I've just noticed an SMS to 919560345888 just after I changed my CSC to India. Is it normal in India? Is it some kind verification when you first turn your phone on?
Very strange. If someone from India had an explanation, it would be great.
Forgot to say. It is a hidden SMS. I could see it just in the operator app, charging a few cents.
I hope it is an one time SMS. Or just when I switch Sim card.

Check this thread, there are more people like you there. Hope you find some answers there.
This is absolutely normal. I am indian and this exists since many years. It will send registration SMS when your device registred on network first time (Every time after factory reset)
You can find this code in CSC features file too (IMEI tracking)

Good to know. Thanks for answering. I imagined it was some kind of registration. I'm from Brazil and decided to use India firmware. Samsung doesn't update Brazil's phones very often and sometimes it took months to get an update.

Dear forum,
let me just go straight to the point:
My Galaxy Nexus was stolen at work last friday. I tried to use some tracking software like Plan B but without succes, the SIM card had been changed allready.
Now here comes the part that gave me some hope.
When I went to My (Gmail) Account at the Android Market today (using my desktop), I noticed 2 things:
- First thing is that the record from the column "Carrier" has been changed from "Vodafone" to "KPN', so I think I can assume here that someone put another SIM card in it.
- Also at the column "Last Used" I see "February 13, 2012", which is yesterday (monday).
I was really wondering if there is a workaround or something to get more information (like the phone number of that SIM card?) than just the carrier of that SIM card and when it was last used?
Thanks in advance~
Anthony Elbers
During the night push a remote lock app to the device, if they haven't changed the google user login by then. Then just lock the device. If the app shows it set a screen message offering reward for return. Better still make it scream while at work tomorrow.

The thing is, I only work at fridays and saturdays. I also think that the person is smart enought to not bring the phone to work when I'm around.
I thought maybe if I could get some more information with a workaround, I could catch the thief myself instead of waiting for him/ her to give it back (which probably isn't going to happen).
I hope you informed your managers.
You could have a look through the available apps in the market see if there is anything you can use to lock the phone remotely and or push some really nasty messages to it. If you ain't using why should they get the use of it think there may be some way of remotely wiping the phone aswell. Then at least it would be of no use to the thief anyway. Sorry I can't be of more help. I allways make sure I activate any built in phone finder and instal lookout, so never really had to deal with the issue

Note that the phone is stolen and SIM card has been changed allready. As far as I know you need to configure Prey on the phone itself, so not really remote like Plan B.
I'm still curious if there is a workaround to get more information about the SIM card than just the "Carrier" and "Last Used"?
Like.. are those the only two things that get stored or is there more information about the SIM card that I could get without having the phone itself?
If you have the IMEI you can contact your network and ask they put a block on the phone, a lot of the time it also blocks it off other networks as well.
i think the info about the sim like its number is by far more important than map location because if you got the thief's number then you can report that number to the police and mobile network .

This is pretty much what I'm aiming for since I allready have contacted the police and gave them the IMEI of the phone. They said like something like "We'll see what we can do", but I thought there would be some workaround (yeah I'm using this word alot) to get more information of that SIM card.
I think I can assume that the column "Carrier" which is shown on the screen, is read of the SIM card?
Question is, if anything else is shown somewhere in my Gmail (since it's linked to my Galaxy Nexus) or at the Android Market or something that might be of help?
do you know that mobile carriers can identify everything to a handset with just an IMEI
i don't know what is the procedures in your country but i think you should call that carrier and ask for directions especially if you have a proof of purchase or something similar

My question is, did you inform your carrier? Here, when that happened to my friend who wasn't too tech saavy, I called his carrier, had the phone blocked right away, and told them what network it was on via the same information that you received via email. The actually contact the manufacturer and the police and were able to track it down on their network, find the phone and press charges. That IMEI number is huge as it tells the carrier what exact tower the phone is connected to. In densely populated areas, that's 1-2km max. Cross reference the people at work that live in that area and boom. Done like dinner.

Yeah I know that, but I called both the police and my carrier and gave them my IMEI and asked if they could do such thing.. and both said that they can't do such a thing, ONLY if the phone has the original SIM card... I think they just don't want to help me at all.

Hello guys!
I love this phone, but i am having problems getting it to function properly here in Sweden. It was originally bought on a contract and simlocked to Tre (carrier). I bought the phone second hand from swedish ebay (much cheaper than brand new) with the intention of unlocking it and using with my carrier (Telenor).
Tre would not unlock the phone for me (have to see out 24 month contract) so i unlocked it myself using the services of unlockscope.com. The process was successful, and the phone no longer asks for a network unlock code when using previously locked sim.
The problems start now.. It just refuses to register on the network! If i switch the phone off, insert sim and start, then i get a brief flash of the carrier name in top left corner (2 seconds), and then it goes back to saying emergency calls only.
I cannot register manually, i have tried hundreds of times, even though the carrier appears in the list. The apn settings are also correct for my carrier.
I have also contacted my carrier and they dont understand the problem. I even had them run a check on the imei to see if it was blocked on their network (possible stolen phone) but it came back negative, no blocking whatsoever!
The weirdest thing is that it works when using my brothers Tele2 sim card! The phone registers in seconds and displays a nice 4g symbol next to the signal indicator! A thing to note is that this Tele2 nano sim fits very nicely in the tray and stays in place, whereas my telenor sim is extremely loose and falls out, though i have tried taping my sim in place with no success.
Can anybody relate to this problem or think of a possible cause? I dont know what to try anymore! I'm thinking that there must be something wrong with the phone, but then why does Tele2 work perfectly??!!
Sorry for the long post! I appreciate any help offered!

I have already tried flashing with stock swedish firmware using odin (G930FXXU1APEQ_G930FVDS1APF1_VDS) but same problem persists.. One weird thing to note though is that even though i do a clean flash with unbranded swedish rom, the phone installs some carrier specific apps from the original carrier the phone was simlocked to upon first boot. How can that be??
Maybe its worth trying an international version?
Thanks for the suggestions

That is odd , yes try a totally different rom just to see how it turns out , even from another country it should not make any difference for the phone and connect easily to a network.
check this thread also

I will try with an international firmware and see if there is any difference.. if not i will follow that guide on efs partition in case that is corrupt.. This is so frustrating!!!
Is it at all possible that a very loose fitting sim could be the problem? As the simcard of the carrier that works fits very snugly in the sim tray.

Try both if one doesn't work
There is also smart switch / KIES emergency firmware recovery you could try
But tbh if ODIN successfully flashes the new ROM and it boots without being able to make calls, something else is wrong IMO
Do you have a network signal for your carrier?
Could the phones IMEI have been blacklisted?
Call up the carrier and ask if it has been blacklisted, if the previous owner reported it stolen they might have had it locked / blacklisted, which would stop it from working on any network

IMEI blocking only bars the GSM functions of a phone (calls and SMS texts)
Mobile data (3G/4G) and wifi services will still work.

We bought the phone in our home country while we were on vacation ( Bulgaria ) and then changed the software and we went back to UK. So the phone is working in Bulgaria but not working in UK
Any ideas...
Atleast we know the problem now ..
Your main post says you bought it on Virgin UK, how if it was in Bulgaria?
And you said you bought it a few days ago, now you say when you were on holiday over there
No, once it's blacklisted it's dead afaik, people steal phones, the real owner reports it stolen, it gets blocked
And it wouldn't be blocked on UK networks if it was originally from Bulgaria either afaik - stolen UK phone = blocked on UK networks
Moral of the story, don't steal phones

I have the payment for the phone so i didnt steal it
Long story short... I bought the phone on 24.10 in Bulgaria ( It is Virgin UK but bought it in bulgarian website. The phone worked with bulgarian sim and changed the software with no bloatware ) , she came on 26.10 to visit me ( vacation from university ). I gave her the phone as a present and it worked great in Bulgaria but only on wi-fi ( she didn have roaming so we never placed her UK sim ). She went back to England on 01.11 and placed her UK sim-card and the phone didnt work. That why i assumed the problem could be from changing software but all along it was blacklisted ... ( Altought it is not blacklisted in Bulgaria ).
So if there is nothing we can do i guess i will have to resell the phone in Bulgaria and buy her a new one.
Your main post says "everything worked fine , could make and recieve calls and so on"
Now you say you only used WiFi?
Anyway, the phone was obviously reported as stolen, it was a UK phone being sold in Bulgaria, there's alarm number 1, so most likely the seller you bought it from had a hand in that if you have payment receipts, so contact them, request refund
If you sell it on, make sure you list it as UK IMEI blocked too

Hello folks, I am having an issue and am hoping someone can help.
My J700M shows no service. I have installed Argentinian firmware from sammobile website, and have tried a few others with no luck. I unlocked phone via Octoplus (or z3x, can't recall which exactly) and for some reason there is no service. I noticed the IMEI was bad after flashing firmware and unlocking phone after I first got it, so I re-installed the IMEI cert from a backup that one of the boxes made for me. IMEI is good and checks out, but no service.
Which firmware can I flash that would allow me to get service again? I live in a zone that gets strong signal for the 4 major US players. Or is there a modem I have to flash to obtain service? I'm so confused.
Another point worth mentioning, the one thread I found that seemed like it could help me informed me to use dialer commands to pull up a menu. No dialer commands work, so I flashed another firmware and was able to get the *#06# IMEI/SN dialer command to work, but the one the thread was mentioning still does not work. I believe it was *#*#4636#*#* or something similar.
Any help please? Would like to get this issue resolved so I can re-sell the phone. Donation of 15% of phones sale price to whomever helps me resolve issue first. or 10% a piece up to 40% if multiple people contribute to resolution.
If you have any questions, I will of course be glad to answer them as soon as XDA notifies me via email that I have a reply.
Thanks in advance folks. Cheers!
Hi guys,
I'm new to XDA and wanted to thank everyone for all the great posts.
I have purchased a Mate 9 MHA-AL00 recently. It has been a great phone to play around with and figure out all the great features it has.
I have been facing some trouble with regards to connecting it to my carrier. I have tried inserting my sim card and I only get the "emergency call only" prompt.
I have visited my carrier story to ensure that network settings are correct and they have verified that this is not the issue. I have visited a cell phone repair shop and they were not able to assist either.
The weird part of this is that the phone picks up my phone number and carrier information but does not connect. I have tried 3 other carrier sims and haven't had any luck either.
I did however get a little break the other day. I placed two different carrier sims in my phone at the same time. Both carriers worked! No data, just phone calls were working. After about 5 minutes, one carrier dropped. I removed the sim for the dropped carrier and the second carrier dropped as well. Could not get them to reconnect.
On a couple of occasions, a 3G sim card has worked as the only sim. It works for 5 minutes and then drops.
I've tried to research and look around to see if anyone has any similar issues and have not had any luck. I'm quite new to android phones and by no means a cell phone expert.
The phone was purchased in Malaysia and I do not have the option of returning or exchanging.
Thanks guys. I look forward to your expertise.
Abs
That's definitely not normal. Try reflashing.
Was this a brand new unit? If not you might have gotten yourself a stolen unit with a barred IMEI.

Yes try re flashing ur phone.
Download this file it is Al00 firmware, exctract the rar and copy the exctracted folder to an sd card, turn off ur phone and press 3 buttons, power volume up and down till the phone start updating.
This will wipe everything so make sure to backup first.
It is an old firmware but you can update to latest firmware in system update.
Good luck

Follow gm007's instructions and try reflashing it. If that doesn't sort it I'm afraid you're stuck. Get in touch with the seller if that's an option, you might need to ship it back to the country of origin to have it looked at by Huawei. Then again if you're in possession of stolen goods (you implied that's a possibility) you can forget that.
Bypassing IMEI locks is illegal and discussing it is against XDA's TOS.
