I want to use Firefox Nightly as my default browser. So, I have set it as default in the settings menu.
But after 5 minutes, when I click on a link either through Google search widget or another App, Samsung Browser will open.
When I go to see what my default browser is in the settings menu, it has automatically reverted to Samsung.

What I have observed is anything there is an update to Samsung browser, default browser settings gets reverted to factory default Samsung browser.
Not sure why it's behaving like that. That's abnormal. Double check your settings.
Go to the Samsung Internet and set the default browser there.
Clear system cache.
Try disabling Samsung browser's permission to change change system settings. Make sure
The Samsung browser is great for vid streaming.
I use the Samsung beta internet browser as the link default browser so my main browser Brave doesn't get gummed up with that junk.
Meh, play with it...
I ended up using ADB App Control to uninstall it.

I can't stand the ads and lack of addons such as ublock and all the filters it can use. With Firefox Nightly, I can bring all my firefox addons. Secondly, I would rather use the streaming app itself than stream via Samsung Internet app.

I use a couple of the plug in blockers and the mode below. As such it cuts through some wicked popup sites and can play the vids without trouble almost always.
It runs vids better than my main browser Brave, which is pretty much bulletproof.
I use the Samsung browser's secret mode for sketchy porn sites. I simply back out or close the tab if things get bad. No malware breaches in over 2 years. Used probably it's a very good vid browser.

In the settings for default apps there is a sub section that says opening links....the default is samsung browser....you can change it there...I changed mine to chrome....This is seperate from default browser
You can just Uninstall it. In many regions- like mine - you simply get unistalling
You can just uninstall it on a lot of S22s
I was able to uninstall it without a problem using the normal "Uninstall" option.

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing a more laggy browser after upgrading to froyo. My phone is rooted but I upgraded before through Kies and im with rogers if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance

Go to Dolphin Mini and you will have no complaints!
Both Dolphin Mini and Miren browser are really light and fast. Personally, I've been leaning towards Miren.
The slowness of the browser comes from the fact that it supports and does playback flash content. If you disable flash plugin from the browser or change it to on-demand, you will see the browser loads and responds must faster.
And Steve Jobs is right, Adobe Flash is a a piece of garbage.

Ive looked for Flash settings to change it to on demand, but where are the settings?
I like Flash because I was with iOS emailing url's to myself to check out later on desktop, but I have been going to desktop less and less as my phone becomes more and more powerful. Pretty soon all I will need it for is office and NAS use.
You won't find flash settings. It is a generic setting called 'Plug-in setting'.

Flash is available in Dolphin HD on demand. I've only used Dolphin HD; I don't know if it can be done in mini or the stock browser.
Thanks for all the input guys, i have a quick questions what's the difference between dolphin mini and dolphin hd? And ive set my plugin setting to on demand on the deafult browser and also have adfree, but it still seems at times the browser is considerbly more laggy then the browser before froyo. Btw dolphin mini is very good thanks for the suggestion.

Browsing internet(Chrome) on my phone has become a headache now. Every second website I open, generates a popup like this
{

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and then I am redirected to another website
Pressing back button to return to the page that you were browsing also turns out to be futile. It culminates into another fake virus warning popup
It's not just my phone. Every Android phone I've encountered showcases this issue and browsing internet on android(Chrome) has become a pestering issue now.
somebody please come up with a solution!
What i have speculated is that the issue pertains to a malicious app.
Kindly refrain from posting solutions like
Clear Cache and Data of web browser
Format phone
Install reinstall web browser
They don't work.
its obviously some app you're installing or a malicious website you've been visiting
Looks like you've got a bit of malware. Try letting an antivirus program like AVG or Avast scan your phone.
Also, personally I prefer using Firefox, as it has Adblock Plus. (as a plugin, so no root required)
I don't think its a malware. Some websites have actually put up those type of ads where we are re-directed to the play store for download some cleaning app. I think a solution would be to request desktop site on chrome or as someone suggested just ditch chrome for Firefox with adblock support.
Hope it helps.

Or since we're here on xda-forums, there's the possibility to install an adblocker apk to stop these ads with root methods ^^
You don't have malware. All my devices had the same issue. Sites just kept popping up ads and it was impossible to browse the web. After installing an adblocker everything is fine. If you're rooted try Adaway, if not - Adblock Plus (which is available also as an add-on for Firefox).

I also think that I'll have to move to firefox now. Actually its not malware or anything. I've already made Avast virus scan as well as malwarebyte scan to ensure this. I think websites are putting such ads.
annoying app
Hello,
look for the apps you installed since you begin having this notifcation, and desintall it, or look for a malware scanner ( antivirus), it can helps
I would suggest using a different browser. But if you want a way to bypass sometimes it works to load the website in desktop view. And usually there is a close button somewhere in the left upper corner.. but I think you would have noticed.
If you think it's an ad on our website, please post it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696660
Hi everyone!
Today I've created a mockup of my own idea: A Quick Settings interface for Wear!
As lots of other users out there, I hate to scroll 5-6 times to finally turn on airplane mode when I want to use my smartwatch as a watch only. This would be a much better and of course, faster option to turn settings on- and off quickly with only one slide...
Maybe we could add Location and theather mode to the bottom line, but as I see, three icons would do the job.

I hope if we create a bit of a hype Google will consider creating something like this in the M edition of Android Wear...
Anyway... Do you like the idea?
Looks cool. Doesnt 5.1.1 already have something similar?
No, it does not. This is especially annoying because you cannot use WiFi directly without putting the device in airplane mode first.
This is awesome and would be incredibly useful for me.

Why would you want to do this? Airplane mode disables interaction in the google apps. If you want to force wifi, better to turn bluetooth off on your phone.
The reason is if you want to use an app online. For instance, if you need a web browser or es file explorer on your watch. Bluetooth has no bearing. The system does not allow user apps to go online. There are two solutions (not one like I said before).
1, enable airplane mode, and then enable and connect to WiFi.
2, Put the app you want to have WiFi access in the system folder (I think both priv-app and app work).
Of course both have drawbacks, but that is the way it is right?

Apparently, like a lot of other solutions that have been found in android wear, there's an unofficial way to do things.
See web browser for a.w.
Looks awesome, maybe I'm slowly considering to get one of these petting watches
Yes please.
I like it ? should really be in it
yes please! I don't understand why google insists on coming up with a more "watch specific" interface for Wear, when scaling down vanilla android would have been a more familiar experience: pull down for toggles, swipe left/right to access your screens where you can deploy icons for quick launch apps, or one screen dedicated to notifications ala samsungs' touchwiz widgets page? I would pay for a mini version of Nova launcher on my watch.
I have an android headunit that heavily relies on the stock launcher called "launcher3.apk" I can only assume that in the background it loads other libraries or functions at the same time, the launcher itself sucks you can't even put a Icon or widget on it lets alone customise anything and I prefer Nova Launcher however if you do not at least load the stock launcher first then go back to Nova launcher other related applications do not work such as the equilizer app or Bluetooth app. Is there any way of either making the system launcher appear in the app drawer like other applications so I can use a regular auto launcher app, or is there a auto run app that also allows you to select a system app not listed in the app drawer because I have tried every one I can find in the app store and they all only let you choose apps listed in the drawer which this app is not listed, I have to manually launch it.
I look forward to your reply.
Mick
Anyone able to help me please, any suggestions greatly appreciated
Mick
Just set Not Optimized option for the app you want to run at boot. To do so, Go to Settings>Applications>Select the app>Battery>Battery optimisation>Set Not Optimized

If you are rooted, you can use the Tasker app to set up automated processes.

Hi Everyone,
Just an update to say I have figured out how to do it in case anyone else is looking for a way in future, this is what I did.
I made the Default Launcher to Nova Launcher and Downloaded a program called "Automate" from the play store.
I then in the settings of automate made sure it runs at startup.
I then made a new Flow that went a little like this with arrows connecting the blocks.
Flow Start.
Recieve Broadcast: _ BOOT_COMPLETE
START APP "com.android.launcher3"
Delay 2 Seconds
Start APP "com.teslacoilsw.launcher"
then connect the flow back to the top with an arrow so it doesnt run once only and stop and started it running and rebooted to test it.

this worked brilliantly. because it only had a 2 second delay you dont even see the factory launcher3 pop up so just runs in the background as I wanted meaning the EQ settings and bluetooth settinsg work as they should.
First off, I'm new here, couldn't find the troubleshooting section, so if this doesn't belong here please let me know and I will fix it.
I have a rooted Motorola G4 Plus with Havoc ROM and TWRP. When I go to install Brave Browser, it installs like normal, but there's no option to open it, the "open" dialogue button is greyed out! And there's no Brave app in my app drawer, I literally can't find Brave to open it. I posted this on Brave community btw haven't heard back from them.
If I check the list of installed apps under settings>>apps and notifications>>"show all apps" it will show that Brave Browser is indeed installed, so I'm in a pickle here. Also I am unable to set it as default browser, all those options are greyed out, as well. Any suggestions?
Additionally, I don't have Google Play Services installed so therefore its not Google Play Protect.
Thanks! I really want to see what the deal is with Brave Browser and the Moto G 4 Plus as it may be related to the model of phone!
