and 10W. Occasionally the volume goes to 0 because the arm hits the button. I just ordered this one as a replacement, KKM Wireless Car Charger, 15W Qi Fast Charging Auto-Clamping Wireless Car Charger Mount, Air Vent Dashboard Car Phone Holder Compatible with iPhone 14 Pro/14 Pro Max/14/14 Plus/13/12/11/X/XS Max https://a.co/d/io5NYMU

Thanks for the feedback. The appeal of the one you had was that it locked on to the air vent.

I bought the KKM charger but only get between 7 and 9 Watts of charging. I tried the included cable and cig lighter adapter (crazy blue lites on it) and a few other combos. All gave me the same result. I will keep using my QC3.0 cig lighter adapter without the crazy blue lites and LED voltage indicator.
I wonder how you get 15W. Are you using a case? I have the caseology case which is pretty thin.
I am happy that my volume buttons are no longer completely covered. It was on sale for $23 on Amazon, so I will be keeping it.
EDIT: The KKM charger is going back to Amazon. Two issues for me. I still use a USB-c wired headset when making phone call. The bottom lip blocks the USB-c port. Second, the touch center to open the arms is not reliable. I was futzing with all afternoon. I am back to using this charger, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09N6Y23WL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

I bought the Iottie auto sense charger, not fast 10 watt, but when I take a drive it will be a long one.
The auto sense makes it fun.

Can you please give us an update on how it works?
I am especially interested in if it interferes with any of the buttons and what kind of wireless charging rate that you get.
Thanks
PS: I see the price for this on eBay is $60 to $80 dollars! That is a high price. And it uses a proprietary cable vs. USB-c.

so after using the huawei car charger for a couple weeks, i am very happy with it. it fast charges and it doesnt disconnect all the time. well at least i havent noticed it disconnecting which is more than i can say for all the other ones ive tried. i approve.
I did get it from ebay though because of that lovely huawei ban #murica, but it's worth it. i lucked out and found a shipper in the US so it didnt take long to arrive but while remembering the model number i found a couple newegg listings now. just one thing to keep in mind that the manuals will be in chinese but that shouldnt be a problem. no need for the manual. another side note, if you do get it...you do not need the usb c to go into the charger and the cigarette lighter. you only need to plug the cigarette lighter into the car and plug it's cable into the charger. you can use the extra usb c port on the cigarette lighter for anything else.
