yeah i cant now, but thats a good point
what's not to like.
i have snapdragon. advertised at 45w charging, but that max it' charging is at 31w.
that's why 45w charging is only a few minutes faster than 25w cus it only charging at 31w
but it' still better than a phone advertised as 25w charging.
SD, voted yes but battery could be better, though I don't have an awful battery life my S20 Ultra did perform much better battery wise, camera is slightly better than s20 Ultra for sure, performance is great as expected from this phone.
SD here and very happy
Will be interested how this vote goes. I too am very happy with mine and so is my wife. In all the posts about being unhappy many are saying 30% of people are unhappy or have major issues. Really think that is a number pulled out of their ass. I do not think there are a lot of posts from individuals that are happy, they just read what is posted. So, the bad posts are skewed in numbers. Let's see how this goes.
yeah i myself am very happy, i have the 85% limit set on my battery, and do a lot of heavy usage and im very happy with mine, mine is exynos 512/12. im using httrack, and google and dropbox autosync pretty much 24 hours a day in the background while also video editing and i dont notice any lag at all
SD and a like from me (love is a strong word) only negative for me is the sharp corners and wider body compared to S21U though somehow S22U feels lighter maybe better weight distribution. Speed, fluidity and battery are great for me.
There have been many more exynon users that have been unhappy with performance, but a lot have 128 models. Also, since the latest firmware update, many of those are now happy with the performance. Just goes to show you.

no. think it is one of the worst devices Samsung has put out. terribly slow. bugs, bugs, bugs. overheating like crazy.
for , me, a waste of money. upgrade s21 ultra via samsung direct only thing i am fairly happy about is that I only lost $225 bux for the purchase.
this one has really changed my mind all together on samsung upgrades.
Just the box alone it arrived in screamed 'crap,' on hand.
just my opinion here
I really like mine.

I have the 256 version and I'm unhappy, especially with the battery life.
The lag was somehow solved after the latest April update, but the battery life is still awful...
so the consensus is, by, yes or no votes, that more than two thirds of people are happy with thier s22 ultra
I'm really liking my Galaxy S22 Ultra so far (coming from an iPhone 13 Pro). The only thing that bothers me is the mediocre battery life.
I have done everything to debloat and clean the device via ADB and I'm also using the Galaxy max Hz app to limit the screen refresh rate to 10Hz in certain situations.
Limiting background usage helps as well and I have turned off things like automatic synchronization in Gmail and other apps.
Now, the device consumes way less battery power when being used/ in standby and I am satisfied with the results.

At this point, it appears by the yes/no votes that 80%+ are happy with their S22 ultra. Not a huge sample size, however, I think for the most part that people perusing this forum are looking to fix/improve their S22u in some manner. Therefore, I think the real number of people happy is in the 90%+ range.
i also think a factor to consider is that computing power increases faster than battery technology and people are wanting better processors but also complaining when the battery used to power it isnt sufficient and samsung are having to battle battery power verses computing power , i remember back in the early days of android when devices limited camera and processing power to increase battery life, setting camera to like 90% and the cpu governor was ondemand/interactive, its gonna be better once we have some custom kernels and cpu/gpu overiding, i myself am willing to sacrifice battery life for computing power, i mean we all have power banks nowadays anyway
If this were a forum for a true Note phone, the percentages would be different. My vote was No, my previous device (Note 10+) was better.

The only thing stopping me getting the S8 is potential poor battery life. Since it's the same size as the S7 Edge I would have expected it to have similar battery performance, but looking at the projections it seems the S8 doesn't hold a candle.
The S8+ is too big for me so not an option.
I think they should be on par, around the same SOT. The regular S8 is the new S7 and the S8+ is the new Edge when you think about it. So you should compare the S7 with the S8. Time will tell.
That was my worry too but I asked at the new york event and they told me the system has been optimized for it and does not huge a lot of battery as before. the lady had it for a week before the presentation and told me she saw the difference, let's see now...
Came across this online which might give some idea on how battery will perform. Of course some people will have lower or higher SOT. But if you ask me that's 5+ SOT is not bad at all.

That's about on par with the S7 then. Pretty much the expected SOT for normal usage with Samsung phones. It's the average these days and it's good enough. They have a less power hungry SoC but a bigger brighter screen so it evens things out. Good to know, thanks.
I think since Samsung put such a big battery in the S7 Edge, people are expecting them to do even better every year. I certainly am. If you think about it, the S8+ has a 6.2" display - that's massive compared to the 5.5" display of the S7 Edge. Yet they've put a smaller battery in. I know they say the cpu gets more efficient every year but I can't see it making that much of a difference to offset the smaller battery compared to the bigger display.
I'm yet to be proven wrong though. I must say I'm still very happy with my S7 Edge and although I'm itching to get the S8, I might just hang on for the time being.
Idk what but I am getting frustrated by this SOT, I find this battery performance unacceptable by today's standards. I hope company would focus less in gimmicks and more on battery optimization, technologies.
Really hoping for S8+ battery life being good.

It is frustrating, the battery often gets overlooked. Although the images and previews I have seen so far suggest the battery life is pretty much the same, it was never that great to begin with. It is the average for high end phones. Instead of the ongoing trend to have super slim devices, I would much prefer a little more thickness to host a larger capacity battery.
It has apparently improved in one big way though, Samsung say it will hold charge better over time. 5% diminished in a year rather than the 20-30% in previous batteries.
Coming from the LG V20, I'm sure I won't be disappointed with the S8+'s battery life.

It will be alright, more is always better though. Especially for things like VR, movies and games. I'll be happy enough and at least it charges quickly.
Considering my S6 has kinda crappy battery life, virtually anything else will be an upgrade from that, haha. But, I do hope the battery life is actually good, despite the larger screen and same size battery as last year's S7.

Same here. The V20 stand-by life is excellent. But the onscreen life is subpar.
Im pretty disappoinited as well especially after my s7e got updated to N. I only want the s8 as it compares to my s7e which i find to be the perfect size. Smaller battery with bigger screen. Thats what they did with the s6e and the battery was sht

I completely agree.
I really don't understand this desperate need for thinner phones. I find that the thinner they are, the less comfortable they are to hold and use. When I go back and hold an older phone that is significantly thicker, it actually feels better in the hand, not worse. Easier to grip and manipulate with one hand and I feel like I am less likely to accidentally drop it.
The only dimension that needs to remain small enough is the side-to-side width. They've done a great job with that on the S8/S8+. Now if they would make the phone 2-3mm thicker and the same width, I wager that it would not only be more comfortable to hold, but it would probably accommodate 4500mAh or more for battery size.
The problem is they seem to think that since the New 10nm is more efficient sticking the same or lesser battery capacity will yield a similar battery life. They dont let the users benefit from hving lower battery consumption chips

Well, they are not stupid. They make their statistics assessment to figure out what is more attractive, the screen or more battery. Looks like many people prefer "fancy" screen.
If I remember correctly the fiery Note 7 had the same size battery as the S7 edge or it might have been 100mah less and it had better sot than the S7 edge

MY PERSONAL COMPLAINTS & REVIEW OF THE HUAWEI MATE 20 X
This is my personal take of the huawei mate 20X which I provide as a cautionary note to potential buyers. This is an honest critique of a phone I owned for little over a month. For comparison sake I own the samsung a70 and used that to gauge the phone's overall value. Last month I bought it going in with the mindset that the big screen and its features would be cool as hell. I was wrong.
Online I purchased it for $590. My first impression when I unboxed it was I felt horrified. The phone is monster big. It made me a bit uneasy to think that the heavy weight coupled with its sheer size would make for a perfect shattered screen in time. As I handled it I was on edge that it would fall which made me feel somewhat insecure. But after a while I got used to the size and it fit my pockets although the top protrudes out a bit. After toying with it I felt I had to always be aware that it might fall so I used extra precaution while it was on my person, but it was no biggie.
BATTERY
The first thing that constantly bothered me about the phone was the battery which is 5000 mah. The first thing I made sure to do was to put this baby into airplane mode, turn off bt and location and just keep wifi on. Also, I made sure of turning off background activity in the settings on the grand majority of apps not to mention uninstalling unwanted apps.
You might at first glance think, "wow 5000 mah, amazing I'll buy it right away!" Hold your horses buddy. Just because a phone has a big battery doesnt necessarily mean it will perform like a big battery champ. An example of this is when I charged the phone to 100% one morning. I read email, went on youtube for 10 minutes, surfed the net and made one call that lasted 2 minutes. This whole session lasted 20 minutes. The battery drained to 87%, I kid you not! Another example is when I charged it to 100% one night. After 3 hours of idleness, not picking it up or doing anything to it, the battery read a disconcerting 96%. How in god's name is that possible on 5000 mah after I disabled many apps and killed many more running in the background?? By comparison my samsung a70 which has a 4500 mah battery beats the mate 20X big time in battery. After I put the a70 through the ringer with the above same session in the same amount of time the battery showed a pleasing 97%. A user on xda commented that his mate 20x's battery is slightly (keyword, slightly) better than his samsung s9 which has a 4100 mah battery. Now youre seeing the bigger picture.
UI
The UI is the 2nd worst thing about this phone. It looks like Ice Cream - heavily outdated and disappointing. Though it navigates fast through menus, the app drawer cant be accessed by swiping from the bottom as in most phones today with Pie which is installed on this phone out the box. Even though you have an option for that feature its clumsy and not pretty.
SCREEN RESOLUTION & COLOR
Another bone of contention is the screen resolution. It looks good. But when compared to modern phones like my a70 which is very sharp it falls short. Of course the screen is large which "thins out" pixel density making it less crisp. Thats understandable. But it disappoints when juxtaposing it with sharper phones.
Color is not well calibrated even though it's set to vivid by default. Red apparently dominates the other colors which makes the reds stand out too much. Perhaps a tweak in the settings would do the trick? But with a phone debuted at $1000 you would think huawei would have the experience by now to fix that. Completely inexcusable. The samsung a70's vivid color depth blows the mate 20x out of the water.
SOUND
The sound volume and quality are quite loud and amazing respectively. The best I've ever heard in any smartphone. Huawei did a good job in this dept. But there's no way to toggle dolby atmos off unfortunately. Battery charging is fast, no complaints. Stereo is a huge plus!
GAMES AND VIDEO
For some unknown twisted reason, given the above complaints, playing games on this phone lasted a long time in battery. Playing asphalt 9 for 15 minutes drained only 4 - 5%. Same thing with playing videos. An hour of youtube drained only 6%. Very good but strange given its battery drains in other areas.
OVERALL & MY ADVICE
My great question in all this is, why the hell arent people complaining about these issues?? Battery is not efficient, the UI looks ugly and feels way outdated, the colors are off, resolution isnt as sharp as on other phones and its a bit heavy. To be perfectly honest, with all these faults the phone is worth $460, not $650 which is the lowest price as a new item selling on amazon at the time of this writing. Without any of these issues the phone would be perfect.
For those considering buying this phone take great heed of the aforementioned before you fork over 7 tall bills for it that later on you might regret. Dont be easily fooled by rave reviews of owners of the phone on xda either. Many will exaggerate it because theyre blinded by its large size. Likewise, dont be easily fooled by tech reviews elsewhere like those found on zdnet. Some of them are actually written by paid reviewers who will intentionally gloss over a product, ignoring its faults to satisfy ad revenue.

Nah dude ... It is a solid phone. I also got my wife off Apple with the mate 20 pro. These are the best phones - period. Sady though, big business and government dictate otherwise.
HUAWEI... CAN YOU PLEASE LET ME UNLOCK MY BOOTLOADER FFS
That was me who mentioned about the battery drain being slightly better on the mate 20X , it was in relation to my s10+.
The S10+ screen is smaller at 6.4", screen on time battery drain would be greater with a larger panel regardless of battery capacity as we all know. It's all relative.
My ideal goal is 0.9 - 0.4% per hour idle drain or less. Which I get on the Mate 20X , similar to my s10+. The mate 20X larger battery provides greater in between charges when device is in idle and screen off and a slightly better SOT time with screen on than my S10+.
As we all know battery drain % has nothing to do with battery capacity. Drain is drain, regardless. I use GSAM and Accubattery Pro on all my devices to measure SOT and idle drain amongst other things. One other important point is that battery drain on same given device can be completely different to someone elses same device. There are many variables that come into play in regards to battery drain. Hence why there are users of s10+ devices that complain their battery drains faster whereby others post 10 hours plus screen on time. The S10 plus is a mere example, change the device name and it's the same scenario on other device forums on XDA.
As for YouTube reviews for phones in general, I've came to find out a while ago that most are fake. YouTube influencers are given the device for free for favourable reviews.

Did you actually read or just scan through the battery paragraph? I specifically explained how I set up my phone. Battery life again compared to the a70 leaves much to be desired. Why it went from 100% to 96% in 3 hours with everything turned off is completely inexcusable. As for the black guy in youtube, we dont know how HE set up his phone. Keep in mind that the mate 20x mustve been his 1st 5000 mah battery phone which came out last year at the time of his review when very few phones within that same period had the same mah capacity. This is why you cant judge a phone without comparing it to other phones. I actually tested the phone with the a70 on several occasions, being careful to take notes of observed changes in battery. Just to let you know, two phones from different companies with the same battery capacity will ALWAYS perform differently in terms of battery. This is irrefutable fact.

Never said it wasnt a solid phone. Its just not a perfectly solid 10 out of 10. Its plagued with issues serious companies arent foolish enough to make which should have been ironed out before huawei released it. Premium should be premium especially at premium price, no excuses.
Chinese phone makers are not in the habit of being keen on quality control and are slow to correct mistakes. They think they can just slap together a phone with high end specs through cheap labor as their corp revenue goal, throw it in the consumer's face like a doggy treat and expect them to bite. Thats not how you make customers happy. You keep them satisfied through constant and consistent quality control which the chinese have historically lacked for a long time in their product cycles. But admittingly they are getting better at it; in that sense I give them credit where credit is due. But china is still no korea at least not yet. The mate 20x issues are to the mate 20x what chinese companies are to customers. If china would have made a strong effort to make phones amazing in all respects they could have single-handedly put a major dent in apple, lg and samsung by now.

Thats exactly what I surmised in my review. Battery capacity means nothing. It doesnt matter how big a battery is; its how efficiently the phone utilizes the voltage and how the software is able to tie in everything together, hardware and software wise.
As for YouTube reviews for phones in general, I've came to find out a while ago that most are fake. YouTube influencers are given the device for free for favourable reviews.

Yes you are correct. It is very unfortunate that we still cant get unfiltered honest reviews despite the "free" internet environment.
Isn't it strange that we have experiences with the phone, and yet we are both ultimately unhappy with the outcome. I am frustrated, you are disappointed.
We are like the odd couple of Huawei owners.

COMPLAINTS & REVIEW OF THE HUAWEI MATE 20 X
This is my personal take of the huawei mate 20X which I provide as a cautionary note to potential buyers. This is an honest critique of a phone I owned for little over a month. For comparison sake I own the samsung a70 and used that to gauge the phone's overall value. Last month I bought it going in with the mindset that the big screen and its features would be cool as hell. I was wrong.
>
I haven't owned a Samsung since the S8+ - I loved it, but the battery was nowhere near what they said it was for me. I wonder if it was because I have to use a VPN 80% of the time to access Google services. (in China - Lucky/unlucky me). How do I know that you are not some sort of Samsung plant? A70 can't be as awesome as this phone, can it?
Online I purchased it for $590. My first impression when I unboxed it was I felt horrified. The phone is monster big. It made me a bit uneasy to think that the heavy weight coupled with its sheer size would make for a perfect shattered screen in time. As I handled it I was on edge that it would fall which made me feel somewhat insecure. But after a while I got used to the size and it fit my pockets although the top protrudes out a bit. After toying with it I felt I had to always be aware that it might fall so I used extra precaution while it was on my person, but it was no biggie.
>
I'm a big guy. I like the size. I like everything about the size. Yes, if you don't want a big phone - go to something else.
BATTERY
The first thing that constantly bothered me about the phone was the battery which is 5000 mah. The first thing I made sure to do was to put this baby into airplane mode, turn off bt and location and just keep wifi on. Also, I made sure of turning off background activity in the settings on the grand majority of apps not to mention uninstalling unwanted apps.
ok - I have no idea why this is the way it is for you. I have NEVER experienced a battery experience like this in sooooo ****ing many phones. So many times that famous African American on youtube - you know who - would tell me that 'this' phone's battery life was the best. And so many times I'd get let down (never more so than the Huawei Nexus 6P. Damn I loved that phone, but damn that battery sucked). Anyway, Now-a-days I can accidentally leave my camera or torch on and it DOES NOT MATTER. This thing is a battery wizard ... for me. THe AL00 in china with Veeeeepeeeee-ENNNN
You might at first glance think, "wow 5000 mah, amazing I'll buy it right away!" Hold your horses buddy. Just because a phone has a big battery doesnt necessarily mean it will perform like a big battery. My samsung a70 which has a 4500 mah battery beats the mate 20X big time in battery. After I put the a70 through the ringer with the above same session in the same amount of time the battery showed 97%. A user on xda commented that his mate 20x's battery is slightly (keyword, slightly) better than his samsung s9 which has a 4100 mah battery. Now youre seeing the bigger picture.
I have NEVER been more impressed by a smart phone. I get a day and a bit an dI am a HEAVY user. Not sure why your phone life is ****, but I wish I knew why.
UI
The UI is the 2nd worst thing about this phone. It looks heavily outdated like Ice Cream or Kit Kat. Very disappointing. Though it navigates fast through menus, the app drawer cant be accessed by swiping from the bottom. Even though you have an option for that feature its
I actually really like EMUI despite my bashing in numerous threads. I especially like the gestures. I am even unsure if I could go back to Nova ... but the fact I can't, ****s me off more than anything. The worst and second-worst and third-worst thing about this phone is the lack of accessibility to a launcher. Damn -that is frustrating and I want to elbow all the EVR dudes right in the GD nose for their insistence that the phone is awesome!
SCREEN RESOLUTION
Another bone of contention is the screen resolution. It looks good. But when compared to modern phones like my a70 which is very sharp it falls short. Of course the screen is large which "thins out" pixel density making it less crisp. Thats understandable. But it disappoints when juxtaposing it to sharper phones.
Nah man - in my opinion, the phone's resolution is pretty good. You sure you don't work for Samsung?
SOUND & BATTERY
The sound volume and quality are quite loud and amazing respectively. The best I've ever come across in any smartphone. Huawei did a good job in this dept. But there's no way to toggle dolby atmos off unfortunately. Battery charging is fast, no complaints. Stereo is a huge plus!
You're probably right, but I couldn't give a toss about this as I mostly use Bluetooth ear. Speakers have been handy once ort twice, but essentially, I have never used the jack. Also I have no clue what the **** is Atmos - I am a philistine when it comes to musique.
GAMES AND VIDEO
For some unknown twisted reason, given the above complaints, playing games on this phone lasted a long time. Playing asphalt 9 for 15 minutes drained only 4 - 5%. Same thing with playing videos. An hour of youtube drained only 6%. Very good but strange given its battery drains in other areas.
Think you are right with this. I seem to be able to set my son up on math prodigy and t4each your monster how to read and it lasts a zillion times longer than when I use the old huawei 6P.
OVERALL & MY ADVICE clumsy and not pretty.
My great question in all this is, why the hell arent people complaining about these issues?? Battery is not efficient, the UI looks ugly and feels way outdated, resolution isnt as sharp as on other phones and its a bit heavy. To be perfectly honest, with all these faults the phone is worth $460, not $650 which is the lowest price as a new item on amazon at the time of this writing. Without any of these issues the phone would be perfect.
It is worth it, in my opinion if you live outside of China and can get the EVA version and you don't need heaps of mem or a dual sim. I need a dual sim, heaps of mem, and I live in China. Therefore it has completely sucked owning the most amazing phone EVER.
For those considering buying this phone take great heed of the aforementioned before you fork over 7 tall bills for it that later on you might regret. Dont be easily fooled by rave reviews of owners of the phone on xda.

Thats fine I dont expect anyone to know more than anyone else. There are no absolutes here just relative critiques.
What would I or samsung gain from a phone made for the asian market if I were a secret samsung agent based in USA on an english-based website? The samsung a70 is the only phone at my disposal with which to compare the mate 20x.
I cant qualify your response as to the UI since you prefer a 1971 chevy when we're driving 2018 ferraris. What I can comment on is that I think the L29 version can install launchers. But I'm not 100% sure on that so dont quote me for assurance.
Yeah it looks like this is the only phone you may have owned. Not sure but thats what it sounds like to me. Reviewers have also entered the same judgement as to its resolution.
If china had made a strong effort to make phones amazing in all respects they could have single-handedly demolished apple, lg and samsung by now.

I'm both frustrated and disappointed. Honestly I wanted to make the mate 20x my main driver that I planned to replace my a70. But huawei decided for me to keep my a70.
The honor 8x max is a good big screened phone. But problems with installed google services like the playstore keep me from considering buying it.
Looks like I'll stick to my a70 until I see a better contender with a bigger screen, hopefully one with no issues that would otherwise prompt me to open a thread to complain about.
Wouldnt say we're the 'odd couple' since we're both not as frustrated with each other as with that one thing bothering us, the mate 20x. We're more like Frasier and Niles.

Very sad to hear that. Another example of huawei disappointing potential consumers. The fact that this will hurt them in revenue makes me happy. If they dont take this as a lesson I dont know what will.

Well guys I'm thinking of buying back this phone. Before I do I need to see how it looks with Emui 10. If anyone has the BETA emui 10 installed I'd appreciate a few pics. Thanks guys.
Hey All, I’m looking at moving from a Fold 3 to an S22 Ultra. I purchased the Fold because of the ability to have a tablet in my pocket and used the hell out of it for media consumption and a little gaming. However, the battery in the Fold I can crush in under a day (not exactly surprising given it’s powering two screens, the outer screen is a major pain to type on, and the pictures I’ve taken on it have been underwhelming.

Where I could use some help is to get a read on experiences from folks who have had the S22 Ultra for several months. How is it going for you? Are there any issues you’ve run into? How is the phone’s durability - any issues with it being too susceptible to screen cracks? Finally, how is the battery treating you, particularly for U.S. folks with the Qualcomm chipset.
Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!
No Fold 4?
I would consider the above suggestion and wait if I was you.
Qualcomm chipset here, have been using it since April, Snapdragon variant with 12Gb of RAM & 256Gb of Storage.
Camera quality is phenomenal, IMO the best camera on a phone. Especially with the GCam port here in this sub-forum.
Battery life for me has been great, but I do not game with it at all. Rumours are the next chip is much more power efficient running on the 4nm process.
Overall experience has been disappointing. I did not expect basic applications like Reddit and Twitter to be stuttering mess. The scrolling is not perfectly smooth and while that's fine for most people, I personally find it very frustrating that a premium phone like this is unoptimized for extremely popular apps.
The curved display is something I thought I could get used to with time, but months later, and I still hate it with a passion. The discoloration on the sides is very apparent, and some unoptimized apps the writing goes in the curved area of the display and I personally find it horrible with zero real world benefits other than "looks good" in pictures and from a distance. But in practice is horrible.

First of all welcome to the forum! The battery on the Fold3 did not work out for me either so I switched to the S22u in mid April and have never looked back. I get 8+ hrs of SOT with the S22u (Snapdragon version) and are very happy with battery life (but I do not do any gaming). I would consider @Blackfyre suggestion and perhaps hold off *if* the exynos version is the offering in your county.
With the fold3 I was always concerned about the fragility of the big screen however I never encountered any issues with it. The S22u screen has been very durable and actually better to view. I love the near immediate response of the spen and as previously mentioned the camera is fantastic.
So overall I'm very happy and have absolutely no desire to move to the fold4. I have none of the studdering, heat, or battery issues and the recent updates have been excellent in cleaning up many of the issues the phone did have upon release. While its not perfect it's one of the best phones I've had.
The only other thing I would recommend if you do get the S22u is to avoid the 8/128Gig variant as it's a little thin on memory and storage if you want to exploit the great features of the phone (camera, dex, etc).

The phone isn't the problem. Twitter is the problem. It stutters on pretty much every device except maybe iPhone. I get the same stuttering on my Tab S7. Twitter doesn't give a crap about Android, it really only cares about iPhone and iPad. I would also bet that Reddit is the same.

Okay, but who said crash though? We said it's a laggy mess. It stutters when scrolling. There is no crashing. It's just badly optimized, both on Android/Samsung side and on the app developers too. Either way there needs to be better collaboration between Samsung/Google and the top apps to get them optimized or tuned for better performance.

It is not Samsung's nor Google's fault that Twitter is not optimized for Android/Samsung devices. That is Twitter's fault. I expect Samsung apps to work well on Samsung devices and Google's apps to work well on Android in general; and they both do.
If more people complain to Twitter and Reddit about the user experience for their apps on Android/Samsung devices, then they may improve them. Complaining to Google or Samsung will get you nowhere since neither of them have very little (if any) control over Twitter's and Reddit's apps.
I know that pixels weren't made for gaming, but even the OnePlus sells for less and offers a better chip. And battery on the p7p is mediocre. Not sure if it is just me, but the p7p is just as worse as my p6p. Are you guys satisfied with your P7P or have buyers remorse?

Right? I think everyone knows the Pixel isn't a gaming focused device but it holds its own regardless. My OnePlus 9... Now THAT phone was an embarrassment for gaming... Even Unity games lagged.
Google isn't trying to build a performance phone. They aren't trying to build a phone that tops the benchmark charts with the fastest chip. They're trying to make a "smart" phone. That is what they are about. That is their niche.
And as far as performance goes, I've never once said to myself while using any Pixel I've owned, "Damn this phone is slow, I need it to be faster. I can't do anything with this thing". Performance is just fine for my needs and expectations.
True, everyone needs to stop reading and trusting articles these days. Check it out for yourself and make your own opinion on your findings.
Honestly I come from a OP 9pro. tmob rooted converted to global, and I have to say it was not a good phone, very glitchy, overheated all the time cam was meh and bat was worse.
These games are all optimized for Snapdragon chips and google falls 5 fps short to the s22 ultra. I call that a win actually
The pixel 7 pro can game just fine, and I'm very happy with it. I came from an oneplus 10 pro and even if the oneplus 10 pro has a faster chip, the Tensor g2 has better cooling and therefore have a more stable performance for a longer period of time when gaming.
And if I'm not mistaken, the snapdragon 888 gen 1 in the oneplus 10 pro, dosent run at full speed by default to avoid thermal throttling.

Yeah the 8 Gen 1 in the OP10P has the X1 core disabled by default. Same for the 888 in the OP9/9P. Meanwhile Tensor G2 packs two X1 performance cores and has no default throttling.

I'll keep reading articles (and forums) and use common sense to cut through the chaff.
Seems like a lot of chaff out there (including forums).
I fell into this trap of articles and reviews as well. After a few days of this, I said f***k it, and ordered one today. I'm not a reviewer, I'm just a regular dude, so these "test" don't apply to me in the real world. And at the end of it all, if I don't like the device, I'll get rid of it and get something else.
I'm not doing benchmarks, and I know what to expect from this kind of chipset and I'm happy with P7P. I prefer features what you can do with P7P instead of high benchmark scores.
Playing games on phone is actually weird for me and I don't understand that. For that you have PCs and consoles. And playing games on Pixel? is there a way to say this politely? Probably not. Overall this is great device and I don't have any issue with performance when doing things this device was built for.

This, 100%.
OP, please stop these kinds of posts and sell the phone if you don't like it. I'm getting tired of seeing all this negativity here.
At first I was hesitant to get the P7P because of the hardware but then I realized that the hardware has little to do with the experience you have with the phone.
You don't buy a car solely because it has the highest number of power. The interior matters, the feel, and also how well it can utilize that power.
I haven't had any performance issues with this phone. Granted, I don't game, but just using the phone there are no hickups or frame drops, everything launches quickly, and it's responsive.
I feel the same about the pixel watch.. Reading all these articles it makes you think that these products are trash and outdated.
Just get the phone and try it out. You like it? Great. You don't? Then send it back.
If the fact of having the newest SoC is important, then these products might not be for you, until they improve.
I feel the same about high refresh displays for example. I'd never buy a phone which costs more than 500€ which didn't have a high refresh display. Yet most people don't care and buy 1150€ Apple phones which still use 60Hz displays.
I don't see as many people complaining about that.

Im looking for a cheap high performance Xiaomi phone with a long update path (aka in Xiaomis eyes). Im looking for one with long battery life, a in-display fingerprint scanner, amazing performance for gaming and just navigating everyday tasks, preferably one with fast charging, OLED screen or better, 120Hz, and one with easy rooting like how Xiaomis have. I have my eyes on the MI 12 (people say it overheats), MI 12X and the MI 11. I want a phone that will last me a long time. Any recommendations? doesn't have to be a Xiaomi but if it has a easy rooting process like Xiaomi I might consider it.
I am using xiaomi 12 now for the past 3 days. My experiece has been absolutely perfect. Ive never had trouble with overheating, not even when i played some games and while charging. Phone becomes warm but it is waaaaaay much less than my iPhone used to have. I didnt do much research but for me on miui 13 and android 13 the experience with xiaomi 12 have beed perfect. Battery is literally undestructable and it charges in 20 - 30 minutes. Maybe the overheating was fixed in the updates i dont know. But for me and my experience with the device now, it is way better than my iphone was. Good luck!
first of all, the battery life of this phone with 5G is on is a joke, with wifi I get double SOT,
in my opinion don't buy mi12, this SoC is very bad and don't listen to other guy, all of them(mi12) overheat unless you live in North Pole
mi11 is better choice if you don't mind the size, 12x nice too maybe less future proof
mi11 has more roms too,
only plus for mi12 is the compact size,
to conclude, if you want a phone for many years don't buy mi12 for sure

It's your opinion and I respect it.
Wifi consumes more battery by downloading and streaming than data and comparing a phone that is two years old with a recent phone makes no sense.
well he asked for mi11, it's a nice phone imo, we should tell the truth about this phone though, battery life is not good and it is getting hot, also not big community so far and no roms, me personally I wouldn't buy again, coming from mi9, this was a big disappointment but everything is subjective, I hope this helps

That is to say that a cheap phone with high performance with an important autonomy and which lasts a long time, it does not exist.

Not looking for top of the line or anything just something that lasts a while I don't like Samsungs or iPhones and I had a Poco f3 a few months ago.
