Samsung has disabled access to Hidden Phone settings (For band selection, disabling 5G) which could be accessed by apps like NetMonster and Samsung Band Selection App.
This Has happened after the June 1 Security Patch update.
Any suggestions of workaround appreciated.
Thanks

Didn't work.
FWIW Samsung Band Selection still works for me after June 1 update on U1, I can still access the "Preferred network type" setting after clicking "MORE NETWORK SETTINGS" and then the name of my SIM.
Sucks I've just started using it everyday about a month ago and now is gone out of life.
Not working anymore with u1. I miss forcing my phone to use a specific band
The Samsung Band Selection explains the app depends on the fireware to exploit the hidden menu. This has happen before and eventually have a app update
It may not update this time, according to the developer.

Yes, it still works that way for me too on the July update with U1.
I have a workaround, but I won't be explaining it in detail.
From what I gathered; Samsung has only disabled the hidden menu through an app update. The function is still accessible on a firmware level. Which means there's still hope if you're rooted. You can download an older version of Samsung Call Settings and do a system-less installation of it.
I did the downgrade using LP magisk module, but since it's blocked on XDA I can't really explain the process here.
Haven't tried yet, but any other system-less app installer modules might do the downgrade as well.
or, if you're running a custom version of OneUI, just ask a OneUI Rom developer to downgrade the app in their rom.
I want to try this because my S22 has very poor band signal on 3G-4G (my network doesn't have 5G)

I bought an Unlocked Canadian S6 recently, and it just won't let me connect to the LTE network.
Model Numer : SM-G920W8
Android Version : 5.0.2
Baseband : G920W8VLU1AOCG
Connecting to the LTE is not even an option. When I go in the Network Options, I get the choice between :
-WDCMA/GSM (auto connect)
- WDCMA only
- GSM only
I know for a fact that I am in the coverage zone, so no need to ask that silly question
I've tried different SIM cards, played in the options a bit, and factory reset the phone about 5 times now, yet nothing seems to work.
Also, when I try to do the update, it just reboots and gives me an Android logo and a failed Icon
I've only seen one other post like this from a carrier's support website, but no solutions were found.
**Update : For a reason, after a recovery, it will connect to the LTE for a bit or until next boot, then go back to what it is now.
First question, who did you buy the phone from? Second, Is it second hand? By default, Wind mobile does not allow the LTE option to be displayed in system settings as they as a carrier don't have LTE. It is blocked by the CSC setting for the carrier. As for other carriers It should leave you the option to connect in settings where you say it is not. If it is a Wind phone, You would need to change the CSC to enable the LTE selection. There is a method to force LTE even without option in settings, but I think it is removed in the latest firmware. Try dialing *#2263# in the dialer. It may bring you to menu that will allow you to select LTE. This is not a permanent method though as it will need to be done every boot. The other way, (If you are in fact a Wind/Mobilicity phone) is to enter dialer and enter *#272*IMEI# with IMEI being your devices unique code. If at all possible, take a full nand and Titanium Backup before doing this and be sure to transfer everything off the phone to a PC. This method wipes everything and I mean everything off the phone buy is a surefire way to enable LTE.
Yes, it was second hand. I didn't ask who was his carrier simply because it was unlocked.
I'll try it tomorrow, thanks for the information
Here is the menu you will see when you type the *#272*imei# code into your dialer. The codes are the carrier names. Mine which is GLW is Wind, BMC is Bell, RWC is Rogers, etc.
Maybe there is no LTE in your area...

It would still be visible in the Settings/Mobile Networks/Network Mode menu which it is not. His problem is more than that.

Sweet! It works :good: Thanks man
Now, would you have any ideas on why the update won't work? I didn't get much into it yet, but I will soon.
I'm not sure why it wouldn't update, but now that you have changed the CSC you can download the update and flash with Odin. Pick your carrier and go to town. The guy running the following thread runs his own firmware host. He's got amazing DL speeds. Usually takes me 6 or so minutes to do the 1.6gb file. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3086387
I'm having the same issue.

Connected with someone selling a G920W8 version. LTE is disabled and the codes aren't working. Can you reaffirm which unlock code worked for you? I'm on Fido, what LTE network are you using?
hi BCSC
Thanks for the details. I searched complete net and read all articles but nothing set me up with the proper thing. i read your solution i dialled *#2263# and all i got is service mode and in that i went to band selection , LTE and the all ....... Yes and its showing LTE in mobile data. THanks so much.
But now another issue, network is showing perfect but no outgoing and incoming calls.
in incoming its showing busy and on outgoing its not connecting to another phone.
And, Lte is not showing in mobile networks, There only 3 options still are showing.
Mine is same Wind S6 but i had to use in India.
Let Me know
Thanks once again

Picking LTE from the service mode will note make it visible from the settings menu. Its more of a workarpund instead of a way of permanently enabling it. As for the issue of no out/in calls, my best guess is that it could be due to which LTE bands are being used or are available in India. Unfortunatly I have no way to test that option. I only was successful in getting the Wind LTE option on Canadian carriers.
Sent from my SM-G935W8 using XDA-Developers mobile app
*#546368#*915#
On the Canadian Freedom Mobile V20 even enabling LTE in the hidden menu, no LTE option available in Mobile Network settings. Apparently, we will get it in a firmware update in coming weeks.
And be careful, if you don't know what you're doing you can disable calling and mobile network access. If you do, try going into 'Field Test', 'Network Mode' and enable 'WCDMA AWS', or 'Automatic' if that doesn't work, should fix it.

Beautiful. Purchased two H910s for use on T-Mobile.
I used "create shortcut" and found this activity in my ColorOS 11 alpha.
com.android.settings.network.telephony.MobileNetworkActivity
It seems to be Android native SIM setting and have VOLTE option in it with my Chinese SIM. (10-50-58-50.jpg)
I am not in the UK and The VOLTE option does not show up with my UK SIM probably because VOLTE does not work with roaming. (10-35-05-86.jpg)
So would someone test their SIM with this activity?
Yes, it does.

Go to the App - Activity - Search for Mobile Network - Find the one in setting - Try the shortcut
Then you should have the menu.
Not sure if this menu is on ColorOS7 though

The highlighted setting seems to be missing from my phone. I don't see that.
I am surprised that this doesn't have WiFi calling since mobile network at my home is sketchy and till now I was relying on WiFi calling on my old phone for all work calls.

Probably this menu isn't available on ColorOS7.
I am on ColorOS11 alpha. You can also apply ColorOS11 beta in Settings-Update before October. But I can't gaurantee this will solve the VOLTE / VOWIFI issue. Also latest beta fails the Safety net test.

Yeah I thought about getting the beta but not sure I want to be on an unstable beta build on my main phone.
Now ColorOS11 (for Chinese device )is out for everyone. To update, you can go setting-update-gear on the right corner-first option. Anyone wants to try this method for enabling volte?

Hi I've just updated the phone to colorOS 11. I've tried the shortcut maker and gone to the seeing page but there's no volte option on it. Any pointers?
Any way wifi calling can be activated?
I have a US unlocked S22 ultra with ATT and it seems I don't have the network mode option available.
I can not select 5G or LTE. I can download an app and I can set it up using the app but it is not in the main menu officially.
Do you have it with or without ATT sim card.
I think Samsung disables that option using the CSC but there is a change ATT disables that using the sim profiling
It was taken out with the last update. If you download Samsung Band selection app, you can go into more network settings and change it from 5g to LTE there.
What's the reasoning for removing that option? Can't think of any

This doesn't work either. You get an error when you tap the Launch Band Selection button.
Works fine to me on latest July Update AT&T.
Can anyone who has already upgraded a Pixel 6a to A13 tell me if the "Allow 2G" option is still available in Settings-->Networks-->SIMs ?
Some people on twitter are saying that they cannot set 2G as a "preferred" network anymore, not sure what it implies.
The option is still here yes. However, you can't set 2G as the preferred network type.
Try this..
Open Dialer
type :- *#*#4636#*#*
Click on Phone info
Select Preferred Network type & Scroll Down & select "GSM Only"
Thank you guys.
Current situation is bizarre for me. I need 2G working for voice only. My carrier is switching 3G off, and I cannot have VoLTE working (despite the corresponding option being enabled and carrier saying that it should work). Currently, when I make a phone call, the 4G data connection gets disabled and voice travels over 3G or 2G. When the phone call is over, 4G data connection gets back on. Since 3G is being switched off, if 2G suddenly became totally unavailable, I simply couldn't make phone calls anymore.

I used "Toggle Network Type" app on earlier android, but not it can't set 2G as preferred type anymore.
Edit: actually it was Automate app that I used, but neither it nor Toggle network type work.
Not sure if you have tried enabling this option in the SIM settings (something to do with the Tensor Security settings as Google deem 2G to be less secure.

I didn't, because I don't have it. I'm actually on a different phone and rom, and just trying to find a workaround, this is the closest thread to my problem that I found on xda. I'm using Samsung S8, and this rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-13-crdroid-android-9-x-for-samsung-galaxy-s8-s8-n8.4516883/
