Not restoring GSM signal - Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Questions & Answers

Hello,
here is my phone's issue:
after losing signal for a while ( for example when I'm in a garage) from time to time ( like 50% of these cases)the signal does not get restored. The tricky thing is it shows the GSM signal is just fine and the only reason I know it is NOT there is that there is no internet data by these range bars.... Obviously I cannot make a call and am unavailable. When I enter my house through the garage and the phone gets Wifi I can't even realize the data is not there and I might as well be unavailable for an hour or so... Sometimes the issue resolves itself, sometimes I have to switch to SIM 2 and back and that fixes the problem until the next GSM loss. I even got a new SIM card and factory reset the phone- with no results. It has been recently upgraded to MIUI 13 with no effect whatsoever... I have to use 2 SIM cards ( one for professional purpose). If you don't help me I'm going to throw this thing through the windows
Best Regards Chris

Network operator lock

Hi,
my friend got Moto G few months ago and he lives near border (and traveling to another country for few minutes and then come back to home country) so his phone goes a lot of time in roaming mode. I said to him choice network operator manually and it should fix this, well it didn't (I tried it myself).
I know on android 2.1 this worked just like on old phones. You went to another country and you was without network signal until you came back in home network range, but stupid android 4.3 + wants you to change network operator...
on my CM11 with xperia SP it asked every 30 seconds to change network even if I say I don't want it (very nice when you need GPS navigation in car and stupid android wants you to choice network operator). On moto G with stock rom it is even worse. It changes automatically to roaming even if you choice your network operator manually 10 minutes ago. All I want is lock to home network operator and if the signal is gone..silently wait until my home operator is within range and connect to it.
I have no luck to find solution for now, any apps that can fix this? root for now is not an option, but if there is an app that fix this maybe I will be able to convince him for rooting
so no idea how to do this?
@wolfyy - What model Moto G is this? What version of Android exactly? This feature works as you describe in Stock Motorola Firmware based on my experience. Maybe the Android installation on the phone has become corrupt. A factory reset in Android may fix this, or alternatively it is possible to flash a Factory Firmware Image even with a locked Bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/index-moto-g-falcon-factory-firmware-t3110795
There is also an app called Roaming Control - which appears to allow disabling of calls while Roaming.
I saw roaming control, but it does not do what I want. After factory reset there is still the same problem.
I don't want that I can't call when I am in roaming, but I want that when the phone loses home network for a second (minute...5 minutes) it doesn't connect to roaming but it silently waits for home network.
phone is Moto G (2013)
andoid: 5.0.2
build n.: LXB22.46-28.1

That is the normal behaviour if you choose: Manual.
Sometimes ROM corruption cannot be repaired by Factory Reset and requires flashing the Factory firmware Image and wiping of Internal Storage.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/index-moto-g-falcon-factory-firmware-t3110795
Ok I will try to convince my friend for ROM flashing.
however I remembered yesterday evening that on my phone (xperia SP) when i choose manual it was constantly asking me to select new mobile network, that is why I go back to automatically because that popup goes in loop and I needed to reset my phone. And looking around a lot of people have this problem. The phone simply just don't want to wait to come back in home network, always want to connect to available networks.
@wolfyy - I have to admit I'm no longer sure of how 'Manual' behaves in Lollipop. I used the option more when I was running KitKat. But certainly have root access and Xposed or running a custom ROM will offer more options on how this setting would behave.
Note: Flashing a Factory Firmware Image does not <normally> require Bootloader unlocking, or root access.
well in 4.3 did not do this way in CM11 I even had no option for manual select network but for now I am back on stock ROM (still waiting when (not if) my phone will die again ).
as I said I am asking this for my friend, I live 15 km from border and only when I drive close to border from time to time changes signal to roaming, but friend lives 2 km from border and have stronger signal from roaming mobile network, then from home network and I hoped that there is easy way to fix this but looks like only option is to try different ROMs.

D6683 - Upgrade to D6633 Marshmallow Firmware - LTE Connection

Hi guys.
Just trying to share my observation and explore if we can do anything.
I am using D6683 (I think it is support to be a HK based handset). Using Lollipop, it has been working perfectly but 16GB not enough hence MM function that allow SD card and Internal memory merge is appreciated.
Since Sony decide to ditch us using D6683, the only option is using D6633.
1. Try using MM .575, it has huge connection problem. The phone will just stay in GPRS mode even connected to a LTE network. Driving from one point to another point, will just cause it to data connection to hang. Putting it in airplane mode and anything else won't work. Only reboot works
2. Restore stock and upgrade to .291, first day testing seem to be ok. Got LTE connection. It did try to swing a bit but it has been maintaining well. This i started driving with Waze. Connection start to go haywire, but it will be still try to reconnect. Data are "maintained" to certain extend. Let the phone along for about 2 days, the next thing I realize, only GPRS left. The signal logo got no more H, H+ or LTE. Check the phone service menu and all info confirm the LTE is available. Again a reboot fix the problem.
3. Change the setting to only WCDMA + GPRS. The phone was "perfect". No data hang issue and etc
Need all the sifu help. Assuming if the phone is rooted, how is the phone determine the connection method? I presume that the phone will initialize the modem to dial the connection. Can anyone share anything that we can probably trigger a redial and probably eventually inject into the phone data connection sequence. Again using Lollipop, there is no issue.
Appreciate any comments/advice.
Regards
Dan

Unstable connection Mix 2S - No sim Card/wifi unstable

Hello! I have this issue with the phone that persists for a few weeks. It started when I tried to put another sim along with my current one. From then on, it really doensn't matter if I use the phone with 2 sims, 1 sim, or 1 sim in slot 1 or 2. Sometimes it shows no SIM Card, sometimes just no signal, sometimes no internet access but it has a 4g connection. I have tried to use it completly without sim and ofter some time, the Wi-Fi dies (goes gray in settings as well), and after some times it connects for 5 seconds, disconnects for 5 seconds and so on (so does the internet mobile connection). I have tried to flash global stable on it with TWRP, it seemed like it was a little more stable, but not *stable*. Today I have flashed Global Stable Miui 11 fastboot rom (xiaomi flash tool), no success whatsoever. It doesn't have warranty anymore and I would really like to try and find a solution.
At first I thought it was the sim card pins, but it is not because I have issues with Wi-Fi even with no sim inserted. Do you guys have any idea what the problem could be?

Asus4max/SamsungA10s loosing data connection&no updates

Hi all,
I'm facing the problem with both phones (Asus 4 Max/ZC554KL and Samsung A10s/A107F). The signal is full, shows 4G, even the arrows, BTSs all around (almost the city centre) but the data connection keeps disconnecting. As long as there's a data transfer (downloads, online radio), it works, once it stops, the connection dies too, still showing 4G/data transfer arrows though. Switching the data off/on doesn't help, the flight mode on/off has to be used to restore the connection. Doing this everytime you touch the phone is kinda....tiring, not mentioning you're getting no messages/notifications till you do it. The sim cards are both quite new (t-mobile cz and kaktus (local lowcost t-m brand)), so it shouldn't be the problem, I was thinking about the problem with contacts to the antennas in back covers as both phones were open few times (was changing the charging connectors due to the slight water damage) but wasn't able to find out if the 4G/GSM antennas are in the cover in case of these phones. The carriers keep saying all is fine from the network part. Both phones were bought new in Asia, being used in CZ now but have all local LTE bands. Asus performs a tiny bit better (in terms of reception) so I decided to dig into the software options. The factory reset didn't help and I realised the phone is still in its original state from the time I bought it (03/19) and offered me zero updates. Even now it doesn't. Tried to download it manually from the Asus website but it always says "error" during the installation and stops it. So I decided to find another way to get it in. Don't want to risk Chinese one-click apps, so I chose Magisk which should allow manual updates with no risk. The collateral problem arose, as the volume keys do not work, so I tried to put it into the recovery mode through ADB. My old computer sadly only has Windows Vista OS and keeps telling me errors whenever I try to perform any ADB commands. Therefore I'm asking you here for help with the following questions:
1. is there any software allowing to put ZC554KL into the recovery mode through Windows Vista?
2. if not, any other way to push any actual ROM version into it? (There's still 7.1.1 from the factory).
3. if not, any other way to get there Magisk?
4. if not, any safe rooting app, not requiring the recovery mode? (Well, I don't need to get controlled by the Chinese comrades)
5. overall, any other possibilities to solve this data problem/keep the data connection working? (I could leave the online radio on (silently) but the battery gets drained quickly and I won't have unlimited data forever )
6. anyone knows where the LTE/WiFi antennas are in these two phones? As Asus has better 4G but significantly worse WiFi reception.
I've heard you're the #1 experts here, so hopefully we'll be able to solve this. If there's any information missing in the problem description, I'm ready to provide it.
Thanks a lot for any help

Data disconnecting, no updates and failed recovery mode

Got no answer at general Q&A forum so I'm trying it here.
