Question TWRP files for g stylus 5g 2022 (XT2215-4) - Moto G Stylus 5G

I have recently acquired a carrier unlocked Motorola G Stylus 5G 2022 (XT2215-4) and have successfully unlocked the boot loader.
I have been looking for TWRP recovery files/images for my device but have been unsuccessful up to this point. I am considering compiling some from source, if need be, at which point I will likely compile lineage from some source for it as well.
Does anyone know if the 2021 (Denver/Osaka) models can or should be used as a template for attempting this? Additionally is anyone looking into porting to this device? I am a bit new to this and wouldn't mind a bit of assistance.
Thanks!

Just got the device the other day but haven't bootloader unlocked it. I'm assuming due to the different processor alone it's likely we'll need our own device tree. I haven't really done that stuff before but maybe if we get a Telegram group going we could get some Moto vets to help out maybe?

I have been able to extract the dtb.* files from the firmware's dtbo.img however I have not attempted to compile it into the dts.img via the dtc utiliity like many of the tutorials on the subject say you need to do. This is because none of the ones I found say anything about having to deal with multiple dtb files like the ones I was presented with when I extracted the dtbo.img from the device firmware. I didnt want to try it and have it be totally wrong.
On the motorola github I have posted an issue requesting the release of the kernel, device tree, and any other pertinent files, pertaining to the stock firmware for the XT2215-4. Hopefully they come back in an reasonable time so that I can move forward with compiling Lineage OS for it.
Rooting:
Once you get the bootloader unlocked, you can root it by flashing the boot.img that has been patched with Magisk using fastboot. Perhaps Ill post a step by step guide for this for the XT2215-4 in the next day or so.

Thanks Buddy !

Yes because the chipset differs between 2021 and 2022 models, you cannot use same device trees :/

Just purchased this device, twrp done for it yet ?

This is a mediatek phone, you will have to wait on the Milan files from Moto directly, and last I checked they haven't released the tree yet.

Moderators feel free to delete this post. Accidental refresh.

XT2215-4 is not mediatek it's Qualcomm snapdragon SDM695 w same sm6375 chipset as the xiaomi note 11 Pro, I would rather have Orange box recovery cuz I'm spooled to the OTA update block, I was about to bust out studio and Android kitchen myself and see if I could Port it from the xiaomi note 11 Pro but I know the kernel going to have different drivers as the 11 pro has a lot better camera like 100 megapixel versus 50 megapixel a few other small details different LTE bands.. maybe enough to just swap the kernels out and Android kitchen to get a buggy twrp up in there interim as we're I'm waiting the kernel ource code and devised tree Moto has only posted like three of their 12 devices I was about to supposed to request when I saw his already posted I'll try to back him up maybe if we bug the crap out of them the xiaomi people had to do that.. they have ricedroid, PE, lineage evolution x, Sapphire, and arrow all kinds of ROMs for the same chipset Xiaomi note 11 pro / Poco note 4 (apparently the Paco is the same device just different country branded and somehow it's the only one that's allowed to play like pubg battlegrounds and stuff cuz they're trying to push the pacos or whatever) i ran across it all in the telegram and I still don't think they have gotten their source code yet. I'm not sure how they even ported all this. Because the telegram thread with all the ROMs I was looking at ror porting and still requesting people to spam xiaomi' about releasing the source

I dumped and built up a recovery device tree for xt2215-4, then built twrp from source with the twrp 12.1 branch
-STATUS-
twrp boots
touch currently broken
usb currently broken
Will post more when I have more to post

I have a Mediatek variant. I have CPU-Z as a confirmation. I also have made it quite clear in my guides that I have a Factory Unlocked version purchased from Best Buy. So I'm on Milan, Mediatek Helio P65 MT6768 board.
It would behoove you to read and do research before spouting out unconfirmed information.

I'm unclear what you are responding to. My xt2215-4 is also qualcomm. It also reports the board as holi. Mine was also purchased carrier unlocked from best buy. After sifting through the internal guts of the rom after super and partitions inside have been extracted, it's def a qualcomm device. What is your model # ?
I have also rebuilt the super image to use a GSI rom but I cannot seem to get service fully functional. If anyone would like to help me work on it, join my Telegram Android group and let me know. I have twrp built but also need some help getting the touchscreen script working as well as usb functioning. I know my device is using a Novatek screen as repoted by fastboot getvar all

You could wait for Moto to release the trees. Nobody's made a request so that could be the delay.

I'm responding to your original post where you insinuated I didn't have a Mediatek device, which I do. I think the issue is, I thought you were referring to my G Stylus 2022, which is
Moto G Stylus (2022) XT-2211 Mediatek Variant.and not the 2215.

Calling all mini owners, donate to tdm, found a mini for $100 and sent him the info for it.
He has been working very hard to bring us root, now let's bring him a Dev phone!
Unlocking, root and custom ROM will come a lot faster if we get a device permanently in his hands.

It is so nice to see that the community cares more about serving the consumer than the actual company does. ?
Well, i'd like to donate, but how?

I guess you would have to pm him to ask how you can donate to him, I thought he had a link up for donations.
I'd take the donations and buy the phone for him since I live closer to the seller, but I don't know if he got the PM I sent him about it and bought it or not yet.
He's gotten the device, use the link in the op to ask how you can donate to tdm and offset the cost, he plans on releasing custom roms soon.
Very exciting time to be a mini owner.
I'm excited and can't wait! I'm coming from a Nexus 5 and Nexus 5x those have very good development support, I can't wait to start flashing ROMs and kernels on this mini!
Hey @fallen00sniper hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread, but I wanted a place to update everyone on progress and I didn't want to start a new thread.
Current status as of Oct 3 2017
Unlock
Unofficial unlock tool has been released.
Waiting for official ZTE unlock.
TWRP
Alpha version posted in unlock thread. This uses the binary kernel and init from stock (including enforcing selinux) and does not have decrypt support, so it is not optimal.
Working on a full source build and eventual official TWRP builds.
Custom ROMs
I have just now successfully booted the device with a source built kernel based on the ZTE provided sources. I'm starting on Lineage 14.1 support. This will probably take at least a week or two.
Once Lineage 14.1 is working reasonably well, I will also do an AOKP build since that is my preferred ROM. I can help community members with other ROMs, but I won't maintain them myself.
Other
Collecting information on regional variants.
@saymonek has a single-SIM UK/Europe version that is reportedly stuck on 6.0. Are there any more variants?
@tdm, completely fine by me.
while you are in the rom getting them up and running, check into why the touch screen sucks at positional tapping, mine isn't 100% accurate lol
Did a bit of research on variants by trolling through ZTE support. So far I've found:
* USA version.
* UK Carphone Warehouse version.
* International "open market" version (eg. Austria).
* Hong Kong version.
First build done:
Package Complete: /home/tdm/out/laos-14.1/target/product/tulip/lineage-14.1-20171003-UNOFFICIAL-tulip.zip
This is going to need a fair amount of work before it boots and runs, but ... progress!
Oh also FYI... I've been cribbing from the HTC One A9 (hiae) device for Lineage builds. haie is maintained by intervigil, who I had the pleasure to work with at cyngn. I'd say he is one of the top four or five device people in the custom ROM world. And it looks like he has been actively working on Lineage 15.0 so we should get that soon after nightly builds start.
It's so exciting to see device development take off!
Just a quick update...
I had a ... uh ... "server malfunction" yesterday so didn't get a chance to do much. However, I'm back in business today.
So far today I've got linage to start the boot animation. Should be able to get all the way to the home screen tomorrow.

Hello, can I change my axon 7 mini back to the US variant? It was originally US variant, I mistakenly switched US band in the engineering menu and Iost network services. I managed to get it working with the European firmware from ZTE Russia. Would like to revert to the US variant. I noticed in the bootloader version, the US version is P852A12 whilst the European variant is P852A11. Any luck on reverting to US variant?
Can you not access the engineering menu and switch back?
If not, my suggestion would be to use QPST and/or QXDM. These are proprietary tools but you can find them for download. They will allow you to program the frequency bands that your phone uses.
Good luck.

I can access the engineering menu. The device is working but would have loved to switched back to US variant because it's a US variant initially but I am unable to install the US firmware I downloaded from ZTE US Support site
I'm sure we can get you back on US firmware.
What is the error when you try to flash the ZTE package?

Have an LG K30 and want to see custom software and twrp? Look Here

I currently build 64bit LineageOS for the LG K20 Plus which is extremely similar to the LG K30 Plus. I would like to start supporting the LG K30 but I don't have the device or know anyone with it to pull stock configs from. If you have an LG K30 and want to see custom ROMs brought to it, please send me a message or respond to this thread and I'll do what I can to get you hooked up with LineageOS.
I have an LG K30. I actually recently contacted the admins about adding the forum section for it. I'd be willing to do whatever you need.

It will need 3 pages worth of threads before it gets its own forum. We don't even have one for the K20 Plus yet and I've been developing for it for months. Anyways if you could look up my K20 plus lineage thread and message me on Telegram. I'll be happy to get some device specific info from you so I can build twrp without risking breaking your phone. Thank you in advance. I want to help your device get a swift start on custom software
I will contribute whatever I can to help you with a custom recovery for the k30. Any filesystem dumps or any other info you may need. I acquired this phone yesterday and would like to see some devs become interested in this model.

Is there anything that I can do to help?
I too am willing to help out anyway that I can. I also have Telegram if anybody is interested in working further there as well.
Once/if a bootloader unlock method is established for this device, I have TWRP built for the K30. So once somebody manages to bootloader unlock this device, PM me on here or on Telegram and I'll send you the recovery.IMG and the install instructions I know of. However I'm not sure how this will be possible with a non-removable battery.
I haven't unlocked the bootloader for my k30 yet.. but I'll update when it is unlocked.

LG will most likely be pushing out an Oreo update for this device, the K20 plus and stylo 3 plus were included in the Stylo 4 plus kernel source (the stylo 2 plus was removed). However with this device having a non user-removable battery it may never see an official bootloader unlock method

I bought s10+ over it
I gave up on it. And the developer that did a Magisk flashable mod I think has also moved on. I tested for him but the device was not very popular. Thinking about trying to sell it or just gifting it to someone. Haven't even turned it on for weeks.
My SM-N935F NoteFE Floyd V5
DEX or HDMI support, is the most important feature for a DEVELOPER TO CREATE FOR NOTE 10LITE!Hardware wise is capable, but SOFTWARE is not permitting this feature. I hope that a DEVELOPER will be so kind to HELP on that!!!
And propably a valid twrp version to flash it!
maybe someone, i.e. @butchieboy ?, smart is capable of porting twrp to the Note 10 lite with this instruction which seems to be easy for linux users or with those skills. See here: https://appuals.com/how-to-port-twrp-for-android-without-source/
On my side I am a bit familiar with Android Image Kitchen for windows (so far only used for themeing twrp for other devices to my needs, which worked excellent) but the above guide says it should be done with AIK for Linux, so I am afraid to mix (brick) things up....

If it was as simple as stated in those instructions I would have had this fixed ages ago, but it is not. It relies on signatures that need to be generated to match the devices vbmeta.img file otherwise it will not boot. I tried this, but got nowhere with the signatures and little support from other devs to help me with creating the signatures. @butchieboy has a Magisk flashable I created to get some mods in the device but other things like screen mirroring or HDMI being fixed need to be done directly on the image of the device. I will release an R version of the latest firmware N770FXXS7DUB1_N770FOJM7DUB1_XSG, which is the one I have and release it soon.
Whats up Javix. I was testing Twrp for another developer a week ago. We got knowhere. I give up on the 10 lite as At&t has blocked it and i can no longer use it on my Network. So I basically have a Mint condition phone that is useless to me. Damn At&t are starting to do this with any F version device when you try to use it on their network it automatically suspends your number as an unauthorized device. I bought a S20FE unlocked bootloader Twrp and rooted. Good luck with 10 lite, mine is back in the box..lol

Well first we have to have a reliable stable TWRP. I'm not a developer, I'm literally a hobbyist that took some initiative to spark some activity on our variant. Normally my area of expertise is writing tutorials and making flashable stock roms. Even that has slowed since Android 10 is an entirely harder and different beast than Oreo and later.
Once TWRP comes I'm sure there will be the porting madness you're waiting on.

I built a TWRP but the touchscreen doesn't work. Until we get over that problem we are kind of stuck.

No, I used Hovatek's tool to build it from my device tree.

I'm running unofficial los on mine (us varient) and I'm pretty sure I saw havock on the rom list.

Android 12 in the works?

Now that the G Pro has an official A12 release, does anyone know of any roms being actively developed and where to find info on them? I was kinda thinking of finally biting the bullet and trying my hand at building one myself, since I really like the G Stylus and will probably hold onto it for awhile.
From my experience, the overall best/most stable rom is almost always the official firmwares released by manufacturer.
You can flash the moto g pro android 12 firmware to the moto g stylus if you unlock the bootloader.
Nowadays custom roms are not as popular as in the past. The only reasons for going custom roms are that you hate the official rom or you must have a special feature that is only available on custom roms, or the manufacturer stops updating the device.
You lose many features with custom roms: worse camera quality, no moto gestures, and no FM radio.
I still welcome more developers building custom roms because we can have more options when the manufacturer stops supporting our device.

Use some online converter tool to get or manually wrtie the fastboot flash commands from flashfile.xml or service.xml.
You can also read some instructions here:

You will get a .bat file with all flash commands. Use flashdile.xml if you want data wipe or use service.xml if you want to keep your data when upgrading.
Then you copy the flash commands .bat file and the extracted firmware into the adb platform tools folder, and run the .bat file when you boot the phone into bootloader and connect to computer.
This couldn't possibly work on the Moto G Stylus 2020 which is 4G LTE only. This is for the 2021 or 2022 5G version.

Lol.
If you know nothing, don't give wrong information or draw wrong conclusion.
The flashing instructions/guide work for most if not all moto phones and users just need to download the corresponding/correct firmware for specific devices.
Seems straightforward.
