Brave Browser on Moto G 4 Plus, can't open! - General Questions and Answers

First off, I'm new here, couldn't find the troubleshooting section, so if this doesn't belong here please let me know and I will fix it.
I have a rooted Motorola G4 Plus with Havoc ROM and TWRP. When I go to install Brave Browser, it installs like normal, but there's no option to open it, the "open" dialogue button is greyed out! And there's no Brave app in my app drawer, I literally can't find Brave to open it. I posted this on Brave community btw haven't heard back from them.
If I check the list of installed apps under settings>>apps and notifications>>"show all apps" it will show that Brave Browser is indeed installed, so I'm in a pickle here. Also I am unable to set it as default browser, all those options are greyed out, as well. Any suggestions?
Additionally, I don't have Google Play Services installed so therefore its not Google Play Protect.
Thanks! I really want to see what the deal is with Brave Browser and the Moto G 4 Plus as it may be related to the model of phone!

Google Play Store (Android Market) v3.5.15 + Mod

What's in this version:
You now have the Installed and All tabs you can swipe between. The former one is what we used to have before - it lists all apps installed on your device. The latter lists all apps you've ever installed in case you want to download them again or travel down the memory lane. This is quite handy, and I've seen this list before in the Play Store on the web, so it's great to get it here in the mobile app.
The All tab contains a handy dropdown with all your accounts (if you added more than one) and lets you switch between them very easily (as opposed to clicking Menu, etc).
A few of the stock apps that apparently never got linked to the Play Store before got identified and picked up this time, and updates to them were waiting for me when I fired the Store up. I've complained about this very bug in my last rant, and it looks like someone listened.
Mod version features:
Unlimited access to apps in Google Play Store
Removed countries restriction in Google Play Store
Fixed the issue which your device is not compatible with this item in Google Play

Amazing, now I just received a new one.....
1.Have a look if you have unchecked Google AdMobs in Playstore Settings
2. Try "Airblocker" from the Playstore
These steps worked for me in a similar case.
Thanks will try, but why is this even happening?
The app located Sky Map Pro as the culprit so uninstalled that, so hope it works.
Never experienced this with the iPhone. Shame on Android for letting such apps through the approval process!
If we compare Play to iTunes Store - there is no approval process here ( there is, but compared to iOS it's like there is none ). Everyone can publish their apps of every kind - no restriction, no "you can't do this or that" from Google.
You have to be careful what you install. There is always the option to report an app - and then Google will take a loot at it, so i'd suggest you do that.
Hey, you guys are so lucky! Fee iPads!
I had this a while ago with a game I downloaded online (an iPhone port, not a paid app) and it kept happening out of nowhere!
Use a "task manager" or "task killer" app from the market and close any open apps one by one until you see the notification disappear. That way you'll find out which app is poisoning your phone, and you delete it straight away.
Problem solved and make sure you let people in this thread know, so if they have the same app causing this issue, then they can delete it immediately.
Hope that helps

thats how i solved it
i had that problem.
very simple ...
when u press on the notification its using the spam app to open the link.
after u press the notification
press long press on the home menu, u will see the last used apps. check the last one on the list.
thats the Spam one ! ! !
I had these before and always after a reboot....
Then I went to Play store and installed Airpush Detector. Check and Uninstalled those ad-wares.
It's gone now!
Thanks for all the great replies guys. I really appreciate it, cheers

[Q] Full screen popup ads

Hi there. Recently, ads that look like the image above have been popping up insistently on my phone. Every single time i pick it up after an interval, the ad pops up and takes up the whole screen, unless i click "no, thanks" or "Back" or "Home" it won't go away.
I'm getting very frustrated and i have uninstalled about 90% of my apps. I installed cleanmaster to clean my system cache to get rid of any unwanted files and i run it all the time. I've also tried all the ad blockers/detectors on the play store but they cannot detect any sign of malicious software.
Any advice? I would really hate to do a factory reset but i would like to know the cause of the problem, if it's an app. What's the point of having an android if i can't install any apps?!
Any ideas on how i can get to the root of the problem? It's frustrating as f***.
what happens if you press the recents button? does it show any app or just not respond?

It opens a webpage. One of those annoying "contest" websites where you are asked to do quizzes or enter your number to win a prize.

Hum... It's on your side, not Android... You obviously downloaded something...
It's an app for sure, but we cant help you unless you show us the list of your remaining apps.
When you find it, just uninstall it. No need to clear cash or anything, it wont make a difference anyway. And if you got it from google play, you should report it since it is against their guidelines. https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479847?hl=en
If it is not from the play store e.g. some pirate app, I dont feel sorry for you... If it's a legitimate app from outside the playstore you should raise your concern with the developer.

Annoying auto redirecting ads. Please help.

Browsing internet(Chrome) on my phone has become a headache now. Every second website I open, generates a popup like this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and then I am redirected to another website
Pressing back button to return to the page that you were browsing also turns out to be futile. It culminates into another fake virus warning popup
It's not just my phone. Every Android phone I've encountered showcases this issue and browsing internet on android(Chrome) has become a pestering issue now.
somebody please come up with a solution!
What i have speculated is that the issue pertains to a malicious app.
Kindly refrain from posting solutions like
Clear Cache and Data of web browser
Format phone
Install reinstall web browser
They don't work.
its obviously some app you're installing or a malicious website you've been visiting
Looks like you've got a bit of malware. Try letting an antivirus program like AVG or Avast scan your phone.
Also, personally I prefer using Firefox, as it has Adblock Plus. (as a plugin, so no root required)
I don't think its a malware. Some websites have actually put up those type of ads where we are re-directed to the play store for download some cleaning app. I think a solution would be to request desktop site on chrome or as someone suggested just ditch chrome for Firefox with adblock support.
Hope it helps.

Or since we're here on xda-forums, there's the possibility to install an adblocker apk to stop these ads with root methods ^^
You don't have malware. All my devices had the same issue. Sites just kept popping up ads and it was impossible to browse the web. After installing an adblocker everything is fine. If you're rooted try Adaway, if not - Adblock Plus (which is available also as an add-on for Firefox).

I also think that I'll have to move to firefox now. Actually its not malware or anything. I've already made Avast virus scan as well as malwarebyte scan to ensure this. I think websites are putting such ads.
annoying app
Hello,
look for the apps you installed since you begin having this notifcation, and desintall it, or look for a malware scanner ( antivirus), it can helps
I would suggest using a different browser. But if you want a way to bypass sometimes it works to load the website in desktop view. And usually there is a close button somewhere in the left upper corner.. but I think you would have noticed.
If you think it's an ad on our website, please post it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696660

That's AMAZING can't wait to get home lol
Got it mine, you can see a lot more apps now, still very few useful ones but lots of games. I even spotted ES File Explorer which I know some people have said they had a issue installing after a recent update.
Tested it a bit yesterday, very very nice improvement IMO. I could be wrong but I think it's still missing a few compatible apps..
It's getting somewhere at least, we might see more over the next couple of days
can this be installed on cm12.1 with gapps-lpmr1-x86-leanback-20150524-signed.zip or is it only for factory os?

I posted a comment about this in the official CM 12.1 thread. You can install the APK without doing anything special on CM 12.1 from within the OS. There is no need to boot into recovery to flash this.
I installed the apk and now the Play Store won't load anything. Just spinning. Anyone else have this issue? On a side note anyone know how to rollback to the previous version?
Goto your app settings and clear the cache and data. See if that helps

I'm having the same problem, but I didn't side-load. I just got the player today and in the apps it shows this version, but the store won't load. I factory reset it about a half hour before this post
edit: factory reset and letting it sit fixed it. Must have been queued to update the app and was just waiting until it was installed. Took like an hour of sitting overall.
Finally....
This update was long overdue. Google should have done this when the Nexus Player was released.
