Wanted the Pixel 5, but saw that the OnePlus 8T will come out around the same time, with similar specs and prices...
Wondering if anyone had any thoughts....

I have the OnePlus 6T and just pre-ordered the Pixel 5. Moving to Pixel for software support. Software updates for OnePlus phones; the first 6 months are great, the next 12 just Ok, and rare for the remainder of the device. Flashy specs aren't everything when your software is outdated.
With the recent introduction of new devices to the OnePlus portfolio it's likely their software support will worsen. Samsung has superior device software support to OnePlus.

Can't agree more about 1+. I've had many of their phones, currently on the 7pro. Once a new model comes out it becomes the focus of their software department and all other models wait. I have plenty of bugs that are just getting old having to deal with. Looking forward to the Vanillaness of P5
I also have a oneplus 6 atm and there have been several bugs in their updates. Not to mention how buggy their android 10 update was where they eventually halted the upgrade for a few months!
Also their cameras are pretty bad (only the current 8 Pro has a decent enough camera).
Being on ATT in the states, the 8T has no support for 5g. If i'm going to be on this phone for another 2ish years, 5g support is something i definitely want in a device I upgrade to. For whatever damn reason, ATT won't certify oneplus devices to their 5g network
Also on a OP 6T and agree with everything said above.
The sentiments above are the exact reason why I've moved from OnePlus 7Pro to the Pixel 5.
For the non-T variant:
For 6 months after launch your phone is the top dog in terms of software support
After 6 months for another 6 months the T variant launches and whilst support for the non-T variant is still great, you might see a updates for the T variant a week or two ahead of your phone
After a year the next non-T phone comes out and development for your phone slows down to mostly security updates about a month behind when they are launched to the Pixel. New Android update is about 3 to 4 months after the latest OnePlus
After two years you're still getting some updates but barely
Compare that to Pixel and you have every monthly security update, beta of new Android release and new Android at the time they are launched for a good 2-3 years.
The OnePlus 8T absolutely demolishes the Pixel 5 in raw hardware specs but software isn't anywhere near as good in that regard. You can go custom rom but then you're hoping on the good work of volunteers which isn't guarenteed or quality tested at anywhere near the same level as what an OEM can do.

I came to the Pixel 5 from a 1+ 7t and i can only echo what others are saying really. My experience of a year with Oneplus was Never Fix Anything rather than Never Settle.

How's the switch from the 7t screen to the pixel's ?
I currently have and have had a Google Pixel 3 for two years. Since then there have been 3 new Pixel phones that have come out ( I think). I want to stay with the Pixel platform because for me with a phone that is running so much Google software it has been the simplest and smoothest running phone. Google hardware paired with Google software and the Google made Android platform all working together. I am definitely not a technically savvy person so would it be worth it for me to upgrade to any of the newer Pixel phones? Are there features on the newer versions that would be worth me changing and transferring everything? I would like some opinions on upgrading and if so to what phone.
Pixel 4 does not include free unlimited storage of original quality images on Google Photos, and has a smaller battery than the Pixel 3. I don't know about the Pixel 5 photo storage, but I suspect it is the same as the Pixel 4. Pixel 5 doesn't have a "flagship" processor. Both 4 and 5 do have new features the 3 does not. You'll have to determine if the new features are worth losing features the 3 has. I'm staying with my Pixel 3.
I would stay with my pixel 3 just because Google when tries to listen and makes us think they are... they do it in the wrong way... Pixel 4 is not worth the money to upgrade from 3 just because of the fancy stuff they added to make us think it is... and the 5 is just a wasted launch, because ppl wanted pixel to be cheaper, but not at the cost of not using the best Snapdragon available, which makes the 5 an entry level phone with a good software camera... The 3 will be the best release so far with size, software and snapdragon processor for now... we will have to wait until they decide to make the 6 as good as the 3.
Wait for the 6. We will be approaching end of life on the 3, and we should actually have an upgrade. My wife has a 4, not noticeably better than the 3 - and the 5 only brings 5G tech, not any phone improvements. A year from now the 5G phones should have the wrinkles ironed out.
Hi all, sorry if this isn't in the relevant section as I couldn't find one for the original Pixel XL that I have.
My question is, my phone is now stuck at Android 10 and showing signs of battery loss and low internet connectivity, Iv'e been a Google phone stalwart since the original Samsung Galaxy, LG Nexus etc but now need to upgrade.
I don't want to buy a lesser model than the new 6 which is due for release this year but not too fussed about 5g so what are my best options? Pixel 4 / 4a / 5?
Thanks for any replies.

I don't get the question. you want no less than a Pixel 6, but you're asking which to get the 4, 4a, or 5? They're all lesser than the pixel 6. I'd go for the pixel 4a 5g though (different generation than the 4a). It's like the the pixel 5 with a little bigger screen and a headphone jack. The upshot is that the retail price is $200 less. I got one for $220 after trading in my pixel 2xl.
Thanks for the reply and yeah sorry, I worded that wrong. I meant, I won't be opting for the 6 at this time due to costs. I see the 4a 5g to be a good option but unsure about the lack of 5g coverage in my area. Would it be worthwhile? I think I know the answer to my own question really! Google Pixel 4a 5g.
I've ordered the Google Pixel 4a 5g. Thanks.
Hello!
Is there a good reason to wait for the Google Pixel Fold instead of the Samsung Fold Z4?
From:
1) what you know for these phones,
2) your own experience with z4
3) your wider experience of Google vs Samsung
Thanks!
AFAIK there’s no solid information about any release date as yet, as Google hasn’t even confirmed that a foldable device will be launched. There was even some speculation that the Pixel foldable project had been cancelled.
