Question About Kernel Sources - Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G (peux)/POCO X4 Pro 5G (veux)

Hi, people in this forum have constantly been saying "wait for kernel sources after that x, y, z would become better"
however there needs to be some clarification about this so that people can stop saying "wait for kernel sources" when any bugs/glitches are mentioned for this device
I know that people have been hoping that Xiaomi will release kernel sources real soon for this device infact i was one of them but sadly just hoping wouldn't help
The MiCode GitHub account which was responsible for releasing kernel sources for Xiaomi devices has been dead since late 2021
Infact some people could get in contact with the person who used to manage that account and the guy said that he left Xiaomi
and it doesn't seem like Xiaomi will be getting anyone hired soon
I'll attach some proof
I would like to get proven wrong but i don't think we r getting kernel sources anytime soon
I request people in this forum to actually provide a fix for any bug/glitch mentioned instead of just saying "wait for kernel sources" if there is none just mention that there is no fix
Edit: HOLD ON Pissarro just got it's kernel sources released
which is pretty weird since Snapdragon devices usually get their sources quicker than mtk devices?
but hey it's a chinese model and we all know how much Xiaomi loves their chinese community

They did not release snapdragon variant, The Redmi 11E Pro (i think that's what it's called) has been released there but instead of a snapdragon 695 they get a dimensity 920 and a few other quirks and the device codename is Pissarro

I don't know for sure, but the manufacturer is obliged to publish the kernel in order to use open source android code...
but as i say I'm not sure

Disclaimer: I'm not sure as well
I think they are absolutely obliged to release kernel sources for atleast 1 variant of the device and they have released kernel sources for the Redmi Note 11 Pro chinese edition (Pissarro)
This might actually get them out of any legal issues
but I'm not sure, i might be completely wrong

Custom kernel

Hi everyone
I was remembering my galaxy s2 times when I had custom kernels that allowed me to do some things like overclocking...
Not that Mi4c needs it but it would be nice to have that option...
Is there any way to get a custom kernel for this phone or will be hard to see that happen?
If anyone could give me some kind of explanation on why is it likely or unlikely...
Thanks in advance for reading

Other xiaomi phones got their kernel source released, so it is possible for the xiaomi mi4c sources to be released also.
I read we won't because the other phones were sold outside of China so they released the sources and mi4c is for China so they won't...

No kernel source means that there will be no undervolt possibility, right?
So, kernel is out since 17.03.2016. Any undervolting possible by now?

[Kernel]DISCONTINUED for 7.3.2 Global Beta Hotplug + Touchboost + permissive version

Here's a kernel with a Ramdisk patch to enabled Qualcomm's mpdecision for hotplug and touchboost configuration. The original idea is from mi-globe.com's patched kernel. But there's a importtant difference. With the way i've integrated mpdecision you could enable and disabled hotplug / touchboost with tools like kernel auditor. The mi-globe ramdisk patch only launches mpdecision and you've zero configuration options! A patched init.qcom.post_boot.sh script is included, too.
Anyway big thx to mi-globe.com for the idea and the base ramdisk and the optimization scripts included!
That's just a simple ramdisk mod, no big deal. Anyway, have fun with it
Don't folgen to flash SuperSU or Superuser again!

I doubt Xiaomi will release the kernel source for the Mix. If anyone remembers the MiPad which was one of the more powerful tablets at its time with the Tegra K1, Xiaomi never released kernel sources and the tablet was forever stuck on Kitkat.
Considering the Mix is a China only device at the moment, ,Xiaomi may just upgrade the device to Nougat. That'll be it. I hope I am wrong and they actually do release sources.
Thus is something I was worried about when I bought the Mix. But since this is a snapdragon device, I'm hoping that development will catch up.

I hope they will, the mipad is based on Tegra and probably that's the reason they didn't release the kernel source.

It wasn't Nvidia's fault as far as I know. Nvidia had their own Tegra K1 Tablet which even got updated to Nougat. Xiaomi didn't sell that many Mipads and I guess they decided it wasn't worth their time.
And Xiaomi is known for not releasing kernel source for several of its devices. They don't really care about their less popular devices or device variants. Since the Mix is a concept phone according to them, I wonder how committed they are to the phone considering they don't intend to sell the phone globally and also the fact resellers make more money on the mix than they could have. Resellers have marked up the price to over 50%, 80% in some cases. This is profit that Xiaomi could have made if only they had sold the device globally even if priced slightly higher.
I don't think it makes them happy watching someone making profits which they could have. Its like watching someone eating away the icing on the cake you just baked while you're left with a few pieces and some crumbs.

Well it looks like Mix is going international, it is listed for several weeks on the global site. You could only find devices on the global site that are or will be sold international

Well, the Mi5s and Mi5s Plus are also shown on the Global website but none of these devices are sold internationally, at least not via official channels. And its been a while since these devices were launched.
I think their Global website is just to showcase their devices. Doesn't necessarily mean they would sell them internationally.
International availability would have helped development catch up.

The kernel is pure 7.1.19 with Ramdisk patches. It is successfully tested with Xiaomi.eu and GlobeROM 7.1.19. If you flash for example 7.1.12 kernel together with 7.1.19 globe/Xiaomi.eu you've exactly the problem you have. No WLAN. So i guess Epic team changed some things to make TWRP work again and broke compatibility to 7.1.19 kernel. The kernel is not the problem, it's the ROM.
Edit: Checked that with Winmerge. The kernel included in the Epic ROM is a 7.1.12 kernel with 7.1.19 stock Ramdisk 7.1.19 and zImage 7.1.12. Well i don't feel like searching which ROM files (kernel.modules i guess) they switched to make 7.1.12 kernel with 7.1.19 ROM. But these changed are the reason why my real 7.1.19 kernel is not working with Epic.
You could try 7.1.5 kernel that worked with 7.1.12, so it should work with Epic, too.

Reverted back to 7.1.5 and all is well. Appreciate you taking the time to explain.
Do we need a new kernel for 7.2.9 xiaomi.eu?
Sent from my MIX using Tapatalk
Seems like yes ?

Edit: no need for it...
No, you could use 7.1.19. zImage is the same.

Nowhere to be seen.
Let's hope it's not fake...
This is not at all fake. This is true. See the last 5 digits of Build Number - 8.4.9 - The naming convention followed by xiaomi (Last letter of year, followed by month, followed by date)
And see the kernel built server. It is built by mi server.
See the kernel version it's 71 and not 102 (which most custom ROMs uses) or something which shows it's completely stock and from xiaomi
This might not have been released to the public beta. The testing might happen inside the xiaomi team where this pic got leaked somehow.
But I'm almost 99% sure, this is make by Xiaomi. Now my question is when will we get it? By the end of May at least? Fingers crossed..! Good to see Xiaomi keeps improving software rather than just giving monthly security updates for Mi A1.
And have Project Treble in this 8.1 beta?

and why in that ss is used old baseband?? Xiaomi decided to revert baseband on oreo 8.1??
Baseband of gennuary/febbruary was: ta.2.3....
New baseband is: 953_gen....
For me it is fake, and anyway need a screen of OTA update when it is downloading. SS of system info means nothing.
I really think that we'll recieve Android 8.1 at the end of this month, but the second thing that makes me doubt about originality of this screenshot is that I have never seen Xiaomi provide latest android security patch level with vendor/kernel specific patches, I mean it's always been like 01/04/2018, not 05/04/2018.

Cant Trust Xiaomi
From past experience we cannot really say that this is legit. My be xiaomi are focusing more on MIIU running devices than their only stock android device and i doubt they will even make another successor of Mi a1. Their poll in twitter might have hurt their ego and might be taking sort of revenge on Android One device (No judgement Just a Thought)

If xiaomi is smart enough, they'd definitely don't want to loose the customers who love stock ROM. There are a lot of people who love xiaomi for it's great value for money hardware spec and stock ROM experience. And xiaomi knows it very well. If xiaomi is smart enough, it'll update Mi A1 to 8.1.0 and will keep introducing new phones in the A1 lineup. That's what the most they can do to get both MIUI and Stock ROM lovers towards them.

I personally believe it's fake. I had 8.1 on my Nexus 5X before I switched to Mi A1, and 8.1 did bring back the traffic indicator arrows inside the icons, and the signal icons are slightly rounded at the edges. The picture is not very good quality, but they don't seem to have that rounded aspect on that screenshot.
Doesn't mean I don't believe we'll get 8.1, but this screenshot, I think it's fake.

Question Redmi Note 11 Pro (China version) - Unable to find global ROM

I dont know where to post this appropriately as i cant find any forum for this phone on this website. Anyways...
I like to upgrade my Redmi Note 11 Pro (Model 21091116C) with China rom to Global rom.
I have tried various places to download ROM (both recovery as well as fastboot) but none worked for me.
I have Redmi Note 11 Pro (with MTK Dimensity 920) from China with Chinese ROM with MIUI 12.5.18
Recovery ROM loading says - unable to confirm or read the package (something like this but error at 0%)
when tried with flashboot, i first got anti Rollback error, one removing line of codes for anti rollback i got different error. I have also tried "viva_global_images_V13.0.3.0.RGDMIXM_20220211.0000.00_11.0_global_fd7a0232e9" ROM from this Xiaomi website but it doesnt work either.
i have also treid "pissarro_in_global_images_V12.5.5.0.RKTINXM_20220308.0000.00_11.0_in_b2c989e9b4"
as well as following revcovery ROMs too.
Version: V13.0.5.0.RKCMIXM ()
Version: V13.0.4.0.RGDMIXM ()
Version: V13.0.3.0.RKCEUXM ()
Nothing works - Can someone please provide me link to the global ROM for this phone, please.

Thanks for reply. True, it has MediaTek 920 Dimensity. But still there has to be some compatible global ROM for it.
I don't think there will be a global ROM for the china version.

Redmi Note 11 Pro & Redmi Note 11 Pro+ in China are identical to the Redmi Note 11 Pro+, which was released in Europe before some days. It should be possible to install the Global ROM on both devices via Fastboot. I will give it a try in a few days when Xiaomi releases the Fastboot ROM for Note 11 Pro+ and then give you an update.

Question TWRP files for g stylus 5g 2022 (XT2215-4)

I have recently acquired a carrier unlocked Motorola G Stylus 5G 2022 (XT2215-4) and have successfully unlocked the boot loader.
I have been looking for TWRP recovery files/images for my device but have been unsuccessful up to this point. I am considering compiling some from source, if need be, at which point I will likely compile lineage from some source for it as well.
Does anyone know if the 2021 (Denver/Osaka) models can or should be used as a template for attempting this? Additionally is anyone looking into porting to this device? I am a bit new to this and wouldn't mind a bit of assistance.
Thanks!
Just got the device the other day but haven't bootloader unlocked it. I'm assuming due to the different processor alone it's likely we'll need our own device tree. I haven't really done that stuff before but maybe if we get a Telegram group going we could get some Moto vets to help out maybe?
I have been able to extract the dtb.* files from the firmware's dtbo.img however I have not attempted to compile it into the dts.img via the dtc utiliity like many of the tutorials on the subject say you need to do. This is because none of the ones I found say anything about having to deal with multiple dtb files like the ones I was presented with when I extracted the dtbo.img from the device firmware. I didnt want to try it and have it be totally wrong.
On the motorola github I have posted an issue requesting the release of the kernel, device tree, and any other pertinent files, pertaining to the stock firmware for the XT2215-4. Hopefully they come back in an reasonable time so that I can move forward with compiling Lineage OS for it.
Rooting:
Once you get the bootloader unlocked, you can root it by flashing the boot.img that has been patched with Magisk using fastboot. Perhaps Ill post a step by step guide for this for the XT2215-4 in the next day or so.

Thanks Buddy !
Yes because the chipset differs between 2021 and 2022 models, you cannot use same device trees :/
Just purchased this device, twrp done for it yet ?

This is a mediatek phone, you will have to wait on the Milan files from Moto directly, and last I checked they haven't released the tree yet.
Moderators feel free to delete this post. Accidental refresh.

XT2215-4 is not mediatek it's Qualcomm snapdragon SDM695 w same sm6375 chipset as the xiaomi note 11 Pro, I would rather have Orange box recovery cuz I'm spooled to the OTA update block, I was about to bust out studio and Android kitchen myself and see if I could Port it from the xiaomi note 11 Pro but I know the kernel going to have different drivers as the 11 pro has a lot better camera like 100 megapixel versus 50 megapixel a few other small details different LTE bands.. maybe enough to just swap the kernels out and Android kitchen to get a buggy twrp up in there interim as we're I'm waiting the kernel ource code and devised tree Moto has only posted like three of their 12 devices I was about to supposed to request when I saw his already posted I'll try to back him up maybe if we bug the crap out of them the xiaomi people had to do that.. they have ricedroid, PE, lineage evolution x, Sapphire, and arrow all kinds of ROMs for the same chipset Xiaomi note 11 pro / Poco note 4 (apparently the Paco is the same device just different country branded and somehow it's the only one that's allowed to play like pubg battlegrounds and stuff cuz they're trying to push the pacos or whatever) i ran across it all in the telegram and I still don't think they have gotten their source code yet. I'm not sure how they even ported all this. Because the telegram thread with all the ROMs I was looking at ror porting and still requesting people to spam xiaomi' about releasing the source
I dumped and built up a recovery device tree for xt2215-4, then built twrp from source with the twrp 12.1 branch
-STATUS-
twrp boots
touch currently broken
usb currently broken
Will post more when I have more to post

I have a Mediatek variant. I have CPU-Z as a confirmation. I also have made it quite clear in my guides that I have a Factory Unlocked version purchased from Best Buy. So I'm on Milan, Mediatek Helio P65 MT6768 board.
It would behoove you to read and do research before spouting out unconfirmed information.

I'm unclear what you are responding to. My xt2215-4 is also qualcomm. It also reports the board as holi. Mine was also purchased carrier unlocked from best buy. After sifting through the internal guts of the rom after super and partitions inside have been extracted, it's def a qualcomm device. What is your model # ?
I have also rebuilt the super image to use a GSI rom but I cannot seem to get service fully functional. If anyone would like to help me work on it, join my Telegram Android group and let me know. I have twrp built but also need some help getting the touchscreen script working as well as usb functioning. I know my device is using a Novatek screen as repoted by fastboot getvar all

You could wait for Moto to release the trees. Nobody's made a request so that could be the delay.

I'm responding to your original post where you insinuated I didn't have a Mediatek device, which I do. I think the issue is, I thought you were referring to my G Stylus 2022, which is
Moto G Stylus (2022) XT-2211 Mediatek Variant.and not the 2215.
